Real Housewives of New York: 2017 Reunion Part 2

August 23, 2017 by tamaratattles 130 Comments

It’s time for part two of the reunion. Hopefully the worst of the Luann stuff will be left behind on the dreadful first part of the reunion. Oh silly me. We are going to start with Ramona denying that she invites Missy to all the parties they film to be a bitch. Then she goes on being a bitch talking about Tom still seeing other women. Andy asks Lu to tell us something about their relationship that she loves so much that the viewers might not know about. She tries to give an answer but then Ramona and Bethenny decide the question is for them and start talking over her. Bethenny says that Tom’s penthouse is just a one bedroom on the top floor. Because clearly these bitches have not insulted her enough in the last six hours or so. Then Andy says that everyone here is happy for her. Nope. Clearly they are not. Dorinda is the only one who said a kind word.

Time to move on to Tinsley. By the way, Topper just got remarried in the past few days. Tinsley is currently in Rome with Scott Kluth. Tinsley says she and Scott will be moving in together in the fall. For now, her hotel suite is just fine with her. Tinsley says Scott is the one. Tinsley talks about her bad relationship in Palm Beach. Then they talk to Tinsley about her drinking. Tinsley says she has her drinking under control now.

Andy asks these two to put their girls back in their dresses.

Andy moves on to Carole and the election. Do we have to? Carole and Adam are not together, but they did just go to Spain recently with Adam and Tinsley. Andy just wants to know if they are having sex with other people. Because, perv. Carole still says she knows more about politics than anyone else. Sonja, Luann and Ramona refuse to say who they voted for. They all have stories about meeting Hillary and/or Donald. Bethenny says she ran into Donald leaving Dennis’s apartment (sounds like he lives in Trump Tower) while she was doing the walk of shame with her makeup running down her face from the night before and smelling of alcohol. He recognized her and gave her a kiss. Carole and Dorinda both chastise Tinsley for not voting.

Sonja gets called out for her bizarre and likely fake love triangle. Dorinda and Luanne call out Frenchie for being an actor who only shows up for filming. Sonja swears that it’s the real deal and that after filming she and her daughter went to Paris and then she went to Burgundy for ten days and met his family. Her daughter likes Frenchie. Dorinda says Rocco is a friend of many years of Sonja’s. Sonja says that Frenchie want children.

It’s time for the Bethenny show. By the way, she and Dennis are back together now. Bethenny says that she has been going to therapy because she has problems letting people get close to her. Andy asks about the stalking charges and Ramona chimes in bringing up Bryn again. Bethenny tells Ramona she doesn’t want to talk to her about it. Bethenny has spent $3 million in legal fees. Bryn doesn’t know about the situation between her parents. Bethenny says she has not taken Bryn to meet her mother because every time she has contact and gets ready to do something like that her mother goes to the press and trash talks her.

When Bethenny is trying to answer a question about the divorce and how difficult it was and Ramona, who Bethenny has now told twice to not speak on the subject talks right over her to discuss her divorce from Marion. She literally doesn’t have an ounce of compassion in her. Bethenny breaks own into tears. She said it is such torture she didn’t even know how to share the information with her cast mates.

This reunion is focusing a lot on all the bad things. Tinsley who has found the man of her dreams, was just sort of glossed over. Luann was bashed for a full hour. Andy just keeps asking about Jason. Ramona keeps piping up.

Next week: More crappy behavior from Sonja and Ramona.

Carol somehow felt the need to talk for everybody. I usually like her okay but she got on my last good nerve tonight. Real tired of her thinking she’s a political Wiz. Bethany will always be my favorite.

Agreed, she has a background to draw on whereas Ramona reads the NY Post everyday and thinks she’s informed lol But seriously, they are all entitled to their opinions, I just think Carole was a tad intolerant of Ramona because she’s Ramona.

I have to say, if refusing to say who you voted for + a trump vote, I am shocked Sonja and Luann voted for him, Luann especially. She did not strike me as the type of woman to suffer a man like that, with all her talk about class, elegance, respect, etc. He is the opposite of all of that, but I digress. Poor Carole looked stricken lol

I think tinsley did a good job of being authentic and honest about her situation and how she was coping by drinking too much, etc., I don’t think she’s an alcoholic, she just went through a bad patch. I’m happy she’s found Scott.

I’m also happy bethenny and Dennis are back together. If they are truly in love with each other, they deserve it. Kudos to her for continuing to work on herself and try to change behaviors and habits, it’s not easy at any age let alone as a grown, middle-aged woman. Hopefully she can finally have a reciprocal, healthy relationship.

I think LuAnne is totally the type to put up with a crude man! Tom was always saying rude and disrespectful things to/about Lu ON CAMERA! Imagine what he was like in private! He also cheated on her left and right. Sounds like he and Trump would get along swimmingly. And sorry but she IS gag levels of pretentious! Enough with the penthouses and yachts and Palm Beach/West Palm or whatever.
But what gets me the most is Tinsley not voting at all! “It’s, like, not my thinggggg” (long annoying vocal fry) Really Tinsley? Democracy is not your thing? Shameful. Women fought hard for the rights we have today. The least her pampered ass can do is vote every 4 years. I really do like Tinsley and Lu and agree Lu had it rough with that bitch Andy going after her the last 2 seasons, but I think they often get a pass on their shallowness and vanity jus because they aren’t as loud and obnoxious as Ramona and Sonja.
Also, that pic of those two checking their tits is everything!

            *****************************************************

See I totally disagree with that. If someone isn’t interested and doesn’t do the research, he or she probably should NOT vote. Otherwise, they will just go vote for who their friends do, or be bullied into voting for who the “in crowd” (i.e., loudest) says to vote for and they aren’t really making a choice — they’re following a fad. Better not to vote at all.
Also, choosing NOT to vote is a valid choice. Tinsley’s vote is owned by her — and her alone — not you, not me, not anyone else. If she doesn’t want to vote Carole, Dorinda and other have no right to be upset about it, belittle her, etc. It’s HER vote and she can do what she wants with it — including NOT voting.
Gah — I’m so bored with the condescending attitude of people acting like they’re saving the world by voting. Sure, it’s a good citizenship thing to do, but it doesn’t take the place of action. My grandfather joined the US Navy when he was 17 years old and fought in WW2. He went on to serve in the military for 30 years before retiring at 47 and going into the private sector he didn’t vote a day in his life because he didn’t ever like his choices. And I guarantee you that he did more for this country than you or Carole or Dorinda could ever hope to do.

You guarantee you grandfather did more for this country than the other poster or carole or Dorinda? Are you the only person whose grandpappy served that you make such a blanket statement. My grandmother got her fucking head bashed in for daring to walk down a street demanding the right to vote. I can guarantee you she gave up more for you to vote than your grandfather who pissed the right away. Get a grip.

Nell, that is a good point, but I guess I was thinking Lu didn’t realize how disrespectful and crass Tom was until she was already with/in love with him, hence the excuses. She wasn’t “in love” with Trump so I’m surprised she’d tolerate and co-sign the behavior. But you definitely raise an excellent point 🙂

And you are implying Hillary Clinton has CLASS???????? I think not. Educate yourself a little. Pick up a few books about her and read them. I’ve been to Bill’s office in Ar when he was Governor and socialized with them on 5 or 6 occasions and I can vouch that neither of them have one ounce of class in their little finger. To know them is not to love them for sure.

Thank you ericzku, I made no comments about hillary, nobody wants to have that argument anymore. I obviously feel she was a better choice than trump because he was a complete non starter for me. Never happen, For all the reasons I listed and a bunch more…but it came up because i was surprised Luann would co-sign such a person. Very surprised. I did not intend to go line by line about each candidate.

            Amanda Elles:

Shae wasn’t implying ANYTHING about Hillary Clinton. Neither her name nor her characteristics were mentioned in that comment.

Interesting that a criticism of Trump brings out from you a reflexive criticism of Hillary. Perfect example of binary thinking at its worst. If thing A is bad, then thing B must be good. How incredibly simple-minded.

This may blow your walnut-sized mind, but whether Hillary has tons of class, no class at all, or anything in between, it does not change what Trump is. Trump is the most boorish, ignorant, classless, immature prig to come within miles of the White House in the nation’s history. And that’s true no matter the level of “class” that Hillary Clinton may or may not have.

Educate myself a little? How patronizing lol. In my eyes, it’s virtually impossible to have less class than Donald Trump, he is the living, breathing antithesis of the very word. So, the bar is set very low here.

I was not commenting on the Clintons in my original post, but here goes, I do not doubt they are flawed people and may have done all the things you say, but even still, they are heads and shoulders above that horrid excuse for a human being, Trump. That is where he stands with me, the lowest of the low, then she shocks me still by going even lower.

So, we agree to disagree and carry on as adults do 🙂

Count me in with those that agreed with Bethenny ( for once), that the choices in the Presidential election were dismal. Voting for Clinton would have been more of the same power hungry corrupt career politicians. I am quite aware of who and what Trump is, but consider him a necessary step to change things in government.

The only thing clear is that you have a very strong opinion about one person over the other. There are many Hillary voters who will not say so, and who re profoundly embarrassed by her as well. Sorry about that explosion in your head. 50% of the nation’s voters voted one way, 50% voted another. we all need t be ore respectful of one another.
I was surprised by the comments earlier- I thought this group agreed after that terrific conversation we had over the days after the election, that we were going to be acknowledge that people on both sides who were commenting here seemed to feel we had more that we agreed on than divided us in basic desires and -concerns, we knew the facts we were presented with were being distorted, and we’d work to be more open to hearing each other.

This conversation makes it clear some feel there is no”right” except to assume one side is all bad, and someone said, there can be only one side for women.
I’m very sorry we are back to this place.

I too felt Carole had made up her mind, and there was only one side, hers, and no one else could be right. She ascribed it all to her background , which was ok, except she denied that anyone without her background could possibly know enough to have a legitimate point of view. It was a snobbish, arrogant and quite limited

I disagree. The only person’s opinion she disparaged was Ramona’s because she felt she had a skewed idea of what being “informed” was. She had trump supporter friends, Dorinda didn’t have her background, neither did Bethenny, and she did not invalidate their views.

Only proves that she is ignorant, uninformed and a useless member of society. Tells me she is the type that would sell her vote.

Carole can be funny, but she’s often smug, posturing from an elite, above-it-all point of view. She is no political expert. Just a former TV producer with a rigid opinion. If I heard or sensed any nuance in anything she says politically, I would consider she possibly knows more than someone who watches CNN. But the truth is she is a classic Champagne liberal, living in a bubble while preaching to the little people about the error of their ways. I meet her kind every day in NYC.

The thing is, I didn’t see anyone try to engage with Carole on the issues – I suspect she would have welcomed the opportunity to debate with well-informed peers on the issues, but all she got was dismissal from her good friend Bethenny, avoidance from most of the others, and moronic throwaway comments from Ramona like “it’ll be interesting to see what comes from these emails” or “my friend Donald can’t molest women because he’s a germaphobe”.

I mean, how was she supposed to show nuance or respond to arguments from the other side when *that* is the best they have to offer?

truth. Nobody wanted to engage in a real discussion. Albeit, they were probably tired of the issue (Bethenny) but you can’t express your “nuanced” opinions or delve deeply into conversations other people don’t wish to have with you.
I’m sure if Ramona had approached her and asked for her opinion and take on things, given her background, she would’ve found Carole to be receptive. Presuming to be equally informed as carole because you read “the papers”, is not going to get you the same reaction lol

Exactly. I completely understand Carole’s assertion that she’s better informed on politics than the average voter. I studied PPE at Oxford, so I’d say the same thing – the average voter might have read the newspapers and have a grasp of the issues, but they won’t put them into the same historical context or relate them to the global picture in the same way that my mind does.

Likewise, other people know lots of things that I don’t. When I hire a plumber, I don’t tell him how to fix the pipes.

            • tamaratattles says

              August 24, 2017 at 2:10 pm

If Carole is so smart and informed on politics it should be easy for her to take the time to educate an idiot like Ramona. When she and her mother were knocking on doors for Hillary, was her spiel to say, “Hi, my name is Carole Radziwill, I won some awards while working on some TV news shows in the 1990s so I know more than you do about the 2016 elections. I’m here to tell you to vote for Hillary because you are too stupid to figure this out for yourself?”

Carole didn’t want to engage in conversation with anyone about politics. She wanted them to vote for who she thinks is the best candidate based on her perceived superiority in deciding between two candidates.

I don’t think Carole thinks, “She’s better than the others” I think she finds the other women ridiculous at times and watches them quite amused. I know I do.
I think this season was the first time she ever mentioned attending a society event and I don’t think it has anything to do with her enjoying a relationship with Tinsley. I think you’re way off base. Tinsley is cute, Carole needed a new friend on the show and took her under her wing.

Her mother didn’t start it? ARe you sure, by being an atrocious mother for her whole life? Granted, I believe bethenny’s mom is very ill. Suicide attempts, eating disorders, domestic violence, etc are not hallmarks of a well person, but Bethenny does not trash her mother constantly, Bethenny does not even discuss her mother often. She’ll refer to her chaotic upbringing, her crazy house, she’s not runnign to the tabloids planting stories about the horrors of her mother. if you’ve read her books, you got her unfiltered story there, and yes her mother was discussed at length. But that is bethenny’s right, to tell her story and her mother’s illness in her youth is a big part of it.

The only time I heard mention of bethenny’s mom this season was when she said jason tried to hurt her by calling her by her mother’s name and saying she was a bad mom. Other than that, just at the reunion where andy pointedly asked if she’d been to see her mother with bryn.

I fail to see how Bethenny began or perpetuates this with her mother. Her mom is unstable and needs to stop.

Ok heard Carole speaking of what she witnessed at Bethrnys when questions were asked and Betheny was unable to speak for herself. Carole described calmly how disrespectful Jason had been to Betheny when she was with her. It gave Betheny time to compose herself.
I thought I was watching a great friend being supportive.
Carole has the aloof air only sometimes I think because she simply doesn’t get involved in so much of the little crap the other women do. To that, she is above most of if.
As to a NYC liberal attitude, really? I don’t hear her preaching, I’ve missed episodes so maybe I missed that. She knows as most of us do, when we are being judged and are found to be lacking or disapproved of, I do. Guessing the judgement happens before people meet her.

A one bedroom on the top floor of an NYC building can be very nice. However, to call it “a penthouse” without trying to make a joke is WILDLY pretentious. People with truly impressive apartments (or townhouses like Sonja) simply never refer to their NYC homes like that. Luann is the height of pretense — and I am very glad Tinsley called her out on it when she was incessantly talking about “Palm Beach.”

While I don’t know Florida like I know Manhattan, I am sure Tinsley does and her distinction about “West Palm Beach” would have been somewhat rude if it had been directed at anyone but LuAnn. That girl is pretense personified.

Calling a penthouse a penthouse is not wildly pretentious.

Page Six calls it a penthouse.

The Bravo Video tour calls it a Penthouse.

        http://www.bravotv.com/the-real-housewives-of-new-york-city/season-9/videos/tour-luanns-new-penthouse-apartment

Dorinda referred to it as a penthouse on tonight’s episode.

It meets the definition of a penthouse.

an apartment on the top floor of a tall building, typically luxuriously fitted and offering fine views.

The only people ranting about it not being a penthouse are people that enjoy tormenting Luann and Bethenny who does not have a penthouse.

Pretense. This from Bethenny who flaunts her wealth at every opportunity. You can read the DM without a bikini pic of Bethenny in front of her Hampton’s home, same shot on a Mexican vacation, a trip to Europe-this week it’s Ibiza.
Did we need to hear that she’s spent $3 million on legal fee’s and how, “hard” she had to work to get that money?
She calls LuAnn thirsty but it’s Bethenny who’s in every two bit rag on the stands each week and every online site. She calls the photogs to take pic’s on the beach down the street from her home.
And Fuck her, I’m sick of her thinking she can control the content of the conversation, the show-Control Freak. She needs to get a grip and let people live their lives.

To be fair, yes, it meets the literal definition. But as a native ny’er, if someone told me they lived in a penthouse, or had a penthouse for sale, etc. a one bedroom apt is not what you would be expecting to see.

There are very tall buildings in ny that are like glorified college dorms, the people on the top floor of those have the “penthouse” there, too, I guess.

Now I don’t really care what Luann wants to call it, doesn’t bother me, but that’s my .02.

Bravo could have just edited out all of Luann’s defending of Tom since we all know the marriage failed but of course they want to show every word. Yes Luann was ridiculous at times the last couple of season but the humiliation campaign is enough and I say as someone who’s never been a Luann fan.

Ramona did invite Missy to practically every event this season and probably would’ve invited her to Mexico if production had allowed it. I believe Ramona, like Bethenny, never forgets an offense and in season 4 cast trip to Morocco when Luann translated for that medium who exposed Mario’s affairs Ramona never forgot that and I think that explains part of the glee on Ramona’s face with rubbing Tom’s foolery in Luann’s face.

Luann skillfully placed that shade on Sonja about Frenchie who I’ve been saying reminds of Fredric the fraud from 1st season of RHOBH. Like Luann and Carole were quick to point out he seemed primed for the cameras and I think it was Carole or Dorinda that actually used the word “cast” when talking about him. If Sonja’s back next season she needs be the light and bright Sonja of season 3, don’t like who I saw this season.

Tinsley is handling her 1st reunion like a champ. I loved her honestly and composure when talking about her past relationship and drinking. She seems to be good with all of the women which maybe be part of what was bothering Sonja this season.

So it appears that Ramona(not a shock), Sonja and Luann voted for Trump. I could see why they would be embarrassed to admit that now.

It’s obvious since Bethenny can’t legally talk about her case so Carole has agreed to do her dirty work and say that Bethenny is a great mother and who knows what Jason is telling their daughter, etc. SHUT UP CAROLE. If Bethenny was such a great mother, she would stop talking about the father of her child at all. “Tortue” my ass. Bethenny is pathetic. No wonder all her relationships go up in flames.

Just want to say that it is unfair to conclude that because Ramona, Sonja, and LuAnn did not disclose who they voted for, it must mean they voted for Trump. To take an example, I know my mother’s politics very well, and I am 99.99% certain who she voted for, but she would never tell me or anyone. She believes that who you vote for is a private thing and that you should keep it to yourself. That doesn’t necessarily mean the three women agree with that sentiment, but it’s at least as reasonable to conclude that than it is to conclude that “it must mean they voted for Trump.” Also, they could have voted third party. Gary Johnson and Jill Stein got around 4% of the vote in New York state.

Right, but I said “if” a refusal to say = a vote for trump, then I’m surprised. I don’t think any of those ladies share your mother’s sensibilities about privacy. My parents wer ethe same way about voting when I was young, but now they share with me freely. I don’t think they voted for Stein, either, they’d probably just admit that. My comment wasn’t really directed at you personally, just the implied notion (stated by Carole during the reunion) that not disclosing who you voted for meant you voted for Trump. That said, it doesn’t really matter. New York was always safely in the Hillary camp. She won the state by 60%. Also why it didn’t really matter one way or the other if Tinsley voted. And Ramona did say during the season that she was not voting for either of them and that she thought they “both sucked,” so I think it’s entirely possible she voted third party. Of course, I have no clue. And don’t really care.

I think the problem is that there is a difference between “know[ing] more about politics than Joe Public” and believing that you’re political opinions are therefor more right than somebody else’s. A lot of political questions are about more than just having an array of facts. There are plenty of people who are just as and more informed than Carole politically, yet they have a completely different set of political opinions than her. Whether one is liberal/conservative, Democrat/Republican, or somewhere in-between is not just a question of empirical facts. It involves things like ones worldview, ones view of human nature, ones particular moral and ethical priorities, etc. There isn’t really a way to be “right” or “wrong” on these questions in the traditional sense of those words.

I’m a little tired of hearing that Carole is politically knowledgeable, therefore she “knows” who is the right candidate. The reason nobody wanted to engage with her about politics was she either wasn’t interested in trading opinions about the merits of any particular policy, which is what hiring the CEO of the most powerful nation on Earth is about (if you’re so bloody smart and informed). She was a raw nerve, spewing insults and emotion at anybody that didn’t agree with her. Her words weren’t “informed” or rational, they were incendiary. Did she ever once contrast policy between the candidates? Nope. She made fun of Trump’s looks, exaggerated and lied about comments he had supposedly made, and was rooting for the women largely because she thinks being a women is a qualification rather than incidental to the job. There’s nothing smart or informed about yelling racist, bigot, homophobe at people instead of debating rationally about what policies work and why.

That is so off the mark, Carole insulted people, who? Telling Ramona she feels she is better informed than she is is insulting? She didn’t say she “knows” who is the “right” candidate, there is no “right” candidate, just your choice, but she definitely felt Trump was an acceptable choice given his lack of experience, disrespect for others, temperament, etc. There was nobody who openly supported Trump to trade “policy” points with, plus, Trump had little to no policy in his campaign, all bluster, all rhetoric, all changeable talking points and insults. It’s extremely hard to debate the finer points of policy when there aren’t any beyond “build a wall and make mexico pay for it” lol

It’s totally fine to make fun of trump’s looks because he earns that by mocking everyone else’s first, he makes it all superficial and in the gutter. Nothing she said about his words was miscontrued or exaggerated, it was all on tape. The man has a habit of saying outrageous things then pretending it’s not all on film.

I would love for you and other trump supporters (if you are) to convey that point about yelling vs. healthy, respectful debate to our president, he missed that memo.

I don’t think Carole thought being a *woman was a primary qualification rather than being suited for the job, that’s foolish. She clearly thought Hillary was qualified and it was an added bonus she would’ve been the first woman president had she won.

I am crushing on Shae right now. 😉

In other news, I don’t ascribe to the idea that your vote is public information. My family was naturally private about that, at least to the general public. Also, who knows if that trio even voted? Lu was preoccupied; Sonja was probably out of the country; Ramona was probably busy tracking down Tom’s women “associates” between here and China. Maybe they were embarrassed to say they hadn’t bothered. A lot of folks weren’t pleased with any of the choices and just stayed home.

      DebBrenn:

If you believe the words you wrote, I’m going to guess that you didn’t watch the show. The person you are describing bears NO resemblance to the one shown on TV.

And “You must tolerate my bigotry, otherwise you yourself are a bigot too” isn’t a thing, despite how hard the right wing is pushing that rationale lately. Sorry, not sorry.

I don’t blame the ones who didn’t want to say who they voted for. Trump supporters send death threats for the dumbest things — and Bernie Bros are almost as bad. So if you voted for Hillary and talk about it on TV, some rando might start talking about raping your teenage daughter or something. (For real).

I am hesitant to write this, because I do not want the comment thread to descend into a political debate, but I think if you compare the amount of actual violence directed at Hillary supporters versus the violence directed at Trump supporters, you will find the latter far outnumbers the former. And that’s not an argument for one side or the other. Whoever you support politically, everyone should abide by a basic moral standard that it is not right to commit violence against someone because of their political opinions.

The only Trumpers-as-victims stories I ever see always seem to get debunked as stunts to make liberals look bad.

But to make it more politically correct and non-specific — I don’t blame anyone for not saying who they voted for, because it’s very ugly out there right now.

I tried to include a link to YouTub but apparently it didn’t work (or perhaps is not permitted). In any event, search for the San Jose rally where Trump supporters were leaving the rally and physically attacked, including a woman who was pelted with food and eggs and had insults hurled at her.

Totally forgot Tinsley mentioning her dad was an alcoholic (I’m rewatching the entire season to remind myself what they’re fighting about at the reunion). That sort of puts her breakfast cocktails in a new perspective.

I thought they needed to get off her jock about the drinking, but now I wonder….

My fav part was Radziwell chastising Tinsley for not voting. What would a “IT girl” know about current political issues. Its hilarious that Carole doesn’t comprehend that people have the right to be uninterested in politics. Just cracks me up!

People have the right to be as interested or uninterested as they want, I think she was merely shocked at HOW uninterested Tinsley was and how pathetically she voiced her position, “it’s just not my thingggg”. It did sound awful.

I know people who actively choose not to vote in protest, or who have reasons for being uninvolved, they feel it’s a sham, your vote doesn’t count, etc., and while i don’t agree with them, I see their reasons for choosing to stay out of the process. They have thought about it, and decided. Tinsley was just whining “I’m just not that into it”, that, to me, is pretty awful. Like, women died for you to have the right to participate in issues that matter to everyone, and the best you can muster is that you don’t care because it’s not your thing?

Maybe she didn’t mean to voice it that way, but it came out terribly.

bethenny’s tears and saying how she’s been tortured and tormented constantly by jason is wrong on tv. she’s telling him he’s gotten to her which is exactly what he wants! she also said she put dennis on hold due to her divorce issues and his — again jason wants to make her life a living hell and she has let him know it’s working. also tired of her chiming in on everything anyone says like she is the final word on everyone and every subject.
