When Andy Cohen was seen leaving the RHOA reunion practically in tears, it was clear the RHOA would be pretty dramatic. Yesterday, Bravo released the first clips and the press release below informing us that it will be four fucking episodes long. Dear God no. What have we done to deserve this? There better be A LOT more to this reunion than what my sources told me or I’m going to need some sort of drugs to get through four hours of recapping.
Let me walk through this press release with a purple pen…
NEW YORK – April 6, 2017 – With four times as much fun and drama, Bravo Media’s “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” brings the heat with the first-ever four-part housewives reunion in network history beginning Sunday, April 16 at 8pm ET/PT. Host Andy Cohen sits down with Cynthia Bailey, Kandi Burruss, Kenya Moore, Phaedra Parks, Porsha Williams and Shereé Whitfield with an appearance from Shamea Morton, to look back at some of the most dramatic moments from season nine to deliver the ultimate Southern showdown. Our favorite peaches will discuss everything from an explosive all-cast Hawaiian trip to shocking revelations about where allegiances truly lie. Well damn, that clip does look pretty good. I love a good backstage crying jag with Andy.
The historic four-part reunion kicks off on Sunday, April 16 at 8pm ET/PT and things get heated when Kenya and Shereé go head-to-head in a battle of the baseboards, addressing the drama surrounding building their dream homes. Phaedra and Kenya discuss the highs and lows of their friendship to determine if there is any hope at saving their rocky relationship. Tensions rise when Kenya questions the effectiveness of Porsha’s anger management, which leads to a fiery verbal encounter between Kandi and Porsha.
See, this Kenya and Sheree stuff with the houses is so boring. Everyone knows Sheree’s house is not finished no many how many videos Bravo puts up about it. Ditto Kenya and Phaedra’s three episode truce. Let’s just get to Kandi and Porsha and call it a day!
In part two of the reunion airing Sunday, April 23 at 8pm ET/PT, Kenya reflects on her complicated relationship with Matt and confirms the status of where things stand today. Phaedra gives updates on the status of her divorce with Apollo and brings proof to make her case. Shereé calls out Kenya for constantly adding fuel to the fire and in an emotional confession, Shereé reveals more heartbreaking details surrounding her tumultuous marriage with Bob.
Well, this part should be good. I look forward to Phaedra bringing her divorce papers with the fake names to the show “prove she is divorced.” It begs the question “Why would you ask for your divorce to be sealed and then file under a fake name only to come on national TV to pretend you are divorced and waive the filing with the aliases around?
In part three of the reunion airing Sunday, April 30 at 8pm ET/PT, the men join the conversation to weigh in on the drama of the season – including Bob addressing his shortcomings in his relationship with Shereé, and Todd revealing he still has a bone to pick with Phaedra. Cynthia and Peter reveal what life has been like post-divorce and Shamea sits down with the ladies to confront her BFF Porsha, raising questions about Porsha’s budding friendship with Phaedra. As the conversation turns to issues surrounding “Lesbiangate,” friendships are shaken like never before.
I also wonder why Bob would agree to even show up at this point. He comes off looking worse. And Peter’s drunken proclamations about seeing someone else is just extra. I hope they show him stumbling off the stage back to the green room bar.
Part four of the reunion airs on Sunday, May 7 at 8pm ET/PT, diving into the aftermath of the “Lesbiangate” drama. The cameras go beyond the curtain to capture behind-the-scenes moments, tears and tense conversations as the ladies try to recover from a painful realization to see if there is any chance of moving forward after an explosive season.
The fourth part will be good. This is basically the aftershow. We should do this every season instead of the stupid “No secrets revealed” episode. This is where the magical meltdowns happen and even Andy gets emotional. This season Andy is “one of the ladies trying to recover from a painful realization about Phaedra.” I still can’t fathom Andy not knowing what anyone with eyes who watches RHOA knows about Phaedra. Perhaps the real issue is she got Porsha involved in a legal mess with Kandi and made her cry. Sources say that somehow despite Porsha slandering everyone this season, instead of being held accountable she just cries a lot and gets off scot-free…
Following the four-part reunion, the network will air a “Secrets Revealed” special on Sunday, May 14 at 8pm ET/PT, which will feature never-before-seen footage of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.”
“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” is produced by Truly Original with Steven Weinstock, Glenda Hersh, Lauren Eskelin, Lorraine Haughton-Lawson, Carlos King, Anne Swan, and Anthony Sylvester serving as Executive Producers. Andy Cohen also serves as an Executive Producer.
In other interesting news, True Entertainment and Original Media have merged into Truly Original. Both companies were helmed by Hersh and Weinstock and the will continue to head the company that was newly formed last January. Carlos King will no longer be an executive producer on RHOA. His future with Truly Original remains unclear as a restructuring is occurring under the newly formed company. I mention all of this to say that there is hope that with the influx of new producers we can always hope that we get a change in the course of RHOA as it enters its tenth season. The entire starting point of “let’s stir these bitches up and pit them against one another until they brawl and contact their attorneys.
I mean, a girl can hope, right?
