With Abby Lee’s sentencing expected to happen this Friday, it seems they decided to push out both parts of the two part finale of Dance Moms last night.
We begin back in Pittsburgh. It’s kind of sad for everyone since the ALDC Pittsburgh no longer exists. The studio has been rented out to another dance instructor. Abby is trying to keep a happy face, but she is overcome with emotion. She must be worried to death this week,
Abby announces that the two minis Lilli and Elli get solos. Kalani and Brynn get solos. Two for each overall age group. Abby says the group dance is about cancer. The moms point out they have already done a cancer dance. Now Abby needs to change the dance. Might I suggest “Die in a Fire?” Because she always has to pick somber or creepy stuff. Candy Apples is doing a routine based on human trafficking. Isn’t dancing suppose to be a a fun release? Why do the themes have to be so dark every week? Abby has changed her routine to be about murder, prostitution and drug addicts. I am not making this up.
It is nice that they are bringing Chloe back for the final episodes. Chloe wants to go back to competing. She doesn’t want to see Abby or Gianna.
Lilli’s music for her solo is a song that her dad wrote and sang. I thought that was sweet. The moms find this to be a reason to bitch.
Kendall has an event to premiere her video. It’s pretty good, the song is catchy, it’s age appropriate. I like it better than the one she tried to do with Abby. Abby says that Kendall used the exact team she did to produce the new video. She says it will go to number one and Kendall will make a million dollars and she will make one. Oh Abby, give the kid a break. You didn’t give her enough of your time. You kind of had other things going on. Abby cries like a baby leaving the studio for the last time.
Cathy comes in before anyone dances and starts the usual drama. Abby gets upset and doesn’t give the soloists any feedback before dancing. The auditorium is huge and packed to the gills. It is literally standing room only. Abby is nervous. I’ve never seen her this nervous before a performance.
Brynn has her work cut out for her. Because she is 13, she has just barely made it to the older group of 13-17. Her dance is called Winner Take All and it’s almost entirely ballet. It was good. I don’t know enough about the difficulty level of the choreography to know if that is enough. Abby gave her the overhead clapped and some woohoos so apparently she’s happy with it. Holly says that was her breakthrough performance. The girls complimented her arabesque backstage.
Kalani walks out on stage in a black bra and underpants for her contemporary dance entitled Who Do You Think You Are? It was great. Everyone loved it. I liked her music better, it was sort of haunting and drew you into the dance.
I’m nervous for Ellie. This is a lot of pressure on her and she tend to crumble under pressure sometimes. She did quite well. However she was disappointed in her performance. This one beats herself up a lot. Abby says it was a bit over rehearsed, but good. How does one over rehearse a solo at nationals?
Her dad and brother have come to watch her dance to his song tonight. She’s really nervous as well. She was fantastic. If the overalls were not divided into two age groups, I ‘d think she has a shot a beating Kalani. So many acrobatic moves. This has to be a big point earner. She gives good face but usually it’s always a big smile even during sad parts of the song. Her dad cried. Abby is super pleased.
Instead of a brawl, we get some rehearsal shots. Everyone thinks this may be the last be the last ALDC group dance ever.
Candy Apples Group Dance
Okay, the Abduction dance was good. Candy brought back one of her former male dancers. He was REALLY good and kind of make the girls look a bit sloppy because he was just so good. I have no idea how that will be scored.
ALDC Group Dance
Well that was depressing as fuck. Chloe was crying in the back of the auditorium. Kalani literally convulses on the floor at the end. I hated it. But the dancing was REALLY good. These girls are very cohesive. Technically, it was fantastic. The crowd loved it. The girls are proud of their performance.
Ellie wins second place. She lost to Allie by one TENTH of a point. Yolanda is heartbroken.
Brynn came in third and Kalani won.
Candy Apple’s group dance came in fourth. ALDC won first place.
The reason we didn’t get a halftime brawl apparently is so they could save their energy for after awards. Abby and Kathy really go after each other. As Kathy is being tossed out she screams at one of her dancers”Gimme this!” and snatches their trophy from her. Then she pitches it hard toward all the ALDC moms. Luckily no one was hit. The minis are terrified. Jeanette, who is Ava’s mom decides that she can’t tolerate Kathy anymore. She wants to pull Ava out of Candy Apples.
Abby gives the girls tons of compliments and there is a lot of discussion about “the end of the road.” Everyone breaks down in tears.
The season ends with even more tears when Chloe and Christy show up after Abby leaves. Chloe wants to come back, but apparently only if Abby goes to prison. I think that Abby’s sentencing was postponed so many times that we will have more episodes. You know they are going to film her getting sentenced on Friday. If she doesn’t get prison time, and it is possible she won’t, then the show will go on. If she does do time, they might just have another teacher and Chloe will be back.
That was an emotionally exhausted two hours. I need a fun watch now!
