This is how I feel right now.
This is how I feel right now.

I thought we could use a lighter Daily Tea this weekend.  I don’t have a whole lot to say, I have been up all night the past few nights watching live feeds of Big Brother or TV.  I thought I would give a quick rundown of some summer shows I am watching. Please remember not to spoil any TV shows in the comments

Shows I watch when I can’t really focus on watching.

Sometimes I just want something on in the background that if I miss a few minutes, I still know what is going on. At this minute  it is  Dating Naked. (VH1) It is just as ridiculous as it sounds. Sometime you need ridiculous. I am still watching The Challenge Rivals III (MTV) but I have no idea why. Sometimes I need shows to have on the DVR when I am recording two things and don’t have time to focus on either one.  Mistresses on ABC used to be in the category, but it’s been sucking lately and I it comes airs on Tuesdays when I am super busy.

The Haves and Have Nots
The Haves and Have Nots

Shows that I’m watching this summer on the weekends when I can pay attention

Naked and Afraid (Discovery)  New season starts tomorrow night at 10. It’s the XL version where they have teams of four at four different camps for 30? 40? days.  They are in South Africa.  Unreal (Lifetime) love this show! The Haves and Have Nots (OWN) It’s Tyler Perry so it’s kind of… well theatrical but I got hooked on it. Tyrant is back on FX, I have the first episode of the new season waiting for me to have the mental capacity to focus on it. If you like stuff set in the middle east, it’s really good and you should find a way to start with the very first episode and binge this.  I am really behind on Orphan Black (BBCAM) has gotten a bit to deep and detailed for me. I have to be in the right mood for that.

There is more, but I really need to get a post up today.

So we can chat more in comments. What are you watching this summer?

Ooooohhh… I’ve been wanting to watch Tyrant. Is it good?

I just started The Blacklist on Netflix. I like it a lot. I also have Animal Kingdom on the DVR. I need to get to that.

Currently, I’m watching the final season of Bitten for a website I write DVD and bluray reviews cor. After that, I’ve got a few other movies to watch, including Room. I am looking forward to that one, even though it’s super depressiNguyen. I’m sure I will cry.

On the DVR, I’ve also got Cake Wars, Cutthroat Kitchen, and Next Food Network Star. Plus a few movies I recorded off HBO.

On the non TV side, the new neighbors are having a BBQ and there are cars lined up and down the whole street. They also have a pool. Damn them. Lol!

I had friends over today and we worked on our scrapbooks. I’ve been up since 630 and was cleaning, setting up and baking. I made yellow cake cupcakes with chocolate buttercream and chocolate chip scones. Sooooooo good.

Tomorrow is church and more movies for the website.

ROOM, I’ve read the book and saw the movie, both good but no tears. I do not like the ending but others do.

      iRobot marathon season 1 today,
Loved it but missed a lot of it.

ROOM got me. I went so far as picking up the book (before the movie) but the concept of the story through a child’s eyes was a little much for me.
Ended up watching the movie, had bad dreams for days. That one got me. It was striking.

I used to recap The Blacklist but I don’t have time anymore and I can’t tape the show anymore because of scheduling conflicts.

You should probably only read episodes you’ve watched, Because you don’t want to be spoiled,

Our zoo opened a “Penguinarim” that is AWESOME! I will have to check out the Haves and Have Nots-you peaked my interest! 😉

We travel every few months and bring the Roku everywhere- I know it’s lame but I have a bum knee and can only walk so many hours -I love to watch movies & a few shows in the early morning and at night when we get home. After we unpack I get my son to hook it up to the TV. in the condo or hotel where we’re staying. I’m binge watching, “Orange is the New Black” in Japan now. Next is, “Animal Kingdom”

I need to start watching TCM again. It’s the only thing on TV that doesn’t make me wretch. ?

I’ve never been much of a TV watcher. The TV has become pretty much a living relic in my house. I just put it on for background noise while I’m doing something else, like cleaning and paperwork, and I’m usually not paying any attention to the show. Usually the Weather Channel.

I like old shows: Twilight Zone, Columbo, Murder She Wrote, Alfred Hitchcock. Or animated stuff like South Park and King of the Hill.

I love TCM! I like Robert Osbourne- I love hearing stories about the stars and behind the scenes info on the making of the films. I’m over the moon that my 12 year old son loves films (my passion) and really likes the old one’s from the 1920’s & 1930’s – “Metropolis” and “M” are recent favorites.

And if it weren’t for TCM and Osbourne I wouldn’t have ever seen them. They also showed some really “out there” David Lynch films from the 70s on Halloween night.

Hi All. I am plowing through the Inspector Morse and Lewis series. The newest one, Endeavor is on Masterpiece Mysteries on Sunday night. I have a major crush on Detective Inspector Robby Lewis. The three series take place in Oxford England. Inspector Morse began in 1987 and ended in 2000. Inspector Lewis began in 2006 and I believe this is its last season. Endeavor began this year, I believe, though the time of the drama is in the 60s. I love dark British crime dramas and British dramatic comedy series.

The murder in the orient express is fantastic but you can’t watch that one first. You have to watch the other episodes to see why that espisode is so challenging to his character.

New tricks is another English crime show you may like. The characters are complex there as well. My life on Mars (the English version) is also great.

Never sank to the level of Honey BooBoo, or the show about all the drunk Southern kids. One show I like which surprised me is Greenleaf, on the Oprah Winfrey channel. The show is so juicy and the dialogue & subject matter is so scandalous & ratchet that I would have never expected to see it on Oprah’s feel good network. It’s clear that Oprah LOVES Tyler Perry to give him free reign to go there with the storylines/characters. I live for some crazy ass Veronica & hooker Candice.

I’ve changed my viewing habits away from most “dark” shows, my favorite shows, but I’m going for a happy face. Just shoot me!

If nothing is on that I like, I always have epidsodes of Matlock and the westerns are on the INSP channel or TNT, Law and Order marathons, CSI Miami, CSI NY, Justice Central is always good too.

I just saw a good movie called NonStop with Liam Neeson. It was riveting!
Oh I am getting tomatoes off my plant. They are small but good. Maybe next year I will actually get some real tomatoes, they say 3rd times a charm 🙂

Dee, this is the worst year EVER for me and tomato plants. I have some kind of fungus in the ground where I plant that they say take six years to die. I have been obsessed with fixing the dirt because I have poor alternatives for planting. I just watered the cheat plant it was one of those Home Depot plants that comment in a big pot for like $12 or something. I think I bought a bush Goliath. I always have a cheat plant as a back up because of my soil and my desire to plant mostly herilooms who are harder to grow. Always have a backup if you want to ensure tomatoes. The cheater plant is doing very well giving me a real tomato ever 2-3 days but it has caught the same issue.

Courtesy of everyone’s watch lists, I have just overloaded my dvr. I keep the TV on a lot for noise but don’t watch much other than a handful of shows. Now I am going to have tons to watch

I’ve mostly been watching old reasons of real housewives on Hulu that I missed when I didn’t have cable for a few years.

Other than that my neighbor cop contested his order and in his response requested a judge and the case was assigned to that judge for the gearung, not the judge who granted it in the first place! People are urging me to call the news, but I’m not sure if that would be of any help. All I want is for him to stay away and leave everyone alone ffs.

I somehow got addicted The Haves and the Have nots. It is extremely over the top but I can’t turn away. Greenleaf is better written and really good too. I tried watching Unreal. I didn’t watch 1st season, will I be behind?

Devious Maids, Mistresses and a bunch of other random things round out my week. I just started working from home so I sometimes tape and watch or have it on for my background noise during the day

I’m sorry to hear about your tomato plant, TT. Mine has also succumbed to a fungus and the summer heat. This was my first attempt at growing a tomato and I’ll admit it was a failure. I hope to have better luck with a fall planting. The great thing about gardening is that we can always try again.

I also always ask myself why I watch the Challenge show yet still do. Dislike the newer casting from whatever that love show is. Perphaps it’s to see if Bananas will ever lose and be properly called out.
Orphan Black is amazing and you will not regret catching up. But it does get complicated so I understand needing to be ready.

I am excited for Mr Robot to start. This second season will be the decider for me if I’m in or out with it. The acting is pnenomenal and I just hope the storyline can keep up. It sorta reminds me of Ray Donovan which is another show that lost me as the seasons went on.

Anyone watching Peaky Blinders on netflix or Outlander? The time period escape is refreshing, especially after how disturbed I was with reality tv recently (translation:southern charm)
Tried to get into teenage newlyweds, that was discouraging.
My guilty pleasures, the little women franchise, is coming back. It’s a trainwreck but I can’t help but watch.
TT- I know you recap teen mom, I know MTV was planning of doing a 16&pregnant series in the teen mom format. Any idea what happened to that?

It was difficult for me to get into “Tyrant”. It’s a hard watch, yet riveting and good, but hard. I felt the same way about that border show, “The Bridge”. It was soooo grim.

Presently I am watching “Angie Tribeca” on TBS. It’s the kind of spoof, hilarity I need while waiting on “The Blacklist”, “Blindspot”, “Elementary”, etc. to return in new seasons.

I loved “The Bridge”. It wasn’t a show that a person could multitask while watching.

One of my favorites isn’t on right now…”Madam Secretary”. I am amazed how current/relevant it is. Especially considering that it must be taped several weeks ahead.

I’m really enjoying Wayward Pines. It was supposed to be a one season show but they made a season two which goes in a different direction and is really good.

The premise is a FBI agent is sent on a search for a missing FBI agent. On his way he gets into a car accident and wakes up in the forest. He stumbles into a small town where everyone is being monitored and no one is allowed to talk about the past. He tries to leave but the main road is one endless loop. He starts to try to figure out what is happening and it is good and mysterious.

If you do watch definitely start at season one or else you miss the thrill.

Checking in…from the library. I had to take an online census. Damn, even the government is all up in my business these days.

I don’t have cable, so I can’t watch most of what everyone else watches. And I don’t have a channel listing, so I tend to just surf until I find something I like.

My biggest escape are the old shows: Gilligan’s Island, and shows like that, are favorites. Quantum Leap. Then there are the crime shows, like Law and Order, Criminal Minds, and Bones. I also like true crime, like Forensic Files. If I can, I will catch an old movie. Sunday mornings, I have become hooked on the old Sherlock Holmes movies. And I will usually always watch a musical. I refuse to watch anything Disney or Disney related.

I also watch Zoo, although I am beginning to become bored with the plot. Brain Dead is a new favorite.

The only things I miss on cable are American Horror Story, The Walking Dead, and Shark Week (I love the Sharknado movies!) I get reruns of The Walking Dead, but am about a season behind. I did watch some on Netflix, but even that isn’t current, so I stopped paying for it.

I just like tv in general.

As for real life, yesterday, I woke up to Jesse snuggling next to me. And later, Calli climbed up into my lap. We are making progress.

Well, I know it’s been quiet over here and I would be best off to wait for the new daily tea post- but I had to get this out. No one seems to be as stuck as me (in my real life.)
I work in a specialized section of racing. Since yesterday, I’ve received two blows to our racing community. Two guys paralyzed in a week and a half. One 16 (waist down) one 25 (neck down).
I am heartbroken, so affected I want to curl up and cry. As a mother, as a friend, as a stranger. No amount of money I can donate will amount for the empathy I feel. The world is cruel.
Also, I realize it is a risk. But much like other tragedies in life, you never expect it to be you. Your friend. Your son. Your daughter. Christ, it hurts.
