After a season of Distracted Kate, Lesbian Kate, Matchmaker Kate, tonight’s Below Deck finally brings us the Kate we love to hate: Resting Bitch Face is back. I, for one, couldn’t be happier. It’s the final charter. Kate thinks her crew has senioritis but she’s not willing to lower her expectations. Their guests, a group of former models, sound high maintenance. They’re going to drive Kate crazy. Kelley, on the other hand, is excited. Older women love him (or so he claims). Kate makes a big deal about her crew staying on their radio so you know that’s going to be an issue this episode. And there’s Kate calling Emily while Emily and Ben snog with no radio in sight. Start the fireworks!
The guests arrive with lots of squeals and a photographer in tow. They cheer their Lifestyle blog. Does that mean they get to write off the trip? The squeals never end. Kate is already annoyed. So am I. Kelley tries to channel Kate and manipulate the guests away from the floating pool. It works. She may be a bitch but she knows what she’s doing. We get scene after scene of the girls losing their radios. Kate literally ties a radio to Sierra. She explains that brains and beauty are a hard combo to find. “And Sierra’s just really pretty. So pretty.”
Kate compares the guests to a Lifetime movie. They spend their whole lunch congratulating themselves on their amazing business acumen and generous hearts. They’re getting their money’s worth out of this (televised) trip.
Ben and Emily flirt in the kitchen while Kate runs around, working. Kate decides she needs more help so she abolishes breaks. Sierra and Emily are not pleased. It’s the final charter. Just suck it up and get through it. Gah, I can’t believe I’m defending Kate. I blame Sierra and Emily. They pushed me to this.
Sierra loses her radio again and takes it out on Kyle. Tensions run high. Kelley tells Kyle to fix it but he’s unwilling to apologize. So Kelley tries. Sierra doesn’t realize what’s going on and it turns into an argument. They’re acting like children. Sierra complains to Kate. You know Kate, the one that’s running around doing all the work. She doesn’t have much patience for it. “I don’t have time to deal with another Sierra freakout because all I have time for is the job we’re doing.” Kyle wants reassurance from his crew mates but all Nico and Lauren want to do is bash Kate. Thank goodness this is the final charter. These people need a break from each other.
We get a cute montage of the guests driving Captain Lee crazy. He manages to hide it because, adult.
The deck crew asks Sierra to pack drinks for the guest trip. She’s overwhelmed and complains to Kate. Kate asks Kelley to not add extra tasks during breakfast service. He runs to the deck crew and leads a group discussion about what a bitch Kate is. In the galley, Ben inserts himself in stewardess business (again) and scuffles with Kate. Kate checks the guest rooms and find full trashes and empty toilet paper rolls. Unacceptable. She brings the empty toilet paper rolls to her strews for show and tell. She’s actually nicer about it than I would be. But the girls are pissed. This has to-be-continued written all over it.
Next week: It’s the season finale! Kyle and Sierra fight. Ben and Kate fight. Emily tries to stay out of the fray. Kyle (maybe) proposes to his girlfriend and Ben breaks up with Kate (i.e.: I no longer want to be your friend).
Thanks for keeping things going while TT is away from the site. Enjoyed the recap!
Yes thank you T. I look forward to the cut the shit recaps. I like to read this first, then watch the episode later. Haven’t seen tonight’s yet , but they seem to be more scripted every episode. I seriously wanted to punch The POS last week, will call him Richard! He’s a fame whore and humiliated the staff. That asshole needs to take some serious meds or get off what ever he is on. No joke. Someone needs to get him a mirror to look at himself inside and out.
Me too
Referring to mama z enjoyed the recap and thank you for the recap now I don’t need to struggle through the episide 🙂
Kyle’s getting on my last nerve. He’s a bit of a gossipy bitch. I’m beginning to think he was specifically hired for the show, not necessarily as a replacement deck hand for the Valor crew. He’s been an attention whore since day one and his story line has taken precedence over the rest of the crew. Now we get to watch him propose to a woman he was ready to cheat on as little as three weeks ago? Attention everyone….look at meeeee!!
Yeah, I agree, seems bizarre!
Kyle broke up with Ashley. He now has a second child with his baby mother.Ashley is single and so is Kyle.
Nooooooooooooooo.
Kate is a bitch! But she introduced me to the phrase ” resting bitch face” fits so many people I know!
Kelly disappointed me this season as I have a cougar soft spot for him. However, he really dropped the anchor this season, he tried to be “friends” with his staff when you just can’t reallly., especially when you are NEW to a senior position!
Ben was a dick this season and I typically like him. He set out I think to make Kate jealous, because he didn’t like the fact she HAD a “girlfriend” and he didn’t! I think he was manipulative of the Emily situation for that reason! That said though, from updates they are still together and Ben has learned Yoga, could we see a more ZEN side of him next season?
Lauren, played her hand well though miss reading niko who miss read Emily! Making a messy triangle! But at least they worked it out like adults. And not fight.
Sierras well Kate didn’t like Amy at first either and thought she was a space cadet, and now they are friends. It’s hard to be a single white female in a yacht with horney single men after you and keep your Witt!
Kyle, is a douche bag! He treats ALL women like pieces of Ass and below him.
Captain Lee was off this season I felt! He was a crotchety old man! I think power is getting to his head. I also think He and Kate have side action little June November romance!
Captain and Kate got sick of babysitting. Just because people get along doesn’t mean a romance.
I really grew to dislike Lauren. She not only gossiped a lot, she got her facts twisted and that can cause a lot of problems.
Agree
For some reason I have chosen to watch Below Deck while DVRing “This is Us”, a show so good that I don’t want the story line interrupted by commercials. But I am so very tired of Below Deck that I was willing to sit through all the commercials run during TIU. Thank god the final episode is next week. Although these recaps are better than the show. Please sink these people. Please sink the boat. And for god’s sake, Bravo, sink this show.
I would have sent Sierra home. Kate wasn’t exactly being nitpicky about the suites – emptying out a full trash can and making sure they have TOILET PAPER is pretty fucking basic.
Sierra WAS rude. Kyle and Lauren need to shut their yaps, and Kelly needs to have Kate’s back as a fellow supervisor. Correct me if I am wrong, when they have asked the deck crew to help it was always during deck crew’s down time and has the person in charge, Kate is the one who asked. Kelly should have asked.
Although I totally get Kate’s frustration, I thought the whole thing the radio to sierra was extremely rude and condescending. I would’ve done what sierra did in that situation and rip the string off too. Both her an Emily worked hard all charter season and don’t deserve to be treated like children
Tying* excuse me lol
The lead charter guest said something about being KIND…I really liked it, but now cant remember what she said. Anyone remember?
Alarming no Charmin? No Cottonelle, what the hell? Great Scott!
Thanks for the recaps my Lady!
All the beautiful women who have worked on the boat and Ben is smitten by a cross between a bug and a bird, homely as can be.
And missing a tooth..
Don’t be a bitch, Ben isn’t exactly a looker. Or a catch.
These Charter workers seem to get confused that they are the employees not the guests.
I agree. They paid for filming and maybe something for being working and then the TIPS!
A stewardess means being waitress/housekeeper/ clean up! You signed up so appreciate it! .
They are so judgemental of the guest! It doesn’t matter if they are happy or grumpy they find something about the guests to complain about.
It’s a charter..guess some don’t understand that they are guests! Take them as they are..They tip you based on their experience on the charter.
Sierra the worst.. for me. The TP fiasco ..the other stews fluffed off. Kate is always on her game.
I love Below Deck. Even with all the tomfoolery I still love it more than any of the Housewife shows. Maybe because a part of me knows that if I was cooped up on a boat with that many people for a WEEKEND never mind six weeks I would end up as an episode on the ID channel. That being said however, this is what they did sign up for and Princess Emily is not immune because Ben thinks he is above everyone else. (previews for next week left me WHAT???) Sierra is more than annoying with her never being responsible as is Kyle. Love me my Captain always and forever though. I also think Kelley might be on the right track. Not that anyone asked my opinion lol. Is it true there is no reunion though?
Sundayhare, I’m laughing about the episode on the ID channel; I couldn’t be cooped up with these idiots either without committing a felony. As we know, the Captain is helping Kelley on his career. You don’t bust someone’s ass unless you care and think they are worth the time.
I realize it’s scripted, but WTF? ELDERLY models? Any one of those “elderly” women is better looking than any one of the crew. I can’t stand a single person on this show anymore, which is a shame. At least “Resting Bitch Face” is professional most of the time–the rest of them remind me of my former pre-school classes on a really bad day, Although the kids were cute, at least. My Bravo shows are toppling like dominos, and good riddance! ?
Ugh, as an experienced team leader I can honestly tell you that Kate lacks pretty much all of the skills needed to be a good chief stew. She is petty, selfish, ego-maniacal and passive aggressive. Add to that she is moody and cannot manage to be positive on the outside effectively. Most people in customer service learn that you must be able to smile even when you don’t feel it. You have to put away the negative feelings and do your job. She is quick to blame everyone else. She even lies to avoid consequences of her own actions. If I were one of the fellow yachties and I watched the season after the fact I would have come away with even more disrespect. She makes for good TV but man, I wouldn’t hire her if she paid me.
