Dance Moms: Battle of The Blondes

January 29, 2017 by tamaratattles 4 Comments

As usual, Abby’s pyramid is fairly nonsensical. Lili is on the top, which makes sense. We find out today that Lili rarely speaks, even in confessional.  Lili and Brynn both have solos. Abby indicates that there may be a third to be added later.

The group dance is about polygamy. Because, of course. The minis are not it the group dance, and Maesi is allowed to rehearse but will probably be pulled.

And what of that mysterious third solo? Abby has brought in yet another new girl named Jane. She’s blonde. Thus the title, Battle of the Blondes this week. Jane is also in the group dance. Jane is drop dead gorgeous. Maesi gets pulled from the group dance. Abby and her mother go at each other.

Abby decides let Jane concentrate on the group dance and not do a solo. Yet, she still seems to leave the door open for a solo for Jane. Make up your mind, Abby!  Jane’s mom says that if they have the time, Jane would love to still do a solo.  Abby wants to know if Jane has a better face than Brynn. Jane’s mom says she does. So Brynn’s jumps from the bleachers, runs up to the new mom and starts scream in her face. The new mom, unfamiliar with the fake fight scenes is unable to control her laughter. I like this new mom.

We come back from commercial and suddenly Maesi has a solo. As the story goes, one of Maesi’s dance teachers posted a video of Maesi doing a hip hop dance online.  Within just a few days, it got a million views.  So apparently Abby found out about that and decided to add her to the solo list. It’s literally musical solos this week. Who will actually perform theirs?

And just like that, it seems like Maesi is out. Abby makes her nervous and she forgets her routine. This is just insanity this week. Maesi is either sick or just exhausted. After Maesi throws up in the bathroom, the other moms all want Maesi to stay home. These moms are so mean. Maesi and her mom drive themselves to the competition. It looks like her solo is back on.

Lilli’s Solo

After getting the top overall score last week, Lili is doing an “Americana” route this week called Route 66.  She did great. It was very cutesy. Lots of tumbling tricks. She did the choreography she was given. Probably enough to win her age group. Nothing spectacular.

Maesi’s Solo

Abby keeps talking about how Maesi’s hip hop solo could bring a lot of dancers to her studio. I wonder if she has plans in place to have someone run her business if she goes to prison.  We should find out more on that February, 24th. Here’s the latest. See updated post.

Maesi’s dance was great. It reminded me a lot of Jo Jo with the Bow Bow. I miss that kid.

Brynn’s Solo

Brynn’s solo is called Botched. She begins the dance with her face wrapped in lace gauze. It’s a moving, lyrical kind of odd choreography. Abby loved it. In fact, she was moved to tears. So did a couple of the other moms. Sounds like a winner to me. Did Abby ever cry over any of Maddie’s dances?

This doesn’t look like a perfect score…

The Group Dance

The group looks great in hot pink dresses and hats with netting. The group dance was good. Jane fit in well. I don’t think anyone had any idea what the dance was about. It was just a pretty little pink lyrical. But Abby seemed pleased. Kalani has a big dramatic exit at the end that was well received.

The Judges

Brynn’s solo takes a surprising third place overall. Maesi takes second place with her hip hop routine. Lili wins first with her Route 66 number. It’s a clean sweep for the ALDC. Lilli’s mom is shocked. So am I.

The group wins first place. Not only that, they got a PERFECT SCORE.  Looks like we will be keeping Jane!

Except that’s not what Abby wants. Even with a perfect score, Abby still wants to continue to try out other dancers. So Jane is not going to be sticking around.

Chloe WINS!

Next Week: The girls go back to Pittsburgh to compete. It will be the last time Abby sees the studio. I don’t know if that means she has sold it, or if she means the last time before she goes to prison. Her sentencing has been postponed many times by both sides. But is seems pretty certain that she will be sentenced on February 24th.

OMG! CHLOE SHOWS UP AT A COMPETITION! Why am I so excited about this?

Intense episode. I can’t wait till the sentence is decided for Abby so we can get on without that overhead. Noticed for awards it looked like them and a few others. Maybe it’s a redo of awards? Can’t wait for next week, but never can handle Chloe being treated badly. Only reason I can’t watch early seasons, have a real weak spot for Chloe.

Thank you for the recap Tamara. I love the mini dancers !! I would be happy if both minis got solos every week and the the older girls could do trios, duets or 1 solo and no moms except to help with hair and makeup. The older girls could do the group dance. That would make my Dance Moms world happy. Jill and Holly always trying to be the head screechers and the rest of the moms screeching right behind them. Some people will do anything for their 15 minutes of fame and money. I really enjoyed the dancing this week. Wishing you and Banjo well.

I’m still more into this show than a lot of others I recap.

I don’t see why at least the usual trial watchers are not following Abby’s sentencing. It’s fascinating to watch her deal with it on TV.

If that were happening to me, I would not be able to leave the house, let alone FILM A REALITY SHOW while it is all happening. I’d also probably pop a bitch in the mouth from confronting me about it on TV.
