Just wanted to let you all know that Top Chef has moved to Thursdays starting tonight. Its a really fun season so far. We’ve had three eliminations and only one female chef has gone so far! It’s like a Christmas miracle. That said, I predict the Vagicide by Collichio to begin in earnest tonight. On the other hand, there are a couple of female chefs with a good shot at winning. And of course there is the breakout fan favorite, Jim Smith, Executive Chef for the State of Alabama. As it turns out, I know someone who is BFF’s with Jim and sent me a short little documentary they made about a famous chicken shack in Troy, Alabama. Jim does sort of a critique of two of the stores. It’s a cute watch, but I should warn you not to watch if you’re hungry. I’ll post the Youtube at the end of this post. You can catch the new episode tonight at 10 p.m. on Bravo.
Tonight is also the season finale of Project Runway. If you haven’t been watching this season, you can get caught up on all the fabulous recaps by fashion expert extraordinaire, CJ Bomb here. CJ is hysterical. And she usually has someone equally amusing watching along with her. If you are stuck in a room at your in-laws looking for something to read online, scroll all the way back to the first episode of the season and get to reading. The finale is at a new time tonight from 8-10 p.m on Lifetime.

EDITED: I forgot an really important part! Project Runway Junior starts tonight at 10! On Lifetime!
In other programming notes, PBS is re-airing lots of Downton Abbey stuff this weekend. Tomorrow at noon they are airing the episode about filming the show and how they make sure to do everything the proper way. Then on Monday, last they are running the Entire First Season from 12-8. I am not sure I ever saw the first season, so this is exciting news. Even better, on Tuesday the run the entire season 2 back starting at noon. On Wednesday at noon they start season three. Thursday is season 4, Friday is season 5 and Saturday is the sixth and finale season. EVERY SINGLE DOWNTON ABBEY EPISODE! What a great Christmas present from PBS!
Enjoy!
Ooops!
I forgot the Crowe’s Chicken documentary!
AMC is also showing the whole series of Breaking Bad. I’ve never seen Downton Abbey or Breaking Bad. Now I don’t know which to watch. Any suggestions?
I absolutely loved Downton Abbey. Haven’t seen Breaking Bad, so can’t speak to that. If you enjoy British humor, try Doc Martin. Its hysterical!
You can’t go wrong either way. I think you are probably more the Breaking Bad type. But, give both a one episode trial maybe?
And when does Breaking Bad start, Charter/Spectrum makes it impossible to find the channel number so I need to know much time I have to find the channel number for AMCHD.
BB starts on the 26th. I’m LOLing that I’m more Breaking Bad because it’s so true!
I know. I never even considered Downton. Until I watched. You would love that too. Can’t you DVR them both?
I’m gonna try but I don’t think I have room in my dvr. I’m a tv hoarder. It’s a real problem.
Lady C you must watch Downton Abbey. Each episode is a cinametic experience.
Thanks for the recommendation, UF. I don’t usually enjoy period pieces but I think this might be the exception.
Is it me or are there the most commercials in a row ever on tonight’s Project Runway finale – like they took 42 minutes of filming and added 78 minutes of ads?
when you watch PR on demand it’s an hour long, with commercials. they lard the show up with all the extra commercials, product placement, hair and makeup sales pitch and voila, you’ve made a 45 minute show into a frustrating 1.5 hours of torture. Thank God for Tim Gunn. The bowling scene last week alone made the show worth while.
I’m wondering if they did a 42 minute edit for this year’s series finale, had a herd of make good ads to fulfill their contracts, and filled in the extra time left with PR Jr. previews.
Project Runway hasn’t started yet… getting my jammies on, and might open a bottle of wine to boot! I am way behind on Top Chef, but brought both my laptop and my tablet to watch them in my bedroom for the holiday weeked (where I go for Christmas, there isn’t a TV in my room) Thank goodness everyone here tonight also watch PR!
Tamara – Merry Christmas to you, dear talented lady!
I know I rarely comment, and when I do it is often in response to political stuff. But I’m now, as of July, a Medicare-eligible old liberal bitch and I only want to waste my internet brain suck on worthy writing. You are always a must read.
Personally, I’m glad you’ve ‘drained the swamp’ here (to use a horrible metaphor from Cheeto Jesus). I quit watching the ‘Housewives’ a year or so ago, but I love reading your recaps, though I’m still tempted to watch the NYC one. The Atlanta ‘ladies’ lost me with Nene and Porsha (or however she spells her name) and the Underground Railroad.
In other words, keep doing what you do so beautifully. You do have loyal readers that are not trolls, rather educated people who appreciate your talent.
Let’s hope that 2017 is not as awful as this year has been for many of us. I was slightly encouraged tonight by Rachel Maddow’s interview with KellyAnne Conway. Delusion seems to be the new normal. I will not accept that, nor did Rachel, and that is my new year’s resolution. I’ll start moving, physically and politically, to make things better. For my health and for my community, starting with Planned Parenthood.
Happy Holidays, dear Tamara.
Joanne
Agree, loved Rachel’s interview with KellyAnne Conway. Also, loving this season of Top Chef. Project Runway Junior started off good. These young designers might be better than the adults!
I love Jim! He seems so thankful to be there. I love that he is not some owner of 3 restaurants and just a down to earth guy with great talent for his craft. It must burn the balls of some of the chef owners of restaurants with these over inflated egos that he is doing so well. Keep up the good work Jim I’m rooting for you!!!
There is no Downton Abbey on in my area. Why??
