I’ve been meaning to write this post about Nene Leakes for a long time. You remember Nene Leakes, she used to be on that show, Real Housewives of Atlanta. She liked to tell everyone how rich she is. Maybe she actually believed that she was. But the IRS is coming after her for $824,366 in unpaid taxes in 2014. The state of California is also looking for their state taxes from 2014. Nene owes that state $86,624. The state of Georgia would like 95,232.93.
I’m guessing that Nene Leakes is wishing she would have taken the contract Bravo asked her to take for season nine rather than losing in a game of chicken with them. Her little comedy shows are probably fun. But I did see a video of her cursing out someone in the audience who called her a Porsha hater. And I do mean cursing. She punctuated each sentence, not with a period, but with the word bitch. I don’t think she is making enough money to heat her giant house on the comedy gigs.
So what is a girl gonna do?
Nene Leakes has joined a get rich quick scheme. She’s also got Gregg, Brice and even Brentt mixed up in it as well. It looks like Nene Leakes is returning to her scamming roots. Nene has been hooked in by Stormy Wellington who has been very successful at a multi-level marketing business (MLM). MLM’s are a lot like Ponzi/pyramid schemes. Except the latter is illegal. The primary difference between an MLM and a pyramid scheme is that the MLM must sell an actual product. In Nene’s case the products are weight loss tea, sexual enhancement pills, and special vitamins. Maybe the special vitamins that Sonja takes. Kidding. Sort of.
When you join a MLM your real mission is to sign up other people in the MLM. Everyone you get to join generates more commission for you. You also have to pay to join. Then you become an “individual business operator.” Most intelligent people know to avoid these types of things. Nene is convinced it is going to make her rich. I do think it is possible for Nene to make money at this if she can get all her fans and a bunch of assorted other fools to sign up under her. Stormy is a genius for pulling Nene in. Nene’s fanbase is the exact kind of population that these MLMs thrive on. The chance that Stormy is actually sitting at home mailing out sexual enhancement drugs to the masses in very slim. Stormy just sits around waiting for her checks to roll in. Depending on how many people Nene can convince to buy into the program, she could actually generate some income. In my opinion, for the average person, they are so low down on the pyramid, there is not a lot of opportunity for commission. If you have become wildly successful and make millions from a MLM I’ll be happy to hear your story of success.
What motivated me to finally write about this today is that Nene went to Haiti to have one of her little cocktails parties where everyone gets lubed up and worked up into a frenzy by speakers who sound like evangelist preachers assuring them that God wants them all to be millionaires. Then they are asked to write a check to get in on the deal. See for me, that is a deal breaker. Anytime you have to pay someone else to make a lot of money later… that is a red flag.
When I went to pull photos for this story I noticed that Nene is deleting all of her ads for these little “Cocktails and Conversations with Nene” after the event. Is she embarrassed? She certainly doesn’t mention that the reason she is in Haiti is to get hard working Haitians to part with their money. I wonder why?
