Captain Lee reams quite a few people out in his Below Deck blog this week. But three of them seem to be on the brink of getting that one way plane ticket. The captain seems to think Kate is just the greatest thing, which I think skews his opinion of some of the rest of the crew. Let’s look at what he says about Rocky, Dane and Leon.
Captain Lee’s thought on Rocky…
Rocky, it’s a crew meal. It’s what you wanted. How tough is that? You had plenty of notice, and you’re supposed to be a chef. I’m not buying that crap that it’s been so long since you have been in the kitchen, you forgot. Bullshit! Any first year culinary student can bake chicken so that it’s done and not raw (and over two hours late). It’s not that tough. I get it, you were trying to impress people, but doing your job correctly would be impressive at this point. (um, cooking is not her job. Apparently, ironing your shorts is. She may suck at ironing too, but she sings well!) Now, the situation with you and Emile is one of your own creation, similar to Frankestein. This is what you made, and now you don’t want to deal with it. So you’re going to try to deal with it by leaving him a note? A sit down, face-to-face, serious conversation would be more in order. Not on the fly, in passing, but a sit down conversation. If it gets to the point where it is affecting the boat performance overall, I will get involved and deal with it in my own fashion. Oh, and I still want to know what you see on the ceiling that the rest of us don’t.
I agree that the Emile thing is ridiculous. The captain reams out Emile as well but I think Rocky will be tossed overboard before Emile’s issues reach critical mass. Once Rocky is gone, Emile will get his head back in the game. Anyone know what that ceiling reference is all about?
Thought on Dane…
Dane, I am not sure of you yet, but for some reason, I don’t have a warm, fuzzy feeling about you. Can’t put my finger on it, but I’m willing to let it play out and see how things go. Getting out on that jet ski with your radios on was not the brightest thing you’ve done so far. Think it will serve you well to keep your head down, mouth shut, and learn and work your ass off. Oh and thanks for being a good sport about calibrating the radar. You took it well, and shows you may have a future after all. We shall see.
Dane was apparently hired because someone thought he was cute. I don’t. And he doesn’t seem to have a clue what he is doing. With Eddie’s mind back on shore, this could result in disaster.
Leon, why are you so unwilling to adapt to anything that doesn’t fit in anyone’s world but Leon’s? Oh and by the way is “yuz” a real word? “Yuz don’t want lunch.” If you insist on pretending that you are superior to the world, you should act it. First of all, Leon isn’t American, and his dialect will be different from Americans. He’s half British and half Jamaican and lives in Australia. Also, Yuz/Youse is a word if your from the Jersey Shore.
Communicating is two, count them, two people exchanging ideas, thoughts, whatever. That would be you and one other person, not one person talking to you and you arbitrarily saying no. Yes, and when the other person is pain in the ass Kate who talks down Leon like he works for her communication is not starting from a good place. Kate has a target every season and this year it is Leon. And Rocky.
It is becoming painfully obvious to me that charter work, being a team player, and getting along with your crew are not part of your vocabulary. I am not inclined to watch much more of you just arbitrarily throwing a wrench into things because the rest of the world in not conforming to your idea of how it should be. When the guests request something, it’s your job to see that they get it. Period, no bitching, it’s why you are here. Why put everyone around you on edge, because you are going to throw a hissy fit about doing your job.
Leon has owned and been executive chef at multiple restaurants. Currently, he owns a restaurant in Cairns that does quite well. He is well respected in his field and every single charter on this season has raved about his food. Unlike last season when everyone on the crew loved the chef but the charter guests were unhappy. Ben’s philosophy was pretty much make whatever he wanted and the guests better like it. And Kate covered for him A LOT.
You are extremely fortunate that I wasn’t there to witness your little tantrum. It’s called being prepared for whatever comes up, that’s what a charter chef (and you claim to be the best one ever) does, and does it with a smile.
Did the guests get what they want every single time? Yep. Did they love it? They did. Case closed.
I actually think Leon is ready to go home. He got some more publicity for his restaurant and being on board with a bunch of Americans kids has got to be annoying.
Does anyone else think Kate is at least part of the problem between these two?
