It was called The Garden Tour, a tour of the gardens of six properties, Dorinda’s included. I found out about it THIS MORNING over breakfast and freaked out. Originally I had wanted to just drive by her house and here TODAY on the day we are in town, ONCE ONLY this year that I know of, The Garden Tour!

But the site said the tickets to the full tour were sold out. It also said we could still visit Dorinda’s property for $60/ person and if interested to be a Simon’s Rock, Bard College, Great Barrington from 1-2:45 for the bus service. We got there at around 1:15. I asked about the full tour and was told it had indeed been sold out, that the owners were only allowing a total of 500 people at the properties,

My husband and I were only supposed to visit Dorinda’s house but the organizers were quite disorganized and we ended up seeing 3 other houses before Dorinda’s. I was in heaven with all the gardens but my husband was not. The ticket money was going all to more garden related functions in the area. The property owners were NOT getting paid for allowing their homes to opened to the public.
One of the volunteers told us that yesterday when the organizers visited the properties for the pre-tour, Dorinda was at her house changing a light bulb, that she is always kind and very down to earth.
Oh one more thing, yesterday we dined at The Red Lion Inn which was the place Dorinda worked at as a waitress years ago. Stockbridge is absolutely gorgeous. We also visited the Botanical Gardens and The Norman Rockwell Museum.
A huge thanks to our spy for this event. And if you see something, say something! [email protected]
Sounds like a great day. Everyone wants to go to the Berkshires to visit Dorinda! Awesome. 🙂
Dorinda posts pics of her home and grounds on her Instagram story all the time and it looks sooooo beautiful!
Thanks to the spy for the tiptoe through the tulips. Dorinda has set her roots deep into mother earth. Everything’s coming up roses is pleasant to our noses.

Home and garden tours are great fundraisers for charities. Setting them up is a lot of work for the homeowner. Very nice for Dorinda to open her grounds to people for a good cause.

Hi! And thank you all for the comments. I just love this blog and am honored to be able to contribute in any way. The opportunity to visit Dorinda’s property was a last minute surprise, but meeting her and John, oh such a treat! They were absolutely lovely and friendly and looked very much in love. Dorinda is sooo petite and pretty with a beautiful smile!
Sounds like a wonderful day! And love, love, love Dorinda! That is a great picture of her and John.
Lovely day, so very nice. TD has found a captive audience that appreciates him. XOX
I’m not captive, and nonsensical spam makes me feel the need for a new commenting rule. The occaisional whackdoodle post is one thing…
