Teen Mom 2: A New Arrival & And A Planned Departure

January 21, 2017 by tamaratattles 16 Comments

Once again I am two episodes behind on Teen Mom 2. I really need a break from the news, so I am going to get caught up on my usual “day off.”  I’m going to at least hit the highlights, and then hopefully my On Demand will be fully restored after not one but two power outages today and I can return to my current happy place by binge watching The Good Place.

Chelsea

Chelsea announces to her producer that she is having a baby on Valentine’s day. I think the producer was more excited than the parents. It’s always interesting how reality show folks bond with their producer over the years. There is usually one producer for each person, especially on Teen Mom where they are all in different cities. They really do bond over the years. It reminds me of when Kenya was so upset about Matt and asked to speak with her producer off camera.

That pig is a media whore. I swear it gets camera time in every scene! Aubree is excited about being a big sister  Chelsea is starting to understand that the more knowledge you have about the world, the more anxiety you have about things. She is nervous her second pregnancy in a way she never was the first time. She buys a little machine that lets you listen to the baby’s heartbeat. They film he hearing it for the first time and it was so sweet. I am so glad Chelsea is on this show. You really do need one decent mother. Cole might be the last decent straight man on earth.

Leah

I swear these teen moms buy a house every season. I do understand Lean needing a ranch to deal with the wheelchair situation. It does look like a great place for the kids.

Leah’s brother sets up a slip and slide for the girls. Leah lets Ali play on the slide without a helmet! She is supposed to be in a helmet whenever she is not in her wheelchair. After I paused to write about the helmet, Leah puts kneepads and sunglasses on Ali and asks if she wants to wear her helmet. She of course says no. Leah agrees but says if she starts falling she will have to put the helmet on. Um, that is not how this is supposed to work. That’s like putting on a seat beat after you have crashed the car.

In the second episode, we find out that West Virginia had a severe flood. So many homes were lost. Despite Leah’s homes not being affected, she failed to get her move done before her final date at the new house. She asked the landlord for another week and he wants her to pay the entire month. She claims her monthly rent is $1850.  I admit I haven’t rented in many years, but that seems like a lot for a house in the middle of nowhere West Virginia.  Plus, I am sure she is going to lose her entire security deposit on the rental. Why has she been renting all these years anyway?

Jeremy came home to help out his parents ended up having to take Addie to Ohio with him and his family to escape the flood. Apparently, Leah was out “volunteering” on the day Addie was supposed to come home. She sure was done up for volunteering.  I’d think if you are a single mom with three kids,  there would not be a lot of time to be volunteering. Perhaps the twins were with their dad at the same time?

I’m watching this scene with Leah and her friend who “helps with the girls” the blonde one. And I am reminded of something I read recently about her only watching the girls to be on TV and that she has now left the show Leah and the girls. And there were some other allegations about how the two adults liked to wind down from a hard day of filming, but I’m not a thousand percent sure I am remembering that correctly.

Anyway, back to the train wreck, Leah is not taking Jeremy’s calls now. Despite the fact that he is out of the state with her child, and she just had it out with him over not taking her calls.  Jeremy has resorted to calling production, whom he is less than fond of, to try to reach the mother of his child that he likes even less. But Leah will not take the calls.

Janelle

OMG! That donut is so adorable. But even though Janelle has worked out the visitation of the donut with Nathan she is refusing to let him visit because she doesn’t know his address and has no proof he has the stuff needed to care for a kid. Eventually work it out just in time for Janelle and her latest asshole boyfriend to take Jace and the asshole’s daughter on a road trip to Disney  World. Janelle seems to be on a vacation to somewhere every episode. They actually rented a house in Orlando? Or maybe that was production for filming reasons. It would be hard to film at the Motel 6.  Janelle is made at Nathan because his mom took Kaiser to the park without Nathan. Jenelle and David are talking crap about Nathan while Jace is sitting right there listening to the entire “adult” conversation. How is grandma taking the doughnut to the park by herself for an hour or two a bad thing. It’s not like when Ryan’s parents on Teen Mom OG had their grandkid for Ryan’s entire weekend.

The short seen with Nathan and the doughnut was adorable.

It looks like Janelle and David have decided not to leave Orlando when they were supposed to and are staying another day for one more theme park David wants to go to, I assume. Barb is insisting that when she meets to pick up Kaiser, that she meet at the same time to pick up Jace.  Janelle wants to keep Jace another week. Barb says no. Jenelle has a hissy fit and sees no similarities to what she is doing to Nathan.  The world’s worst boyfriend, David, then asks Jace, who is once again hearing all of this on speakerphone from the back seat, would you rather be with us for the week or in daycare (which is basically the summer camp Barb is paying for at $150 a week). Jace says, “Daycare is really, really fun. They have like tennis and stuff.”  I love Jace.  Then Janelle says that if he stays with her, they can do sports.  David agrees. Then Jace says…

“Yeah, but I will miss Mommy so much.”

Kailyn

The situation with Javi is just heartbreaking. He will be finished with the deployment soon, and as we know divorce is imminent. Isaac is going to be heartbroken. During filming at Kail’s she refuses to take Javi’s call on camera and is very testy with production. Next, we see Javi calling his friend to say that he and Kail are getting a divorce.  Jo is really, really chill with the Javi situation. He is willing for Isaac to visit with Javi and he’s willing to have Lincoln come to Isaac’s visitation with him. Jo is all grown up now!  So can we finally put an ‘e’ on his name now?  That bugs me.

Kailyn is pretty in these scenes. I think this is before she had eleventy billion surgeries. Why do people voluntarily have surgery? Kailyn decides to go to Puerto Rico with some friends. And the boys. And production. To be fair, she really is emotional about the divorce. She doesn’t normally show emotions on the show.

The boys make welcome home signs for Javi. Kailyn start referring to Javi as “Lincoln’s dad” which is upsetting Isaac. Kailyn is a great mom to the boys, but she tends to let her feelings about their fathers’ influence the relationship between the boys and their dad. Or dads in Isaac’s case.

When Javi comes home for the joyous reunion, Isaac and Lincoln catch him up on the important stuff. Lincoln says that Mom keeps eating his food because there are poisonous spots.  Then Isaac starts talking about Puerto Rico.  Javi asks about the trip and what he saw there. Before Isaac can answer, Kail says, “IGUANAS!”  This sufficiently gets Isaac off on that topic. I immediately realize that Kail was there with a guy (and some friends). That Kail is a crafty one.  Javi is supposed to take both boys to camp. He announces he has a new truck. Um, hasn’t he been home less than 24 hours? How did that happen? He asks to borrow the car seats for the boys. Kail says he can use an extra she has for Lincoln, but not Isaac’s. Um (A) really? and (6) why would Isaac need a car seat? Does he even need a booster seat? Isn’t he like six going on seven? Kail says she can take them both and he can follow in his truck WTF? If she doesn’t want to loan the car seats, can’t he just leave the truck at her house and ride with her? Why is she such a bitch for no reason? I don’t understand this entire situation.

Eventually, she agrees to let Javi use the car seats.  Sure enough, Isaac is in a booster. Is he small for his age? But she insists on going with him. Ah, that was her issue. And she insults his new truck. And Toyota. While I get her point. It’s never wise to degrade a brand if you are on a reality show. I am surprised they left that in. On the way to camp, Kail starts asking about Javi’s new house. He is noncommittal about where it is. He hasn’t even closed on it yet. Javi tells the boys (basically Isaac) that he will have to take them by to see it. Isaac says he wants a Jurassic Park bedroom.  Kail lets him know in uncertain terms he will not have his own bedroom and that maybe he can go visit and share a room with Lincoln. Isaac doesn’t understand. I want to explain to Isaac that his mom is being a bitch, but I can’t because I’m watching a TV show.

We end with a sad montage of three out of four of the Teen Mom’s kids. And then Chelsea and Cole and Aubree happy as three clams in one shell.

Kailynn is going to end up looking as bad as Jenelle if she keeps Javi from being a father to both boys.

Oh dear these moms. Well, I was married 5 years, when my daughter was 4 months, divorced, had a son with my ex after 10 years, remarried 2years later, married 8, divorced, still together. 35 years total. Always explaining to anyone I kinda dated, I still hooked up with my ex, part of the deal. Neither of us remarried, just realized that we are great not married!! Pressures from family caused everything. But anyhow. Sorry, really digressed. My point is when I divorced, there never was a time when I would EVER let another man play daddy to my daughter. I never socialized, except when she was with her dad, it’s easy. I can’t stand David acting like he’s donuts and Jaces dad. I can’t imagine, and being in the situation, it is so bad to mess with these kids security, who they should love, like, call daddy etc. Just ugh. But I won’t miss an episode. 🙂

I never seem to be able to catch this show anymore and appreciate these recaps. The donut is really, really ridiculously cute, my god. Jenelle is a terrible person. I feel for Barb. Jace seems like he’s got some behavioral problems and it’s hard to imagine how stupid you have to be to let a kid listen to that shit. He’s going to miss Mommy? Of course he is. Barb’s the only stability he’s ever known.

Poor Isaac He’ll never understand this. And no “e” on Jo has always bugged me, too. It really blows me away that Leah is still allowed to be around those girls unsupervised. I can’t believe I still follow this damn show.

I think it comes on at the same time as RHOBH or something and there is another show I tape in that slot as well so I tape a late night rerun and usually don’t get a chance to watch it until the weekend. Same with Dance Moms.

Kailynnn has always appeared to have some kind of emotion chip missing from her robotic personality. I won’t call her Kail because I only use nicknames for people I like and, if I knew her in real life, I would stay as far away from her as I could. How such a grumpy, self-centered woman even manages to get a guy, let alone more than one, is beyond me – she’s cold, hurtful and thoughtless. Poor little kids – it doesn’t seem to enter her head that she’s damaging them. Anyway, enough of the anti-Kaitlynn comments. I agree 100% with everything in this recap – didn’t like Chelsea at all in the beginning because she seemed like a sneaky, spoiled little Daddy’s girl, but she’s matured into by far the best of the bunch. So nice to see her doing well.

Women like Kail make it hard on the rest of moms who try to put the kids first. What’s she going to do when Javi has a girlfriend who wants to put her two cents in? I’m trying to be more aware of editing to create a story line. Do you think this is really the way it is, Tamara, or is it a sympathy edit for Javi?

Javi seems to think they edit him to look bad. Probably not in this episode but in others.

Teen mom has less storyline from production that ensemble shows. These people are taped individually in their daily lives. We see production. We get to hear some of the things they are asked about. Teen Mom is more about phony people (Farrah) and people hiding their issues or trying to (Leah).

The guys usually think they look bad because they don’t have as much air time and don’t know what the moms have said about them so they can’t defend it.

I’m worried that all this production, editing fuss from the cast is not gonna blow up the show.

I feel so bad for Issac. He’s such a sensitive and sweet little guy. I hope he gets to see Javi and adjusts to the changes in his family. It’s still strange to me he seems to think Javi is his “daddy.” I hope Kail will think twice before allowing him to call another man dad. It’s too confusing for the child.

I see absolutely no problem with him calling Javi dad. Javi loves, and adores Isaac, and they have a very special bond. I’ve always been very impressed with Javi since he first appeared on the show, the way he took to Isaac, and always put Isaacs best interest, and feelings first. Great job dad!! Blood doesn’t make you family, love does!!

So the lesson is to get pregnant at a young age then go from man to man & pop out a few more kids to different fathers. . Janelle should be thankful her mother stepped in to care for Jace & stop fighting over him- Leah’s a mess- Kail is a good mum but has lots of issues. Chelsea & Cole are just barf material. . They all seem to jump into these relationships & have children then wonder why things don’t work out- I suppose there would be no show then if it was too boring. .I watch in horror & fascination & I don’t know why.

It’s so sad watching these girls continue to turn their lives upside down over and over again (with Chelsea as the exception), especially with kids involved. I had high hopes for Kail, but I’m not so sure anymore.

In regards to the booster seat, my oldest is 8 and she’s still in a booster. This is from the HealthyChildren.org site – “All children whose weight or height exceeds the forward-facing limit for their car seat should use a belt-positioning booster seat until the vehicle seat belt fits properly, typically when they have reached 4 feet 9 inches in height and are 8 through 12 years of age. Most children will not fit in most vehicle seatbelts without a booster until 10 to 11 years of age.”

Isaac was too big for that particular booster seat or it needed the back taken off. The idea is that the booster positions the shoulder belt in the right place, in this case the belt was way too low on Isaac’s chest making it unsafe.

I don’t understand Kail being so hateful and mean to Javi. she seems to have a problem showing emotion except anger. Now, baby #3 by father #3. I don’t see that being planned. I feel for her as she didn’t have a good example but you have to grow up and own it and get some help. You have Isaac attached to Javi and, yes, he can legally come into the home as long as there is no separation or divorce or order of protection. You BOTH own it until assets are divided. I can’t believe how much you’ve changed. I was a teen mom and I went to and finished college and was married to an abuser and I guess I should’ve been like you when I dealt with him but my kids and the environment they lived in came first.
    Good luck.
