I’ve been very positive in my portrayal of Kathryn Calhoun Dennis in my numerous posts here. I’ve been rooting for her, ignoring nasty, unfounded rumors by other sites, and hoping that she was in the process of getting her life together. I didn’t go into details about the rumors that I believed about her when she returned from rehab in Malibu at the end of last summer. I mentioned only that she did well for a week or so and then disappeared and was believed to be hanging out with an unsavory character. I did not specify that man was someone with a history of cocaine use that was likely providing her with drugs. I didn’t say any of that because I did not have any concrete evidence of that. I moderated many comments that were especially brutal toward her.
When I did allude to her “difficult time” Kathryn herself tweeted me that I needed to check my sources. This concerned me because I believed the allegations of drug use and her tweet made it clear she didn’t want it mentioned at all.
Throughout it all, there has been her version and his version of what is going on. When I reported that Thomas had taken the kids to Palm Springs, and that Kathryn had further lost custody rights, a fellow blogger with Kathryn sources claimed I had it all wrong and that Thomas would be sending the kids for her weekends as usual. I know she believed that to be true but the Kathryn leakers were lying to her in my opinion. Thomas had the kids in Palm Springs for nearly two months and has just recently returned to Charleston.
The Kathryn sources would tell us that the initial drug testing was simply poor Kathryn being duped by Thomas who has the same issues. I no longer believe this to be true. There have been court documents made public that make my ability to believe the Kathryn propaganda impossible.
The Daily Mail has publish a long piece on the situation based on court document they exclusively acquired and they are very damaging to Kathryn. They are also heartbreaking.
Court documents seen exclusively by DailyMail.com show that Kathryn Dennis has been evading the mandated drugs and alcohol tests since last November and now risks being held in contempt.
In addition, just last week, Kathryn lost her bid to keep her medical and mental health records out of the custody battle as the court ordered her to hand over all records since January 2013, including those relating to a stint in rehab last summer.
The 24-year-old checked into a Malibu facility after drug tests last June found that she had amphetamine, marijuana, crack and/or cocaine and methadone in her system.
This is the first undeniable confirmation of the exact drugs in her system. Thomas was quick to leak the information (allegedly) to certain sites at the time. But I wasn’t taking Thomas’ word for anything. That’s a lot of drugs. And methadone?
But there is more…
Now court records seen by DailyMail.com seem to back up Ravenel’s assertion about drug addiction and reveal that Kathryn has been stalling for close to five months, failed to show at a court appearance last December and has been threatened with jail – should she persist in her refusal to take the test.
Her own attorneys’ attempts to contact Kathryn on the day of her no-show and give her an opportunity to appear proved futile.
The judge concluded that Kathryn ‘has been evading the drug and alcohol testing required’ and instructed her to ‘submit to immediate drug and alcohol testing or to report to the Charleston County Detention Center or the Berkeley County Detention Center.’
Clearly frustrated, he noted that Kathryn had repeatedly failed to provide medical records and ruled that, as Kathryn herself had ‘introduced her mental condition as a claim or defense…that she is a fit and proper parent to have custody of the minor children,’ she waived any right to privilege and gave the court ‘good cause’ to require the release of ‘any and all of her mental health records.’
It was also ruled that Kathryn should pay Ravenel’s legal fees in relation to these motions as she ‘has been uncooperative and her behavior has caused the Plaintiff’s attorney’s fees to mount.’
Clearly, Kathryn is still using.
Thomas gave a rather heartbreaking affidavit in court when filing for sole custody.
“I tried to make our relationship work…but Kathryn was too unhealthy. When she wanted to control me she would hide or take either my cell phone, wallet, or car keys. If I tried to get them back, she would accuse me of hitting her. I have never laid a hand on her. In fact, social media posted a video of Kathryn assaulting me in New York.”
“After KCR [Kensington Calhoun Ravenel] was born I considered marrying Kathryn. We went and looked for an engagement ring. The very evening after I had ordered her ring, Kathryn left me with KCR at home saying she was going to run errands. She said she would be back by 7.00 pm. She did not return back home until after 1am.”
That’s interesting. It did seem at times even on the show that Thomas was wanting to have a complete family. It also explains why he was so digusted with her on the season premiere. It seems as though he has tried more than he as been given credit for. It might even explain why he didn’t want to film with Craig as Craig is one of the people who supports and defend’s Kathryn this season.
The children’s nanny, Nanny Deidre Blair Politelli, also testified under oath that she found a bong or some sort of handmade smoking device while doing the laundry at Kathryn’s house. She stated that Kathryn would go out every night and return home between 1 and 5 am. She would sleep until well after noon each day.
Politelli testified under oath that:
“Kathryn’s lifestyle significantly interfered with her ability to care for and be engaged in the daily lives of her children. Kathryn seemed to look at her children as if they were toys or props and not real children, with real needs. She appeared to not know the difference between her reality and TV reality. This led to constant panic attacks, personal attacks, and creating things in her mind that did not happen.”
“The children have been consistently returned to Thomas’s house reeking of cigarette smoke, unbathed, in dirty clothes, with matted hair. On more than one occasion I have picked SJR (St Julian Rembert) up from Kathryn’s with such matted hair, from it not being brushed or combed, that I was forced to cut the knots out of his hair.”
Why would she be picking up the kids? I thought she was supposed to stay with them even on visitation weekends? The nanny’s daughter also testified that Kathryn told her that she did adderall and drank red wine throughout her pregnancy. I have never posted any of the unsubstantiated rumors that at least one of the children suffered some effects consistent with drinking while pregnant. I did however observe some developmental symptoms. I no longer feel that topic is an unreasonable one to ponder publicly.
I had heard last February that Kathryn was going to do another stint in rehab since the first one didn’t take. Sadly, it doesn’t appear that happened. Prior to her first rehab stint Thomas told the court that he felt that his children were not safe when they are in the care of Kathryn. He stated, “She is more interested in partying than mothering, I believe she is addicted to drugs and cannot function in a manner conducive to her having caretaking responsibilities for our children.” The judge agreed and mandated the rehab in order for Kathryn to have further contact.
Prior to the season premiere, Kathyrn gave an interview to Reality Tea, another site that has been supportive of Kathryn. In that interview she denied knowing Eliza Limehouse other than in passing and claimed that Shelby was not her cousin. After the show aired I received information about Shelby after trashing her in my recap. I was told that Shelby took Kathryn in and really tried to help her but she quickly went off the rails again. I may have more on that later. I still stand by my assessment of her trashing her cousin on national TV and feeding information to Thomas. I have a source that wants to speak with me further about this today. I am trying to get this up as quickly as possible because I am likely to lose power today.
Kathryn told ET in a an interview in advance of the premiere, “I’m really at peace with everything. Chaos is out of my life, luckily. And, I have two beautiful babies. What else could you really wish for? What I went through wasn’t just addressing drugs, alcohol, whatever. It was more beneficial in, like, life skills. Honestly, in a way I feel like everyone should go to some type of rehab.”
There is a level of narcissism in that quote that is astounding. It’s totally all about her.
Daily Mail in a show of hubris actually went to Monck’s Corner and knock on the family home where Kathryn was MIA. Her father answered the door and would only say the situation was “difficult.”
This explains to those who questioned her family’s lack of support of Kathryn’s custody plight. Many felt that they should be fighting to get the babies back. When in actuality, it seems they are probably right where they need to be for now.
Thomas headed back to Charleston from Palm Springs today. He posted last night that he lives in the guest house with the kids and sleeps there at night. The nannies do not work overnight. He also retweeted a photo of Landon visiting him in Palm Springs last week with the caption “best friends.” Just when I was trying to like him, Landon crests the ocean to squawk.
This was one of the most depressing posts I’ve ever written and leaves me profoundly sad.
