Real Housewives of New York: Oil and Vinegar

July 12, 2017 by tamaratattles 148 Comments

The RHONY reunion filmed today, and I’ve got a few photos to share later. I’ve been trying to find out how things went but I don’t think it is really a secret. There were a whole lot of bitch fights on this season and you can expect them to continue on the reunion. Sonja is on WWHL tonight with Steve Gold. I probably won’t get to that until tomorrow.  Let’s see what tonight holds for us.

We start with Bethenny getting briefed about “the trip she is planning” to Mexico by her staff who have received the itinerary from Bravo. As we do on these housewives show, there is always a token housewife who claim that she made the tacos and selected the margaritas and hired the helicopters and paid for the whole shebang. The fact that the assistant is reading the actual Bravo email to Bethenny amuses me.

Luann meets Ramona at some kitchen store to let her know that she will be traveling to Mexico with with her for an abbreviated stay. Ramona said that she sent Bethenny a text about the Jason situation telling her that know one should have to go through that and she is thinking of her. Bethenny says she just wants an amicable breakup with Ramona. Ramona doesn’t make that possible. Ramona doesn’t even want to apologize this time, she just wants Bethenny to just forgive her.  Bethenny doesn’t care if Ramona comes, but she does not want her there on the day they go the factory where he business partners will be.

I refuse to recap any more vaginal procedures on these women.

Dorinda has invited all the women to dinner at a brand new steak house in hopes of mending fences prior to Mexico. This never works. Carole says that she is fixing Tinsley up with Scott Tinsley. He is flying in to take her out on Saturday night. Tinsley is excited.  If Carole knows this guy, why is she showing the same photo I showed y’all which was one of the few on the Internet and quite old. Who the hell arranged this date really?

Luann is the last to arrive and announces that she has shifted her schedule to be in Mexico for the entire trip. So now, Bethenny has to invite Ramona. I just reread that last link and it is clear the distillery was filmed on the last full day so Ramona would have been there anyway. So this is all just a big build up to Ramona making an ass of herself at the distillery. Also the helicopter ride was kind of touch and go do to the bad weather that day so the distillery visit planned shit show went off the charts bad.

Tinsley announces that she is moving into a hotel because Eloise is her favorite book. I sort of get that. I love long hotel stays. Sonja didn’t know that Tinsley was moving into the hotel. Tinsley wants two months to sort of figure things out away from Sonja.

It’s time for Bethenny to rip off the band-aid and invite Ramona to Mexico. She points out that Ramona has been very disparaging to her brand, show she doesn’t feel comfortable inviting her to the “business portion” of the trip to Mexico. Ramona says that Bethenny has said a lot of mean things about her business as well. Ramona says that Bethenny said that she only sold 500 bottles of wine last year. I have noticed that Ramona isn’t showing up with Pinot Grigio anymore and has been drinking red wine lately but I just assumed that was because Pinot Grigio is a summer wine. Ramona loses her mind about her divorce and having to give her husband half of her business assets and how her marriage fell apart after thirty years and Bethenny was only married for two.  Evil Ramona has been unleashed.

She says that losing her 30 year marriage cut out her heart, her arms, her legs… and that Bethenny should have more respect for her. Really, Ramona? You are one of the main reasons I’m team Bethenny this season. Ramona screams it is not always about you.

Bethenny says she takes it back. She doesn’t want her to come on the trip. I hope she sticks to this because I don’t want her on the show anymore. She’s just awful. Ramona says it is a group trip so she is coming. She won’t go to the tequila part but its a group trip and she is coming. She says Bethenny can dish it out but she can’t take it. Ramona tries to tell a heartfelt story about how Bethenny and Carole are in one of only three photos in her apartment.  Bethenny shuts that down right away by telling her that the waterworks hold no interest for her.

I can’t keep recapping this Ramona nonsense. It’s the same thing every time. The title of the episode is Oil and Vinegar because Ramona says that is how they are together. Bethenny tries to correct her, but Ramona is not listening to anything. Bethenny says that they should just agree not to say nasty things about each other.

Carole, Adam and Tinsley’s new boyfriend Scott are awaiting her arrival at an upscale bar. Carole says, “What if you fall in love?” and well, things are still going strong!  She was just in Chicago with him last month and it seems like he is they type of guy who would keep her grounded. Carole tells Scott that Tins has a “wooden tutu.” Apparently, she thinks that is a funny way to say she can hold her liquor. I don’t get it and neither to Adam or Scott despite her long-winded explanation about why it is funny.  Tinsley and Scott seem to hit is off right away. I am so happy for Tinsley!  The both like to drink Titos and their birthdays are two days apart. Tinsley is very, um exuberant and he doesn’t seem to mind. Carole wants to tell Scott Tinsley’s story instead of letting her tell it.

Tinsley talks about her exes too much. She pointed out she still wears the gold band from her starter marriage on her pinky finger. Tinsley drinks too much. Carole drags Tinsley off to get her to tone it down. Tinsley has never been on a blind date and she is nervous and drunk. Tinsley took of the wedding right after Scott made a comment about it. These two are going to be great together. Scott gives her a big hug and Tinsley starts making out with him.

Lastly, we get the packing scenes out of the way for next week’s trip to Mexico. I still can’t believe Dorinda has never been to Mexico.

Next week: It’s Hola Mexico and the drunken make-outs, drunken toasts and drunken fights will be epic.

I’m shocked that this show isn’t called “Bethenny In The City” because it feels like this show is centered around her featuring appearances from Ramona, Carole, Dorinda, Luann and guest appearances from Sonya and Tinsley. It’s a huge disconnect for me with this New York franchise and Andy only worships this city for some reason. Not even a recast can save this boring mess, even Luann’s wedding segment in the previous episodes felt like something separate from the show, it’s so weird. Out of all the franchises I have no favorites from this show that I can stan for like the others, to many women with no storylines.

I think this is why Ramona has such a problem with Bethenny – B is the de facto star of the show. And every damn thing that happens to Bethenny’s is described with superlatives, whether the issue merits the attention or not. Messy, acrimonious divorce, yes, the attention is deserved. Fibroids and random bleeding from the lady bits, not so much. Bethenny sucks the air out of every room she is in, and the other women need to suck up to her in order to get camera time. Ramona is over it and her rage is not just leaking out, but erupting,

I don’t like Ramona, and I think she is in the wrong for how she treats Bethenny, but I understand what is fueling the dynamic.

It’s Bethenny’s world and everyone else is just living in it! Ramona is horrible this season… but bethenny wasn’t much better last year, she just learned to tone it down so it wouldn’t hurt her brand. A lot of what Ramona says about BETHANY is true!!

Bethenny can hardly contain her smirks when Ramona goes off the rails. She knows it guarantees more camera time for herself, and therefore more opportunities to schlep her brand. She is playing nice this season, but she is the Vanderpump of NYC.

Agreed! I think Ramona is over the Bethany show. And so am I. if I have to see one more crappy skinny girl reference, I’m going to hurl.

Carole has done a 180 and she’s likable this season.

The only reason to watch is Dorinda. She’s a riot.

I agree with the fact of this show being about Bethenny, and her “friends”. I noticed a couple weeks ago, and started realizing how it has become exactly that.
Just began this episode, but she is the focus.
I don’t like that it’s beginning to look like the cast accepts it.
      I’d be pissed.

Hello Tamara, Ramona confuses me, its as though she only hears one word someone says to her and she focuses on that. Bethany was calmly speaking with her and she goes into her lost marriage, what the F. What did loosing her husband have to do with Mexico and I thought she was over the husband thing, I am so over Tinsley kissing and Tinsley totally dresses like a debutante not a forty year old woman, I need her to grow up and fast.I have no idea what the rest of the show was about I am ready for Mexico.

I can’t believe the nerve of these women to be so insistent that Tinsley should cut her hair, die her hair, and change her style of dress. I would not hang out with people like that. It’s one thing to say “I think you would look great with short hair!” or let’s go shopping and buy an outfit outside our comfort zone, I’ll pick yours, you pick mine!” But their condescension and rudeness is unacceptable.

And if you look closely at how they want Tinsley to reinvent herself, it is all superficial physical stuff, like her hair, her clothes and her address — rather than to take a class, explore spirituality, express creativity.

The way that gang treats Tinsley is the worst way older women can treat younger ones: with harsh judgments, incessant criticism, and a superior attitude. If they were truly kind they could express understanding and empathy, two things all older women OWE younger ones.

That’s the whole point of the joke – you would normally say wooden leg, or I guess hollow leg if you didn’t get the inference, but since Tinsley is so girly/upper east side, her joke is that it’s a wooden tutu. I guess she could have explained it better but it’s pretty obvious.

Wooden leg is wrong. Wooden Tutu is just RE TODD DID.

Back in like 2010, my Mom said she was having breast reduction surgery but lied, she had a full face lift. Like the kind where they remove your entire face and give you someone else’s. But since she was a model in the 70s she kept saying it was an “ear tuck.” She looked like someone had smashed her entire head through the front of a car for about 8 weeks, then she emerged and looked gorgeous. To this day she denies she had anything done even though I took care of the 10 drains in her face. This is why I drink.

Ramona is just a ridiculous mess and an exaggerator to boot. Her 30 year marriage was only 21 years. Granted, it’s a serious investment of time and emotional commitment but still. She may have had to give Mario half of her business assets but she got the Park Avenue apartment and a pile of cash. She is too lost and it is just a bad look on a 60 year old.

Can we really even count the marriage at 21 years given Mario was stepping out half the time? Bitter is ugly – and no amount of plastic surgery can fix that ugliness. I’m not quite sure how Bethenny heard a single word Ramona said – the way her face contorted and spots moved on the left which were frozen on the right with one eye bugging and the other rolling inward…..it was fascinating; like watching an amazing horror movie transformation from human to beast!

RHONY is circling the drain. Sonja’s sad attempt at drumming up drama by way of her embarrassing treatment of Tinsley was just desperate and inauthentic. Don’t get me started on Frenchie. Ramona appears to have realized this is the Bethenny show and her seething resentment and jealously is now manifesting as pure psychotic rage-which her new face is NOT helping. Carole is blahblahBORING, serving as Bethenny’s henchman, “spilling” the news Bethenny can’t due to her ongoing battle with Hoppy. Luann is a broken record-being married IS NOT A STORYLINE.
Dorinda is the ONLY reason I still watch the show, but if it continues on like this even she can not save it from its own demise.
I’ve never particularly liked Bethenny but Ramona’s tiring psychosis actually puts me on Bethenny’s side as you would have to have rocks between your ears to actually agree with Ramona’s behavior. If only Ramona went about her campaign with a touch of class & intelligence, she would’ve been WAY more successful. But now she has hit the point of no return-someone put us out of our misery and axe her. I would LOVE to see the deflation of her “celebrity” ego and send her on search of an actual job…

We haven’t heard anything about Ramona and Sonja working in a quite a while-bet their Bravo paychecks are their main source of income. So then they have to manufacture crap to stay relevant on the show.

I do so wish Bravo would set them both adrift on an ice floe in Antarctica far, far from civilization.

This episode seemed pretty boring. Regarding Bethenny and Ramona, I always feel as if they are flip sides of the same person. Both controllong, both Scorpios and they fight to the death. Where Bethenny is cold and gives freezer burn, Ramona will flambe’ you. The way Bethenny lashed out at Tinsley for daring to look at the “queen” was not pretty. And it does feel as if Bethenny is the queen on the show and that everything revolves around her and her business ventures and that everyone has to make sure they are on her good side. Imo, that is annoying and sort of ruining the show. Tinsley and Scott are very cute together. And yeah, those vaginal whatevers that they insist on laying out are so nasty and so crude.

Well said about everything. I feel that Bethany usually makes more sense in her conflicts with others. And Ramona has big time trouble expressing herself and identifying what she’s mad about. But, Bethany can be so heartless, no empathy! I know exactly what Ramona was mad at Bethany about. When Bethany was sick last season Ramona was a caretaker, then the season ended and Bethany blew her off. Ramona was hurt, she felt unappreciated and rejected. She wanted more contact over the summer. Lol. It seems silly, but if Ramona could have only used her words correctly she may have won this arguement.

I don’t think everyone has to be on her good side, she’s not a huge fan of Luann and they manage to be civil, and she wants the same from Ramona, just to be left alone or be civil when they need to be around each other. Crazy Ramona keeps texting her and still has no idea wtf she said in her blackout and has no real remorse. She still acts like she was attacked . Someone stating they don’t think you’ve been a great friend to them isn’t an attack, and Bethenny was right to say it to her.

In the early days, I was a big Bethenny fan, seeing her as the hardworking underdog in a group of snooty socialites. And she does have a great wit ! Regarding Tinsley (who is cute and harmless and imo, upon reflection, needs to be forgiven her sometimes childishness because, gosh, she is never deliberately unkind), Bethenny did apologize – but to save her image which she is trying to soften after last season, because it was not good for her business. She also lashed out at Tinsley last week for being too much of a victim – then smoothly apologized with a plug for her pro-women organization – because she knew how bad she looked. As for Bethenny not liking Luann – Bethenny savaged Luann in the Berkshires last year and has to “make nice” in some kind of way. Imo, as much as Ramona can be unlikeable and catty — Bethenny has evolved into as much of a cold-blooded ego-maniac out to rule the world (her new show with Fredrik on top of everything – and this is her second spin-off from Bravo). I think she is driven to out do Martha Stewart as a mogul, as she once indicated. People who are not on her good side do not last long – Jill Zarin and Kelley Bensimone. The other women are aware. I think Bethenny had Luann in her sights – but then Luann got married! Hahaha! Bethenny has probably filed her away for now to be pulled out of the drawer at a later date. Dorinda knows how to play the Bethenny game.

I don’t see what Luann getting married has to do with being in Bethenny’s “sights” per se? I think marriage is probably the last thing Bethenny gives a shit about right now lol

I see your points, I just disagree about her. I don’t find her cold at all, she’s just a product of her experiences and she’s had some shitty ones. She built her business and she looks out for herself and her own, while I don’t agree with her losing her temper with others, I can’t fault her on the rest. Nobody handed anything to her and I don’t blame her for not wanting to take Ramona’s shit.

She was 100% wrong for attacking Luann and regardless of why, she did apologize and didn’t repeat it. That’s more than most will do. I don’t have a fundamental problem with her at all. You need to be kinda ruthless and calculating to succeed in business, she goes too far sometimes, but it also has served her well.

It seems like she aplogized bc not to do so would have really hurt her business, because that is all she is about. Bethenny was out to take Luann down (in her sights) — until Luann got married – which gave Lu a great story line and kept her safe in the franchise. No problem with Bethenny being all business, but so tired of red and white and Skinny Girl everything on the show. I feel as assaulted as by Sonia’s vaginal displays, and both — courtesy of Andy.

I agree on her intent, and her personality, She isn’t cold , but is very careful to protect herself and those she cares about, so she limits her words and showing her feelings for that reason. I know that style is different to some women. But it does reflect her experiences, as Shae said .
Women who are very successful in larger business learn some tough lessons ; one of them is that they can’t show their vulnerable sides, or they are taken advantage of or determined to be weak. IF they show their emotions when making decisions, they are determined to be weak and irrational . I knew, as I succeeded for 35 years in the corporate world as a leading woman executive, that the more successful I was at business management , the less I could be a relaxed female and a boss, at work. I had to keep those parts of my life at home, and the higher I got in the corporation the less time I had at home.

I thought Bethenny was very uncomfortable speaking to Ramona last night, because she had held her tongue, yet had been besieged by a drunk and enraged Ramona for the past three- four events. She had neither defended herself nor attacked her, though she had shared a few of her perceptions. Ramona had become irrational quickly each time. Bethenny was boxed in-she preferred that R not come, didn’t have control of that, and the storyline was that Ramona was out of control and going to make a scene at a business – related event, apparently, during the trip. So B was nervous about the discussion , didn’t want an audience and was frustrated that she was forced to have it at the table, where the other women were listening with all ears. She was trying to see if she could make real progress in talking to Ramona, settling things down. Nothing said with an audience ever settles it – it prompts acting for the audience.

And it went just as she feared- Ramona lost it again and was irrational and nasty to her again, launching attacks and hostility, most of which truly should be leveled at Ramona. She lashed at Tinsely, but I was really about the situation, I think. I too am sure Bethenny apologized for it.

While I certainly agree that Bethenny’s success and friendships have meant she has an influence the others don’t on NY, I don’t agree with the assessment that she is the lady in charge and that all else falls to the side.
It appears to me that we are seeing a low point for a number of the women, which is reflected in what makes its way to film. I don’t believe Sonja has ever been at such an utter loss, on every level. Her entire story and topic for discussion is sex , sex, and men. She sounds lost, and a pitiful remnant of her former self. . Ramona is even worse. She has no control of her alcohol, her emotions, her actions. Any strengths have been decimated by her self indulgence and lack of self control , and I am sure, deep sadness and loss. Too bad she can’t express any of it other than through booze.

Luanne’s story has played out , she has nothing else to focus on, and would keep the bride story going if she could. We all have seen enough to have a pretty good sense of the ending.
I count three with nothing new, different, or exciting to explore., and whose storylines are, sadly, about booze ad licking wounds for two, and starting with questions for the third. Add Carole with little to add or say, save her time with Tinsley, which is constructive .

So there are now three without much meaningful activity to discuss, some with Carole and then Dorinda who also has a booze and drug problem but won’t be seen with her co-partier,John,, and there is more life, more funny stories, more action and input.

Tinsley has brought n fresh new life, a whole new personality with Southern roots and a NY storyline. She moved in with Sonja, laughs, is pretty, charming and generally well intended though she has her moments. But she is new and while being introduced,is less likely to start a rumble or lead much. But she brings fresh life , new ideas and experiences, and fun.

So I don’t think Bethenny is in charge or the only focus- though there is influence, clearly. But I believe she is keeping the difficult parts of her life as private as she can. She can’t help it when it hits the papers. We see bits of her pain and struggle, but her presence/dominance is more a function of where the other cast members are and are not. She is leading a life running a major corporation, raising a child, dating, travelling, doing charity work and founding new business ventures. She is positive and constructive and living an active life.
Their different personalities clearly add a good deal to the stories in general, but I believe this is true-their stories and life activities have a great deal to do with who influences the show or is on more. I think, too ,Bethenny comes across as smart, fast on her feet, and quick witted and to comment. The others are less so, or at least don’t prepare for their encounters, perhaps as it appears she does. Those results also impact how we perceive the discussions went and who comes out of the ahead. Bethenny wins on a lot of those points.

None of this makes Bethenny mean, bad, whatever. She generally keeps her tongue, acts like an adult, and as a feeling person who guards her privacy.
Her active life is roe attractive to the show and her personality more compelling than those who are lost and sad. That’s the difference, as I see it.

I apologize for the length, think she made a mistake unleashing as she did on Luanne last year, but also think she was in her own pain. It was one part of her , certainly, but not all of her, and that the other sides must be given a chance as the other women are.

She appears strong when in contrast to the others, but that is not manipulation or producing, it is the differences in personality and stories that makes some more strong in contrast.
Dorinda has a boyfriend, an active life, and is more positive and giving than taking.
Many of the others have little in their lives save the show, Their only focus is the show so it is natural that, while they search for other topics to film, they revolve around the others they film with, which leads to al the conflict and negativity.

Finally a comment I can totally agree with. Bethany did apologize to Tinsly.
I recall way back, when Luanne invited Bethany to go surfing, Beth readily accepted hoping Luanne was finally reaching out to her in friendship.
Not only was Luanne not reaching out she left Bethany with the surf bill to pay. Beth did but have a lot of money back then.
Bethany did lash out last season and I believe all know why now.
Romona has something very wrong going on. She might be to deep in her own thoughts.

I guess I’m Bethenny’s long lost sister then, because I have done the same exact thing to people staring when I’m having a discussion. Its annoying to be stared at the way Tinsley was when in the midst of a confrontation with someone else.
I’d have said the same thing B did, and I would also probably have apologized for it after – as B did.
Heat of the moment maybe, but shitz happens when people stare.

Ramona is just a bitter old bitch. There are times when she isn’t making deranged faces that I think she is so pretty, then she gets her mad on and she turns evil. Her whole appearance just changes and there is no pretty there anymore, just deranged unhinged anger. Mario didn’t do the crap jason is doing, he was more than willing go away and all. Not saying jason is terrible either but he and Bethenny have this insane hatred of each other. They say there is a fine line between love and hate, that is so obvious with Jason and Bethenny. Tinsly cracks me up, yeah she is a prissy debutant and all but she is also very sweet and can laugh at herself.

I think her heart was broken and to feel alone at a certain age must be awful. I think it made her go from loony to all out nutso. I still feel for her in this regard. I am not sure she ever really dealt with her pain. I wish she would get some help.

I believe I stated that Mario.didnt pull the shit Jason did. I think Mario was in his way out for a very long time and waited until their daughter was older and on her own before doing it. Ramona has never dealt with anything and that is a huge part of her problem, but drinking like a fish and screaming at people does not makes things better. Also we all have heavy shit that happens to us and how we deal with it shows the type of person we are at our core. Not saying Bethenny is a great example either but anger and hatred will not get anyone anywhere.

Agree, it seemed like Mario was way checked out of that marriage long before the was outed for cheating. But Ramona was so self involved she couldn’t see it until it was in page six. Now Ramona has to deal with that fact and obviously she is not, she would rather take out her despair on Bethenny. And I’m a little confused as to why she continues to compare the two marriages as if Bethenny started that, when I don’t recall an instance. Ramona really needs to ground herself and face reality. All this searching for pity will not ultimately fix her own sadness.

Question: Am I imagining it or at the beginning of tonight’s episode, was Dorinda rambling on into her phone about how inspired she was as a young woman seeing Mary Tyler Moore, in a carefree manner, pull the hat she was wearing off of her head and toss it into the Manhattan sky? THIS very scene was the moment when Dorinda realized that she simply HAD TO live in Manhattan.

I realize I’m aging myself, but, wasn’t this toss of the hat from the girl with the worthwhile smile originally orginitated in MN?!?!?

No, you’re not imagining it. I also heard Dorinda say that and laughed. If MTM’s beret toss is the reason that Dorinda went to the city, then she’s in the wrong city! Mary Richards lived in Minneapolis through the entire run of the show. I believe there is even a statue in downtown Minneapolis commemorating that iconic image.

You are absolutely correct that “Mary Tyler Moore” was set in Minneapolis. I believe there is a statue now of Mary tossing her hat in that very spot in downtown Minneapolis where they shot it.

However, I think the reason that split-second of film resonated (and still does) so well with people is that it is such a pure and real expression of happiness and joy, and that is universal. It doesn’t really matter where she was standing.

And I’ve been guilty of this myself. Back in my NYC days, there was once or twice when things had gone very well for me and I said to friends later, “I wanted to go to the middle of Times Square and toss my hat into the air like Mary!”

So I guess TL;DR it’s the sentiment not the details.

My old hometown, Minneapolis, doesn’t have many claims to fame. There’s Prince and um… ok… that’s about it really. So Dorinda darling, give credit where credit is due! It’s nice that Dorinda, as a little girl, was inspired by Miss Mary Richards’ hat toss but apparently she didn’t pay any attention past the opening credits.

I just watched the opening credits for the Mary Tyler Moore show online. It really did make Minneapolis look pretty darn glamorous and cosmopolitan. But they must have bussed in hundreds of extras to make it look busy. I spent hundreds of hours hanging out downtown as a youth and never saw that many people on the street ever, lol.

Don’t forget Husker Du! Without Husker Du, Nirvana (and the dozens of copycat bands) would have never existed. The local music scene was amazing back in the 80s and I was a massive Suburbs fan but they never made much of a splash outside of the Midwest.

The Replacements had more success during the emergence of alternative/college/modern rock but I don’t imagine many casual music listeners would remember them.

Prince’s protégés (The Time, Vanity/Appolonia 6 , The Family, etc) were really just his puppets. For example, Prince wrote, performed and produced every song on the first 2 or 3 Time albums.

And how could we forget Lipps Inc and the classic Funkytown!

Dylan was from Hibbing way up north on the Iron Range. So I don’t consider him a home town boy.

As someone with a long history of gay male friends and acquaintances and professors, colleagues, I can attest to the fact that there is a large segment of gay men who are obsessed with female bodies parts. That segment is further divided into two groups, on that is completely disgusted with the female body, particularly vaginas to the point that the hatred of vaginas comes up in nearly every conversation. And another group that is a bit obsessed with boobs, and the female shape. I try to avoid guys who fall into either subset.

I think it’s a power/control thing whether the men are gay or straight. No different to rapey straight men. Pawing at women or asking inappropriate questions is just about power, not about attraction or lust, and gay men can be just as misogynistic as any other men.

I think these attitudes are probably less prevalent among gay men in general, but the gay men that do hold them get away with a lot more physically invasive stuff than straight men would (grabbing women’s boobs in gay clubs, asking about their boobs on every reunion etc.) because women think they’re “safe”. I think a lot of it happens because women don’t call their gay friends on it, and men don’t call other men on it – it would be great to see a Housewife stand up to Andy’s nosy boob questions for once, but they always seem to indulge him.

Ramona is ridiculous and I agree with a comment someone made that she’s upset because she feels rejected by Bethenny after being one of her caregivers when she was sick last season. I would take a step further and call Ramona one of the B’s soldiers of last season Too bad Ramona doesn’t have an ounce of self awareness. Last season she took Bethenny’s side when Bethenny went after Dorinda and John in the beginning of the season but when Bethenny saw that Dorinda would not be intimidated and would swing back equally hard, Bethenny turned her attention to Sonja (for obvious reasons, Tipsy Girl) and Ramona threw Sonja under the bus for Bethenny. Ramona needs to look in the mirror and then she will clearly see what her problem is with Bethenny because Ramona’s problem is actually Ramona.

That said, I do like Bethenny this season and I actually don’t think she’s trying to dominate so much this season. Her constant camera time can’t be helped because Ramona keeps coming for her and her business.

Tinsley and Carole’s double/blind date with Adam and Scott was the best part of this episode. It was fun to watch and I like watching Carole and Tinsley’s friendship blossom.

I think what romana was trying to say – but she can’t because she’s so emotional- is that it was really a low blow to insult Romanas wine business because that was basically destroyed during the divorce as part of the asset fight. Early small businesses usually never make it through a divorce because they are community assets and romana would be forced to “work” for Mario forever as he would retain part ownership. Bethany at the very least didn’t have that problem. But skinnygirl would have never survived a divorce if it was community assets.

Ramona is an embarrassment, plain and simple. Her behavior with that young ski instructor last week was despicable and I’m thrilled Dorinda called her out on it. Ramona proves time and time again she thinks of herself as Queen Bee, maybe because she’s the eldest of the group, and that she feels she deserves an unprecedented amount of leeway from everyone. Truly, she’s got to get over herself. She saw Tim the instructor chatting with Dorinda, FOR 2 SECONDS, and she jumped in and broke it up.

I don’t feel Bethenny is trying to make it the Bethenny show but I do see Ramona trying to make it the Ramona Show. Bethenny will always grab at any opportunity to market herself, that’s to be expected. But I think Ramona’s current behavior is reflective of who she has become. She’s dramatic, explosive, demeaning, haughtily self-entitled, and just plain mean. Ramona knows better but she truly does not care about anyone but herself, it seems to me. She feels as if she deserves to be HBIC since she’s the only NYC cast member who’s been on consistently since S1 and she’s damn pissed she’s not being shown the respect she feels she deserves. But, she shows little resemblance to pre-divorce Ramona and, while I understand divorce can damage and change a person, she has morphed into a very rude and nasty bitch. I would run far, far away from someone like her.

Tinsley is a great addition to the cast. My only issue with her is that she acts like a baby. The woman is 41 years old! My friend mentioned she thought Tins was spoiled and I said I see her more as sheltered. She seems to be unprepared to cope with life’s disappointments in a healthy way. I hope very much she doesn’t lapse into a whiny victim girl. She’s teetering. Overall she gives as good as she gets and she has a thicker skin than I would have thought based on her reactions to things at times. Hopefully she has found a good guy with Scott. As for her marriage and arrest, she’s gotta just let it go and move on to bigger and better.

Too long a post! Sorry folks! My takeaway from this episode was a further dislike for Ramona, on every level, and a hope to see less of her as time goes on. She is not fun or entertaining to watch.

I agree, Tinsley is likable, but definitely a little childish/sheltered. Did you hear what she said in response to Bethenny snapping at her about listening to her convo? She said she “got in trouble”, like what a child says when their parent reprimands them. Kinda struck me.

I do like her though and enjoy her on the show. She’s a good person trying to re-make her life so I support that 🙂

        I agree completely Santa FE-

Ramona’s sense of ownership ,superiority and entitlement remind me of Vicki, as each think they are brilliant at business in charge, and own the franchise that they are part of.

They each are depressed, miserable, self indulgent, and delusional. None adds a thing to their franchise- and both need to go.

I too thought Tinsley was rather charming albeit a touch insecure and perhaps emotionally stunted.

This has been unequivocally confirmed after watching 8 episodes straight of High Society, a strangely addictive but horrible show starring Tins, her sister, mum and some truly nefarious characters filmed soon after her breakup with Topper. Circa 2010.

First, thanks for not discussing the revolting episode of Sonja and her “lady parts”. This is how I know I’m
old. It’s disgusting, but then so is Sonja.
Second, I love to hate Ramona. She never fails to make an ass of herself, loudly. This show wouldn’t be
half so much fun without her. Who would I hate? Stephanie? She’s too cold and unemotional. I think I
actually feel sorry for her because her upbringing molded her into an unfeeling unhappy person. I hope
she does a better job with her little girl. I love Dorinda, no matter her mood. She seems so grounded. Even drunk she’s fun. Carole is getting a little less pretentious, Luanne could take some lessons on that subject. She always made me uncomfortable as the Countess. Withholding verdict on Tinsley, hoping her childish behavior is just new girl nerves. We’ll see.

I have this vague recollection of Tamara scooping that both casts of RHOBH and RHONY were staying in Punta Mita near eaxh other but not in the same villa obviously and filming their respective trips at the same time or same week or something. So I kinda think the answer to your question is no.

I think his name is Scott Kluth not Scott Tinsley though it would be kinda funny if it were and she did marry him and her name was Tinsley Tinsely.

I started laughing at the 500 bottles of Ramona Pinot.. Maybe she meant 500 cases. However that is not a lot! Ramona on her own possibly could drink 500 bottles a year. I did like that she mentioned the “group trip” and she would be there anyway.
Ramona is just swirling down the drain. My mind went to Ramona holding on the rails of the helicopter as it was taking off for the distillery trip..screaming “It’s as group trip.. I am coming anyway!”

With TInsley, I agree with some of the other comments. She is over 40 and should be more responsible for her life. Yes, she has had bad things happen. Who hasn’t had bad things in their lives.

The best bit about this episode was the preview of next week with Luann’s pratfall. I love some good slapstick.

I’m warming to Tinsley. She’s harmlessly desperate, I don’t think she’ll ever conspire or manipulate against the other women, and will probably emerge from this whole thing as a victim of Bravo if she’s not careful, but her aspirations are pretty sweet and down-to-earth really – when you cut through the shopping and Park Avenue and poor little rich girl stuff, she really just wants to love and be loved. That side of her is very earnest and real, and she’s actually become one of the more relatable cast members (and a lot more interesting than watching Sonja zap her aging lady parts at least twice each season).

Ramona making Bethenny’s business meeting all about her own business and then subsequently, her divorce all while demanding respect was classic delusional, asshole Ramona. She was hateful, bitchy and rude before her divorce but with an air of arrogance. She’s lost the arrogance and has doubled down on the hateful.

Or, she is simply inarticulate. Half of the issues on RH, I think, stem from the fact that so many of these women cannot frame an argument, wind up getting emotional and then all hell breaks loose. Especially on RHNJ.

Ramona, if she had an iota of self awareness and the ability to speak honestly and lucidly, could have said, Bethenny, you expect behavior from others that you don’t subscribe to yourself. You have demeaned me and my business and my marriage publicly, and I have forgiven you. You are so distraught about your own messy divorce that I feel you haven’t acknowledged what I have been through, and that hurts me.

Of course, if they were really friends, that might matter to B. But at least Ramona wouldn’t have come across as so out of control and vindictive.

wondering what has happened to ramona pinot grigio??? someone mentioned she may have lost it in divorce or had to give $$$$ to mario??? haven’t seen ramona drinking, giving, or promoting it this season at all. on another note, ramona was not married 30 years. she had a vow renewal at 17 years. maybe married 21, 22 all together. i do feel bad for her w/bethenny. she was very good to B during all the fibroid/bleeding stuff and bethenny totally discarded her when season over. she was out of line for some of the stuff said to B but look at the way B has spoken to people – luanne last season berkshires? just this episode yelled at people at table for listening to her conversation or looking at her. she is evil and there only for self promotion of her crappy brand. ramona can’t verbalize what she wants to get across to b and she acts out.

Ramona was also very good to Bethenny the season when she and Jill were fighting, B’s father died, Scary Island and B getting married, then she was good and helpful when B’s marriage broke up and then last season when B was sick. However, B was not there for Ramona when she and Mario broke up and her problems with Sonya and I think that Ramona has been really hurt by this and justifiably so. Of course this being Ramona she can’t just say this and instead loses her mind.

    1. Sometimes Ramona reminds me of a Bette Midler character (like at the restaurant) and sometimes it looks like she is channeling her inner Mariah Carey (talking head). 2. Watching Tinsley on her blind date made me way more squeamish and uncomfortable than Sonja’s lady part lasering (I assume that she is the only HW saying ‘sure, I’ll sign up for the freebie, I will just chatter a lot and no one will notice’). Scott seems like a nice, normal guy and Tinsley was either ridiculously nervous or just ridiculous.

His abandonment of Ramona sucked, but there’s no way to know what their private trials and tribulations were. But if you leave your wife for a young’un, canoodle with her in the family home, AND go after her money in the divorce…well. I could see how that might push Ramona over the cognitive edge.
