Opening Flash Forward
The flash forward is a frantic Frank running into the hospital screaming for the doctors to tell him what is going on and to save her life. Annalise flat lined and Frank is escorted out. As he walks back to his car he becomes perfectly calm again! Then we see a dead Catherine Hapstall in his back seat. Whoa!!! I didn’t see that coming.
Present Day
In real time, Frank and Laurel are busy screwing their brains out. But the second Frank gets up to shower, Laurel starts snooping through his stuff because she still doesn’t trust him. After all, he did have a suitcase full of money sitting in a storage container!
After Asher learned of Bonnie’s childhood, he agreed that he wouldn’t help Sinclair out anymore. Although, I’m still not convinced that the video was really Bonnie. Annalise knew showing something like that would convince Asher not to take a plea deal. In exchange for not helping Sinclair, Asher now needs Annalise to help him with something he did that was really bad. Annalise agrees to protect him because,” that’s what we do for people we love! “
Bonnie is in disbelief that Asher isn’t going to tell what he knows. But who can blame her. All Annalise ever tells her is that she screws everything up. So Annalise tells her that Asher does love her and has agreed not to say anything.
Wes is being all crazy and giving the evil eye to Frank. He still wants answers and won’t focus on anything else until he finds out what happened to Rebecca.
Annalise goes to see Sinclair. She demands that Sinclair leave Asher alone or she will go to the press and tell them the whole story. Sinclair is fine with that because she plans to destroy Annalise in court by defeating her in the Hapstall case.
The Procedural Case of the Week
Annalise receives an extremely important phone call from her friend Jill. Jill killed her husband during an argument. Annalise questions her while on the phone still. Was there a struggle? Yes. Do you have any marks on you? Yes. Right before Annalise hangs up to go to her house she tells Jill to call the police but don’t talk until she gets there. Annalise storms into the house taking charge. But after looking around a bit Annalise realizes that Jill has staged the crime scene. Just before she can say anything to her the police come over to confirm Jill is transgendered. So now the asshole detective has decided that the husband found out his wife was transgendered and so she killed him to hide her secret. Well isn’t he just fucking brilliant! Because all transgendered people are hiding their past from there significant others?!? How ignorant! As it turns out Jill’s husband had been abusing her for years. Jill just always covered it up. Finally, Jill got tired of the abuse and decided to kill him. She staged to crime scene and claimed self defense because she was worried that if she was found guilty they would throw her into a men’s prison.
Annalise provides the prosecutor with evidence of corruption by Judge Milestone, Asher’s dad. In return she wants Jill’s charges dropped and to get Sinclair off of her back!
Annalise and Jill have a moment where they both admit that they are happy that their husbands are dead.
The interns are trying to find a new suspect to blame the murder on. They go to the siblings and start suggesting possible suspects. But the siblings shut each one down. Asher suggests that they look into their biological parents as suspects. The sibling veto that right away. So Laurel, Conner and Michaela are sitting around gossiping and talking shit about the siblings. That’s when Laurel figures out that Catherine has been recording them. The siblings are pissed and tell Annalise that they don’t want the interns around anymore.
The interns go to Oliver to get him to hack into the adoption agency to find the sibling birth parents. In doing this they find that the Aunt had actually given her own child up for adoption years ago. So basically, a long lost cousin they didn’t know about is potentially framing the siblings and killed his own mother to inherit all the money. Annalise tells the siblings this good news and allows he interns to take all the credit.
Annalise goes to visit Nate after learning his wife has died. She brings cobbler but Nate doesn’t answer. (Obviously the bitches over in the O.C don’t do cobblers OR casseroles!!)
After stopping by a second time with more cobbler, Nate answers. He is angry and telling Annalise how much he doesn’t care about her. He’s mad that he wasn’t able to spend time with his wife because he was sitting in jail and court. He gave Nia the pills only because he loved her. He tells Annalise that no one will ever love her that much. Then he demands that she leave.
Creepy Wes was in the hallway watching this all go down. Annalise follows him home to talk to him. Wes doesn’t believe Annalise. And she said “I know and it’s because of your mother!” she claims that Wes’s mother killed herself. So Wes can’t trust anyone especially a woman. So wait, Wes is going crazy because he has Mommy’s issues? Lame.
Asher learns that Annalise turned over evidence to have his father prosecuted.
Bonnie meets with Sinclair and learns that the girl Tiffany that Asher has been so worried about was once ganged raped. It was implied that Asher was apart of this in some way. But I don’t want Asher to be that type of person so I’m not believing it just yet.
Frank takes Laurel to meet his big Italian family. He also says that it hurt his feelings that Laurel was doubting him about Rebecca. Then after dinner he meets up with his graveyard friend and takes back Rebecca’s body to go bury it in the woods.
Oliver confesses to Conner that he tracked down the Hapstall cousin and has hacked into his computer. Conner is freaked out and he should be, because the cousin knows that Oliver hacked into his computer. The cousin is watching them have this conversation through the computer!!! Nothing better happen to sweet innocent Oliver.
Flash Forward
The ending flash forward is Frank putting Catherine Hapstall’s body out in the woods. He doesn’t bury her so I guess he wants the body to be found?!? The next morning a police dog finds her. And she is alive! Whaaatttt?????? So are they framing Catherine for Sinclair’s murder and possible Annalise Murder?
First of all HUGE thanks To Tamara Missy for getting this done for us despite having a very eventful few days that put her behind.
I have so much to say! Mostly WTF?
But also, I do not believe for one minute that that was Frank’s family. Guys like Frank don’t have families!
Also, Asher has been the odd man out since season one. There seems to be a lot of stuff about him we need to find out.
I’ll be back. I am swapped with the website right now (which is a good thing) but I am anxious to discuss this with you guys!
For some reason I do believe that’s Frank’s family although it seemed like its a family from the movie, Goodfellas. I think that the Wes character has almost been forgotten somehow.
For some reason, I think whoever killed Sinclair is different than the person who shot Annaliese. Although my money is on Bonnie for one of them.
Thanks so much for the recap! I don’t always catch everything so this filled in some holes for me. I was extremely surprised to see Catherine was alive – this has become an amazing show.
I love your recaps! I am two shows behind but I always read your recaps first. I am going to try to stay up and watch this and two scandals tonight with my kids’ Halloween candy in bed. I shall be back 😉
I get the feeling Bonnie’s character is going to be killed off….
Thank you for the nice recap! This show is a story problem and my brain takes a left turn, so I appreciate the help! 🙂 Catherine popping up at the end was freaky!!
Thanks for doing this TamaraMissy. I agree with Stella. The further we go the behinder I get. Your recap does help. I am so confused about who has murdered who, I quit guessing.
I think it was Frank’s family. Maybe. I decided that Frank only introduced Laurel to get her to stop snooping about the whole Rebecca issue.
