Tonight’s episode title let’s me know that it’s the week we have to suffer through the old crones Indian muumuu party. I do not know what is more unfathomable. Is it that she claims to have some fashion sense, and is hawking cheap rayon muumuus out of the trunk of her car more or less, or is it that she did some sort of self published book on how to entertain thinks that an Indian dinner party replete with costumes and some sort of psychic is actually an option. Has she ever had a party without a psychic reading of some sort? Senility is sad to witness.
Craig and Naomie have decided that relationship drama works for Kathryn and Thomas to get lots of screen time, so this season they need to drum up some of their own. Thus we end up at the couples counselor this week. The corn plant sitting in the corner had a more intriguing story line than the bickering these two did. Naomie is a drama queen who blows everything out of proportion and tells everyone their fake problems.
But when we got to the Mich Ultra and Makers Mark commercial, I was longing to return to the counseling scene.
We got a cute scene with Thomas and his father. Thomas tells us a bit of his family history. It’s the same story he told when he was running for the senate. His father moved out when he was young, his mother spent all of her time with the brother with Downs Syndrome and the older kids were already off to college. This scared him for life. I’m not being sarcastic, I really do think that is where things started to go wrong for Thomas. I was talking the other day in comments about Thomas’ first marriage that didn’t last a year and the time many years later where he was a runaway groom at his second wedding. He called the girl on the phone on what would have been their wedding day and said he wasn’t coming. He’s not good with relationships.
I am really missing Cameran on this episode. We’re halfway through and no sign of her. Perhaps because the season is focusing a lot on relationships and she can’t talk about her husband. This scene with Chelsea and Austen is pointless. Oh wait, Austen is talking about how his older sister died when they were kids. She fell to her death either off the cliff or off the thing that takes you to the top. There is a lot of family history stuff happening in this episode.
The crone claims that she paid $3,000 for a kaftan in India that had a dog on it. She and her yankee friend Georgette decided to make the tacky rayon ones with photos of people’s pets. I just can’t.
Kathryn goes to Chelsea’s salon to get her hair done so she will have someone to film with. It’s a Bravo dueling scenes kind of thing where Kathryn tells Chelsea, who is a random stranger, about her issues with Thomas while Thomas and JD talk about what to do about Kathryn. Kathryn has sent Thomas a letter. I was so happy that she revived the fine art of letter writing until I saw that it was simply scrawled on a couple of pages pulled out of a spiral notebook. Kathryn apologized in the letter for how the relationship ended. She tells Chelsea that Thomas has a hard time receiving love because he feels unworthy. The problem stems from his father’s abandonment and how his father never really made him feel worthy of his love. Kathryn says Thomas is an asshole who is a good person. That makes sense to me.
Everyone except Kathryn was apparently invited to this shindig. Even Whitney’s escort for the season is there. Georgette is equally as horrid as her hostess. She told the table a list of conversations that are inappropriate for dinner and then kept a tally of the infractions. She wave around a diamond ring that must be 125 carats or more while Patricia called it The Famous Galconda Diamond. I thought the Golconda diamonds from India were pink? Anyway, we have two batty old crones at the table tonight being extremely rude.
Thankfully the psychic healer person has arrived. The psychic predicts that Cameran will be a mother by the end of 2017. And she’s right, because Cameran is pregnant. We get a flashback to another psychic for years before this reading in 2016 that also said she would be a mother in five years. The psychic also says she will have three kids. The psychic says that Craig will pass the bar within the next year. Craig did pass the bar. She says that law is his passion and he will own his own lawfirm. The person being read doesn’t say anything, the others ask the questions. Naomie says she has no questions about Craig. The psychic says that Craig and Naomie are soulmates. Shep on the other hand may never marry. The psychic says that Shep biggest fear is ending up alone. Shep disagrees. The psychic says that Landon and Thomas are soulmates. Then she says that Whitney is going to have a kid. Never going to happen. Whitney hates children.
When it is Thomas’ turn to be read, Whitney mentions that Kathryn called him to get together. He thinks she wants to make amends. Whitney wants to know how things work out with Kathryn and Thomas. Cameran says they need to stay out of their relationship. Cameran is the one in EVERYONE’S relationship.
Is one more person says ALTERIOR motive on this episode I will scream.
Basically, Shep and Craig and to a degree Whitney want to give Kathryn another chance. Or at the very least to make amends. They seem to think she is working her steps, but in interviews Kathryn basically says that she didn’t have a drug problem and the people at rehab told her that addiction was not her issue. Shep vigorous defends Kathryn calling the dissenters fucking idiots. Well Georgette cannot tolerate bad language and stomps off to her guest room after telling everyone to get the fuck out.
Next week, Elizabeth gives Kathryn a letter from Thomas. And Cameran, Whitney, Shep and Craig meet with Kathryn.
