I was very confused about a recent report that Patti Stanger was the victim of a burglary. I didn’t really care about the story, but the more people sent me a copy the weirder I thought the story was.
Here is what TMZ reported:
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … Patti and production employees were staying at the Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel in early May, filming scenes for the upcoming season. We’re told someone broke the lock to the first floor patio door of her room and went to town. Patti was not in the room at the time.

Law enforcement sources tell us approximately $300k in jewelry, clothing and purses were stolen. The case is under investigation but no arrests have been made. It’s unclear if there’s surveillance video.

First of all, the fact that TMZ mentions that the story was leaked by law enforcement sources twice screams to me that Patti is the source of the story. Law enforcement would have leaked the story in May if they were going to leak it. And who is Patti Stanger in dis world? She would hardly be know to many in law enforcement.

Next the are staying a the Luxe. I just googled their room rate and their most expensive room it around $350. A regular room is just over $200. While the place looks lovely, it’s not the Four Seasons. This is only relevant because Patti is claiming that she had $300K in purses, jewelry and clothes. It seems only Patti’s room was targeted. What type of burglar takes clothes? Who brings $300,000 of stuff to a hotel? If you need that much crap why wasn’t the jewelry in a safe?

Please explain this to me.
This story is even weirder than the Shia LaBoeuf story. Speaking of, I forgot to mention in that story that I giggle every time I type Shia’s last name. It literally translates to “the beef.”
This story does not pass the smell test. 300,0000 in jewelry, clothes and purses. Who brings that much stuff and NO safe for her jewelry?? No friggin’ way. Someone said it sounded like insurance fraud. This would be believable if they hit her home but that hotel. NOPE- makes no sense.
I dont think shes filing a claim with insurance. I think its just a publicity stunt.
100 % agree. It feels like this is the new favored publicity stunt; no one wants to see Patti’s sex tape but a robbery? Sure for a few retweets.
Publicity stunt.
What upcoming season? Does she still have a show?
Could it be a Stanger sting? Update us on the buzz,
Where’s the beef? If I’m not mistaken if it’s unweened and milk fed it’s uncaged veal. Tough to swallow.
My first thought was that the items stolen were on loan for a photo shoot, event(s), etc.
I remember from Rachael Zoe’s show that it was not unusual for there to be lots of high end items in hotel rooms when she was styling someone.
I don’t doubt that there were high end pieces and I don’t doubt that there was a robbery, but I DO doubt that the items belonged to Patti.
since you put it this way, I really
Think Patty leaked this to the press. It’s not like she’s someone truly
Famous that they would have leaked it. Lol. Someone is desperate for some attention.
Brother can you spare a dime! Fifteen cents off a two bit bore.
I don’t think it is so weird for clothes to be taken if a woman is involved. Perhaps, given the low room rate, a maid unaccustomed to high end guests called her boyfriend when she came across the items?
This is why I don’t use maid service when travelling in poorer countries. I just put up the ‘Do not disturb’ card and order linens to my room as needed.
Wow, girlfriend, that sounds very pretentious. Why would you be taking expensive things to the “poorer countries.”
I have a large amount of expensive jewelry. I keep it at the bank, because ghetto. I keep out a couple of rings, my bangles and one pair of earrings.
When I travel I wear only my gold Tiffany studs, and one gold Tiffany ring that is two TTs (for TT) neither is particularly expensive but extremely sentimental. Then, when I am in those poor countries, I buy kooky costume jewelry at the local shops as my souvenirs. Because I only VERY rarely travel with checked bags, I can’t come home with much stuff. And frankly I am old and have enough “stuff” so I buy art (some of which never has been framed) and cheap statement necklaces, because I love me a good statement necklace more than Luann does.
It’s absurd to me that you are so concerned about your items. As you seem to be walking around with so much expense shit in poor countries, I’d hope you would stay at the Four Seasons of PoorTown and avail yourself of the safe. This is where I keep my passport and a couple hundred US dollars in small bills in case of emergency.
Just a few hints for how to travel in “poorer countries”. Leave you LV luggage at home and try hanging out with the little people, Leona.
You know I love you girl, but I have to check you on this one.
Former hotel manager here to explain a few things…
Room attendants don’t really steal from hotel guests. They’re typically hard working people with families who wouldn’t risk the loss of their job and benefits. Also, most hotels use electronic key systems. When a guest claims items were taken from their room, an audit can be performed on the lock to track every key used. Room attendants know this, and are very careful about what they do in rooms after their assigned key has been used to access the room. In “poorer” countries, they’re even more careful. Americans have a rep for being complainers, jobs are more scarce, etc.
In about 90% of cases, an item has gone missing because the guest misplaced it, jumped to an ignorant conclusion, and caused a falsely accused hotel employee hours of panic.
In other cases, the guest had left their door open. The police hated being called in for those. So many eyes rolling 🙂
In others, guests claim losses in an attempt to scam the hotel. I had to go to court for one of those as I was manager on duty at the time. The lock audit (he claimed a hotel employee must have accessed his room while he slept) and an incredible amount of documentation on my part (his story changed quite a bit by the time we ended up in court) actually caused the judge to laugh before he dismissed the case.
But, in the end, traveling with anything extremely valuable is unwise. If you must, proceed at your own risk. Have we learned nothing from Kim Kardashian?
And, Patti’s case seems a bit fishy.
Former hotel manager here, too. Cosign everything you said. At least at the properties where I worked, the housekeepers were all dedicated long-term employees who cared both about their work and about keeping their jobs.
Whenever something went “missing”, it always ended up being, “Oops, I forgot I put it in the other suitcase” or (rarely), it had something to do with the, uh, “guest” they had in the room that they didn’t initially want to disclose…
Seriously? You’re a putz if you think that someone working as a maid is going to risk their job for your $50 purse.
Boeuf bourguignon, TT! Yum!? Patti Stamger repulses me. I want to puke when she explains her no inteercourse rule and points to her 3 holes. She nasty!
Agreed. I can’t stand the skank and someone needs to tell girlfriend that if your legs look like shit, put some hose on or wear pants. I absolutely LOATHE when women of a certain age wear dresses above the knee and insist on going bare legged. It’s gross!!

Oops! Didn’t mean to post twice! I will be over here with the window lickers, sorry! ?
No WLS for you, dear. It’s not your fault. Lots of changes to the backend of the site. Now it doesn’t time out if you write long posts but it is hard to tell if you comment is posting. Fix one thing, two other things break. Welcome to the life of someone running a website. 🙂
If you see a black POST COMMENT box like I do now just make sure that box is above the floating footer ad.
A first floor room with patio access and that much unsecured wealth lying around. That smells like an easy setup for a friend to help out with a little old insurance fraud.
Shame they didn’t get that wig.
Maybe law enforcement leaked the story because they wanted someone to enlighten the insurance company as to how irrelevant this lady is and how unlikely it is that she would have items to that value lying around a cheap hotel room.
I really wish y’all would stop calling the Luxe a cheap hotel. It is a lovely hotel for real and it’s a great bang for the buck.
Why insult the hotel? When was the last time you paid $300 a night for a hotel???
My point was not to mock the hotel, which was paid for by the show, but to say no one brings $300,000 to a moderately priced hotel. If know a few really rich people and they don’t travel with $300K in merch, And if it was for things to promote shit on camera, there was no loss to Patti.
Yes! It’s not a “cheap” hotel- it’s in the same price category as a Hilton or Marriott.
Plenty of REAL celebrities stay in moderately priced hotels while filming. I can only think of one who refused to stay in my (former) moderately priced hotel with the rest of the actors and crew. But he, famously, has his own movie trailer… and it was parked in back of the lot.
So, Patti was probably booked there with the rest of the production team.
Cheap cheap cheap. I only stay in the presidential suite in the Atlantis for 72k a night. Like, even if I’m visiting London, I just take the jet back there for a sleep and then head back in the morning. #haters #blessed
Just the one suite? How quaint. I hire out the top 3 floors and eat only the finest seafood I have them pull from the aquarium. ? Moderately priced hotels are for prostitutes and povo’s. #BritishHumour
Oh you two are funny.
I have watched a few episodes of Millionaire Matchmaker in the past and I do not care for Patti Stanger or some of the people who are on it. I agree that the story sounds very fishy, having that much $ in merchandise laying around in an unguarded hotel room. Especially on the ground floor!
As I was reading this story I remembered seeing an advertisement for her show a few weeks ago. I could be wrong but I think that it’s pretty coincidental that this “burglary” story comes out just weeks before a new season is set to begin.
The luxe is a great hotel. It’s definitely not a pretentious, has all the bells in whistles place. But it has amazing staff and service, it’s got charm and it really is nice. It’s a place locals like too and celebrities stay if they want to be more low key. Not that I’m calling Patti a celebrity.
i could see the 300k causing side eyes, but devils advocate: if she is out here to shoot for a few weeks and brought along a few high end purses, shoes, designer dresses and jewelry to look the part for tv, I could see it easily being this much.
Yet I could totally see this as publicity stunt just like you say.
And is millionaire matchmaker still on? Geesh, that show is so fake and boring. Who the heck is watching that dribble?
So I agree with the hotel managers above, it most likely wasn’t a maid. In fact, the article quoted says that the burglar ‘broke the lock’ which a maid wouldn’t have had to do. Of course as someone else suggests it could be that a maid saw lots of stuff lying around and told someone who then broke in. Which may explain why women’s clothing was stolen. That detail seems really weird to me. Also, I’m a little surprised that a mid-priced hotel wouldn’t have better security and surveillance.
$300,000 doesn’t seem particularly excessive to me either. That could be just one or two nice pieces of jewelry. And people leave shit out all the time at hotels. Stupid, yes, unheard of, no. Although I gotta say if I were staying at a hotel with a first floor balcony exit, I’d be a little more careful with my shit.
The former hotel managers above can probably shed more light, but I don’t think the hotel would be contractually on the hook for more than a token amount unless she proved negligence on their part.
I thought this was strange because The Luxe is out of the way — way out of the way — from anything ‘TV-related’ .. it sits off the 405/Sunset in Brentwood, and if you know LA, while ‘oh the set is four miles away,’ that is code for ‘oh the set is 45 minutes away,’ thanks to traffic, so why would she stay there unless filming there at hotel …
BUT it is a safe, wonderful hotel, I live up the street and stick my parents there every time they visit from Atlanta and have had ZERO problems, issues; anything negative.
This is a leak by her to give her stupid dating show a shout-out and that’s extremely sad if it affects the business of the hotel. She makes me gag.
I’ve stayed in a variety priced hotels and have always gotten along with housekeeping. I make a point if it, if possible. I’ve no idea if I receive great service because of my attitude but I’ve always had my room well respected. If that makes sense.
$300,000 is not believable. Like TT I travel light with jewelry but I do wear a few good pieces. I also travel light with clothing and I also don’t shop/buy very much.
I love traveling, this makes me want to go, almost anywhere.
I watched her show years ago. Thought she wasn’t even doing the show anymore. Then I found that Jason..Hannah’s charter guest was on her show twice., plus most of Manzo kids… I thought this is probably a ploy…. IMHO
