Dance Moms Recap: Live From L.A. It’s Kendall K !

Dance Moms Platinum

Dance Moms is finally moving to L.A. but they are still not in Abby’s Studio. The girls and moms go into the studio and find Abby muttering to herself about earrings. She is not wearing any and just can’t work without earrings. Why is Abby like legit crazy every time they are in L.A.  Abby is disheveled and sits down with a giant handbag and begins pulling stuff out, bags full of snacks, papers, eventually she dumps the entire purse out onto the studio floor. Change rolls everywhere, it amazing all of the crap that is in that purse.

Pyramid was interesting only in that Nia was very close to the top and Abby complimented her on her performance.

Abby announces the she will probably not go to the competition because she is too busy. She gives solos to Kalani, Nia and Kendall.  Still not willing to let Maddie go up against the L.A. girls, Abby?  Kendall also has a video premier tomorrow. Dance Moms Nia video

Nia is the lead in the group dance. That is nice. But the group dance is called Shame on You or something similar and the premise is that Nia is a traitor who is trying to lure the rest of the team away from Abby. That is not nice.

Remember when Abby said she got throw out by production at a competition and didn’t come back for a week? I am starting to think Abby is on drugs and production removed her because of legal concerns especially around the kids.  Her moods are all over the place.

During Kendall’s solo practice Kendall cries because of some sort of foot pain and Abby yells at her to suck it up. Kendall is limping. Jill gives Kendall another “suck it up” speech.

It is time for Kendall’s video premier. One of the things that was so great about Nia’s video premier in Australia was that she was so confident and seemed to have zero issues with nerves. That is not the case for Kendall. She looses like she is walking to the gallows and Abby is her executioner.

Young people can’t clap anymore because they always have one hand full of phone.

Kendall’s video is not anywhere near as good as Nia’s. The song is fine. The military theme is bad and seems almost disrespectful in some ways. The song and the military theme have nothing in common. Kendall does a lengthy solo dance at the end. There really is not much singing involved. Kendall did not sing live at all.

Nia’s solo dance is called Master of Disguise to a drum beat with no lyrics. It’s another jab at Nia she wears two masks during the routine. The implication is that Abby thinks Nia is two-faced.

Nia and Kendall bout have props required in their dances, and yet there are no props. So they are rehearsing with no props.

Kalani has a beautiful costume, Nia is wearing a blue condom as a costume, and Kendall’s costume is missing entirely. Somehow this is Abby’s fault. I thought the whole purpose of being a Dance Mom was to bring all the costumes and supplies for their kid.

Kalani’s dance was shown first. She did fine, it was just like all of her other dances, it had a lot of acrobatics. Kalani seems a bit thicker than she was for the first half of the season. Kalani actually forgot her dance and just did another solo on the fly.

Nia’s solo was fine. It was a tribal type thing just like every other solo she does. She had no time to practice with the masks and had issues with both of them. One came off too soon and the other would not come all the way off her head and just sort of bounced around. She was a trouper though and didn’t let on that it was a problem.

Kendall could not dance because she had no costume. That is Jill’s fault as far as I am concerned.

The group dance was okay. It was different from the usual ones featuring Maddie. I didn’t think Nia was that great in her lead role. It was kind of clunky.

Nia took 5th in the teen category for her solo.  Kalani took first with her solo. I have no idea why. The group dance took first place as well.

Abby tells Kira this long, long story about how she was up sick all night. She had ten tons of complaints. She was incoherent. She has to be on something, right?

Yes, I agree. I’m glad someone said it first. LOL When she was dumping out her purse on the floor I wondered if the guys in white coats would be walking in soon to take her away. With Abby’s disheveled look (crooked and messy lipstick, wild hair, missing makeup) so many times while in LA and her cra-cra behavior, I’ve asked myself the same question – many times, and the only thing I can think of is that she’s on something…

Or Abby is not taking her meds. I almost wonder if she is bi-polar. Certainly she suffers from SUMS syndrome. Sudden Ugly Mood Swings- a common disorder in reality TV. I think Kilani has chunked up a little because she is getting ready to grow a few inches.
Kendall’s video was a flop. No wonder Jill was so upset about Nia’s video. Holly was smart by having someone other than Abby produce it. Kendall’s smacks of an amateur production shot with an i phone. Even Gia’s video looked and sounded better than Kendall K’s.

if Abby isn’t on something she certainly has looked just shy of a complete nervous breakdown all season. The half eaten cookie and fingernails in her spilled out purse made me sick, absolutely disgusting. Given all the nasty things she has had to say about lifetime and production lately I would say the breakdown is still going on, they need to get her help.

This production crew hates Abby. The edit is getting worse. The crazy train is coming to the editing room constantly to make sure it boards Abby Lee Miller on full display for the audience.

The bag scenes were disturbing and the moms seemed eager to expand on their opinions on the matter. I can not believe this woman is that big of a maniac.
The phone call at the end also seemed choppy and horribly sewn together for the lunacy to continue of her rambling on and on and leaving the phone on the table.
Are we really buying all this crap?

Abby is not that good an actress, nor is she able to mask her emotions that well, for it to be faked. Even if “ENHANCED” by production, none of the audience think it is outside the realm of possibility for to behave this way.
Im betting that she was able to handle the limited amount of fame she had as a regionally successful dance instructor, but once she became ABBY, and once she no longer had her mother to reign her in/disapprove, her psyche crumbled.
Drugs, mental breakdown, or simply Louise Lasser levels of extreme solipsism, its clear something is very very wrong with Abby Lee Miller.

Xanadude, being a loyal watched of this show since season one, when she fell off the cookoos nest in her previous trips to LA I was convinced she’d lost her marbles and had finally cracked. I too, thought she was unstable enough to always lead to this point.

This specific episode seemed really over the top in the lunacy department however. I began to have doubts. Holly, Jill, and Melissa have been with this woman for years and although they are pretty crappy reality stars, they still have shown concern for her through out the years. This episode turned into a mockery of Abby by everyone.

Was it just me feeling this confused even by the while cast?

I feel sorry for Kendall. She’s stuck in a 50 year old woman’s vision of what teens will think is cool.
The video was not good (and frankly reads more of a parody of The Simpsons Party Posse video – Yvan Eht Nioj – than a real video), and its a song that CAN’T EVER be sung live. It can’t even be lip synced live. I challenge an experienced drag queen to lip sync it, let alone a young teenager. The song consisted of four sentences repeated ad nauseum and a few dance orders repeated in hopes it becomes a thing, and it won’t.
The insistence of branding these kids with “hep” names ending with a letter again goes back to Abby thinking she knows what 12 great old girls relate to. She doesn’t.
By comparison Nia, not under Abby, had her talent and personality ENHANCED, rather than stifled by Abby.

Both Kendall & Nia are talented. Kendall is the stronger competition dancer and Nia is the stronger performer/entertainer. When it comes to the videos Nia’s is definitely the best. I think Kendall’s video was made to appeal to the very young dance moms fans and the song does not suit her. I blame Abbey for this! Nia’ s was made to appeal to more ages and looks like a video you could see playing on TV. I even downloaded star of your own life remix as its a good work out song.

Does she still have a man in LA? Maybe the something she is on is dick.

Nia sucked as usual. Kalani’s mom has the worst/best case of resting bitch face ever!! Holly is an insufferable twat. She has taken over the role of the blond with the big nose. cloe’s mom. Everything out of her mouth is negative or super fake. They really don’t have to be there. If you don’t like it or her, leave. Don’t get me started on jessalynn. God what a miserable, negative, poor excuse for a parent she is.

I noticed last night how beautiful Jill is. Not sure why I hadn’t noticed before. She’s very smart and seems sane. Her daughter seems happy and nice. Melissa is like a nervous chihuahua. I think she does right by her girls. But I’m not sure she has her own life. I guess we actually know zero about most of them so I should t act like I know them. But Melissa’s tics and scared look makes her seem like she should be in a cage staring out sad eyed whilst Sarah MacGlaughlin sings a sad song. She seems abused.

I’ve always liked Jill. It’s hard to get a grasp on the moms personalities because they are clearly assigned roles each season. I think Holly’s aggressiveness this season is all an act for the show.

I appreciate Jill because she does nothing to mask her ambition. She will do anything at any given time, even contradict herself within a given conversation, to further her daughters career. Not someone I would want to be around, but its refreshing when compared to The others who pretend to care what the others think and do.

      Ditto to your comments.

How has Holly descended from a well-educated professional to THIS ugly portrait of an deranged stage mother who is clueless about dance? Is that for real or fake?? I loved her no-nonsense approach to Abby in the beginning and her resolution to be present when and if her schedule allowed it. (Directors MUCH prefer you to drop off your kid and get out of the way, but I know that doesn’t work for this show!) And I want to scream every time I read someone comment on what a talented dancer Nia is. Uh no and no. Lovely and sweet girl, but her future lies elsewhere.

I take most of the show with a grain of salt since it has become so obviously fake and staged, but what they have shown of Abby this season is either a joke or alarming – I’m not sure which.

And yes to Jill being pretty – it’s easy to see where Kendall gets her looks. What a beautiful girl!

Sorry, Xanadude. I danced. My sister danced. My daughter REALLY danced, including spending summers with ABT NY and Houston Ballet, training in their facilities. This show drives me insane. I cannot watch someone dance with bent legs, shoulders up to their ears, and unpointed toes on a consistent basis and pretend they’re a good dancer! Oh, and those rocky transitions and spacing issues aargh Nia is very pretty and does have a good stage presence. Maybe acting will be her forte?

Tee Cee – an educator with a PhD! I cannot fathom leaving her job to be dragged around the country on a (fake?) dance show. She threw away all those years of hard work for THIS? I don’t get it.

Until she started law school two years ago, my daughter used to watch the show with me. Interestingly, she usually sided with Abby LOL She was in a high-level ballet studio dancing six days a week, though, and it was totally no nonsense. If she still had time for reality TV, I doubt she would still be watching Dance Moms now that it’s become so unbelievable.

Ya, I know. Sorry – it was only a matter of time before I got on my soap box. One too many “Nia is the best dancer of the group” comments made me do it. BUT ballet is the foundation for all dance. so any young dancer should take it seriously enough to master the basic techniques so they can do well in any form of dance.

Of all the things that were disturbing about this episode, at least one thing came out that we can now all agree on needed to be emphasized: Abby ADMITTED she doesn’t choreograph the kids, doesn’t instruct the kids, and has little to do with them outside of being their manager – and that the situation would only be highlighted with the LA move.
TT- has there ever been another reality show lead that so openly warred with production and was given such a..shall we say..”more honest” edit (I hesitate to say “bad edit,” because she gave them the material). I can think that the second season of Rocco DiSpirito’s The Restaurant comes close – in addition to the fake waiters being called out on camera, Rocco’s inexperience/incompetence/arrogance being highlighted, and the heavily implied throughout that season idea he was on drugs – but any other come to mind?

And another thing (yeah, this episode got me riled up) – how dare Abby criticize Nia’s styling, clothing, and dance moves in her video while doing the same thing in Kendall’s. If it’s was inappropriate or unsuitable for Nia, why was it okay for Kendall?
It goes back to the fact that Abby has Nia pidgeonholed as a “type.”

I still think Abby had weight-loss surgery, which can really screw up how your body metabolizes medicine. My armchair medical diagnosis — weight-loss surgery is screwing with her meds (anxiety/depression/something) and she’s completely unstable. Think Jesse Jackson Jr. during his implosion. He had the same situation. It’s really hard to prescribe meds to someone who has had weight-loss surgery because they aren’t metabolized they way they are in others, so the results are unpredictable.

Considering that Abby was bitching about Nia’s video making Nia “look too old” (not that she has a problem with Maddie wearing a nude suit and dancing with a man in a cage), yet she dolled up Kendall in short shorts, took a stab at the military (at a time when the military is trying to stop MST [military sexual trauma] and show women as professional and not sex objects), made Kendall look sleazy and a non talent with all the auto tuning. Plus it was a rip off for the kids there, at least Nia performed live and can sing. I often feel like Jill sees star and $$$ whenever she looks at Kendall.
