As if we didn’t have enough problems with Atlanta traffic, now we have packs of morons gathering in the hundreds driving off road vehicles though downtown streets and on our Interstates with no regard for traffic laws.
Imagine being a young driver out alone when this happens. 911 is fielding calls from terrified drivers who are surrounded by the twatwaffles.
As I watched this the first time, I thought it was on a loop. It is not. They just keep coming and coming. The police seem to think it is too dangerous to pursue the fucktards so the is little they can do. They are relying on video identification as well as using a chopper to keep the apprised of where they are so that can pick them up when they stop for gas or at the end of their joy riding.
Be careful out there, guys.
This is why I haven’t ventured to visit the olg but I would if you were going with me TT
This is Baltimore City, all day every day. The police have a “do not chase” policy here and it is INSANE.
Yep! I couldn’t believe they tied the cop’s hands like that. And they are so brazen, popping wheelies right in front of them, taunting them. It’s insanity, they do it in DC too.
They do this in Miami every MLK weekend.. it’s called MLK Rideout and they are super dangerous.. they go on the highways at high speeds doing tricks. It’s horrible. Hopefully this doesn’t become a recurrence in Atlanta
OK I lived on the PCH in Huntington Beach and I LOVE a wheelie but there were just 1-2 taking off from red lights. Black Bike Week was unexpectedly taking place in Myrtle Beach when we were there a week or two ago and the bikes were amazing … especially the low rider type of motorcycle with the hydraulics.
Two days ago coming home on Peachtree. At least 50+ of them doing wheelies, changing lanes…..
Couldn’t they just sit at a big intersection and pick them off with tranquilizer darts? Or, here’s an idea, they’ve gathered somewhere before they started their parade, how about stopping them before they get on the streets?
Stop talking sense.
I don’t get it either. It’s like when the Mayor of Baltimore was all, “Just let them express themselves by burning their city to the ground.”
Here’s my next question. How is it that so many urban kids have these things? Where were they planning on riding them? finally, that’s quite a display of disposable income, I hope none of those people think of themselves as disadvantaged youths.
Because they can afford them. Just because you are black and live in a large city does not mean you are disadvantaged. You should check your bias at the door.
Which is precisely why I said I hoped they didn’t think of themselves as disadvantaged. Because they aren’t. See, we agree.
Oh geez…. I was going to call you out for assuming they were black. I watched again. Clearly I need to check MY bias on a different wavelength, and work on my observational skills. Most were POC, although some looked like they might be white. I’d make a shitty witness clearly!
Oh… I should say while they may not be disadvantaged (and why would one assume that this group thinks of itself or calls itself disadvantaged? I’m not sure why that came up at all) – this doesn’t mean they are rich. At least in my area, one can find a used motorcycle or ATV at reasonable cost, and lower to middle income could get their hands on them.
THEY ARE BLACK PEOPLE BREAKING THE LAW.
POINT BLANK AND THE FUCKING PERIOD.
WHY IS EVERYONE SO DAMN AFRAID TO SAY THEY ARE BLACK PEOPLE DOING THIS?
JESUS FUCKING BLACK JESUS ON A CROSS!!!!
URBAN DELINQUENTS! CITY DELINQUENTS! COUNTRY DELINQUINTS! THEY ARE PACKS OF GROWN ASS BLACK MEN CAUSING CHAOS AND BREAKING THE LAW!
WE HAVE EYES.
And this crew has shitty rides. They are mimicking the MLK Day Rides in Miami that is an annual excuse to act like a fool. The slogan is Guns down wheels up. Because it make total sense to honor MLK by getting your ass killed popping wheelies on MLK day, Three died in Miami this year, many were arrested and their very nice ATVs were impounded. This is Atlanta’s pathetic response. Meanwhile the mama’s of the dead riders were on the news in Miami sayiing that they begged them not to do it. And I might add the Miami crew with the really expensive rides are quasi professional trick riders with training. They don’t seem to care that jackasses are trying to mimic their behaviors that take lives each year.
IT’S A BLACK THING.
Thanks, Tamara. I had not heard about this. Not much time for news watching since Ed had his accident. But, there’s always time for you and your blog!
It’s time for All Good Men and Women to come to the AID of Atlanta, as well as, to the Aid of Law-abiding citizens get new leadership for the State of Georgia, as well as, for Atlanta, NIP this idiotic behavior in the BUD Stop it! Vote the OLD leadership out of office!
Wait, WHUT? Is Ed okay Margarettt? I am so sad to hear this news!
We got stuck in a group of them on a Chicago interstate, going 65 on an off ramp, one almost hit us while passing us on the shoulder. It was terrifying. At the time I didn’t know it was a thing, honestly, your post is the first I’ve heard of it.
I’m guessing there’s some social media connection, so they all know where to meet up? This is insane!!
I believe “Tobaccorhoda” was asking why kids who lived in an urban area would have/buy those ATV -type vehicles. As for me, when the video started I thought it was a bunch of country white kids come to town to terrorize the streets with their off-road vehicles. Then I saw the crotch rockets in the mix. And brown/black people. And decided they were under 30 so who knows WHAT they’re thinking 🙂
Country white kids…what does that even mean?
Redneck is my translation.
Helpful hint: People who say “urban kids” mean “black kids.” People who say “city kids ” mean “city kids.” Never fails.
No, lady, I meant urban kids. Kids who live in an urban area where there is no place to legally ride an ATV.
Um, depends on the urban area. Kids living in Seattle area, if traffic is smooth (hahahahahaha) are maybe 60 to 90 minutes away from a place to ride an ATV. I know people who use them when beach camping, etc. every summer.
Those are just the legal trails open to the public. I know others who may live in the city, but have relatives with acreage outside of the city – farmland or forestland – and they are allowed to zoom around all they want.
At least for the Pacific Northwest, I’m sure this is true for EVERY urban area, especially Alaska!
This is also assuming that all the people participating didn’t come in to Atlanta for this purpose. They could be country kids!
Its assholes like this, and her paranoid fear of outrageous stuff like this (which she has never witnessed) that makes it where I can’t convince my mother to downsize from one of the largest SUVs known to man.
Her comment would be – I’d still change lanes. Let one of the little fuckers survive my car.
(She also has a complete heart attack if I talk about a mini Cooper or a Smart Car.
So, the light turns green and everyone in a car just has to sit there while the douche parade rides through? All I could think of was, what if, when the light turned green, a driver just made their turn or drove through the intersection? If the driver of a car hits one of these jackholes because hey, the light is green…then what? Does the car driver get cited? It wouldn’t even be malicious, our response to a green light is to go. I guess that’s what freaks me out, the liability.
If they hit the riders, the rest of the assholes pullover and beat the driver of the car to death.
That’s exactly what I was thinking, too.
Well I know in Baltimore City if you get in their way or cut them off or don’t give them the right-of-way you’ll get dragged our of your car and beaten. It is pure thuggery. There have been horrible incidents here of people getting hit and killed by the racing dirtbikes. My husband and his family have had an automotive and cab business in Baltimore City for about 60 years. My husband finally gave up and shut down his shop in May.
It sucks that the thugs won when it came to your business, Rebecca. I know it was hard to come back after the riots downtown.
On the other hand, I hope you guys are enjoying a well earned retirement. It’s good to see you in comments!
Can’t quite do retirement yet! But the good news is that my husband and my son are now looking to open up a new, smaller automotive shop closer to home. My son just graduated from high school and is enrolled in automotive tech classes, so they’ll be working together, which I love!
This takes place in ratchet-Philly all summer. It’s disgusting, obnoxious and irresponsible. They seem to think it’s cute or smart with their I-don’t-care attitude. The police in Philly stated the same thing; that catching them would be too dangerous and honestly, I agree. So yes, be careful. #theyarefucktards
Is this being done as some sort of a protest or something? MLK day has long past. At least around here, you don’t see much for wheelers in the City. Those of us who have acreage all own at least one and they’re used, primarily, to get from one neighbors house to the other, though we are known to haul feed and such around on them from time to time.
The idiotic concept originated in Miami as MLK rides on MLK day. Now copycat morons everywhere have realized they can joy ride through cities unfettered and so they do. It’s anarchy not protesting.
Spike strips and tear gas… Just a thought.
I guess it was too cold for the ride in January so they waited until June. Or maybe all of these dbags were participating in the MLK Day of Service on the real MLK day.
I remember seeing a few ATVs downtown just before I quit my old job 3 years ago. I also remember them zooming through a condo parking lot where a friend of mine lived in Midtown. I would say I can’t believe it’s escalated to this point, but I totally do believe it. What a fucking nightmare. I’ve grown to really hate Atlanta over the years.
Speak it, Tamara. I’d also like to politely request that people stop being offended on somebody else’s behalf. I’m sick of that shit.
Thanks Sam. It’s my pet peeve. I may or may not have a rant about it in my commenting rules. The chronically offend people annoy me.
They’re in my neighborhood too. It’s like a parade, you just have to wait until it passes by.
