The Oscars 2016: What Will They Wear? Who Will Win?

Oscars Chris Rock

With no Bravo shows or Downton Abby tonight, I guess we all have time to watch The Oscars!  Or curl up with a good movie. What will you do? I was thinking about dashing out for a quick haircut, but I have this crazy sickness thing happening. I feel fine, then I don’t, then I’m fine again.  Despite planning on going after the Dance Moms Recap,  I’m back to the yucky feeling stage so I may just curl up with some ice cream I bought when I first came down with this wishy washy illness. It’s at least a good reason for ice cream.

I am interested in seeing Chris Rock’s opening. With all the drama concerning the lack of black nominees (only one and that was The Weeknd for a musical award) and some people boycotting and others trying to get Chris Rock to give up his gig, it should be very interesting for a change.
oscars

The carpet is already crowded. Due to photo restrictions, I probably won’t update with many pictures. I really might go to bed early tonight. It’s very rare that I have a Sunday night off!

I’m hoping Eric and the other interns will keep us up to date on what is going on in comments.  Feel please jump in and share your thoughts. I just spied a beautiful chartreuse dress on someone with a big high bun in the background. I wonder who that was!

Are you watching? What are your plans for the night?

Ok, what the F is that red dress some co-host is wearing? Why? Why? Why?

She’s sitting next to Kris Jenner as they critique dresses. Her top has a giant upside down heart shape and her humongous boobs have these red straps encircling them as they are pouring out.

I thought she was kim Kardashian at first with that outfit.

I am watching the E! Live From the Red Carpet and Guiliana mentioned that Ryan Seacrest had given her a gift because they’ve been working together for 10 years and she pulls this huge locket out from her dress and there is a big pic of Ryan’s face in the locket. I thought it was his real gift to her but then he presented her with her real gift. It was a gold necklace with her sons name spelled out in script.

Here comes Chris Rock – gotta go.

What I said was, I love Chris Rock going in on Jada Smith. ” Jada Smith boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rhianna’s panties! We weren’t invited!”

Then he called the Academy racist. It was really good! All the white folks were unsure whether to laugh or not.

Chris was an equal opportunity caller outer. He rightly slammed the academy and he rightly slammed all the people who get their knickers in a twist over small things.

Sorry – going to agree to disagree with you regarding dear Leonard Nimoy. Star Trek has gone WAY beyond a simple TV show at this point. Star Trek inspired many a sci-fi movie maker (not to mention real astronauts!).

He was a director as well as an actor in movies and someone inspiring to multiple generations. (Actually, to those under the age of 40, he’s a movie person, not TV. ))

Do I love Maureen O’Hara? Yes… but honestly, do I expect her to be as well known among multiple generations as much as Nimoy? No. I get that I’m an old movie buffoften alone in my love and knowledge of wonderful artist like her.

I can’t even comment legibly tonight.
      ” most” of the “Oscars” & “I” not U.
Must have been the disappointment about the porn.

I read this year Oscar voters were told to vote their top 3 choice’s by number. Oscars only counted the #1 vote, #2 & #3 were not looked at. (why ask for them?)
#2 could had the most votes, I may not be explaining it right. The way ppl were told to vote was messed up.

I’m shocked at the winner of Best Movie. I wasn’t expecting that.

Me too.. but Spotlight was a story that needed to be told. I got into the biggest argument with a Catholic man in a bar the other day regarding this movie. I liked it. Him, not so much.

I agree that it needed to be told. I’m Catholic and went to Catholic school and that stuff went on and it was swept under the rug.

I thought Spotlight was absolutely respectful of devout Catholics. The system that protected the predators? Not so much. It also is just an example of how people/cultures/communities can put their head in the sand. It wasn’t all that long ago that domestic violence was just considered “between the two of them” and something that others shouldn’t be involved in – including the police and the criminal justice system. Remember, it used to be “impossible” for a husband to rape his wife. In some communities – that is still the case.

Anyway – that is part of the conversation that my friend and I had after watching Spotlight last Tuesday.

I was absolutely surprised it won though – thought it would be between The Revenant and The Martian.

You don’t know when to use gone and when went is the correct choice? And you were a teacher? Jesus Christ!

I put your window licking comment through because I find your attempts to correct people’s grammar hysterical. You should try to use situations that actually occur on the posts you are correcting though. There are tons of options for grammar Nazis here. But you don’t seem capable of finding any of them.

She can have a field day with me alone. I shall even help her out. I don’t know when to use then or than.

That’s not counting all of my typos.

        Correct away.

Yo Susie, you would be in bad grammar hell reading my comments if you dropped in more often.
I’ve read a few of my older comments and wonder when I lost it. I decided to stop worrying and not give a rats ass.
Guessing TT wince’s at times but likes us in spite of our bad grammar. It is a friendship place. Try it sometime.

I didn’t watch the show last night but am catching up on fashion fails online. Holy shit, what a disaster Heidi Klum was wearing. Like THE WORST BRIDESMAIDS DRESS EVER!

This was a fun way to watch the Oscars. I liked reading everyone’s comments as the night went along.

There might have been a bottle of wine as well on my end.

TT, I have a comment in moderation, please feel free to delete it as it’s slightly repetitive.

I thought Chris was funny and did very well. I was in and out so I didn’t catch all the wins and fashions.

    #OscarsSoLame

I thought this was awful. It felt like I was being lectured from the pulpit.
I am a pretty big awards show fan, but this was the worst I have ever seen. It was like a never ending PSA.

I agree, Pip. It’s the last Oscars I’ll be watching. I think we should get rid of the whole ridiculous thing.

I was really surprised that Yolanda Hadid Foster Hadid didn’t win for best performance, best make-up, best original script, and best wardrobe on social media touting an invisible disease. What? Those aren’t categories? Guess we’ll have to wait for the movie.
