I just caught an interview with Joe and Gia Giudice on Entertainment Tonight. It went about like I expected. Joe does hint that Teresa is not holding up as well as we’ve been told by her whackadoodle new lawyer.
Joe’s demeanor was the usual Joe. He seems to find the whole situation ridiculous as if he can’t believe it is really happened and thinks the whole thing is a joke. He laughed throughout the entire interview. The vibe was incredibly laid back.
He was asked how Teresa is handling being in a federal prison, “She’s holding up, you know what I mean? I can’t say she’s doing great. She keeps her spirits up and tries to make us feel like she’s okay. But she’s really not.”
How often does he visit? “I’m allowed to go every other weekend. The girls could go every week.” Why are you not allowed to go every week? “Sigh, because I’m a convicted felon. (chuckles)” #FelonsByBravo
He was asked about Teresa’s kitchen job. Despite the Tre huggers thinking she is running the kitchen and cooking Italian feasts for everyone each day. The harsh reality is she is learning how to smuggle condiments out in her prison panties to use on microwaveable meals purchased in the commissary, according to Piper Kerman. Joe describes her job thusly, “I think she wipes down a couple of tables a day. Or whatever tables they have in there. She’s done within three minutes and that’s her job.”
Does seeing her in prison kind of prepare you to do time? “(laughing) No. Nobody’s ready for that. What are you going to do in there? Work out? Waste time? Play cards?(more laughing)”
Do you think that if you never did the Real Housewives of New Jersey then your future would be different? “Absolutely. I mean everybody always pointed to the show. The lawyers pointed to the show. ‘Well if you weren’t ever on the show you wouldn’t be in this position.’ ” Still blaming Bravo. You were the idiots trying to keep your felonies in the closet who then went and flaunted huge sums of cash on national television.
She asks about him dating while Teresa is in prison. He said, ” He says um, no. I never go on dates. I would never go on a date with anybody. That would be stupid of me.” There you have it. Juicy Joe would never do anything stupid. He rubs his nose while he is saying that and appears to be lying. I think the term “dates” makes him feel like he is being truthful. Instead of flatly denying it he says, “I never go on dates.” To me that is the response of someone who is lying.
Does anything about this experience make your marriage stronger? He said “No, we’re pretty close. I’m taking care of the kids. If I wasn’t taking care of the kids we’d be done for sure. My kids are my priority I take care of them no matter what.”
Next Gia comes in fully spackled and dressed to the nines. She’s got her mother’s fake smile and “love, love, love!” attitude down to a science. She seems happy to be on TV. She looks very pretty.
When was the last time you saw your mom? “Last weekend” So you see her every weekend pretty much? “Pretty much, but now it’s like the count down. So she’s ‘like four more visits!’ ” Four more visits sounds more like every other week to me.
Gia talks about the episode in the upcoming show where she is getting ready for an eighth grade dance and is teary-eyed about her mother not being there. In true Teresa fashion, Tre asks if she has her make-up on and tells her not to cry and ruin it. Gia says she misses her mom but she is pretty strong so she gets through it. Gia says she learned to be strong from her parents. Gia says bad things can happy to any family but things could be worse. Her mom is coming home. Her dad is going to come home. She’s looking forward to Christmas with the entire family together.
Teresa Checks In premieres tomorrow on Bravo at 8 p.m.
