The kid getting Catfished on this episode is Dylan a 21-year-old from New Jersey. Dylan met Ally eight months ago when she commented on his social media post. Ally is 21 she lives Oklahoma where she works full-time in a hospital. Dylan also works in a hospital in New Jersey. This already seems like someone making up a fake account tailor-made for Dylan. Dylan’s mother had died recently which made him more of an easy target. Ally has all the usual red flags including refusing to video chat. Both Dylan and Ally are attractive. The picture of Ally seems like she would be someone who video chats a lot. Then Dylan got an anonymous text that said that Ally is not who she says she is. Dylan has big goals. He wants to be a pediatric cardiologist. He needs to get into a college and he wants to be with Ally.
Dylan and the boys meet up in a bar in a really cute New Jersey town. Dylan is working on a full sleeve tattoo on his left arm full of bible versions. His mother died six months ago and his father died when he was 17. This is a good kid and whoever is catfishing him needs to be hung out to dry. The last thing this kid needs is another loss.
Side note: The man bun has made it to New Jersey. (Not Dylan). Dylan’s hair is a whole nuther talk show. It’s shaved down except for a long mop of curls on top. It seems to work on him though.
The guys reach out to people on Ally’s social media to try to dig up some information. They also discover that Ally’s phone number is actually a spoofed number. As soon as they discover this, one of the guys they reached out to, Jay calls them. He says he has known Ally for four years. They have never met. When they first encountered each other online Ally catfished him using the name Ireland using photos of another girl. She confessed that her real name was Ally after about two months. It sounds to me like the Ireland name was outed and she just wants to use the same name with all of her catfishing.
Nev tries to call Ally. He doesn’t get up and go outside like he normally does. It is as if he knows the call will go to voicemail, as it did. So he texts Ally instead. Before she even has time to answer, the guys just randomly decide that she is in Tulsa and pack to leave the next day. They don’t even worry about it looking like they already know the catfisher will meet with them.
At the airport, the guys get a call from one of the other guys they reached out to, Mason. Mason says that he was also catfished by Ally. He gives them her real name, Mary (last name bleeped). His last contact was two months ago. After he figured out who she was, he confronted her via text and never heard from her again.
Mason lives in Tulsa so they start off at his house. Mason got a smaller leather couch and some furniture covers. The walls there are the same slate gray/brown as the one’s at Dylan’s. I still can’t decide if they actually paint the walls, or digitally alter them. Any there is a guy named Clay at Dylan’s house. Clay says that Ally said she had a sister to introduce him. They discovered that the sister was also Ally.
Mason talked to Ally everyday. They agreed to meet. But Ally was a no-show. These two know the person who told them that Ally was not real. It’s her cousin Chelsea. Nev convinces Chelsea to have Mary come to her place so they can talk. Chelsea wants reassurance that no one will be mean to her because she is very protective of her cousin. She says Ally has been catfishing since she was 14. Is Chelsea really protective of Mary or is she Mary? I’m leaning toward the latter.
When the get to the house, Chelsea comes out into the front yard to film. She says Mary is in the house. There is a lot of confusion about where they are supposed to film. Chelsea says she will bring Mary out. Max asks to go in with Chelsea. Mary is in the kitchen nervous and crying. She’s quite overweight. You can see she has tried to look her best. Then back out into the front yard we all go. In the harsh light of day we notice that Mary has lots of moles and one particularly large one on her neck. It’s about the size of a half-dollar and protrudes quite a bit.
We can literally see Dylan’s soul being crushed. Everything Mary has said was a lie. She doesn’t work at a hospital. Mary says she is addicted to catfishing and doesn’t think she will ever be able to stop.
The next day, Dylan says he checked the Ally accounts last night and Mary was still catfishing away right after they left her the day before.
Back at Chelsea’s house, I am pissed before they say a word. Chelsea got a full couch and the smaller couch like Mason got and probably that coffee table as well. The catfish always gets rewarded for coming on the damn show.
Also, someone needs to teach Mary a few things. Like when your neck is one of your worst features, grow some hair and stop wearing it up in a greasy bun. NEVER wear leggings as pants. EVER, horizontal stripes are not your friend. Neither are two string hanging off your midsection. Or knits. For the love of God no knits. Buy some clothes with structure. Sit up straight.
AND STOP PLAYING THE GODDAMN VICTIM. No one cares that some guy you catfished showed up to your job. You can’t fuck with whoever you want for six years and not expect one or ten of them to come hunt you down and try to kill you. Eventually someone will succeed. And you are not addicted. You are an awful person. Everyone gets bullied. That doesn’t give you the right to crush the souls of hundreds of people. Dylan is just sitting there ready to go while the guys start their counseling session. They tell her that her time will be better spent going to cooking school.
Dylan says that he will be there for Mary but the catfishing has to stop. Dylan would have said or done anything to get out of there. Not once did she apologize or show remorse. Dylan let hug him. Oh hell to the noe.
When we check in with Dylan, he has a new girlfriend that makes him happy. She is about to start college and he still talks to Mary trying to help her get her head on straight.
I could care less what happened with Mary.
UPDATED FROM THE CATFISH STILL HOOKED SHOW 5/31. Nev says that after they finished filming someone else contacted them who was also being catfished by Mary. So it seems that she didn’t stop. That guy Darion, is also there for the reunion. It looks like Mary is wearing a carpal tunnel brace on her wrist. All that typing lies to random guys seems to be taking a toll. She says that she loves Dylan because he is her best friend but she doesn’t think she could date him. I don’t think she can either.
When Nev goes to pick up Mary, she claims she doesn’t use the Ally Facebook page much anymore. Why didn’t she delete it then?
When she gets to the park near a large body of water to meet up with Dylan and Max she admits right away that she is still catfishing. Dylan is furious. Well, Dylan furious, he’s a pretty laid back guy. Chelsea is not talking to Mary.
They bring out Darion who sees Mary for the first time. They show Mary giving an identical word for word apology to Darion that she gave to Dylan. Mary says she is done and is never ever going to catfish again. The entire time she is cheesing for the camera. I don’t believe a word out of her greasy grinning mouth.
