Dance Moms Recap: Sour Grapes From Poor Loser!

Dance Moms Group Dance

Dance Moms begins again at 3rd Street Dance Studio. Interestingly, this week’s Celebrity Wife Swap also feature 3rd Street Dance Company where Jill from the Love Boat changed lives with Charo and had to learn Flamenco dancing. Abby is there with an attitude and congratulations them on winning the group dance without Maddie as the lead. Then she insulted Nia’s lead in the dance saying that basically she was forgettable. There is no pleasing Abby. Nia says if she had more opportunities maybe she would have been better at it. Abby rips off the lowest picture cover to reveal….NIA!  Because her ridiculous solo came in fifth. Jo Jo was next. She was later during the entire dance. Next is Maddie. She didn’t stand out in the group dance. Um, because she was not the lead. I have never seen this look on Maddie’s face. She is not happy. Next, Mackenzie, then Kendall who didn’t even dance. She just stood in front of giant TV while a crappy video played.

Maddie and Mackenzie are going head to head in solos. Maddie is going to do tap. Jo Jo is also getting a solo. I hope Jo Jo beats them both. Abbie is bringing in a guest choreographer. The choreographer is giving the girls a fresh fun routine. The girls are loving the fun vibe. Abby changes the line up to put Maddie in the center. Abby pulled her bumpit off her head, fluffed it up and put it back on. Dance Moms Maddie

Abby spends all of her time on Maddie’s solo. Abby is super mean to Jo Jo about a master class she is going to with another teacher. She makes fun of her dad’s income. The choreographer is super sweet to Jo Jo. Mackenzie’s solo looks like it has enough difficulty to beat Maddie if she can learn it. Melissa is not paying any attention to Mackenzie because Maddie’s Sia video is online and she is reading all the comments. Jo Jo thinks she can beat Maddie this week because she is doing tap. I hope Jo Jo wins, Mackenzie gets second and Maddie gets third. Abby barely noticed Jo Jo during her rehearsal.

Maddie us upset that Abby put her bumpit in Maddies hair. I hope it stays in for her solo. Her hair looks ridiculous.

Jo Jo’s solo was fantastic. Abby did the over her head clap which means she was pleased. Ha. Jo Jo just said, “Abby gave me the over the head clap!” So I guess the girls have picked up on that tell as well.

Mackenzie’s routine was more of a gymnastics floor exercise than a competition dance. It was packed with points though. So she will place high. Abby was THRILLED with it, giving the fully extended over the head clap and a WHOOOOOO! Abby said Mackenzie was close to perfection. She said it was GREAT!

Maddie’s tap dance was cute. But it was a tap dance. Abby loved it. It was good, but I wish Jo Jo could pull out a win.

The group dance was weird. And very different. The judges will either love it or hate it. I think since they are in LA they will probably win.

Jo Jo gets third place. Maddie got second place!!!! Mackenzie won first place! Melissa cries like a baby!  The group number took second place. Fuck.

Maddie is pissed that Mackenzie beat her. Maddies mutters that she should have one. Melissa tells Mackenzie to shut up!  Melissa doesn’t think Mackenzie deserved to win. Wow. Mackenzie finally beats Maddie and Maddie and her own mother are PISSED.

Maddie is the family cash cow, I guess that is why Melissa was not very happy with Mackenzies win?

I probably shouldn’t say this, but here goes. I’m glad Maddie didn’t get first place. She’s been top dog for too long. She needs to learn that her career will have ups as well as downs. She needs to learn how to lose gracefully. No one wants to work with a diva.

Nia has had to fight hard for recognition. So has Mackenzie. That will serve them well later.

I didn’t like the costumes either. The dance I liked it was different. So sick of remakes of Abby’s same choreography. But I guess it wins go figure. Jojo has really grown on me. I wish also she would get a few wins under her belt or some work offers just to piss Abby off. She is so mean to that girl. She’s a little spitfire though she gives it right back to Abby. Jojo and Nia may be Abby’s least favorites but it would be hard for her to hold either of their spirits down cause they both just shine!

When Abby made the dig about JoJo’s dad not making enough money, I was genuinely appalled. What rabid, disgraceful BEAST says that to a child??? The guest choreographer was exactly what the girls needed, encouraging, patient, calm and involved! Not sitting around stroking fake hair in a corner.

Melissa is the worst mother ever! Obviously her only concern is Maddie, poor Makenzie. She earned her win, and got the cold shoulder from her mom and sister! I could not believe Melissa CRIED, she is bat shit crazy! And that Sia video was disturbing!

During the group dance, Jojo BECAME the center of attention, despite Abby. She really has charisma.
Nia standing up to Abby was good. She’s growing in her confidence as well as her performance skills. She may not be the best dancer, but her poise and charm translates well – her intros for the repeat/resnark show showed that.
Melissa. Woof. America can now officially pinpoint the moment that Mackenzie will relive in her therapist’s office for years to come.
I’d be willing to watch a show with these girls and a different coach/mentor every few weeks, sans Abby. Itbwas interesting and entertaining to watch them learn something new and seem to have fun while doing so.

    1. Abby’s hair bonnet situation: wow. That thing got more air time than Jojo, Nia, and Kendall combined.
    2. Speaking of Kendall, did she even speak this episode?
    3. Nia’s remark to Abby during pyramid will unfortunately cost her. Eye roll.
    4. The guest choreographer seemed appalled by Abby as well. Clearly some takes of him in the corner with a face of confusion or disbelief did not go unnoticed.

Is Abby is such a good instructor or so famous that she is allowed to treat children in such a demeaning way? I love the pictures, really enjoy your blog

I am so very over Maddie and Melissa. And there is something wrong when a teacher makes her students cry. Anyone know any news concerning the lawsuit Kelly filed against Abby and the show? So curious how a court will feel about Abby and her teaching methods. Just like the remarks made to Jo Jo. Abby says a lot of uncalled for, down right mean comments to some of the girls. Someone needs to lock Abby in a room and tear her apart. And tell her she can’t cry.

I think there will be a out cry if a judge does nothing over the way that
Abby treated Paige, we all witnessed the chair indecent any many other things but that will just be about Paige. I think some thing needs to be done to help the girls. I dont think Mackenzie will need therapy as she is strong will and knows what disappointment is because of the dance world.
This is why she is now going to win more to prove Maddie is not unbeatable i believe that Mackenzie will set out to prove this and who is better to prove it but her own left behind sister her sweet revenge is just starting, go Mackenzie……………..

I can’t imagine a mom (at least a decent one) making a blatant difference in her children like Melissa does when it comes to dancing. It is more understandable in her sister Maddie, as maybe competitive jealousy, than with her Mom. Imo Abby shouldn’t be allowed to teach kids anything. She seems sort damaged in a twisted sort of way, therefore I don’t think it’s good for her to be around little kids. jmo.

Abby’s bumpit is the reason Maddie lost. Maddies hair looked weird. It looked like she had a reallllllly baaaaad haircut. She probably lost points just on that.

Points are rarely taken off for costumes, unless it’s appallingly atrocious (Maddie’s hair really wasn’t that bad). The tap dance just was not as good as other ones that she had done before and Kenzie’s dance was just better this time.

I barely recognize this show any longer. The mothers, who always appeared a bit deranged, are worse than Abby. Jill’s whiny voice, Holly’s constant anger, and Melissa’s defensiveness completely rob us from the joy of dance.
Two points, dance like gymnastics (of which I am intimately familiar), is a very expensive sport. Secondly, someone mentioned months ago that Jo Jo might have a hearing problem that is causing her speech problem. That appears more and more likely since she often remains a slight step behind in the dances.

I can’t believe how many grown people here cheer the kids’ disrespectful remarks and attitudes. Yeah. Great choreographer. They didn’t win. But…he coddled them so well. Melissa simply said that maddie’s performance was better than mackenzie’s. It probably was. I don’t know enough to understand how and why they get the scores they get. But she understands it. She was crying with joy. She was so happy for Mackenzie. But later when asked (by someone who probably shared the same opinion) she said that maddie’s should have won. Guess what? Maddie’s IS a much mor talented dancer than Mackenzie. And Jojo. By FAR. Nia is not even in the same league. Why do you all always need to ignore those simple facts? The notion that everyone should be treated equally is fucking retarded. And a lot of you go so far as to imply that those who are not as talented should be treated better than those who are. It is ridiculous. Just insane. And why millennials are such arrogant losers. I can’t imagine what this country will be like in 20 years.

Maddies tap routine was BLAH. Even Jo Jo knew Maddie had a beatable routine this week. Mackenzie beating Maddie doesn’t mean she is better than Maddie, it just means she scored better this week.

Dance competitions are not about who is the better dancer, if they were, there would be no point in entering any week that Maddie is in it. It’s about who is scored the highest based on choreography and execution.

If it was just about who I thought did the best job, I would have given it to Jo Jo with the Bow Bow and I used to hate her.

You hate deaf people. And black people and immature girls trying to play the “look how cute I am” card. That it your problem. You meanie mcmeanerpants.

Maddie’s tap routine was totally blah. I’m a huge fan of tap dance. The moves were not complex, the choreography was boring, Abby’s hair piece bouncing on top her head was terribly distracting and Maddie’s face throughout was just odd. I think she was shooting for sassy, but it came across as just odd and one note.

And you are right…dance competitions have very little to do with who is the better dancer. You can put on there a dance that moves you to tears and it might not win because it’s not packed with point-earning moves.

I don’t care how talented a dancer someone is, in a scored (non scripted) competition, its based on how well you danced that particular dance, THAT particular day, in front of those particular judges.
And from what we saw, Maddie deservedly did not win.
I question how winning competitions translates into being working dancers, which Abby claims is the goal (well, it WAS her goal. Now her goal is to have working children that she manages in any field, not just dancing). We’ve been told over and over that competition teams do not translate or equal to performing, so what’s the point in doing a lyrical number each week to get a trophy and a title if that doesn’t translate into being a working dancer?
and as far as Abbby’s style, yes. She’s abusive. I don’t care if because you or someone you know had a teacher like Abby and they did well that that automatically means that abusive teaching equals successful student. Abby went after children’s looks, children’s voices, parent’s money issues, children’s schooling, parent’s marital issues, etc. All of which had nothing to do with dance and had all to do with being an abusive c-nt satchel.

As an ex child dancer, I will tell you, Abby’s abusive tactics does not and will not ever reap success. Those girls will only be successful if they continue to use DM as a PR stepping stone only. This week Abby tried to show the other Moms, and viewers Maddie is versatile. She failed miserably. Maddie looked uncomfortable, her tap moves and positioning was very elementary, and her costume was go go dancer meets Jersey Mom, and I live in NJ. Sad. When we look at talent, Maddie is talented, yes, agreed, however, she is stuck has plateaued. I mean, how many Sia videos can you do, as well as, how many turns can you do. When she graduates from the child to teen category, in LA, not boon town NJ and PA, lets see if she really has what it takes. Don’t get me wrong, she can dance; but, she is limited by the same lyrical turns and those damn facial expressions. No pun, but they are maddening to watch each week. In terms of the group dance, Nia has improved tremendously. She was always weak, and we can all gripe with this comment, but she’s not the strongest. What will make her successful, is her ability to be a team player and strong loser; which she is. It does not mean she isn’t determined, she sure as hell is, it means talent agencies will want to work with her, because people like people who are easy to get along with. And, please don’t think I mean, people who will be taken advantage of. What I witnessed this week, was Maddie showing her true colours. Someone, who is frustrated and wants to break out from the mundane, but can’t, as well as, she was not genuinely happy for MacKenzie. I for one, cannot wait to see how she evolves. If Nia was given choreography similar to what the guest choreographer pulled together she will be more successful. A great teacher like any leader is able to see potential and talent, expand on it, and drive for success. Abby ALWAYS gives Nia, silly choreography, horrible costumes, and she is almost ALWAYS never prepared. If you take a look at the group dance again, and watch Nia, you will see how this style of dance showcases her talent. Of course, Mz. Abby is really just not interested in Nia’s growth, or anyone else’s for that matter. Only Maddie. Can’t wait until she is thirteen. Just can’t wait! I did not proof read this…ya! so what.

Watching dance moms first season and Maddie was a brat then and still is. So unfortunate for her as she will be a burn out by 18. I know she is 12 now because she is several months older than my granddaughter. She must be a very poor student as she is entering seventh grade and my younger granddaughter is entering eight.

Coming from someone who isn’t a Maddie fan: She has a late birthday, so she’s not a poor student. Different states have different cutoff dates for starting kindergarten. Some are as late as Jan 1 & some as early as August 31. Your younger granddaughter cannot be that much younger unless she skipped a grade, as no state has a cutoff later than Jan 1. Maddie was born at the end of sept, so she is at most 3 months younger. Most states have early September cutoff dates, so your granddaughter is just lucky to have been born in a state with a later date.
