Jacqueline Laurita’s House Finally Goes Into Foreclosure

It seems that Jac an Chris Laurita may FINALLY be evicted from their Franklin Lakes home. After two or more years of legal issues related to their alleged theft from Chris’ company for things like cars and private jets it seems it is finally time to pay the piper.

It’s bizarre to me how long it takes for people to actually get thrown out of their McMansions for not paying their mortgage. I first reported on this story in April of 2013 !  And the bank is just now filing for foreclosure?

According to Vicki Hyman of NJ.com:

Another “Real Housewives” star could be real house-less soon. Hudson City Savings Bank has filed papers in Bergen County Courthouse to foreclose on the Franklin Lakes home of Jacqueline and Chris Laurita. Another home owned by Chris Laurita, located in Wayne, is also being foreclosed upon.

RHONJjachowdareyou

The couple had placed the Franklin Lakes home on the market in January 2014 for $2.85 million, then dropped the price later that year to $2.78 million. The custom-built six-bedroom home on nearly two acres features ornate millwork, hand-painted murals in the dining room, a custom kitchen with a wine fridge, and a walk-out basement with playroom, wine cellar and an office.

According to the filing, Chris Laurita took out a $1.6 million mortgage in October 2007, with monthly payments of $10,846, but has not made made a payment since October 2014.

Court records also show that Nationwide is foreclosing on another home owned by Laurita — a four-bedroom Colonial in Wayne that he purchased in 2007 for $725,000, taking out a $525,000 mortgage.

I normally enjoy keeping you guys up to date on all the legal issues of the housewives, but Chris and Jac’s attorney is SO ABYSIMALLY BAD at writing motions, I just could not make heads or tails of it and finally gave up.

The short version is they were accused of using company funds to buy Louboutins and handbags and Chris’ partners in the company are holding them accountable for some misappropriated funds.

Jesus, those New Jersery housewives… And I think there is still a domino or two to fall…

I agree. Never did I see Jacqueline ‘relish’ in any of Teresa’s fraudulent ways. I do remember the Reunion though, when Jacqueline finally lost it on Teresa. That entire Joe getting caught screwing some chick on his desk. Damn it! I hate it when that happens…Still. Nothing about her ongoing legal crap.

Who cares if someone “relished” over another’s legal issues? That doesn’t make their problems justifiable, as in karma. What does is simply that they overspent in an obnoxious way that they couldn’t afford. This whole “Tre” thing has nothing to do with it. If it does, it is because all of them (shallow, stupid friends and neighbors) were under the moronic delusion that they were wealthy, and hand the smarts/work ethic/trust fund to make it happen. Not.

psst the Lauritas allegedly funneled money out of a business for personal use. That’s not “simply overspending” that’s “stealing” allegedly.

Because the Guidices were dumb enough to fuck with government agencies.

I’m JUST ASSUMING that Chris acted as an officer or director for a corporation and misappropriated funds which is rarely criminal.

I mean the board of directors of Citibank and JP Morgan headed a nearly decade long, Industry wide currency manipulation scheme and got a slap on the wrist and a fine which equaled to about a percent of the billions they stole.

To quote my favorite poet (Charles Bukowski) again:

“How in the hell could a man enjoy being awakened at 6:30 a.m. by an alarm clock, leap out of bed, dress, force-feed, shit, piss, brush teeth and hair, and fight traffic to get to a place where essentially you made lots of money for somebody else and were asked to be grateful for the opportunity to do so?”

Microop, I’m not trying to be disrespectful to you at all but you and lots of commenters state that sadly the children will have to suffer. Do you mean by being embarrassed by their parents’s actions? Either that or the fact that their parents haven’t taught them that most times what you have comes from hard work, being honest, and having morals.

Now, they may not be able to have everything they want handed to them on a silver platter. They may not get the latest electronic gadgets, the most expensive clothing and shoes, most lavish parties or even a bedroom just for them. I don’t see that as such a bad thing. In other words, they may have to live like the majority of the rest of us who aren’t rich and famous or criminal but I don’t see this as a sad thing for the children.

The parents did their kids a disservice by letting them become accustomed to a lifestyle that the parents cannot maintain legally. Hopefully these kids are still young enough and someone teaches them the things of real value in life.

I think it must be difficult to see your parents have (justifiable) legal problems. When I was young I looked to my parents as being the moral compass to my world, and I think it would have been traumatic to learn they were frauds.

Also losing your home because a parent lost a job is much different then losing your home because your parents were overspending then stealing to try and continue covering up their overspending. On top of that they chose to be public figures, which the children didn’t ask for. And marriages suffer during periods of high stress, likely making the home a pretty unhappy environment to be in right now, especially given Jacs questionable mental stability. Why is it so bad to sympathize with the children? I’m not at all saying that the Lauritas shouldn’t pay the price, I’m just demonstrating some empathy for their kids. The trauma of this event has much wider reaching impacts then just losing some gadgets and a big home. If that was all it was, like dad got laid off, then yes the kids would be fine.

Microop, again I say I mean no disrespect to you in what I’m saying. I guess I’m not only referring to the Lauritas but the Guidices as well. I am sure that it is a stressful time in their households and that their parents are upset but in both of these situations these families will probably not end up homeless and destitute. Seems like RHONJ is waiting on Tre to get out of jail to begin taping and Jacqeline and her family are not being criminally charged and will probably land on their feet somewhere in maybe a smaller house. The children I feel sorrier for are the ones you mentioned in your post. The ones whose father has been laid off who will loose their homes and become homeless, the children who do have parents who have moral compasses that through no fault of their own find themselves in situations beyond their control. Neither the children of the Lauritas/Guidices or the children of parents who through circumstances lost their homes asked to be there. I guess I just feel more sympathy for the later.

Ok I hear what you are saying, and I certainly feel sorry for children whose parents have been laid off, especially if they end up homeless that is the most horrifying situation of all. But I guess I feel like yes it is worse but they still have the fortune of loving and respecting their parents. If I found out my parents were frauds and felons I would resent them, and resenting your parents come with some complexities and perhaps some self hatred. I don’t feel sorry for Jac or Chris at all. They are different circumstances. And I guess I feel bad for all not just one specific kind.

My understanding is, their CREDITORS alleged the theft of company assets after they declared bankruptcy. The brother/partner was sued also. The bankruptcy trustee then investigated. Pretty much exactly the situation of the Giudices. Bankruptcy fraud, which is criminal.

No partner has sued them. I could be wrong, but that’s what I remember.

In my former life, I was a Bankruptcy/Foreclosure Specialist at a bank. From my experience, I can tell you that it takes a HELLA long time to foreclose on a property. From the actual time it takes for the property to go INTO foreclosure (usually 120-150 days) to the filings from the bank attorneys, I’ve seen foreclosures take 2+ years to facilitate. Banks will make every last ditch reasonable effort to not foreclose on a property because they lose a ton of money in the process.

Good point teecee66. In my understanding the recent foreclosure crisis hit poor people the hardest. Maybe “poor” is a strong word? How about folks with “modest” incomes? People who were bamboozled by the variable interest rates and such in their quest to eat themselves a slice of that fronting-for-people-you-can’t-stand-but-still-feel-compelled/obligated-to-impress American pie. That ridiculous desire to feel that you’ve made something of yourself, even though nobody really gives a sheet (including you), feeling.

That’s complete bullshit. Bamboozled??? No. People thought they like get something for nothing and took as much advantage as possible. Unless you are mentally retarded, you can’t be bamboozled by a process that requires SO MUCH documentation and so many signatures. Somewhere in our country’s past someone decided that homeownership was some kind of right instead of a privilege to be EARNED. Parenthood, too. That’s fucking bullshit. You spread your legs and popped out six kids and you have no job? Tough shit. Institutionalize the kids and get a fucking job to earn them back.

I had a few, although not a large number in that price range. My portfolio was in the Hudson Valley of New York State, with some in upstate New York, and a couple in Connecticut. In the HV region of NYS, which is “the Burbs” of NYC (60-90 miles North and West of the city) there are lots of really wealthy people. Lots of actors/actresses own vacation homes in this area because they get privacy and they are not too far from the city to commute. Many do summer stock in the HV Region.

Anyway, the length of time it takes to foreclose on a home in the million $ range versus a $300K range is the same. The same laws apply to each mortgage holder and the same laws of foreclosure apply as well.

I will say what USUALLY got most of these people in trouble was not the mortgage payments but the TAXES for these properties. Taxes on the homes in those areas are ridiculous. Especially New Jersey. In some cases some of the monthly tax payments were equal to or higher than the mortgage payments themselves and they just get in way too deep, living way beyond their means.

2+ years to foreclose is not unheard of at all and is a relatively average amount of time.

Very sorry that you have what appears to be a deep seated, and possibly racist, hatred of poor, uneducated people who had the nerve to procreate and fuck up this glorious country, leaving a smaller slice of the pie for the likes of you. re: the ringtone…
That’s pretty fricking funny! I’m sure you can find that again, if you search long enough.
Too bad we aren’t in the same city. I could make that ringtone for you.
If you have an iPhone, making ringtones is pretty simple.

Sorry, but I don’t take joy in any family losing their house. I agree that they are over zealous with the huge homes, but it’s still a place where they raised (some) of their children. I wish them the best.

Certainly if a family loses its house because someone lost a job, got sick or just had some bad luck, I would feel sorry for them. But these assholes stole money and still didn’t pay their ridiculous mortgage. No sympathy for those who live beyond their means and steal to maintain that lifestyle.
Never liked Jackie. A horrible mother, bad sister in law and awful friend. Loser all around.

They all live beyond their means and now Kathy is building a mansion, way to big for her family. The kids are older so they will leave the nest soon. She will be next. We are selling the house it’s just too much house for just Rich and I.

Perhaps they’ll move back into Carolyn’s basement with aunt Fran and the pigs, goats and chickens. I liked Jaq until she couldn’t stop crying.

What is it with these Wives and crying? Some of them are chronic eye-leakers. Jacqueline, Kandi, Bethenny. It’s like almost every franchise has it’s representative for the DWP.

I feel bad for her youngest son. I am sure change will be hard for him. Hope Caroline takes them in.

I don’t much like Jacqueline, but she was dedicated to her autistic son, and he seemed to be making progress.. I hope she keeps working with him and communicating with other parents of autistic children. That seemed to be her calling.

It’s hard to know. I also thought that Chris was such a nice guy, and I guess I was wrong about that.

    Morning TT!
I am totally with you re your last sentence! I also believe there may be another domino falling… My gut has been telling me that the Gorogas are next..I can’t lose the gut feeling that M+J Gorga have been “looked” at which I believe is making M more cautious. My belief is they helped with Tre going to “college”. I know Tre committed a crime & is guilty! There are just more people involved that we know of.

Gorga’s better hope that next season’s paycheck comes soon. I still can’t believe Kathy is building that unnecessary house… The fact that she was slightly more humble than the others was her saving grace. No way in this world are they ever going to be able to pay that sucker off.

that’s such a shame, I really liked jacqueline. Why can’t these people have the sense to live within their means? To be saddled with massive debt like this for life, then have to lose your home all to have a bigger/better place for a period of time, just seems crazy to me.

It is ridiculous to overspend the way these people do. If you can afford it because you worked hard that’s terrific, if not and especially if you are a parent you should be ashamed of yourselves for putting your family in jeopardy of being homeless just because you refuse to live within your means. Don’t know how these folks sleep at night?
