Last night Brooks was interviewer by E! about his cancer scandal. If you missed that start HERE.
Tonight in part two, the interviewer brought up the Girth Brooks thing. She said that Brianna suggested that he showed her is penis. Brooks cleared that up quickly saying what she said was that he wanted to show her his penis. None of that ever happened. Brooks says that one night while he was out with Ryan and some guys (BTW, I don’t think that meeting was televised. And Ryan armed with a recording device, why was Ryan even hanging out with Brooks if he had done all of these things to Brianna?) when a Garth Brooks song was played and he joked to the group of men only that in college his nickname was Girth Brooks. Apparently, Ryan related that back to his wife.
Brooks also says that he heard Brianna on speakerphone with Vicki say that she will say or do anything to the media, the press, to your friends, to get that man away from her mother.
On to Brooks documentation. He showed E! invoices from treatment he received at City of Hope. The interviewer is looking at the documentation and asks Brooks to stage for the record again, exactly what his diagnosis is. He says Stage 3 Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.
They show three bills on the screen that Brooks provided and there are three items in huge letters on top of them those are “acetaminophen tablet” (Tylenol), Chemo IV injection, and Sulfate. I got up and looked at what I could see of the papers and there is a lot of chemo stuff on there. I’m not sure why they chose to blow up Tylenol and Sulfate. The only question is whether the documents are authentic. The bill is for around 30K for chemo in January. He also shows a letter from his oncologist there who was trying to get his insurance company United Healthcare to approve a very expensive chemo drug he felt he needed as he had been treating Brooks since 2013 and the standard chemo was not providing a positive result.
E! consulted another physician (why not ask the oncologist who wrote the letter?) about the drug. That doctor said is was an appropriate drug that is specific to lymphomas which is what Brooks has. He did stipulate that this indicated Brooks has cancer only if the letter had not been modified. E! reached out to City of Hope and claims they received no response. Brooks would not provide E! with information on his doctor. But wait, HIS SIGNATURE IS ON THE LETTER! He works at City of Hope? Call a cab, go into his office, show him the letter and ask him if it is an actual letter or a forgery. HOW HARD IS THIS?
And now we have yet another segment coming up. I ain’t got no time for this! I have Below Deck at 9 dammit!
In segment two, the interviewer asks Brooks about if he had an affair with Vicki while she was married to Donn. He says they had an emotional affair in 2007 and he was wrong for that. He says that is what initiated Brianna’s dislike of him because she felt he played a role in the demise of their relationship. The host does a voice over trying to make this “Brooks giving two different stories” about Brianna’s issues with him because in a previous interview Brooks said she has “daddy issues.” Well, Brianna’s lack of a father, and her on and off again relationship with Donn as a father figure surely was evident on all ten seasons. So sorry E! but that is not a gotcha moment. Brianna has lots of issues and many reasons she doesn’t like Brooks. Jealousy of her mother’s affections not being the least of them in my opinion.
However, there is a clear discrepancy in fact regarding when Brooks was diagnosed. The interviewer says he has said twice today that he was diagnosed in October, but previously he said it was in September. Brooks says it was the end of September or the beginning of October. The interviewer says she has a text between Vicki and Shannon on September 9th where Vicki is discussing the diagnosis with Shannon. WHOOPS! Brooks is busted, it would seem, he replies, “Gotcha…. okay ,,,,first of September then…” and shrugs. I think I would remember when I was diagnosed with cancer. But on the other hand I don’t remember more things than I do remember these days and chemo probably would exacerbate my forgetfulness.
Next, they asked about the “death scare” which is apparently when Vicki told Tamra and Brianna that Brooks was dying of pancreatic cancer. Brooks says he can’t explain why Vicki would tell people who. Brooks says at that time he thought there were lesions around his pancreas. He says that is not pancreatic cancer nor is it pancreatitis, it’s that’s part of the NHL. Vicki heard pancreatic cancer. And she relayed that information.
Finally, (oh I doubt this is finally anything) the host says on the one hand none of the women ever directly asked him about his condition but on March the 9th Vicki sent a text asking Meghan to stop asking about the cancer. Brooks agrees that he told Vicki to ask the women not to ask about his cancer treatment. I don’t see how that is the AHA! moment they seem to think it is. The women were raging bitches to Vicki about it and he wanted the constant questioning to stop.
Wouldn’t it be a crime to show a doctor’s name on a letter to an insurance company if it was not true? I will say that the inside address was not the Doctor, but a case manager… the letter was signed by the doctor though. My brain hurts with all of this. As soon as I think, fine, Brooks has cancer, we can all move on, something else says… well maybe but it’s still possible he is faking it.
So basically, nothing was proven or disproven. Are you surprised? They end with “more to come on that, I’m sure.”
