Kim Richards Citizens Arrest Booking Report Details

RHOBH KIm's Booking Photo

The Kim Richards security report on her recent theft at a Target store in the valley just got weirder. I know a lot of you were wondering how she could fit $600 worth of stuff from Target into one cart, and I silently thought to myself, hell, is she an amateur?  If you are trying to rob the Target, you go to cosmetics and lingerie (20 new workout bras anyone?), appliances and if it’s a super Target you can pick up some pricey groceries (steaks? beer and wine?).

But it appears that Kim started looting right at the front door. When I used to go to Target (back when I did things) there was always a mini dollar store area right when you walk in. It’s full of stickers and kids shit that I used to buy for prizes for my kids I used to teach. There is often teacher stuff in there too, like banners and general crap. According to the latest TMZ report, Kim filled an entire cart with this crap which she put in canvas Target bags.  Kiddie stickers, kiddie scissors, animal crackers, and other cheapo back to school supplies were placed in Target cloth bags that she claimed she paid for.RHOBH Kyle

She pushed that through the check out line according to TMZ and then went back with another cart that she filled with cosmetics and toys.

According to TMZ, “The report says Kim then took the second cart to the express line and began lugging the first cart out of the store. She got 3 feet out of the store — enough to make a shoplifting case — when a security guard approached and escorted her to the booking room, where they took her pic. Kim told security she didn’t recall if she paid for the goods or not.”

If you go to TMZ you can see all the pencils and stickers and back to school stuff Kim allegedly stole. I maintain my position that this is very sad.

I am hearing that Kim was only hospitalized for three days which is in line with a 5150 and is not in rehab.

Once again, if you would like to spew vitriol at Kim Richards, this is not the website for that. I won’t allow it. I have heard your bitching and whining about my position on this. When you spend all your time running a website you will be allowed to post whatever hateful shit you want. I don’t need to hear your pissing and moaning about not being able to express your opinion. Or how this is not a level playing field. Or how I am “sensoring” your ideas.  I am moderating comments for my own personal reasons that I am not required to explain to you. Argumentative and/or attempts to debate whether or not this is a place you can speak your mind will not be tolerated. I continue to govern this site at my pleasure. If you want to spew vitriol, you can do that at pretty much any other place that covers this story. But you can’t do it here. I would hope you would respect my decision on how I choose to handle this story at my site. If you don’t  like the rules here, you may continue to fuck yourself.

Unfortunately relapses aren’t always as simple as a rehab stint. Something caused the relapse and she needs to comes to terms with it. It has to come from her. All anyone can do is be supportive and call her out when they know she’s high or drunk. They could go to meetings with her, but the meetings don’t work if you’re not working the meetings.

I think this is a great example of the powerlessness people feel when they have a loved one suffering like this. I’ve got some slow-mo train wrecks like this in my personal life and we all just look at each other like “You see this, right?” and have no idea how to help these people we’ve loved for so long. When someone is in the throes of this disease and really determined to hit bottom and not choose their bottom, it’s one of life’s more helpless times for all. I feel for that whole family, because at least she can self medicate if it gets to be too much for her. Her kids, her sisters – they are just along for the ride. Super sad.

Damn TT got the red pen out for that one! Was that because, Target? Btw they definitely still have the little dollar section but it’s nothing but junk. I’m sure I’ll feel otherwise when I have children but Target is enough of a black hole to throw away your money as it is, and I’m always a willing participant.

I said I wouldn’t comment on Kim anymore but I do want to say something. I support you 100% TT on your policy regarding Kim comments. I am glad you are taking a stand. This is a sad and serious situation that she is in. It should not be made fun of or have hateful comments made about it. Kim could very easily turn up dead one day.

The one year anniversary of my cousin’s death just passed. And it was determined that she died of a blow to head instead of alcohol/drug overdose. Sometimes it’s the situations that addicts find themselves in that does them verses the substance.

Everyone should pray for or send positive energy to Kim for her well being.

Sorry about your cousin, Angel, truly. My friend’s brother had a similar deal where he feel down the stairs drunk and his “friends” just left him there after taking his keys for a joyride. Brain swelling led to death. You’re right on about the situations addicts find themselves in.

“Sometimes it’s the situations that addicts find themselves in that does them verses the substance.”

So true… the chase of the substance leads them to do things they would not normally do if there were not addicted. Sorry you lost someone close to you to this disease.

My Nephews son was sober for over 10 years. He met a woman that was “not comfortable” with his going to meetings and attending church regularly. She said they were a “crutch.” Unfortunately he married her and made her his higher power. She encouraged him to drink a glass of wine with her on occasion (his drug of choice was Meth) saying it was O.K.
Eventually, he did. It took about a month and he was right back to meth. She was horrified at what that looked like and left him. He met a 21 yo meth addict that looked a lot like his sister and tired to “save” her. She and another guy she knew brutally murdered him for his truck. He had 3 children. I consider his cause of death to be his addiction, because he would never have put himself in that situation had he been sober.

So sad! It’s so similar to my cousin. “These are my friends”. No they are people trying to use and or take advantage of you. I’m afraid Kim will find herself in a similar situation. Hell, she could be running from the store cops and get hit by a car even. I hope she snaps to soon.

I find this very sad. Clearly, whatever began as substance abuse has escalated into some sort of mental illness. I wonder why her sisters don’t sign a mental hygiene warrant (or is that what a 5150 is? If so, 3 days isn’t long enough) so after everything is out of her system, professionals can start to help her. I realize that you have to “want” help to get help but maybe whatever she is doing is causing her not to see how bad she really is. I hope she gets the help she needs. There’s no way anyone would want to be in the press they way she has been recently. I feel if she doesn’t get help, she won’t be around much longer. Just my opinion. I wish someone would scoop her up and fix her.

I am not a Kim Richards fan, BUT – This is a very sad situation. It’s like she has reverted to being a child. The I don’t remember line, well it works in many instances by not when it comes to shoplifting. Can’t her family take her to a doctor and have here ruled incompetent. This seems to be the only way they can save Kim from herself. I would think there is plenty of evidence to prove her actions are not what they should be. I do believe the healing process for Kim will take years. They say she is in rehab and then it seems like moments later she is out. That doesn’t do any good to really help someone. She is an expert at talking her way out of things. The little girls ways she uses works on a lot of people, except the ones that really know she is sick and needs major help. This help should NOT come with a camera in front of it either. I wish Kim and her family all the best.

Yes. The 5150 is most helpful when there is some sort of mental health issue, previously diagnosed that has gone unmedicated It really doesn’t work that well for people who are just addicts

A psychiatric hold can only be maintained after 72 hours if a person is actively suicidal, homicidal, or psychotic. Generally you have to get in front of a judge past 72 hours if the patient doesn’t agree to treatment. The laws in CA make it very difficult to keep someone past that point much less get them on a conservatorship. Frankly, it is ok in some States to be psychotic (having what we call residual symptoms) as long as you are not in danger of harming yourself or anyone else which most mentally ill people are not.

I’m not a Kim Richards fan either, but I hope that she was medically cleared during one of her hospital stays. She could have something horrible like early-onset Alzheimer’s disease or a myriad of other alcohol- related illnesses. Even some auto-immune diseases can cause confused thinking. I’m not a doctor, but have had some exchanges with a few people with these illnesses.

For the life of me, I’m just so confused as to why Kim can not see the huge error of her ways…not once, not twice, not even three times. I’m genuinely confused about that because, ya know, there’s this thing called common sense. I’m genuinely perplexed and can’t wrap my head around her point of view. I’m not saying this to be nasty. I’m genuinely confused by this woman.

There are certain mental illnesses that actually rob the person of having the ability to have insight. It’s been a big point of frustration for mental health pros for a long time and we just recently located the part of the brain that is responsible for this and been able to see the damage on brain scans. When you abuse substances the brain is effected globally so that part of the brain would also be attacked. I don’t know Kim. I’ve never treated Kim. I’m just giving you general information about these disease processes.

Exactly. Nobody sane would do the things to themselves that we addicts do, over and over. And contrary to common belief, we do feel the pain and shame of the consequences, even if it appears on the outside we don’t. It’s horrible to be in such a cycle. Some people can hit bottoms that are unfathomable and still continue, it’s very scary, but ultimately people only get well when they actually have the will to do so and aren’t doing it to placate others or because they were forced. If Kim gets well, it will be when she actually wants it for herself and throws aside all her diva demands and does the work. Poor thing.

The shoplifting is a symptom; it is not the disease or root cause. I’m not qualified to diagnose her problems. Many studies list depression and loss as motivators for shoplifting. My sister-in-law shoplifted and was caught. She abused prescription drugs and was super depressed, well, that does happen when you overload your body with drugs/alcohol. I hope something happens to stop her before it’s too late.

obviously, you can’t. she is mentally ill and suffers from the disease of addiction. It would be insane for her thinking to make sense to a sane person, she is not sane, she is unwell, she has a disease of the mind that by definition causes one to repeat destructive behavior, defying all logic and common sense.

I would expect nothing less than a healthy person being utterly baffled by a mentally ill/addict’s behavior. It is baffling. And this is spoken from someone who has been in Kim’s shoes, only I actually do have 3+ years sober now. When you are in your active addiction everything you do is irrational to everyone else, self destructive, illogical, etc. That is the nature of the illness. People spend years beating their heads against the wall not because they “cannot see” the error of their ways, but because they cannot stop repeating them, as they are ill. I pray for her because nobody else except those who have been there know what living in a mind like that is actually like.

Thanks for the insight, you are right on the money! I don’t think she’s realizing what she’s doing, maybe after the fact. Some outpatient mental health based therapy could help dramatically if done aggressively. Although she said in the ET interview that she has alot of help with that. Sometimes we have no idea how far we’ve buried ourselves until we become sober. These words of Wisdom & Encouragement can do an Addict a World of Good!✌✌✌

Yeah, you’re right, her saddening condition is actually the point of what we are all talking about relative to the post you shared today.

Given Kim has access to a world of support and resources more than 98% of of the population has ( Kathy, Kyle, Dr. Phil, fans, press, public scrutiny, friends in high places, intervention accesses, etc.), I guess it’s that much more disheartening that her rock bottom has become what it is…and may still be coming too. Its just seems so shockingly severe.

Imagine for a moment that you have severe depression. This disease is a relentless, cruel bastard. To get out of bed to take a piss could take a 30 min conversation in your mind to get the energy to get out of bed. Nothing brings you joy. Nothing. You look at people who you love so deeply and feel nothing. Things you use love to do – depression will rob the fuck out of it. The pain – insufferable. Your only highlight is to self medicate. You can’t make a decision to save your life. Be grateful that you don’t understand this.

I don’t know what came first with Kim, her addiction or mental health problems, but in my own family, my mother’s unchecked mental health issues lead to self-medicating. She was never more than a social drinker, never a pill taker even when it came to taking aspirin for a headache. Once she started to squash her depression and anxiety with drinking and pills, her life spiraled out of control. I feel like something similar happened to Kim.

It is hard to know as a caretaker of Kim if giving tough love or showing sympathy is right or wrong. I feel Kim’s pain and despite her actions and denial, I think she is very aware her life has unraveled. Another commenter on another of Tamara’s post said something like where there is life, there is hope. I totally agree. I wish only the best for Kim.

So am I. I’m permanently disabled now, but back when I had a job (w/a disposable income) and was on disability from my job, I would aimlessly wander around Target buying stuff just like that, too. Many times, I would overhear conversations of people, also in my shoes, who had run into each other, confessing to doing the same thing. I would donate those cute kid things to a local bed/mattress store that collects stuff for Foster Kids. With her head so messed up, maybe Kim actually DID think she paid for all that stuff?

I appreciate that you would do that being such other sites bash her & I’m sure if Kim was to read the comments from these mean gossipers, they are sure to push her over the edge even more. I absolutely hate that Kim is going thru this & seems as if she has no one in her corner as for as family to come to her rescue as they stay neutral other than Kathy H. saying a few words of encouragement. My fear for Kim is that she will do something to herself, & that breaks my heart! She has so many fans that are rooting for her! Get better Kim, you got lots of people praying for you! We Love You!

It is one of the reasons I have, on occasion, defended Kyle. Dealing with Kim cannot be easy. I felt so sad for her when Kim screamed that Brandy was like a “real sister” at Kyle on national television.

They are staying neutral in the PRESS. It is f-ing HARD to have someone committed. I think too hard at times – but it was probably too easy at one point. But Kim is an adult, and other adults can’t just randomly have her held against her will.

I can’t remember if it was here or on another Kim post that someone cited Amanda Bynes and Britney Spears. Keep in mind that their commitments/conservatorships came after they did some really extreme things. Amanda set herself ON FIRE. Britney ran in to a place (if I recall) and randomly shaved her head, then beat a paparazzi car with an umbrella (although that last one – under the right circumstances, might be considered sane). They also had pages and pages of weird tweets from Amanda.

Relatively speaking, shoplifting isn’t always an “insane” thing to do I’m sure that Kim has a plethora of excuses that to someone just meeting her – sound pretty reasonable.

Looking at that pic, even remembering all the meanness, the anger she sometimes has leveled at people on camera, I just want to hug her. Assumably her family knows her weak spots, what to withhold from her to force her into a facility. I hope they feel empowered to do it and don’t have their hands tied by something else.

I’m glad to see that you arent allowing Kim bashing-definitely not the time for that. Her mugshot is frightening-she looks old and gaunt, she looks horribly ill. I think her problems might go deeper than substance abuse at this point-I hope hope hope that someone steps in before it’s too late. That isnt a typical sneaky shoplifting case. She’s clearly decompensating on many levels. So is she actually homeless and living in her car?

I really hope that this is Kim’s rock bottom and that she is finally ready to climb back up. Ironically, the fact that she has more potential access to help than a lot of people is likely only setting her back further. She probably feels the pressure even more, which only adds fuel to the fire. Come on Kim, you can do it.

Does this sound to everyone else the way it sounds to me-that Kim’s family has finally decided to let her spiral down to her lowest point..? I have zero experience with this sort of thing, but always hear the advice that the family should stop “rescuing” the addict, stop facilitating their addiction, or helping them. How very sad and painful it must be when you are forced to hear about the low points because of TMZ’s devotion to publicizing every salacious detail. 🙁

I think pills can cause more bizarre behavior then alcohol, and of course, the two mixed are deadly. I feel for her family, I hope she can get the help she needs.

He didnt mention the specific type. That leads me to think that Kims issues is mental. Its easier to medicate than struggle every day silent diseases. After 25 yrs a person gets tired and gives up. Family, friends end up abandoning you.

I felt a big turning point was when she refused Dr. Phil’s offer. Whatever you think of him, he does hire the best and I think it was a big missed opportunity.

To me, Kim is crying out for help by acting out in many ways. Part of her really does want to be rescued and is overwhelmed by thinking that her life has become too much for her to navigate. With a non -famous person, there would be no press about the the Target incident, most likely. Someone must have made some money selling these photos to the press, right ? I ache for her and her family and realize that Kim doesn’t appear 100% ready to do the hard work to help herself yet. Breaking down in the spotlight multiplies the tough situation for her and her loved ones. Thank you ,Tamara, for choosing to run a blog with compassion.

Her situation is horiffic. Lots want to blame her family for not helping her; however, it’s all her family HAS done over the years that has enabled her to continue in her addictions, scott-free of any responsibility. Sadly, the addict gets to be high while the ones who care bear the toll of the disease. It’s an exhausting, circular Hell for all involved.

I truly hope her legal issues force her into a *90-day inpatient or jail time* situation.

I agree. It’s like getting mad at a schizophrenic person for hearing voices. Addiction does affect the family terribly but look at Kim — she couldn’t take care of an animal, she lost her job, she’s been arrested twice in as many months, was issued a 5150, and will probably die soon, all because of alcohol. She’s not in some happyland perma high she could stop if she wa a better person; she’s fucking miserable. I’ve said mean things about Kim in the past, mainly after she intimated Alexia was at fault for being bitten, but I feel shitty about it now because I really don’t think anyone has ever really loved or taken care of Kim for Kim’s sake and not due to appearances and/or obligation.

Exactly. They get mad because they can’t wrap their heads around anything taking away their freedom to choose, or “coming before” their family, etc. The disease is unfathomable to most, and it’s really not their fault. It’s just people being incapable or unwilling to fathom a reality or situation other than their own. We’d all be better off- kim and others suffering like her included- if people could show a little more understanding for one another.

Is it possible that in her altered state, Kim thought that her children were still small or elementary school age? I was just curious about what made her decide she needed those specific types of items versus something like lingerie or even electronics.
