Project Runway: Seeing Red

By CJ Bomb

Hey everyone and welcome to Project Runway week 7!  Last week produced some interesting discussion in the comments regarding your favorites and some people thought I was nuts for my faves. Love the opinions, even though we may not agree, so keep them coming! I have two pre-teen and teenage boys, NOTHING hurts my feelings. It is always interesting to hear other points of view. I once spent an evening I can never get back arguing with someone on whether Kim Kardashian is a fashion icon. Daphne Guinness and Isabella Blow are fashion icons. Kim is not and never will be. My opinion. But……I digress…

Last week really unsettled Cornelius. He called it a “mishap” and he’s ready to begin anew. In Project Runway world I call a statement like this “foreshadowing”. The Sally Beauty rep shows up on the runway to help explain the challenge. The designers are going to be divided into teams not of their choosing and create mini collections with will be displayed in a storefront on live models. The storefront is in Soho and people on the street will get the chance to vote for their favorite collection with that vote counting towards 20 percent of the final decision for the win. Sally Beauty wants to highlight three color palettes, Red-Violets, Hues of Blues and Nude-Neutrals.

Tim pulls out the dreaded button bag. The first two designers he picks for the Red-Violet palette are Erin and Dexter. They squeal like little girls who got picked to play kickball together on the playground. The third team member is……..Cornelius. Cornelius is (rightly) thinking OH FUCK. Being paired with two friends is never a good thing as you know exactly who will be thrown under the bus if things go off the rails. Especially these two. Mah-Jing is thinking the exact same thing as he gets paired with Jenni and Nathalia for the Nude-Natural palette team. The three mature adults, Laurence, Roberi and Rik get the Hues of Blues palette. I immediately pick them for the win, mainly because I think they will be the only team with no drama.

pr-blue

During the sketching Team Red-Violet is working just how I expected. No one is listening to Cornelius and Dex and Erin want to do a punk rock vibe. Oh, and Erin is designing an oversize take on a moto coat. Because she’s Erin. Cornelius is worried that there is too much red and that they should break it up. The two-headed monster doesn’t care what he has to say. Over on team Neutral-Nude MJ is feeling just as left out as Nat and Jenni are planning a “trendy yet professional” collection. MJ is worried about the lack of “fun” in the collection. Nat actually call Jenni AWAY from MJ to talk about an idea she has. BITCH! I shout at the TV. Jenni redeems herself by saying they should include MJ in these discussions because he’s part of the team. Nat pretty much rolls her eyes and I say bitch again. Softly this time because I don’t want my kids coming downstairs. Team Blue Hues is working quietly together creating a cohesive collection while listening to each other’s ideas. Like the grownups they are.

Tim’s Critique

Team Blue Hues

Roberi says they are trying to do something for a woman who is “strange”. He means unique. Tim tells him to say “different” instead of strange. Tim is worried that there isn’t enough design in the collection especially in a dress that Rik has created and a skirt Roberi is working on. He loves the palettes and the patterns though. He loves Laurence’s work as much as I love Laurence’s work (sorry Tamara, I can’t help myself).

Team Red-Violet

He asks them if they feel good as a team. They say good, very half-heartedly. Tim’s not buying it. Dex is making a red denim “vest dress”. It has no shirt underneath. He notes that Erin has nothing to go with her coat and suggests starting to incorporate each other’s amongst the three looks. Cornelius suggests taking the skirt he made to go with his jacket and pairing it with Erin’s coat. He also repeats he thinks they should be breaking up the reds. Tim says he has chills as he now thinks they are working together and going to pull off and awesome collection. The team shares a group hug. Is it too good to last? Is my foreshadowing wrong??? Hmmmmmm

Team Nude-Neutrals

Tim thinks that their collection is basic. Basic is probably one of the worst words one can hear during a critique. He tells them to pull it together. The girls actually start listening to MJ and re-configuring their outfits. There is no big group hug, however, everyone seems to recognize the need to work together and get it done in a timely and mature fashion.

The Workroom Drama

Roberi is freaking out over doing a new skirt. Rik tells him to re-cut it and make it sexy. Roberi wails that he HATES sexy and then says one of the best things I have ever heard on Project Runway: Sexy shouldn’t be the answer to everything design-wise. Somewhere Porsha, Erika Jayne and countless other Real Housewives are confused and they don’t know why. Now everyone knows that Cornelius is a bit, shall we say, high-strung? To say the very least? But every single designer in the room except those on his team can’t help but notice that he is doing the lion’s share of the grunt work while Erin and Dex are AGAIN hanging out, eating, complimenting each other and doing a lot of nothing in general that has anything to do with the challenge. I don’t know if they are just assuming Tim’s critique meant everything was groovy so that they relax and snack? Cornelius is justifiably pissed off.

The Pop-Up Shops

The live models are in storefronts somewhere in Soho. People are given tokens to put into boxes for their favorite collections. Tim is on the street encouraging them to vote. Most of them are just thrilled to meet Tim. I confess I would have a total fan girl moment myself. The nude/neutral group and blue hues group have styled their outfits subtly to complement the clothing. The Red-Violet team has gone in a “punk rock” direction. Unfortunately it looks more like me and my friends ideas about punk rock when that was our Halloween costume in 6th grade. (In other words, not very punk rock.) The Neutral/Nude group seems to be getting the most votes and Dex snarks that it’s because red is a harder color. THEN WHY DIDN’T YOU LISTEN TO CORNELIUS TO BREAK IT UP TO SOFTEN IT!?!?! Again, foreshadowing…

Get Caught UP On ALL Our HUGE Debates In Comments Here. We Take Our Fashion VERY Seriously!

The Runway

Heidi looks nice again this week. Kelly Osbourne is the guest judge. I like her for judging. She is very articulate, has a good eye and knows what she likes. She is the reality version of Cathy Horyn, who I have dreams about being on this show. That is about as likely as Kim K becoming a fashion icon. Before the show Heidi announces the results from the pop-up shop. Team Nude-Neutral for the win. They each get $500 from Sally Beauty. Heidi makes a note that Dex looks pissed. He denies it. I’m already worried for Cornelius.

Team Neutral-Nude: I love Nat’s pants with Jenni’s “popcorn” sweater. I also love her leggings with the cut in the knee. I would have to wear a huge sweater over them to cover my ass, but I still love them. I think MJ’s dress looks sack-like.

Team Blue Hues: LOVE Roberi’s skirt and sweater. Very cool and much more punk than the team calling themselves punk. Rik’s dress is simple and beautiful and the coat has lots of interesting details without being too busy. I’m getting a Chanel vibe. I’m also loving Laurence’s louche tuxedo look.

Team Red-Violet: I know red is a hard color to appreciate on TV, but there is simply too much of it in this collection. It’s overwhelming. I’m now officially over Erin with the funky coat and Cornelius is going to be screwed because they broke up his cute little suit and put an ill-fitted pleated skirt on his model. Dex thinks he’s soooo avant-garde, but his vest-dress is not all that interesting or daring in my eyes.

My Picks Top: Team Blue with Rik for the win. Bottom: Team Red-Violet with Dex to go.

project-runway-neutrals

The Judges

The judges say that there is no clear loser this week as all the collections were well done. HOWEVER, team neutral-nude is safe, and Team Blue Hue is the winner!  Uh oh. I don’t think there is going to be a kumbaya moment here like the last team challenge. They love the Blue team and think it was very smart to break up all the blue with patterns and whites. Heidi adores every outfit and Nina points out that in using other colors it makes the blue pop. Cornelius looks like he’s about to implode. Zak says it’s cohesive and perfect, Kelly says the SAME THING I thought about Roberi’s outfit, in that it was more punk rock than the other team’s whole collection. They do the PR question where Heidi asks each contestant who should be the winner. Rik says himself. Laurence, ever gracious and awesome, says Roberi and Roberi who is overwhelmed by everything at this point says Rik.

The red-violet team is told that they used too much red and the styling was not good. Since Dex did the styling he should be speaking up. He isn’t. Kelly wants to be clear that they know she doesn’t hate it, she just thinks it didn’t go far enough. Zak says it didn’t transport him. Heidi asks the dreaded question, Who should go home? Cornelius says Dex. Dex came up with the concept and styled it. And then to NO ONE’s surprise Erin and Dex say Cornelius, because of the skirt HE HAD TO MAKE BECAUSE ERIN DIDN’T HAVE ONE AND SHE TOOK HIS. When Heidi tells them this makes no sense they say that Cornelius just isn’t on their wavelength. Now I am full-blown screaming at the TV. WHAT? WHAT? I now remember the last time Kelly was a judge. There was a mean girl issue then too. Kelly wonders why Dex thinks he’s so punk rock if he designed a basic samurai dress? They love Erin’s coat, so she is obviously safe. Tim tells the judges that Dex and Erin didn’t give Cornelius’s ideas a chance. In the waiting room Cornelius sits down and says he’s not going to say anything. Then he UNLOADS. He did the bulk of the work, his ideas were ignored, he fixed everyone else’s mistakes……Dex freaks out on him and it gets so intense MJ gets up to sit between them before a slap-fight can ensue. Erin looks confused. I hated her in that moment.

The Winner: Roberi for the win! His reaction is lovely. Aufe’d Cornelius. The judges tell him he should have stood up for himself. I am now yelling at the TV that there was no way to do that faced with Dexetrin, the two-headed design beast from pseudo-punk hell!

Back in the waiting room Cornelius is hugging everyone goodbye (expect Dex and Erin)…but wait!! Saint Tim is in the room. Cornelius is NOT going home! Tim thinks he has more to show them, so he is using his Tim Gunn save! Everyone starts to cheer except Dexter. Erin runs up to hug Cornelius and tells him how happy she is. Right.

Well that was an emotional rollercoaster, to say the least. Do you agree with the judges this week? Are you happy that Tim used his save for Cornelius? Is Kim K a fashion Icon? (no.). As always, have a wonderful weekend!

Kim K is a modern day Marilyn Monroe: many women hated everything Monroe represented just like today people love to hate Kim.

I’ve been rooting for Roberi since the beginning. Glad he won something.

I think every generation has a glamorous family who have an influence on the culture, for better or worse. The Khardasians are like modern-day Gabors — a little flashy, a little fleshy, but no harm done.

And I don’t think many of many of my fellow white, 30-plus women necessarily understands what it has meant to younger women of color to have a thicker body shape and a darker skin tone become a norm for beauty.

I , respectfully , disagree. Marilyn had charisma. Kim K does not have any charisma imo. She seems puppet like…controlled by her mother then her husband. I wouldn’t seek her out for interesting conversation at a cocktail party.

    Love the recap!

Every week I disagree with the judges- the blue team put out a terrible collection. It looked messy, dowdy and unfinished. It seems like what the lady in Greek Wedding would wear before she got a makeover. And what was up with Roberi’s skirt? To me, I was with the public- team neutral all the way! i LIVED for Nat’s skirt/pants, they were gorgeous, especially in the shop window. 100% deserved the win.

If dressing like a sleeeezy whore then Kim K and Kylie are both style Icons LOL
but on to Project Runway this season does seem to have more style ideas making it a great season mind you I didn’t start watching til season 10 and then watched what I could on Hulu a long time ago…
Erin (I thought she was awesome) but her and Dex have not been “All That” the last couple of challenges but then Cornelius has not been either
Good for Tim to save Cornelius this round and we all know he did cause the poor guy ran his butt off and did a lot of the work and I agree with your recap Erin and Dex thought they were done Tim liked so they screwed off and they should of helped and broke up that red
My favorite were the blues but that is my favorite color too.. and for once I did agree with Judges sorry but I do not think Kelly O.knows style just the brands but style I do not think she does

Kudos to Tim for using the save. I’m not a Cornelius fan, but he certainly didn’t deserve to go. I’m over Erin and her attitude, but, Cambridge, so she thinks she’s super smaht and wicked awesome (yeah, not so much, it’s Central effing Square, have fun getting mugged). The collection was bad not punk (I was punk when punk was in….in HARVARD Sq BTW)

Loved all 3 blue looks, but Rik’s was the best. I’m ok with Roberi winning tho.

I don’t care one way or the other- but a style icon she is decidedly not. And to be honest I wouldn’t consider Marilyn a style icon a la Audrey Hepburn, Kathryn Hepburn, Greta Garbo…etc. But to each their own!

Erin and Dex think they are so much better than everyone else, so they don’t have to listen to anyone. Tim to the rescue, I’m so glad he used the save on Cornelius! Yeah! This is where I landed too and yelled at Cornelius to explain this but the dumbhead didn’t listen to me. For some reason. 😉 He has been so annoying in previous episodes but I was rooting for him this time and actually cried when he was saved by Tim. Don’t know what got into me. You could just see on everyones face as they internalized that they would not get the Tim save. But it was such bullshit that Dex didn’t take the hit.

I’d fan-girl all OVER Tim Gunn but it felt like his reviews during construction kind of misled the red team to think they were solid.

I loved the slacks that Laurence made. Roberi deserved to win as did anyone on that team.

I am so glad Tim didn’t listen to me earlier in the season, and still had his save. Cornelius is, IMO, the most improved player of the season. He was pretty bitchish early on. His attitude is so much better now that I am inclined to think he was acting from insecurity.

Dex has turned out to be just another mean girl. KK tries WAY too hard and is way too chunky to be a fashion icon. Before y’all get all bent out of shape, I am 5’9″ with 36G boobs and a big ass. Ain’t no way big boobs and ass can be a fashion icon, Ashley Graham (who is BTW, fabulous) or not.

Ugh. I did NOT like the Blue team. I didn’t really like any of them, but Roberi’s skirt was more hideous than MJ’s boring dress. The only think I really liked was Erin’s coat and Rik’s dress. I would have given the win to the neutrals.

I will never understand how Kelly Osborne suddenly became some sort of style expert with absolutely no experience or education in the field. I do like how she always advocates for the person being ganged up on in on a team challenge.

Dexter and Erin were awful. And what the fuck was going on with Erin’s weird makeup? I did not think the red team did too much red. That was the point. To tell someone to do a red challenge and then complain that it was all red, is ridiculous. The reds matched and that is hard to do.

Why has no one reacted to the EYEBROWS on the red team? That was hideous.

I wish the judges would have called out Dex and Erin on the stage. Erin made me hate her even more when she hugged Corny when he was saved. It’s awfully early to have to use a save.

Really glad Tim used the save on Cornelius, if only because I hate Erin and Dex so much. They’re truly nasty bitches and I was happy that Tim got to see what was really going on. As for Kelly’s judging skills, I used to watch her on Fashion Police with Joan Rivers. I too questioned what in the hell she was doing there until I found out that Joan was really good friends with Sharon and Ozzy. I guess putting Kelly on there was a favor, but I was really shocked to see that she knew her fashion and spoke very intelligently about what she saw. When the whole fiasco between Kelly and Giuliana Rancic went viral, I detested Kelly. I thought she blew the whole thing up out of proportion so that she could suit her own needs at the time. Joan had died shortly before, and, to put it mildly, the show was knocked off its feet. Since then, I’ve seen Kelly on a few red carpets, giving her input on whatever was going on, and still despised her. However, time has passed, and I have to admit she knows what she’s talking about. I’m now giving her another chance, like she gives a damn what I think, and looking forward to seeing her again.

I was more surprised the judges didn’t say “where is the violet?” instead of “Too much red” since they were team red/violet. Why Erin got a pass for her look when she only created one piece of it is beyond me. And she was the one behind the horrible skirt in Cornelius’s look.
I couldn’t get past the horrible pants (the ones with knee cutouts) on team neutral; even though the model wasn’t having this issue, when I see pants of that style the wearer always has a camel toe issue. MJ’s dress was too dowdy. The jackets were both fantastic, though.

I kind of cheated by looking at the finished product before watching the show. I could almost pick the teams by looking at the looks.

Team Neutral.. I did not like the collection until it moved down the runway. I like the the coat moved and covered up MahJing dress. His saving grace was to make them pick a contrasting color that was under utilized. Please stop using that horrible banded collar.

Team Red.. Erin is on her way out. She has become boring and irritating. She only deserved the 1st win then her ugly personality took over. Dex fails to deliver too often and I’m predicting he will be out within the next 3 eliminations. Thankfully Cornelius dialed his personality down. He did have a nice jacket by playing with plaid pattern; it didn’t work on his plaid skirt. Tim saving him made me cry.

Team blue.. This is the final 3, another prediction. I want to see a collection from each of them.

I’m happy to see a mature Kelly O considering who her parents are. I hope she continues to have success. Unlike, Kim Kardashian, just go away.

Thanks CJ for the posts on one of my favorite shows.

    Great job again CJ!

Dexter’s face said it all when Tim used his save…he was not happy. I think his performance art background gets in the way of designing clothing women want to wear. All the other designers have shown real growth in wearability of their clothing except for Dex. His need to shock gets him in to trouble IMHO.

Kelly Osborn use to have a clothing collection on HSN but that was a couple of years ago. She was targeting a young British viv for Americans. I’m Looking forward to watching her and Tim on the Junior Project Runway. I wish the show had been around when I was exploring the design world. I think it gives young people tools to handle a very stressful environment.

I really liked all three collections, and would wear pieces from each collection. I loved the blue plaid with black leather skirt. It reminds me of a red plaid and black skirt with a varied length hem that I would wear with black fishnet stockings and Doc Martens… That was a long time ago during my punk days. The blue plaid and black leather skirt is also reminiscent of grunge. When people would wear short skirts or rolled hem denim shorts and tie a plaid shirt around their waist… Ahhh I’m having too many fashion (or maybe fashion victim ) flashbacks. I also loved Erin ‘s red plaid jacket, but I’m sad to see her and Dex be such mean girls, because I really liked them at the beginning. I do think that the judges contradict themselves over and over. They ask for something then they criticize the designs for delivering what they asked for. They asked for red… They got red. Next time they will ask for red or blue or whatever color and when the designers give them additional colors they’ll complain that that’s not what the challenge was about. And so happy Tim saved Cornelius, I just love me some Tim Gunn… Such a true gentleman . CJ Bomb again another great recap… Thank You !

Daisy Fellowes, Jacqueline Onassis, Loulou de la Falaise, Audrey Hepburn…these are fashion icons. Kim K? Not even remotely. She’s not even known for being stylish. She’s known mainly for having a gigantic fat ass that only men of a particular…shall we say…socio-economic strata find attractive. I’d posit that your friend doesn’t understand what a fashion icon is. I mean, buying a bunch of designer labels doesn’t make one stylish. (This is something that quite a few Housewives and ex-Housewives don’t understand either. //cough// Kim Z-B //cough//)

As for Project Runway? Hm. I couldn’t decide between Team Neutral and Team Blue for the win. I agree with the judges about Blue’s accomplishments, but I think I liked the Neutral team’s pieces better. The outfit with the full-legged pants and the “popcorn” sweater was my favorite outfit of them all.

I agreed with the judges about Team Red too…too much monochromatic bright red. It hurt my eyes to look at it all at once! I mean, the challenge’s palette was Red-Violet. I think they’d have done much better using a variety of complementary shades of red and maybe (gasp!) some violet.

I thought that Dexter’s “dress” was the worst of the lot, and was disappointed that they auf’d Cornelius (this week). BUT. I was also disappointed that Tim used his save on him. I think that was SUCH a waste. Cornelius is not one of the stronger designers and it was inevitable that he’d be auf’d soon anyway. Sigh.

Eric, What did you think of Tim saying “there were two mean girls” on team Red? I found it rather beneath him to refer to Dex as a girl in his capacity. I adore Tim Gunn. And I know lots of guys who refer to other gay guys as girls. I don’t have a problem with women doing it either or maybe by women I mean me amongst a certain group of gay men. But in this instance, it felt odd to me.

I thought the judges should have saved Cornelius. Clearly Dexter seemed to think he was going. I actually like his look. The only real problem for me with team read was that damn pleated skirt. I think the two mean girls let Dex do all the grunt work so that they could always point the finger at him. I hate Erin. I could learn to appreciate Dex again. But my personal opinion doesn’t overshadow the fact that Erin can SEW and and maked fabulous designs.

As a gay man, I wasn’t the least bit offended by Tim referring to Dexter as a mean girl. It was more about the ‘mean girl’ behavior rather than a gay slur. It seemed truthful not vicious.

And let’s be honest here, Dexter isn’t the most masculine man in the world, lol. It seems like everyone is afraid to state the obvious for fear that they may offend someone.

I get what you’re saying, but “mean girls” is a thing. I feel like Tim would have said that about any guy paired with Erin, regardless of sexuality.

I don’t hate Dex or Erin. I DO think they bring out the most obnoxious traits in each other. I also think Mean Girls has been a part of the general vernacular since the movie to describe anyone who is being an ass.

It didn’t sit right with me either Tamara, simply because it came out of Tim’s mouth, and Tim is nothing if not a brilliant communicator who articulates his message beautifully. It was the obvious snark I didn’t expect. I think his anger got the better of him. It was a dime a dozen comment and Tim is solid gold.

I don’t know about it being offensive, that is why I asked you. 🙂 I do know that there is a lot of hysterical about using proper pronouns these days and I immediately wondered if he would get backlash for that.

I don’t allow comments here that refer to Andy Cohen as “Miss Andy” as he identifies as male and it is being said in a derogatory way. I was just curious, and prepared for some drama toward Tim Gunn. It just jolted me a bit coming from him. It also let me know that the treatment of Cornelius was probably much worse than what we saw.

        TT,

I was doing 5 other things while I was watching this the other day, so although I did raise an eyebrow at the moment, I didn’t give it much thought.

Thinking about it now, I tend to agree with the others: “Mean Girls” and being “Mean Girled” is a thing, and I think that Tim just meant it that way, not as a commentary on Dexter’s masculinity. Besides, Tim is much too dignified to lower himself to “Guuurl, you is a mess” type slang.

What DID bother me more was that I thought Tim wasted his save on Cornelius. As I said before, I think he was bound to be auf’d soon anyway, and lets not forget that Cornelius has had a nasty attitude and was always quick to shit-talk everyone from the get-go. I think he can give as good as he gets, but probably the 2-against-1 power dynamic he experienced made Tim feel bad (enough) for him.

I was no great fan of Alex (he had a know-it-all-ish air of superiority that rubbed me the wrong way) but I’d been half expecting to see him resurrected, and to me, that would have made more sense.

When Cornelius said Dexter and Erin were sitting around, Dexter gave him the most evil glare (as did Erin when Tim saved him before she got her shit together and tried to hug him). It makes me positively gleeful to think of Dex watching this episode back and seeing him do exactly what Cornelius described.

    Dexter
I think Erin is incredibly talented but I don’t like her. Winners don’t always get the hero edit on Project Runway however, (Jeffrey Sebelia, Irina Shabayeva).

Off topic – my fucking spell check keeps trying to change ‘Dexter’ to ‘thunk’. Should we really be letting robots perform surgeries?

Laurence for the win! She has such a sophisticated sense of style, a finely-tuned point of view and refined construction skills. Her attention to detail is phenomenal! AND yet she is so humble and quiet.

Her only (minor) drawback is also her best feature. She has such a well-defined style. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of surprises. Every week, it’s obvious to the judges which outfit is hers. I can see her going on to massive success as long as she continues to evolve.

Agree. I can’t wait to see her collection! I feel like she has the maturity and the know-how to actually produce a well designed interchangeable “collection”; not a bunch of random outfits that have nothing to do with each other.

Thank you for the recap! I thought the neutral was shockingly blah, and suspect that they would have been the bottom team if it wasn’t for the street vote.

Having to choose someone from the red team seemed to come down to, as Nina said, “Who do we want to see more of?” They’ve been more enthusiastic of Dexter and Erin in the past.

The judges probably knew that Tim was going the TGS to deal with the inequity of the Soho vote, so they figured “What the hell? Cornelius for the drama.”

It always amazes me how these designers can come up with a concept, sketch it, pick the fabrics, create, recreate, fit, and bang it all out in one day. The neutrals and blues were incredible, the judges got it right this week. For me, the reds resembled Dante’s inferno, literally and figuratively. Are we going to see a boxy, albeit gorgeous, coat from Erin EVERY week? She’s starting to bore me. I was glad Tim came in with the save. Cornelius didn’t deserve to go home after being teamed up with those two.

Is Kim K a fashion icon? Are come f**k me clothes a category, outside the Frederick’s of Hollywood world? To me, Marilyn Monroe nailed the sex kitten image. Kim K just looks like she wants to get nailed.

I think that Kim K does not dress in anyway I would want to dress or see my daughters dressed like. That does not take away from the fact that she could be considered an icon. I didn’t want to seem crazy so I looked up icons in style and all the predictable people were there but also was included Kourney Love for the grunge movement and Madonna for her cone bra’s. those also nobody I would dress like. The thing about Kim is many people bash her about a sex tape made when she was younger (I’m not suggesting it a good idea at all). But because it came it she smartly used it as a platform to launch a hugely successful career. She is not cruel to people as I’ve seen so why don’t people stop bashing her. Many very prominent women in Hollywood including some of the style icons listed here have posed for playboy and been in movies considered edgy for their time. I feel like if everywhere you go and everything you do is photographed because who you are and what your wearing then like it or not that person is somewhat a style icon. And for those who said a woman with big butt and boobs can’t fit that mold that’s crap. That girl is beautiful and proud of her body and that’s why so many women feel like they can’t be proud of their curves is because of comments like that. Why can you not be considered stylish because of the size of your butt. Are you forgetting people like Anna Nicole Smith and even Marlyn one of my personal favs actually had a voluptuous bodies.

But some of Kim K’s curves aren’t real. Old Kim was perfect and gorgeous head to toe. New Kim looks ridiculous below the waist. It’s a joke, a cartoon. It has nothing to do with her size, just the absurdity of how her (& khloe) have enhanced their rears in an unnatural looking way.

Red was definitely the worst of the bunch. If you can Auf someone for being a jerk, then Erin or Dexter should have gone. Otherwise, Cornelius skirt was the worst made, much like his look the previous week. I think Tim’s sense of fair play got in the way of his judgement. Cornelius designs are meh and his execution is weak, regardless of how poorly he was treated.

I agree, I had second thoughts about Erin’s integrity after this episode, and had to wonder if Nathalie’s frequent cattiness towards Erin had a reasonable basis, after all. These reality shows are edited from raw footage and at times are constructed to create a more dramatic storyline, so I don’t know how accurate it was that Cornelius was left to do “all the work” while the other two were depicted snacking, laughing, and overall just slacking off and not offering any help to Cornelius at all, especially after they all hugged and Cornelius agreed to let Erin have his plaid skirt.

If the depiction was 100% accurate, then Erin and Dexter’s behavior was definitely heinous. Not to mention their rationale for saying Cornelius needed to be eliminated: Erin basically said it was because she and Dexter worked better together, and Dexter said Cornelius didn’t have the same design aesthetic as him and Erin. It was a surprise, too, when it was apparent that the judges were having a hard time deciding who to eliminate, and Nina offered, “It comes down to who do we want to see more of,” during the judging. I thought that was unfair, since overall styling (which was disastrous) was orchestrated by Dexter.

Well Im still liking this Season way more than recent years, not sure why tho’, lol. Maybe its the great recaps? 🙂
Despite my ravenous “reality” tv appetite that I think began with The Anna Nicole Show, I’ve never watched or g ollowed anything to do with the Kardashians
My distaste for them runs back to their late father and his OJ involvement.
I’m glad the Tim Gunn save thing is gone, not a fan of that whole thing.
