I wish for my sake that Imposters didn’t come on right after RHOBH; but, I suppose over all it is a good timeslot for the show. I have a lot of promotion to do after housewives shows and you all know I am dying to get over her to recap my favorite show on Bravo! I added an Imposters link in the menu bar atop each page on this site to make it easy for you to locate any episode recap you may want to revisit. And of course I always sprinkle links to the previous recaps here. This is episode 8, so there are only two more after this. I’m already feeling sad it will end soon. There was an unusual amount of footage of previous episodes to start this one. I take that to mean they are going to tie lots of things together.
We begin back at the diner. Ezra has returned to town and apparently the three of them are going to tell her about Patrick together. She laughs when then tell her. But once she believes them, she freaks out and goes to the bathroom and exits out the bathroom window.
Maddie takes a taxi straight to the airport. She starts thinking back on every interaction with Patrick. She starts to realize that everything about him was straight of her playbook. The two undercover associates, being exactly who she needed him to be, the whirlwind relationship, and to fast proposal. All of it was her M.O., and she fell for it hook, link and sinker just like her marks. She can’t leave now. Now she has to out maneuver him. She has to win. So she has the taxi driver take her to his house.

Then we have some plot holes. Where did she get a gun? Why would she have worn it to the diner? How would she have gotten it on a plane? Why is she suddenly drawing a weapon and clearing the house like a cop on Cagney & Lacey? This whole scene should have been cut.
Apparently, she figures out Patrick is in the shower and gets nekkid, as one does when there is an extremely hot man in the shower. They have angry sex, which startles Patrick because was not angry. Then she proposes. He opens up the safe and gts out the ring that she originally rejected. Game on.
Patrick reports to his boss that he has landed his mark. Auntie Bossy lady is thrilled. She says the pattern is for The Doctor to collect within 20-30 days. Then they will go back and “clean up this little guy.” She holds up a photo of Ezra. Out of all the marks, this one has always been their secondary target. You clearly can’t trust anyone in this world. Not even the sweet little Ezras.
Maddie reports to Max that the mark is a Fed. Max says they still have time to run. He wants them to split up and run. Maddie says if they run they die, and he knows it. She says they have to work with the POV. Max has no faith in that plan, but he’s out of options.
The POV waits in an aquarium to meet up with Maddie. Jules says the place is like a giant birth canal and wonders if Maddie chose it for the symbolism. She shows up with Max. Maddie says they all have to work together. The POV lightly mocks her falling for Patrick.
Maddie has come up with some sort of super elaborate plan in a matter of hours. We’re going to be suspending our disbelief a lot for this. While Maddie is out with Patrick and his sister announcing their engagement, Max and Richard are searching Patrick’s house. Because an FBI agent with a fancy pad paid for by the FBI would not have at least the number of cameras as Kim and Kroy Biermann. It seems that the mission is to plant cameras in the bedroom. Do they hide them in plants? Conceal them in some unexpected way that even a trained FBI agent would not notice? Nah, they just drill them into the walls in plain sight.
Saffron is talking to Patrick and his sister in the FBI, Gina about the wedding plans. Ezra comes in the restaurant pretending to be drunk and causing a scene. Since they know that Patrick knows, Ezra starts drunkenly welcoming Patrick to the club and starts telling a story about Ava a Belgian girl he met and Maddie jumps up and takes him out and leaves with him telling Patrick she will catch up to him later. They head to a real bar to celebrate their con. Ezra falls right back in love with her. Then Ezra gets pissed at her for flirting and flatly tells her to stop. He leaves her with the tab.
Gina is confused. She thought Ezra was in on it as the fake brother. Apparently, the FBI didn’t know that he was a former mark? Then how did the know about the TOV? This makes no sense. They have the TOV’s photos on a wall in the FBI office. They are all from three different cities with no ties other that Maddie? Please don’t let this show start to fall apart now.
Richard needs to come down after his first espionage mission so he asks Max if he wants to blow off some steam. Richard, who is not from Seattle, knows just the place. He takes him to a high school football field whose location he has no way of knowing about. Richard throws him a fifty or sixty yard pass that Max catches. They sit in the bleachers and drinks lots of beer and Richard tells Max about the heartbreak of losing “Alice.” Richard asks if he as a special lady in his life. He says no, but he did have someone. If things would have been different, if they weren’t “in the life” she could have been the one. But she screwed up and he had to break it up and “send her packing” so to speak. And now she’s gone.
Maddie goes home to find Patrick lying in the bed waiting for her. She climbs on top of him and cuffs his wrists to the iron headboard of bad feng shui. She says she is going to tell him three things. (1) I really, really almost fell in love with you. (2) I know you’re in the FBI. (3) I’m going to make you a deal. And we are both going to get what we want, okay?
Maddie tells Patrick that she knows they want the doctor. She wants to give him up to get out of her situation. Her plan is to tell The Doctor that she found another half a million dollars hidden in his house, he will come to collect it. She wants the FBI to provide the half a million. He wants to know why anyone would trust her with that much cash. The way she figures it, he doesn’t have a choice. All she wants is immunity and a chance to start over. She said that she wants them to leave Ezra and Max alone. Again, why Ezra? She doesn’t care if they get immunity, but for now they need them. He asks about Ezra’s girlfriend, Jules. She says she is totally clueless. He only got with Jules to get over her and she feels kind of bad for her. But if they break them up she will know something is going on. Patrick agrees to the deal on the condition she give the million dollar ring back.
There was no mention of Richard.
In the very next scene, Maddie is trying on a wedding dress. Jules is with her. She is still totally in love with Maddie. Jules is sad she didn’t get a real wedding with Maddie because they eloped. Jules starts making out with Maddie and calling her Cici. Maddie stops her and Jules has a meltdown and says she is out. She’s bailing on the whole deal. Maddie calls Ezra and tells him to stop Jules. Ezra convinces her that they need to finish this together for their own resolution, not for Maddie. They’ve come too far. She lays down on the motel bed, asks Ezra for some quarters and turns on the vibrating bed. I bet that pisses off the bed bugs. Or maybe they enjoy it.
Max let’s the The Doctor know that the wedding is on. I’m still not sure what Maddie’s real plan is. Will she run?
Ezra leaves the seedy hotel room and gets stopped by the local police, guns drawn. The next thing we see is Patrick explaining what is going to happen to Ezra. He has photographic proof of credit card fraud, identity theft and petty larceny. So he needs to let go of all hope that he will somehow end up with Maddie and do exactly what he says. Or, he is “going to go to big boy prison.”
And that is where it ends.
The previews show that next week he introduces Ezra to Auntie Boss Lady. And I was wrong about the last episode being called The Doctor Is In. It looks like that is next week’s title.
What do you think Ezra will do? And why is he such a pivotal player above the other two that the FBI doesn’t seem to care about at all? And what happened to Richard after the football scene?
I can’t wait until Tuesday nights! I love this show. I don’t know what Ezra is going to do. My question is: Is Sally really dead? I could’ve sworn I saw her in the upcoming previews last week, but I haven’t seen that one particular commercial for the show again. My theory is Sally went batshit and killed Lenny Cohen and will come back in the last episode and take care of Max in her own way! I’m really sad there’s only 2 episodes left 🙁 . I hope there’s a Season 2!!!
Ohhh I like that. I hope she does come back, but I do not want Max dad. His character is the most interesting to me. I didn’t see his flip on Sally coming. He really is evil.
I’ve watched a couple of episodes and thought it was interesting. But I didn’t give it my full attention. I have been debating if I want to watch it on a regular basis by streaming it instead of watching it when it airs. I have a really hard time watching anything after the RHOBH airs for some reason. When Ladies of London came right afterward I never finished watching it and would usually stream it a couple of days later or just not even catch up on it all. When it came on Wednesdays and didn’t air after it, I usually watched it and would finish it. I think some of the the reality shows are getting a little wearisome so I just don’t have the patience to watch them back to back like I used to. It’s good they are adding more shows like this on Bravo I suppose.
The person who confuses me is Richard. Ezra and Jules had money. Unless I missed something Richard keeps alluding to the fact he doesn’t have money and never has. I thought last night was covering that by saying he had some short lived professional football career, but he said he peaked at 14 and was the same at 18. Which would mean his best years were HS. I’ve thought maybe they trained her on him, but then wouldn’t you choose someone seemingly a little harder to fool.
Also I think Patrick will be gunning for Maddie just as hard if not harder than the Dr. He is pissed he was made. It was/will be a huge sting in his ego. However, I see future banter and Patrick falling for Maddie in the end. Maddie will fall for Ezra and he will want the Blonde back just to find her with his brother. Just my future predictions. Jules and Richard are just the comedic relief. The Botox of the story to making Ezra look not so unhedged.
I remember Richards back story had to do with betting against himself or throwing the game, which if you’re in the mafia or a bookie that could mean a big payday. That must be how he got his money.
I keep thinking there’s more to Ezra..
With maddies plan it will be interesting how they will end it.
Thanks for reviewing the show .. I am hooked. Don’t see how there could be a second season, but who knows.
I’m just so done with the Housewives shows. It’s just not worth my time!!
Rather watch shows that interest me or make me think, much like a book.!!
Maddie got the gun from under her sink after she jumped out the bathroom window. Then hopped into the taxi ready to run.
Her sink? Like her apt? I didn’t know she still had one. Thanks. I miss some things when typing.
Yes. Maddie went back to apt..to retrieve essentials and then try to go to Seatac…
Luv this show, and its basically being filmed in my backyard, lol.
I can’t figure out why
I can’t figure out why the FBI is so interested in Ezra. Did you notice that when he was called back home, his Dad said “the doctor” said it wasn’t a heart attack but stress related? And out of the blue his parents are going away? I think something’s up with that! Did you catch that TT? Thank you for turning me on to the show. Has it been renewed?
Omg! You are so right!
Yep!! That’s what I said last week. Somehow Ezra’s family is connected to all this. And I just LOVE Mary Kay Place – ever since Mary Hartman Mary Hartman. I really hope we see more of her.
Wow!!! Good catch! I totally missed that! That’s why I love this show-so many little twists and turns! I do agree with other commenters that Sally is not dead. Can’t wait for Tuesday but sad it’s almost over .
I also don’t believe Sally is dead. I think she went batshit on Lenny Cohen and killed her and got away. I could’ve sworn I saw her last week in some previews, but when I see them now she’s not there.
Gapeachinsc, I hope this lands/nests correctly… can’t refrain from replying to your Mary Hartman Mary Hartman comment. Man, that show was ahead of its time. Loved it! Ahhh, the good old days! ?
Um, when you have a panic attack/heart attack you go to the doctor. I don’t think that means anything. I do think there is something to uncover about ezra and that he has a role in this whole thing. It doesn’t make sense but that seems to be the implied narrative.
It’s interesting of the blackmail the doctor has on the three victims only Ezra’s is not directly personal to him.
Richard’s has something to do with him throwing game , Jules’ is not known but something about her stealing from roommate and Ezra’s has to do with his father cheating… I wonder if this is a clue to something else?
I also thought Ezra going back home seemed out of place and maybe part of bigger story
This show is fun. I hope it doesn’t disappoint!
That’s a good point on Ezra’s trip home. There didn’t seem to be a point to it. But there probably was one, right? Why did the father suddenly need him home and now he is suddenly retiring and fleeing to parts unknown? I think we need to look at that again. Maybe go back and see the song the dad was working out to on the treadmill? I took note of it in my post as it seemed ….placed there for a reason… but I’ve forgotten it now. I’ll look back myself if I get a free moment.
So my theory about why Ezra became know out of the three to the FBI is because he took on the role closest to Maddie. Also seems the show wanted him to be a main character. I agree with the comments about Ezra’s family (dad) being important, I thought it was odd his blackmail wasnt personal.
Richard however… how has he stayed off the FBI radar and when they will notice him? He was present at all the crimes Ezra commuted but he was cut off in the pictures!
I’m curious why the FBI is not aware of where she was before now unless they weren’t watching her. I hope the next two episodes ties that up, I wonder if the FBI will recruit Richard and Jules too…
Such a fun show. I love that lead actress. She’s giving me exotic Audrey Hepburn vibes. Her face is quite expressive. The others are good, too. I hope Uma Thurman didn’t take a dirt nap, I want to see her again. As long as she didn’t kill Sally, that is.
I think Ezra’s Dad’s affair was with the doctor’s wife possibly. It was odd they showed the doctor’s basement and him plus we heard his daughter. Why did Maddie cover for Jules? And how come we don’t know more about what they have on Jules? I can’t get this show out of my head. I hope we get some answers.
I was stumped by that home scene at the Doctor’s home, too: the 3 monitors, the child…
WHY DO I NOT REMEMBER THIS???? I need a marathon. I was just enjoying the humor the first few episodes and then I realized I should have paid closer attention. GAH!
Ha. Me too. I was watching thinking I would hate it eventually
Now I have to go back with my magnifying glass and pipe.
Am seriously considering binge watching again if the weather sucks tomorrow. I obviously missed a ton, too.
Mark T,
3 monitors….
*There are 3 TOVs
*There are 3 ’employees’ (Max, Maddie, Sally. Or if Sally is really dead, Lenny) But, 3 that were the “team” of scammers for lack of better words.
*There are 3 FBI agents on the case.
I’m reaching, I know. But dammit, I wanna know! Lol
Ideas for next season… all the Imposters become FBI agents and continue to be Imposters for “good” and not “evil”. That could run forever…
What else???
Like the idea. I think the Dr. has anther team of players we don’t know about or maybe we know some of them? Somewhat reminds me of Mission Impossible… the old TV series not the Cruise movies.
That’s the only solution to clearing them with the law, TT. Otherwise they’d just be on the run. Although that could work. Conning and grifting their way around the world, eluding the FBI and trying to out the Doctor before he has them killed.
I thought the 3 monitors were odd too Mark T. The doctor could certainly afford one huge screen. TT, I’m going to go back and find out what song was playing when Ezra’s dad was on the treadmill. I think you’re on to something! I can’t believe it’s Friday and I still have Imposters on the brain.
I posted it in the recap I think.
Here is the link to all recaps, in case you want to look for clues.

If I am correct and the song is Seether by Veruca Salt the song is about uncontrollable anger.
“Seether”
Seether is neither loose nor tight.
Seether is neither black nor white.
I try to keep her on a short leash.
I try to calm her down.
I try to ram her into the ground, yeah.
Can’t fight the seether [x3]
I can’t see her till I’m foaming at the mouth.
Seether is neither big nor small.
Seether is the center of it all.
I try to rock her in my cradle.
I try to knock her out.
I try to cram her back in my mouth, yeah.
Can’t fight the seether.[x3]
I can’t see her till I’m foaming at the mouth.
Keep her down, boiling water.
Keep her down, what a lovely daughter.
Oh she is not born like other girls,
but I know how to conceive her.
Oh she may not look like other girls,
but she’s a snarl tooth seether. Seether!
Can’t fight the seether.[x3]
I can’t see her till I’m foaming at the mouth. Yeah
The artist writer, Louise explained that she could feel this temper coming on, but there was nothing she could do nothing about it, gentle or harsh: ‘Keep her on a short leash’, ‘rock her in my cradle’, ‘knock her out’, ‘cram her back in my mouth’.
Erza’s dad was singing this on the treadmill on the Frog Bikini episode. The words I caught I believe are the refrain, “I can’t see her til I’m foaming at the mouth.” The lyric stuck me as an intentional clue so I googled to find the lyrics. I think I actually did it for another song.
I think we need a list of all songs on the season. I miss UF. 🙁
Okay there are lists of songs by episode out there but the sites are all different and they are trying to sell songs. Very few of the songs have any details. The Seether isn’t listed for Frog BIkini, but they only list the last song on the airplane.I was working on a comprehensive list but the songs don’t really seem to hold a lot of answers. At least not all of them so that is not necessary
S1 · E7 · Frog-Bikini-Eiffel Tower
Very last scene when Ezra puts in his headphones on the plane is Ça plane pour moi which is written by a BELGIAN GUY. The gist of the lyrics seem to be about flying high on drugs. Ava, Ezra’s incarnation of Maddie was Belgian. If it means something IDGI. Probably a song that reminds him of their time together.
Maybe they could take their scamming to Canada…
I hope they have a season two plan worked out. I miss this show already.
All great points to think about. It’s interesting that Seether is referred to as her. Why do we know so many details and people in Ezra’s life? That must be a clue. Still think it’s odd seeing the doctor in his basement picking up remote controlled trucks and not covered up in surgical scrubs in a dark O.R.
The author of the lyrics of Seether is female and was talking about her own anger so I am not sure how much gender matters, Ezra’s dad was singing the song on the treadmill. So he could have been talking about his own anger or, maybe someone else’s I am hung up on that song in particular because it didn’t seem like something I’d expect a man of his age to be listening to, the lyrics seemed a bit creepy and it seemed like they (the writers) wanted me to notice. I’m probably making a mountain range out of a molehill.
Everything so far has been pretty easy for me to figure out. But I have no earthly idea what to expect on the finale. I feel like it is all there to see but I have not yet.
You now have me focused on the song too. It WAS like they wanted us to notice because it was so odd for the dad character. Maybe it was a red herring to throw us off the focus of the mom (or Lenny could be connected to the Blooms). I have a hard time thinking Mary Kay Place or Uma Thurman would be relegated to bit parts. Ha! Now who is overthinking?!
When I think of a doctor , I think of a “fixer”.. Maybe he did the “wet work” for the TOV parents? Anyway.looking forward to Sunday episode>
You’re absolutely right TT about it being a strange song for a man of his age to be singing. What does he have to be angry about? He acted all happy and love dovey with his wife about going away.
I don’t know why I was thinking that this was the finale. This is epidsode nine of ten
Check out the TITLE!
