Happy Halloween!

Who is dressing up? Who is taking kids out trick or treating? Who is going to a party? Who already ate all the candy?

And who is like me and planning to keep the curtains closed, the lights off and the TV quiet while keeping low in case of flying bullets?

God, I hate Halloween night.

Happy Halloween all y’all !!! My favorite holiday on par with Christmas ! I’ve already dug into the candy…I’m a stress/emotional eater and I’m three days out from surgery and I’m panicking. A lot. Therefore, mass quantities of just about everything I can get my hands on is being consumed. I’m a total wreck and just want it over with already.

Kids are all grown up and they don’t trick or treat anymore, so I’m watching paranormal/ghost shows all day and nite tonight. I love them !

Have a safe, happy, and fun Halloween everybody !!!

Last year was not bad, Adele. The biggest thing has always been people knocking on the door and Banjo going nuts. There are not many people still trick or treating in the hood. There will likely be “celebratory gunfire.” I’ll be fine and recapping and tweeting.

My grandkids went to “Trunk or Treat”. It was held at the municpal park in my daughter’s township. Instead of going door to door, the families go up to the municpal park with their candy and park in the field. The kids treat or treat from car to car. They love it. We still have the traditional Halloween night too but this is another safe option for them. Happy Halloween! (belated, always belated lol)

    I LOVE Halloween!

I deliberately held back on groceries last week so I could celebrate today.

    Cat…party of ONE!

I am spending the entire day watching old horror movies, eating pizza, and drinking limeade.

No candy. Maybe tomorrow, when I go grocery shopping, and candy is on sale.

Have a spooky, but safe night!

      Some Cat trivia:

Today would have been my 34th wedding anniversary. Yes, we were married on Halloween. In full costume and makeup. So was the wedding party. And the minister.

No relatives or other friends were invited. We were married at home, because no church in town would accept us.We were forevermore labeled as Satanists in the neighborhood. Eventually, we had to move out of town.

Married by Jack o’ lantern light…33 of them.

Instead of the wedding march, we played Bach’s Tocatta and Fugue in D Minor. (See “Phantom of the Opera”. It’s what the Phantom plays on the organ down in the sewer tunnels.)

We had a simple ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins. Chocolate chip ice cream, chocolate cake frosted with French vanilla ice cream and decorated with hot fudge. There was a black cat on the cake, of course!

A radio controlled R2D2 was my ring bearer. My flowers had lights.

Our reception allowed friends to come over. No gifts. But they had to be in costume. We turned away a lot of friends that night for this. Some never forgave us. Oh well.

Our entire wedding and reception cost $200.

      What a great party!

It’s sad that I don’t get trick or treaters. It’s the one night where I actually tolerate children. But I live in a secure building.

I do keep looking for a creepy clown on my balcony, though. It’s low enough, someone could climb up.

I have always dreamed of a Halloween wedding. Yours sounds like it was awesome. I would do a witch wedding dress and Chinese food for the reception.

If you tried to turn me away I would pull a Wednesday Adams and say “I’m a homicidal maniac. They look just like everybody else.”

No wedding dress. I did not want anything traditional. I wasn’t going to have flowers, but my maid of honor insisted, and bought them. We wired them with lights.

We were both aliens, from different planets. I was dressed in blue pants and shirt, with a silver space-alien-like vest. Blue make up and hair. He was dressed in black and silver, and had silver and black make up.

The best man came as Robin Hood. He controlled the R2D2 in presenting the ring. My maid of honor was Maid Marian. Our photographer was a werewolf, and his girlfriend came as a member of KISS.

The minister came as a biker, with long wig and headband. Boots, and dressed in denim and chains. This was hilarious, because he normally was quite reserved, was bald, and always wore 3 piece brown suits.

@I.just: So sorry Halloween is a sad day for you.

After we got divorced, it was a sad day for me, too. I didn’t celebrate the day for a few years. But then, I realized it is a day to celebrate the dead, and reuniting with spirits of loved ones.

The day is about celebrating death as much as celebrating life. Life in this world, and the next. Because true Love never dies.

I plan on having a Day of the Dead feast tomorrow. 🙂

I love Halloween. Back when my kids were young, I would decorate the house and yard with ghosts, graves with tombstones, witches in the trees, spider webs and a big cauldron of witch’s brew. Loved every minute and always dressed up. We lived in the historic district so every kid in town would be dropped off in our neighborhood to trick or treat. We’d sometimes have 200 kids. I would finally cut my lights off by 10:00 p.m. I also hand painted pumpkins and added hair, hats and other things making them into witches, scarecrows, little girls and boys, Frankenstein, and several other things. Would sell them from my front porch for about a month before Halloween. The last year we did it we made $3,000. Hey I needed to pay for candy for 200 trick or treaters lol. Now where we live in the country we don’t get any. I miss Halloween.

My days of trick or treating are now long over. I used to particularly dislike it when the doorbell rang and my two mini pins would go crazy, so I had to sit outside my door with my basket of goodies for close to three hours.

Now, I choose to shut the lights and pretend that no one is home.

I had two sons who were both into horror movies like Freddy Krueger and Friday the 13th. I actually saw all of them and their sequels. Oh, almost forgot Chuckie, the evil doll. None of them seem all that scary today, but back in the day, I was scared as hell watching them.

Does anyone remember the orange milk carton from UNICEF. All the kids in my elementary class got one and we were expected to return then full to our teachers.

Happy Halloween to all who still enjoy. Hope it’s SPOOKtacular!!!

I like Halloween & giving out candy. Where I used to live was starter homes which meant plenty of young kids – so cute. Now where I live there are some kids but not tons. Last year I had 3 kids. Mainly now they dress for school event rather than going to homes which in the ghetto not so safe anyway. One told me he wasn’t allowed to go due freaky clown stories going around. We already had the gun shots earlier today so no waiting for my hood! So likely will get to watch all the scary movies I love w/o interruptions. Plus just got Bryan Cranston book today!! Love him & book is very good so far. ?

I bought candy, but one of my kitties has taken to trying to escape out the front door every time it opens and I didn’t want to fight with him this evening (or lock him up). I put out the candy on the porch with a sign for trick-or-treaters to help themselves. Hopefully by next year the kitties will be grown up and well-behaved enough that we can answer the door and see the kids. I’m not that into Halloween, but do enjoy seeing the little ones in their costumes.

Happy Halloween!! I’ve got an 8 year old with autism so it’s always tricky. We went to a “safe space” and to be honest it was sooooo boring. We live so deep in the country that I’ve never had a single trick or treater in 20 years. Boo for fun but yeah for me shoving leftover Milky Way darks in my mouth while pouring coffee in the am. I usually decorate and love Halloween but did not because now that I live in the woods there are all the flipping bugs and webs and creepy shit why add to it. I miss the pulse of city living but I won’t need to worry about mischief night so there’s that.

I used to decorate in a major way – even collected Department 56 Halloween village. Had the family with kids come over for trick or treating – usually had something warm like chili or soup, along with sandwich fixings, etc. Something that could be eaten before or after, that would keep.

But the kids grew up, and my neighbors changed – no one answered their doors or decorated and soon I was the only one on my block. Went from getting over 100 trick or treaters to about 20. So now I head over to my besties – although her kids are growing up too. I take over my witch finger bread sticks (green food coloring egg wash, and whole almond finger nails. Dyed them red this year – turned out perfect!)

I’m a Grinch about most things, but I give in on Halloween. Also live in suburbia, but the number of kids coming by is dwindling every year. I live in the South, and we have a lot of hypocrites here that like to call it “fall festival” and pretend Halloween is evil. When did this bullshit start? I sort of feel bad for kids that have to “trunk or treat.” I guess it’s just a different world now. I still have about half a bag of Kit Kats left, so that’s a bonus.

I remember reading a former blogger some ago that got married at Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta. I don’t remember if it was actually on Halloween, but I do think it’s about the coolest wedding I’ve ever seen.
