Danielle and Cody
Danielle is pissed that Cody withheld information from Danielle about the wedding he committed them to attending. It is on the same day at the same time as her best friend’s thirtieth birthday party. Cody says that he is who he is and perhaps Danielle doesn’t want things to work because he is not the kind of guy she is looking for. Cody has a tearful confessional saying he is killing himself trying to make it work.
When Pastor Calvin talks to Cody he says he is terrified of getting divorced. And he needs sexual intimacy in his life. He tells Danielle she needs to let go of past relationships. She feels like they are past mistakes she can learn from but Pastor Calvin says they are baggage she is bringing into this relationship. He says she needs to give Cody a clean slate. He gives them a photo album of their wedding. Cody tells Danielle it is hard to look at the photo album and how good things were and how he has put so much into this to just be where they are now. Did I miss all of this effort Cody was putting in? He couldn’t even be bothered to find out the day of the wedding they are supposed to attend despite repeated requests. This week the blame for this failing marriage is being placed on Danielle. Cody says he would like to have sex.
All the couples are having Labor Day parties with their friends. This gone is sort of a couples party out in the country with Cody’s family. His brother is still dating Danielle’s best friend that he met at the wedding. Angie and Charlie are very physically intimate with each other. Clearly, they are having sex. This irritates Cody.
Nate and Sheila
Nate’s mother continues to be a problem. She has childish tantrums. Her problem is she feels like she is being pushed out of Nate’s life. But she does things to make that happen.
Nate and Sheila seem great when they are alone together. But this week, Sheila drops a bomb that her best friend is a guy named Donnay who is probably not gay. This will be a problem. I am so distracted b y where they are having lunch, I’m not really paying attention to the conversation. It’s just the two of them and there is a large stack of plates in the center of the table. At some point there are two cutting boards with charcuterie or apps or something. Actually, it looked more like crudité boards. At other times there are fifty million plates of food.
Did I miss the session with Pastor Calvin and these two? I think it may have happened last week. This week we see their photo album.
These two are having a Labor Day Party combining all of their friends. Sheila has a lot of close friends but Nate is concerned about Donnay. They are having a really nice rooftop party and the alcohol is flowing. They are playing “never have I ever.” That is never a good idea. Everything is going great until Nate confronts Donnay. Donnay is really cute and single. Nate asked his friends what they would do if their woman had a male best friend. There was a lot of macho posturing and Sheila felt like they ganged up on Donnay and that was not cool with her. Nate basically says she is not to be friends with Donnay.
Ashley and Anthony
Anthony is still sort of tiptoeing around Ashley’s selfishness. Ashley is so very touchy. Pastor Calvin talks to these two about their communication. Anthony says it is hard to get Ashley to open up. Pastor Calvin points out that he is spending all of his time managing Ashley. Basically. Anthony is doing all the work. Ashley is just sort of there. Ashley doesn’t think she needs to change anything about herself. She must be the only person in the world that doesn’t need to better themselves. I am reminded of a science big book I used to teach first graders entitled Living Things Grow And Change. Ashley could benefit from that lesson. Pastor Calvin gives them a photo album from their wedding.
Later Ashley realizes that Anthony needs to be appreciated and feel important and valued. That was a breakthrough. Ashley says she has body image issues and insecurities. She wants compliments about her looks. This marriage is Ashley’s to fuck up.
These two have a small rooftop party with mostly Ashley’s girlfriends. Ashley is a bar manager at the family restaurant and because of the holiday the place is really busy. She gets a phone call from her sister asking her to come in. She volunteers to go get drinks for the table and never comes back, She totally bailed on everyone without saying goodbye. Ashley just wants to do whatever she wants to do and the rest of the world just has to deal with it. Who acts like this?
Next Week: Ashley and Anthony got to Michigan to spend time with his family, Danielle and Cody go to see her family, and Nate and Sheila have to endure another visit to his mother.
I don’t know what’s worse with Ashley, her self righteous or her cheap hooker make up on the follow ups after the episodes.
I have to investigate, well, spend a minute and look for these after show things. Still boredish. Get frustrated with them, just look at yourself and not each other, and things will work. But I’ll be more bored, so ??? Great recap TT, thanks. 🙂
The after show is just more questions asked by Jaime (she married Doug the first season and hated him and almost threw up every time he looked at her but they stayed together) anyway the only thing interesting is her fire engine red lipstick and painted on makeup. I seriously thought she was a relative because she looked completely different
Thanks Jen. I never saw season one, so that may be worth a look as well. 🙂
Tamara I’m not watching this, but I am reading and enjoying the recaps.
I’m still waiting for 90 day fiance to come back
