I don’t know if I am really liking this season better than the first one, or if it’s just because I watch it after Kandi’s Ski Trip, and it just seems great in comparison or if it really is good this season. But I am looking forward to tonight’s show.
Melyssa
Arzo and boyfriend drop by Melyssa’s place. Melyssa has an eyebrow specialist there to do brows. Arzo tells Melyssa that Geneva called Greg a bitch on the way to the Hamptons. Arzo is such a little bitch ass herself. Both Arzo and Melyssa are over Geneva. Melyssa can’t wait to run to Demetria.
Demetria
Demetria had a dress made for her wedding. But she fell in love with another dress last week at the bridal shoot. She is trying to get it altered in time for the wedding in three weeks. The dress is between $28,000-$32,ooo but the designer comps the dress to her for promotional consideration.
Melyssa and Arzo tell Demetria about Geneva calling Greg a bitch ass. Really? What are we twelve? Melyssa seems to hate Geneva. Melyssa is really trying to flame the fires. She wants Demetria to dump Geneva permanently.
Mica
We start with Mica and her new boyfriend Kevin. She is debating taking it to the next level. She asks Kevin if it is okay if they get tested before having sex. I had no idea you could buy HIV tests over the counter now. Back in the day, you had to go to a clinic and wait two weeks while you are convinced that you have full blown AIDS and will die before the test comes back. That’s one bad thing about the 80’s. Wow apparently now you just swipe your gums with a pad and you find out right away? How much are these because my OB/GYN tests for HPV and HIV with every annual. I don’t need that shit.
Later, Mica’s mother calls to let her know her grandmother fell. Mica was just there to see her grandmother just a few shows ago. Then in a later scene we see Mica getting ready to go home because her grandmother has passed away. Mica was very, very close with her grandmother. Mica lost her sister, then her dad on last season of the show and now her grandmother. That’s a lot to deal with.
Daisy
Daisy is finishing up her radiation. She wants to hold a prayer vigil for herself to infuse some positive energy after the trip to the Hamptons. Daisy wants both of her parents there at the same time. They are divorced and are “cordial” for the benefit of supporting Daisy. Daisy is a daddy’s girl but she also wants her mother with her.
Daisy’s daddy comes to go with her to the radiologists. He asks if her treatments have been effective. The doctor is cautiously optimistic. Her dad is having a hard time with her illness. Daisy is so upbeat. It is really impressive. Daisy has found all the positive of her situation in that it has brought her family together.
Daisy’s mother comes for the prayer vigil. Daisy’s mom is very emotional. She feels out of the loop on what is going on with Daisy. Daisy shows her mother her bald head. It actually looks great. She shaved it bald and it is growing back in nicely. I’ve seen much worse situations especially when people are resistant to shaving so there are bald clumps everywhere.
Daisy is so thrilled that both of her parents are at an event together. Sadly Mica had to miss the event to go to her grandmother’s funeral. Demetria sent regrets. The prayer vigil was lovely. Both Daisy and her father acknowledged all of the people there and their own battles they are facing. Geneva’s aunt passed away and she had just found out. So she was hurting. The prayer was not just for Daisy but for everyone. They each light a candle and say something nice. Lots of the girls are crying. Geneva misses her aunt and says how much she appreciates the positive energy in the room. Chantelle’s candle won’t stay lit. Make of that what you will. Daisy’s dad breaks down at the end.
Next Week is the Season Finale! Dayum, I feel like we were just getting started! Demetria’s wedding is the final event. Melyssa is not invited? Demetria and Melyssa are supposedly the closest of any of the women outside the show. And Geneva gets arrested. Also someone leaves in an ambulance. It appears that the arrest happens on the finale cruise of the season. You can read about what happened here.
I loved Daisy’s short hair! I thought she looked absolutely regal! Melyssa wasn’t invited to the wedding?
I agree Daisy looks good with super short hair – the shape of her head is pretty … looked way better than the wigs
I know. I hope she sticks with the short hair and ditches the wigs altogether. I am so tired of seeing all of these ladies in wigs and weaves. Let your natural beauty show for a change.
When my best friend developed Leukemia we went to the salon and she got her long, gorgeous blonde hair cut super short before the chemo and radiation. She went bald shorty thereafter, and it’s weird to say but she looked so elegant and beautiful and made her smile even more dazzling.
forgot to say I am confused again about when “real life” events happened relative to filming – I could have sworn that in the first episode, Geneva was moving in to a new apartment and referred to the arrest, but previews for next week show the arrest?! I don’t get it …
It’s a different arrest for a different incident I believe. Geneva has been very busy.
This is her SECOND arrest.

i thought it was funny when, at the end of the segment between Chantelle and the dog talent scout (?), Chantelle says something like “so when can we expect a call from you?”, to which the lady says something like “why don’t you give me a call when your dog has had some training” LMAO
Reading your recap of Daisy made me cry. I will be sending my own prayers for her. Lovely job TT. Cancer really really sucks.
I thought for sure when the designer said the dress cost 28-32 she meant hundred, not thousand. Is it really possible that a basic short TAN dress with tulle tacked on could cost $30,000? #SayNoToTheDress
Um, yes.

They can cost that much, but I have pulled from that shop before & that gown should be in the $3000+/- category, which is on the highest end of Andrea’s price points . Once you move out of Brooklyn & start getting into double digit gowns in Manhattan, that’s when we get into couture territory, like Zuhair Murad blah blah blah. I love a beautiful gown as much as anyone, but I swear I’ve never understood the appeal of super expensive wedding gowns unless you have a VAST expense account to care for it afterwards…just to have the ability to preserve the damn thing I couldn’t be bothered. Once you start getting into opulently priced gowns, they really need to be preserved with the same care you would archive a piece of art. At work for me it’s normal, but IRL at my house ain’t nobody got time or finances to be worried about air purification, temperature controls, and breathable bags. I say if you’re living in a 1 bedroom in Brooklyn you need to get the $3000 dress and keep it moving, lol!
Yeah there’s no freaking way it was 30K. Dresses of course can cost that much but that’s like custom made couture levels. Even for well known bridal designers the average would probably be 5-15K. So yeah, I’m pretty sure she meant $2800-3200.
Tamara, when I visited ATL last summer I swear I saw HIV tests at a Dollar Tree in North Atlanta (Dunwoody area?) They were right next to pregnancy tests & tinkle tests for marijuana. I think my reaction was almost the same as yours above, lol.
I’ve never seen them, but I’ve never looked. I’m mostly mad that I have been being charged for one every year. Or maybe HIV isn’t one of the tests anymore. I know HPV is. I think it is great they are OTC now. Back in the day, they would not even give you results without coming in in case you had HIV because they were worried you would freak out and kill yourself or something. Now suddenly we can just find out alone in our bathrooms. Interesting. The medical field is such a racket.
Oh and now that Obamacare is here we suddenly DON’T need mammograms every year. Or pap smears. It can be once every three years now. How convenient. Were they lying then or are they lying now?

“Were they lying then or are they lying now?” Ha ha! Both. I went with my mother for a breast cancer screening a couple weeks ago. For my mom, not me. She had found a small lump. Thank goodness it turned out to be nothing, just a little calcium deposit. Needless to say my mom was scared shitless. She thought that her endometrial cancer could somehow affect her breasts. It can’t. The mammography and ultrasound cost a bunch. And she has medicare!
Yes, dammit. The whole thing is a racket. I don’t want to offend anyone, but I’ve hear horrible things about Susan G. Komen. Horrible! They seem to be very good at making a lot of money by scaring people.
Good lord, I’m glad to hear your mom is okay! My eldest sister also had endometrial issues and we do live a little bit scared hoping nothing else will happen as a result of that.
No, from what I was told by my mother’s doctors endometrial cancer is supposed to be one of those that’s “easy” to cure. You get a hysterectomy and call it a day. The prognosis is supposed to be pretty good, especially if you catch it early. Again, I’m not a doctor, but this is what I’ve been told. And we asked the breast cancer screening people if endometrial cancer could heighten the chance of other kinds popping up, because we’re paranoid. They answered with a firm, unequivocal no.
Also, here’s an interesting tidbit: My mother’s a smoker. When they told her she had endometrial cancer she asked the doctor if her smoking could have caused it. The doctor (Mormon, no less) said no, and that actually smoking has been shown to either prevent endometrial cancer, or slow it’s progression significantly if you do get it. WOW! A doctor admitting that smoking is good for something. You could’ve knocked me over with a feather.
I thought Daisy looked really beautiful with her natural & very short hair. It’s not a look many women can pull off, but I think she can
I WISH I could pull off short hair like that, you definitely have to have the right head size and bone structure for it…which I totally DO NOT #igottabasketballhead
so according to next week… melyssa was not invited to the wedding?? she made such a big deal about being invited. Ugh cant keep up. Cant belive the finale is next week. seems so short, but maybe they should keep all shows this short
When Melyssa and Arzo were sitting with Demetria trying to make her hate Geneva, Arzo said something to D like, “Well if Geneva is not invited and that frees up a spot, consider this one.” apparently referring to Melyssa. I thought I must have heard that wrong because D doesn’t even know Arzo and she has been friends with Melyssa for years before the show. It made no sense and I thought it was bad editing. Then at the end of the last episode it sounded like Arzo saying the wedding was beautiful and she wished Mel could have been there.

The season might have been shortened due to Geneva hitting Melyssa with an object. Daisy looked so beautiful showing her natural hair. She had a different look from when wearing wigs. Arzo didn’t put Geneva’s comments in proper perspective; furthermore, Geneva was having a conversation on her cell, not talking to Arzo. Arzo is dangerous!
I liked the way Demetria handled the information given to her by Arzo, as well as the instigating of Melyssa. It showed that she has her own mind when it comes to how she views others and their actions. Good for her for not taking the bait. Melyssa….girrrl what happened to your reasonableness? You were my girl last season. Geneva….she didn’t get on my nerves as much this season as she did last season. I’m still not there with her yet though. I loved Daisy with short hair. She looked so cute! The others….meh! Oh yeah… Micah’s scene looked so fake. I hated it. It came off like a PSA instead of something genuine.
This is one of the reasons I like Demetria. What some people see as cold is her measuring her responses and not flying off the handle. Sometimes, one needs to count to ten silently before reacting and with this group, she might need to do it a lot. With Daisy, she does not want to come off like they are closer than they are but she wanted to communicate that she is there for her. #Can’twinnomatterwhat
By the way, I wish reality shows were like this. Real friendships, issues and less contrived b.s.
Can you tell me why she didn’t like Daisy previously? What did she do to her?
They do not know each other very well, but Demetria had issues with Mica being loud and drunk at one of her events last season, Daisy and Melyssa took issue with the way Demetria handled it. Things got worse after that. She has tried to make amends with everyone this season even before finding out about Daisy’s illness but did not want to overstep. At least, that’s how I saw it. My personality is pretty similar to hers at least with new people.
Ugh I don’t know if it was just the wine but this episode had me so emotional. Everything with Daisy just had me tearing up the entire time. She and I are the same age and I couldn’t imagine going through something like that. I just find her courage and positivity so touching and inspirational. I really hope she made a full recovery and is doing better now.
