I’m not going to spend much time on this tonight since y’all are only mildly interested in how Erika does and not so much into the show. Unfortunately, I’ve been sucked in and am shocked that I actually enjoy recapping this even though it is was too long.
It’s the Most Memorable Year episode which is usually filled with tears and all sort of dramatic feelings. I’m not really up for all THAT but it is what it is.
She is clearly the winner of this season and I love her. Her memorable year was getting on the X Factor and being thrown into a girls group. She danced the Rumba. She gave me chills. If she doesn’t get at least one ten this week they are totally sandbagging on her scores. She deserved 10s last week. Three fourths of Fifth Harmony sang her music live. Len points out that her Asian tour is over so he expects more content from the actual dancing style. Carrie Ann takes a point of for a lift again. The girls gave her 8s, Len gave her a 7 and Len gave her a 9. Score: 32
Nick’s most memorable year was 2016, because he found love. #EdensLoveStory He’s doing a dance with several girls on a group date. I’m not kidding. The song is that “I’m in love with your body” song. At the end he pulls Vanessa out of the front row and makes out with her for way too long. The judges seemed to really like the performance. I should have mentioned that Nick danced with no shirt for most of the dance as it seems to have influenced the female judges. They both gave Nick 8s just like they gave Normani. Something is fundamentally wrong with that. The guys gave him 7s, for a total score of 30.
Nancy appears to have picked a decade or so of trying to have kids. She danced the foxtrot. I already know the female judges will over score it, because they are both idiots this season. She got all 8 and a nine from Len. They are obsessed with Nancy. Score 33.
His most memorable year was 1995 when he was diagnosed with cancer. He dances the waltz to Amazing Grace. Mr. T basically twirls his beautiful partner around a lot. Carrie Ann is crying during her feedback. The judges give him great feedback, even Len. The feedback was more about his character than his dancing. Also, Amazing Grace gets to most everyone. He gets straight 7s Score 28.
Max is still too injured to dance. She married her husband in 2015. She danced the cha cha. She was great. Carrie Ann took off a point for the lift. All 9s except for Carrie Ann with an 8. Score: 35.
David picked 2016, his last year in baseball when he played for the Cubs and went to the World Series. It was a spectacular last year. He danced the Viennese waltz. He was good. The choreography was a bit weird. He gets all 8s except a seven from Carrie Ann. Score 31.
Rashad did a contemporary dance. He was really good. There were a lot of lifts which is going to irk Carrie Ann. It was about his relationship with his father. It was very moving. And that was before he ran out and hugged his father who is in a wheelchair and they apparently had a rocky past. Lots of sobbing during the hugs between the two and the whole audience. Standing ovation. Not a dry eye in the house. Even Bruno is broken up. Everyone is crying. Carrie Ann did not take off for the lifts, which doesn’t seem fair. She gave him a ten. So did everyone else except Len who gave him a nine. The high score of the season. Score: 39.
They have teased Erika before nearly every commercial as if she is next. They did the same with Nene when she was on. Erika must be getting lots of votes. She was on Ellen today plugging the show. It was her first time on Ellen and it went well. I am not sure how into her Ellen was. She danced the cha cha to Express Yourself. Her year was 1989. She has moved to NYC to pursue her dreams. She was not getting much work but she was in a girl band and the manager wanted them to move to LA. She had a blast and she looked great.
Carrie Ann said she loved her performance because she pushed out of her comfort zone. Len gets booed by the audience for saying she does the same thing each week. I kind of agree with Len. Len and NotCarrie gave her 7s Carrie Ann and Bruno gave her 8s. Score: 30
I knew Simone’s birth mother was on drugs and alcohol and she went to foster care. But hearing her tell the story is heartbreaking. Her most memorable year was the year she got adopted by her grandparents. She runs to her parents and cries. I am made it through Amazing Grace, Rashad’s embrace with his father, but this one got me. Everyone is crying. Again. She gets straight 9s. Score 36.
His year is 2016 the year he broke his neck. That bull through him up in the air and he literally landed vertically on the top of his head, hard. Then the damn bull stomped him hard and even threw in some horns. This is so horrific I can’t believe they are showing it. His family thought he was going to die. So did Bonner. He was paralyzed 12 months ago. Tonight, he danced the foxtrot to Feelin’ Good. I think it’s the Michael Buble version. The judges loved it. He got straight 8s for a Score of 32.
Mr. T and ERIKA AND GLEB! were on the bottom. I was terrified that Erika was leaving because Mr. T had not been in the bottom much if at all. But it is time for Mr. T to go home. Erika lives to dance another week. I think Erika was shocked. So was I. I figured it would be Nick.
