Couples Therapy Recap: Gene Therapy

Couples Therapy Season Six

We are back on Couples Therapy this week with Joe under arrest and Kaylin laying around barely noticing his absence. Joe has flown to NYC to turn himself in for failure to appear on a domestic violence charge. Kaylin says she knew about the case but apparently he told her it was resolved.  She says it will be hard to trust Joe after this. Really? You actually trusted him in the first place? Kaylin says she doesn’t provoke Joe so she never felt like she was in danger. She said her parents were violent and she blames her mother for provoking her father.  Kaylin cries and says she has wanted help for three years. Which makes no sense because she just said that Joe was not a problem for her. The other houseguests have hinted that she may be detoxing so perhaps something was clipped and they are shipping her to rehab. The whole thing was very oddly edited. Jen said something about “when she comes back.” So who knows.  Kaylin does a talking head where she says she is disappointed that her opportunity to get help was cut short because of Joe. This is so confusing.

Whenever there is something dramatic going down in a reality show house, we get a HOUSE MEETING. Viewers live for a good HOUSE MEETING. Perhaps we will learn more. Wow the court date was either on a day he was there at the house or close to it.  Great priorities, Joe.  Dr. Jen says that her hope is that they will come back into the house once the legal issue is resolved. So why not let Kaylin stay? None of this makes any sense. Janice talks about growing up in a violent home. Dr. Jen says that her experiences might be beneficial for Joe to hear. Janice sort of had a spat with Jaclyn in group basically because Janice wasn’t letting Jaclyn speak.

Couples Therapy Janice

Everyone moves into the kitchen to talk about the allegations against Joe. Carmen is leaning over the kitchen counter while Adrian is molesting her from behind. I’m all about PDA, but this is Adrian totally rubbing Carmen’s exposed belly from behind, then rubbing her back and ass, then looking like he is trying to pull her jeans down, it’s a lot. Janice is ready to crucify Joe and Neil says he wants to hear all the facts.  The facts are all over the Internet from an incident in August of 2014 where Joe allegedly beat and strangled his GF at the time after becoming jealous over some photos of her out with other men. The trial date (and thus the filming) was in May 2015.  The pictures are bad. And the whole house naturally Googled them.

Big Ang makes a huge Italian meal for everyone. Over dinner the chat some more. Scott seems to think this is going to overshadow his ability to get therapy and everything is going to be about domestic violence.

HAVE YOU MISSED A COUPLES THERAPY RECAP? THEY’RE ALL HERE!

Carmen and Adrian Meet With Dr. Jenn

Carmen says that she met Adrian on social media and they began dating when she was still living as a man half the time and a woman the other half.  Carmen began the transition process while they were dating but did not tell Adrian. Carmen was worried that if she transitioned into a woman he would not want her anymore. So Adrian is gay? I’m not concerned with the label. I’m just trying to figure out if he was only dating men prior to dating Carmen.

Gene Therapy

Apparently, some quack has come up with a compatibility test based on DNA. This is of course ridiculous. I am assuming at the end they will say that it was all a test of their love or something. The first person he analyzes is Big Ang who he calls a listener. BWAHAHAHA. He says she and Neil are very compatible at 80%.  This is ridiculous. His DNA tests reveal that these Carmen and Adrian are probably very touchy feely. He tells them this as they are both practically rounding third base with each other. They are  78% compatible.  Janice gets the same hormone as Adrian which supposedly means she is a “thinker.” I can’t with this. Rocky has a lot of stress hormone. Ya think?  These two are the most compatible at 85%  Finally Scott is a worrier like Rocky. His assessments of people with the same result are totally different. Jaclyn is a thinker too. He says they are not sexually compatible. They both deny that. He says the are not compatible at 25%.  This is such bullshit. Scott and Jaclyn agree with me. Scott says it is all science fiction. I agree. He did say it was as believable as the theory of evolution though, and people tend to believe that.

It’s weird only having four couples. Jaclyn and Janice get into it because Janice is thrilled to be most compatible and Jaclyn  is the least.

Jenn comes back to yell at everyone for Googling Joe. Like that isn’t something everyone does. I’m sure tons of y’all did it while reading this post. She storms off telling everyone to express their feelings. Jaclyn takes this to mean she should tell Janice how annoying she is. Jaclyn says that Janice is too loud. So Janice gets up and starts screaming.

Later that night Jaclyn and Scott have a whisper fight in their room. Jaclyn is pissed that Scott just sat there when she was arguing with Janice and didn’t back her up. She felt alone. In my opinion, Jaclyn was doing just fine and didn’t need any backup. Rocky didn’t chime in for Janice either. It was a female argument. Now if men had been involved, then he should step in. It seems like that is how Scott felt too, but he is willing to step in if that’s what she wants.

Next week: Janice has a meltdown again. Kaylin and Joe come back and suddenly Kaylin is done with Joe. Thank God because something needs to break this up. It’s becoming the Janice show. And Janice plans to insert herself into the Joe drama, and I don’t think Joe will let that go without a reaction.

I didn’t understand why Kaylin had to leave. The teen mom lady stayed on and she really didn’t have a boyfriend. I thought that was strange too.

It was especially bad to kick her out for just a couple of days only to bring her back. Unless she was going to get DETOX.

Thanks! Everyone seems to have scheduling conflicts with Couples Therapy so the posts don’t get much love.

I have been an irregular viewer of this show. It is more tolerable to just read about it here. I don’t know why, but the Janice’s that appear on one kind of reality show after another totally irritate me. She even did a simple cameo on Botched last season. Didn’t have anything done, just sort of a drive by for some cash. The Couple’s Therapy folks are botched in a different way.

Speaking of Botched, they have tacked on an additional waste of 30 minutes to the new season show so it rides on the good ratings of the actual show. The 2nd part is Heather acting like a talk show host akwarly interviewing the 2 doctors and past patients about their exprience of revision surgery. Just a meaningless money grab. All three of them seem rather ill at ease, like I think they are on the main show when Dubrow tries to act the comedian.

I HATE correcting people….but Janice did have work done on Botched for her breasts. They had that ripple affect and she really did need them replaced. She was her usual pain in the ass self. She took the drainage tubes out at home, got wasted on her medication and made Dr. Terry want to kill her. But like you, I am really sick of seeing and hearing her. And that 30 extra mins. at the end…..just like Andy sneaking in WWHL at the end of a RHO….

After watching Janice, I need something to calm me. She stresses the hell out of me. I have avoided the first few episodes but your VERY ENTERTAINING recaps made me want to watch the last 2 episodes. Thanks T for blogging on this show!

Lord h’ammercy, why is Joe or Kailyn even on this show? They’re not even a couple in real life.

Here’s the thing, Joe Budden is essentially the poster child for therapy in East coast hip hop. Everybody and their momma (who knows him, his work, that scene in New York) knows he’s the rap version of a sometimes brooding, always neurotic, I-need-to-talk-to-my-therapist before I lose it New Yorker. He’s also glib, charming, and an addict. Kailyn was essentially a homeless street waif with a kind heart and daddy issues that he took in, & had a dysfunctional relationship with her while he used, and she enabled as a result of her “Captain Save-a-Addicted-Ass” complex (she comes from a broken home where she cared for addicted family members). He got her a gig on Love & Hip Hop, fixed her teeth (that poor child used to catch so much grief for that), but they broke up due to age difference (15 years?) and him not only pecking at Tahiry, but at anything with a big butt and a smile, and ALWAYS saying that he didn’t want to be committed, though he would “take care of her”. He agreed to go to therapy to help her find closure on their relationship. As for the charges, they’ve long been dropped, no evidence. Joe has a habit of getting involved with very, er, um “feisty” women of the ” urban music video vixen” variety, who have a tendency to snap & turn…as in snap on you then try to extort/blast/frame you in the process. It happens a lot in those crazy music kid circles, unfortunately.
