Anderson Cooper Cancels Tomorrow Night’s AC Squared Tour Date Due to Terrorist Attack in Paris

November 13, 2015 by tamaratattles 49 Comments

eiffel Tower

If you live in Columbus Ohio, you will NOT be seeing AC Squared tomorrow night because Anderson Cooper has jetted off to Paris to cover the latest terrorist attack there.  More than 150 people have been killed in multiple terrorist attacks across the city.

It was the last stop on their tour before  a holiday break. The tour will resume in January and presumably the show will be rescheduled.

In other news, I’ve also been a bit taken away by this and there not posting new content. I have a deep love affair with both Paris and Charleston, SC and it has been a very bad year for both of them.

When you are an “old maid” times like this are hard. If you are fortunate enough to have someone you love with you tonight, hold theme extra tight for me.

My heart is broken at this horrific act of terrorism that occurred in Paris killing and injuring so many innocent people. In my mind the Angels were busy wrapping their arms around the souls of the ones who perished last night. It doesn’t make sense and never will to me of man’s inhumanity to man. I knew none of those that were lost yet I cry for them as if they were my best friend or my family because but by the grace of God there go I. This has got to be stopped somehow.

TT, consider us your family. Sending hugs your way. I too adore France and long for a peaceful world.

How we found out about the tragedy was bizarre. We had friends over for dinner in the North Georgia mountains and were totally disconnected from the outside world. After they left I checked my emails and first on the list was a notice from our condo manager in Atlanta advising us that the adjacent Colony Square, a major mixed use office-hotel-condo complex in the heart of Midtown Atlanta was in lockdown mode with barricades going up and access only via intercoms. What?

I believe Colony Square is now owned by Cushman Wakefield. Are any other similar complexes or venues doing the same in the U.S.? There was no word of this in today’s Atlanta paper.

When I was a 19 year old impressionable international relations major, my professor told us this type of terrorism was to be the “norm” in 20+/- years. I still have the same angst and fear that I did at that time. My prejudices and protectionism come out. I say close the borders, do not allow freedom of “religion” and profile. Lock them up like the camps we had after Pearl Harbor. This is in spite of the fact that my Persian friends among others, are some of my closest. It is a war we can’t win by bombing fractured countries. Look at the past 20 years. I say protect our own in times like these. France has had issues with disgruntled , angry Muslims. It won’t stop. I will pray. Again. Humanity cannot separate their blind belief in religion, versus prayer.
God help us all. And, God bless.

Each country that is accepting the thousands of middle eastern refugees will be experiencing this type of violence in some form.
There is no way of vetting so many refugees.
The solution is difficult but there is a solution.

Close the borders, give aid, medicene and food. Stop bombing their country so they have a home to go to.

If they want freedoms or change then have them ask and we will help. Not “our” boots on the ground.
All citizens need to fight for their own freedom or they will not cherish it.
If they won’t stay home and fight why should we fight or take them in?
We have witnessed this many times and it never changes.
We no longer stand up for ourselves first.

How do we ‘protect our own’? Who exactly are they and who is in the position of defining that?

Being a middle eastern refugee is not synonymous with being a radical. Majority of these vile attackers seems more likely to be French born / national or E European born and radicalized.

The refugees are being gassed and beheaded and raped for being of a certain tribe or religion. If I’m being gassed or beheaded or raped and have children to protect or don’t have the physical wherewithal to fight back, I am coming to your border. On a few ships. For Thanksgiving.

Build camps? We still haven’t cleared our collective conscience from Japanese interment, much less Native American reservations or slavery.

I understand the knee-jerk reaction. But we’re better than this. We have to be. Or evil wins.

spk, I never said “all” Middle East refugees are terrorist, most are families in need. Stupid remark.
I did not have a knee jerk reaction!

True they are being killed in horrific ways and they need asylum.
We (USA) and the other countries are going to give homes to thousands, it is what we are and do as a Nation.

I said, “there was no way to vet that many people so a few terrorist will get through”.
There will be a few that hate us and will try to act on that hate.
We accept that as a risk.

I agree many terrorist are second generation, from the USA and European countries. (Jihad John)
So in 20 years do we have a new generation of Jihadist?
        It’s a risk we accept.

I said there is a solution
        that we will NOT do.

spk, go back read my comment again.
I never said build camps. I never said anything derogatory against anyone. Several times I mentioned giving assistance.

A few of the public faces of Isis are foreigners but the majority are from the middle east. They are killing their own people.

The Middle East is responsible for much of modern civilization yet is in constant turmoil. Outside intervention can not fix what is wrong, it has to come from within.
        That is what I said.

Taking hundreds of thousands refugees into so many countries will solve the immediate problem but not long term.

calipatti – seriously, what I said was way less than inflammatory and only written after having carefully read what KKBella said and then your comments. If you read KK closely, some of what I was said was specifically in response to her. (I assume her)

What I said was in no way stupid and I think you know that. I want a country & world that is safe. You can back the truck up and reread what I’ve said and realize it came from a place of wanting nothing but the best for all of us. If you truly have an issue with that… what can be done?

@Carlyle gray, It was the English who started the first concentration camps during the Boer war. My country, the USA, is not a nation of war starters nor do we all keep guns in our homes. When disaster strikes anywhere in the world, the US is there with aid. We gave 13 billion to western Europe after WW II. Remember the Marshall plan.?
It was Anglo colonialism in the middle east. India, Anglo French take over of Egypt, carving up the Ottoman empire. Exploiting Iraq for oil after WWII. I could go on.
This is a time of tragedy for the whole world. You may, of course, keep blaming the US for the current problems. It was also the the the September Dossier published by the British Government that provided the US government false information of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction. As I recall, the US first went into Afghanistan to help it defeat the USSR. Then there was this little matter in Bosnia when we aided Muslim Bosnians from Christian Serbia’s and racial purification.
Calculator only said close the borders, give humanitarian aid, and let the middle east fix their problems. We are damned if we try to get involved in the middle east and stop the terrorists and damned if we become isolationists.

Hey 5cats – can I tell you a little story? When I was visiting Paris, 9-10 years ago, I was super-nervous about communicating with locals and had worked to get a little French in my brain. My boyfriend and I were at a subway station one evening at rush hour. And this younger woman eyeballed us and walked over. She stumbled to communicate a bit and asked if we could help her figure out the train. We asked if she was French. No she said, Italian. We all laughed and said, “we’re from the US” — not a French native between us. But we helped her and as she waited with us for the same train, she leaned in and said “I love the Americans. You helped our country and my grandparents and parents never forgot it.”

We were floored. And it makes me a little teary to type this. She stuck right by us for the entire ride, she was young and alone. Like we had a friend for life in this vast foreign-ness. I’ll never, ever forget it..

TT- one more thing: go under for a time, but the difference at times like these is to never give up on humanity. The challenge is to love harder, have more compassion, and to believe in the good in the world. Then, act on it! In this jaded media driven society, we must look past it, and find the warm ness -and find it in those we don’t know-at least the ones next door, and in our neighborhood.

To me Paris means love & renewal, chocolates & croissants. It was with great joy that my late husband & I once surprised our elder granddaughter with a ticket to join us on a trip to Paris. The news of the carnage there last night is devastating, yet the video clip of the soccer fans singing “La Marseilles” as they filed out of the stadium reassured me that the spirit of the people of Paris is not broken & that once again the City of Lights will delight residents & visitors alike.
