The Imposters Is Officially My Favorite Bravo Show!

March 1, 2017 by tamaratattles 42 Comments

Kurt Iswarienko/Bravo

If you are not watching Imposters on Bravo, you are missing the best show on Bravo.  The basic premise is that a con artist named Maddie (Inbar Lavi), uses her feminine wiles to trap men and women into marrying her. At which point she empties out their bank accounts and leaves them in her wake. She then quickly moves on to her new target who is presumably being selected by “The Doctor” who runs the whole show. While Maddie does most of the work, her two accomplices  Max (Brian Benben) and Sally (Katherine Lanasa ) seem to both be above her paygrade.  These three move from city to city adopting different roles in an effort to entrap their mark.

There is another trio, Ezra (Rob Heaps), Richard (Parker Young) and Jules (Marianne Rendon) who were all married to Maddie very briefly. Maddie had a different name with each spouse and an entirely different personality.  In the first episode we saw Erza’s life ruined, episode two filled us in on Richard’s con, and episode three we meet Jules, a now angry lesbian who was married to Maddie before both of the guys met her. Eventually these three reluctantly team up to track her down.

“Maddie”

The show is part dark comedy, part mystery.  The trio of victims is pretty damn funny as they attempt to learn a few basic cons themselves in order to fund their search for Maddie.  I’m not really sure why they are searching for her. I mean what is their plan if they find her? But the angry lesbian and the two male stooges get up to all manner of hilarious situations.  Richard even takes time out in episode four to bang a waitress in the coat closet when they stop for a bite to eat.  All the while they struggle with their Con Code on who it is acceptable to con out of money along the way.

Maddie has moved on to Seattle where she has a new mark in banker Gary Keller. This situation is trying out to be a bit problematic. It doesn’t help that Maddie met a hot guy named Patrick in a coffee shop and is trying to do a bit of normal dating on the side.  This causes  The Doctor to send a frightening character, Lenny Cohen (Uma Thurman) to let Maddie know she needs to finish off this mark and do her job. Or else. Lenny explains this to Maddie while wielding a butcher knife.

To make matters worse Sally, whose Seattle cover is to work as a maid inside Gary Keller’s house, has been outed by Gary. He outright asks her if she works for The Doctor. This is the first time a mark has known about The Doctor.  This makes me wonder if all four marks have some sort of connection beyond simply being fools with money.

I won’t spoil you on the end of episode four. I’ll just say things take a very dark and scary turn.

Are you watching this with me? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

YES!!! And I’m loving it!!!! They really are stooge like and it’s a complete different change of pace for me and my television viewing habits. I’m actually pretty diverse with a mix of docs, cartoons, old movies, and reality TV, so this is fun for a change.

Whew! You scared me when you said the end of Season 4. I was like WTF? Episode 4! I’m loving this show. It’s just wacky and weird and wonderful at the same time. Uma officially scares the crap out of me.

Sorry PJ. Either you are new here or just commenting more. I have some depression/anxiety issues and today was a “Bad brain day” 🙂 Some days writing is easy but more and more I’m struggling with things that are normally quite easy. It’s frustrating.

I’m starting to think it might be a TUMAH!!!!

This is where I need TeeCee to chime in. But bitch is Skeered off or sumpthin.

Love this show!!! I’m watching religiously. Although it makes no sense for the three jilted partners to find Maddie, I love them. I also loooooove Patrick. He is delicious to look at. Who thinks he has some unknown connection in all of this?

Me! I just knew that was why Lenny was there. Patrick must be from some rival crime team. I was waiting for Lenny to say “Patrick is a serial killer who wants to guy you, you fool!” Or something.

There’s a reason Patrick is in the cast photo above. I’m hoping he’s a Feeb or some other government law enforcement guy.

I just figured that Ezra, Richard and Jules were interested in tracking down Maddie to recoup some what she stole from them? I think its quite logical to try and find the person who financially drained you whilst emotionally scaring you.

Yes, but she is clearly part of a ring of criminals. And they are morons. so… well I guess I answered my own question. And really I think they all just want her to say she really loved them. Don’t you?

Also the challenge, as she said “you will never find me.” I don’t think they get yet that she is part of a ring of criminals. And yes, I bet each of them wants her to say s/he was her favorite. I love this show. The ending of the last episode was a shocker. Well done!

Erza made a comment about “Max” whispering in “Aunt Katherine’s” ear at their wedding reception after he realized he’d been conned, so that makes me think they’re aware of it. I agree about the ending! WOW!

I’ve never been able to watch more than one episode of Bravo’s scripted shows but this one is a keeper. The hair on my arms was standing up at the end this episode. Uma Thurman as that batsh*t crazy hit woman! Oh boy. And Maddie’s parents- her dad’s Alzheimer’s was so sad. I really hope they get their cell phone back. Great show!

Yes!!! Frye? Frye? (One of my favorite moves lol). I love this show. Since it started, I’ve been watching each episode over & over again to see if I missed things the first time. I went to watch the 3rd episode On Demand yesterday and it wasn’t on the menu! Episodes 1, 2 and 4 were listed. I need to see episode 3 again!!! I was hoping you were going to recap this TT. It’s a great show!

I love this show. I can’t wait to find out how a mark would know about the doctor. I tyink it’s one of those shows that you’ll never find out who the Doctor actually is. Patrick is defiantly going to have some type of connection to Maddie and her the work she does. Not sure if he is a Con man also, or if he is after them. With Gary’s dark side I want to think its like a Robbin Hood/Dexter situation. The tailing trio all seem like pretty good people so that debunks that. Unless we are going to revisit everyone’s past indiscretions in the future. I can’t wait until next weeks episode.

I went back to the OnDemand menu last night and Episode 3 was there so I watched it. This is when Max was talking to the Doctor on the phone telling him about their money launderer skimming from them. Remember Sally acting as the maid and finding all that money in Heller’s floor? Heller is the launderer who was stealing the money, that’s how he is connected to the Doctor! OMG I think I am becoming obsessed with this show LOL! I just hope it continues to be this good!

I heard she wasn’t even asked to be in the show, she had the script somehow, loved the role & went after the part. Oh, I know it was an interview with Katherine LaNasa who plays Sally.
