Just throwing some news of the week up here for you, in cased you missed it.
In the above, soon to be viral video, Mykel Lewis, an 11 year old fifth grade student at University Heights Intermediate in Jonesboro, Arkansas belted out the notes to I Will Always Love You. Mykel’s performance was so impressive, in fact, that a construction crew working inside the building stopped to cheer for him. Mykel has a dream of performing on America’s Got Talent and The Ellen DeGeneres Show. There is no doubt we will see him on both very soon.
Cruise Ship Disaster in China “The boat, carrying 456 passengers and crew members, capsized Monday night in a storm, and officials say the ship may have been hit by a tornado. Only 14 people survived, including the ship’s captain, who remains in custody.”
World Leaders Meet in Germany (Without Putin) “The G7 meeting has proved to be a magnet for left-wing protest movements, attracting anti-capitalists, environmental activists, pro-refugee groups and many more.”I’m protesting because the big financial corporations have too much influence over politics,” said 50-year-old Thomas Schmidbauer.”We could organize our economies much better for the people.”

Will American Pharoah Win the Triple Crown? “American Pharoah seeks to become the first winner of the U.S. Triple Crown in nearly four decades when he takes on seven rivals in the $1.5 million Belmont Stakes later on Saturday.”
Hero Bus Driver Saves Kidnapped 3-year Old “A man who kidnapped a 3-year-old boy from the Milpitas Public Library on Friday was arrested an hour later after an alert bus driver spotted the two on his bus, ending a terrifying ordeal, police said.”
So what’s going on in your neck of the woods this weekend? I just burned the fuck out of my dinner listening to the kid sing the Whitney Houston song TWICE while toasting a bagel. It’s beautiful out and I am just sort of out of it today. I’m just letting myself be lazy and do nothing. I should probably water the tomatoes soon, but with all the rain and more in the forecast I may skip that too.
Banjo is over being mad at me for not having anything special to add to his kibble last night. And the Cardinals are outside my window being very tentative about the burnt everything bagel in the little pan I sit on top of my hedges to attract the birds with sunflower seeds and such. It’s a good lazy day. I have no guilt over this day of doing nothing.
How bought you guys?
We have seen ad heard a multitude of people cover Dolly Partin’s song, but this is one of the best we’ve heard. To think that an eleven year old has that vocal stability and strength!
Why does my nose run so much when I’m cold!? Sitting here with my heating pad and trying to be warm…husband keeps it meatlocker cold!
What a darling boy and a wonderful singer.
OMG Y’all
Someone just sent me this! Monday, June 8th 12:37 PM on the Turner Movie Chanel this will be showing:
My Tomato (1943)
Robert Benchley short films are always good, and this is no exception. Amusing story of a wartime man deciding to grow tomatoes in his garden and the trials and tribulations of that process.
OMG OMG OMG! I hope it all works out for him. He is the pioneer of our struggles! Let’s watch!
I need to see if this is on Netflix!
The video was lovely. Very talented to be so young. I have often wondered how much money Dolly Parton has made from that song over the decades.
Approximately eleventy billion dollars.
And that is just ONE of her songs.

I want to go see the movie about Brian Wilson, but I don’t want to put on a bra and dress up. I think I’ll grill some thin sliced pork and make mango salsa and we’ll have tacos and watch a Netflix movie.
Keep a bag of kitty treats for Banjo to sprinkle on his kibble.
Like any NORMAL DAWG he is not interested in kitty treats. Stupid cat people offer them to him all the time. He wants no part. He is a real DAWG.
He wants organic beans, some organic canned dog food or today like a fifth of a slice of over cooked bacon mixed in. He’s quite particular.

A FIFTH of a slice? Aren’t you the generous one. I bet it was blackened…
It was. HE DOES NOT GET TO EAT BACON.
Except the third of a slice I gave him earlier.
You can’t give him much he is uppity enough. Best not to let him know what is out there.

Dog food has low taurine an essential amino acid cats need. They will go blind with out it.
Don’t do it! Weekend bra’s should be illegal! Weapons of torture ‘re prohibited! Or they should be! Relax, be comfortable and enjoy the tacos!!!
I bought some cheap fat chick “sports bras” for lack of a better term. They’re really boob tubes with straps. It’s enough to keep shit from flopping around at the ghetto convenience store without actually trussing the girls up.
I’m also buying the occasional $5 scratch off in the #23 slot now that it is my birthday season. So hopefully I’ll forget all about you low lives once I win enough to buy my private island.

I’d like to counter that ad with one from Wal-Mart. It’s one of the only places I can find a lace bra with no lining.

TT my life coach! Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately I made a decision to leave Nola due to a man and my own family crap on Sunday the 7th. while traveling back to northern Louisiana I was distracted (changing radio) and drove off edge of 2 lane rd near Utica, MS (shortcut) no shoulder. It was around 6pm and basically drove off the edge into the woods in my brand new 3 week old car. clearly there are some kind and decent people out there. 5 guys in a HUGE truck stopped and got me out of car where I laid on the ground in a full blown drama queen meltdown. They were somehow able to get car out of woods, dispose of tree limbs, etc and followed me next 22 miles until there was a place to stop. while the car is FUCKED I am truly fortunate and grateful. But gotta say when it rains it pours. Swear I wasn’t eating ice cream or drinking!
âOMG! Katherine. I am so sorry that you had to go through all of that. For some reason my anxiety is really high today and just reading this was harrowing. I am so glad you are safe and sound. So sorry about the car. And that you are going through a rough patch full of drama and struggles. Keep the faith that everything will work out.

I checked my tomato plants this morning, and I now have six bouncing baby tomatoes! Since RHOC is about to begin, I shall do a whoo hoo a la Vicki!!
I began the day with watching the later portion of Beau Biden’s funeral mass. Such wonderful eulogies, and if you like Coldplay and didn’t watch the mass, I highly recommend googling Chris Martin’s performance at the funeral. His song was hauntingly beautiful, and I was bawling by the end. (Someone told him that Beau was a huge Coldplay fan, so Chris contacted the family and volunteered to perform!)
I heard it was a beautiful funeral. I did not click the Youtubes because I’m trying to keep my head straight. I’m already falling down on the Tamara Tattles Therapy Plan lately. I’m like four hours behind on walking.

I was waiting on my Celestone shot at urgent care this AM and the funeral was on in the waiting room. A beautiful rendition of “Bring Him Home.” I pretended my sniffles were seasonal allergies.
This afternoon I watched my son practicing for a swim meet. Very thankful my little couch potato has found something active…and loves it!
What song did he play? I haven’t been able to bring myself to watch it. I’ve been crushed by Beau Biden’s death. Joe Biden has endured too much tragedy. The world has lost an amazing leader.
He sang “Til Kingdome Come.” I lucked out time-wise … I turned it on just before President Obama’s eulogy, which was very moving and touching. Brother Hunter’s eulogy had me in tears and Martin’s song pushed me over the edge. I think the country just lost a wonderful man who didn’t get to reach his full destiny.
On the home front little worried about the rash of murders in the city over the last few days especially since they’ve occurred in neighborhoods a lot of my friends live in, The Bywater, Treme, and the Marigny. All within easy walking distance to the French Quarter. In the same areas the crime rate has gone up since the smoking ban went into effect here. Patrons are forced to smoke outside and they’re being robbed. The robbers have gotten smart enough to wear masks so that even when they’re caught on camera now it makes no difference as far as helping identify them. Believe it or not for the longest time they actually weren’t covering their faces even though those neighborhoods are saturated with cameras.
The interwebs and cables are going up and down so fast today I’m suffering from electronicle whiplash. It’s a thing. Thanks Obama! Thanks Cox Cable! Just looked up My Tomato and it’s not showing up on the list for TCM in the next two weeks for me. On the bright side while doing a manual schedule search I found To Kill a Mockingbird, Dog Day Afernoon, and Shaft and those got added, so there is that.
Yikes! Sorry to hear that WT! I just realized that I went to the ghetto store for tiny little fake smokes and not beer. Now I have go to back.
Ugh.

I love it when TCM does theme nights that are wacked out: one night they did My Dinner With Andre, Big Night, Babette’s Feast, and Eating Raoul. Which, if you know the last movie, you get the joke. Prostitute night was fun – I mean, they didn’t call it “Hooker Wednesday” or something, but they showed Butterfield 8, Klute, and Sweet Charity. Wink wink nudge nudge.
TCM is my favorite channel. Only reason I keep DirecTV.
LOVE TCM! Hooker night?? Too funny. I haven’t seen Butterfield 8, but I love Klute and Sweet Charity. Sweet Charity is so sad tho – you just know she is going to get screwed over 🙁
If you love Sweet Charity, watch Nights of Cabiria, the French movie the musical is based on. Excellent film, not a musical BTW, and, yes, grinchy me cried.
Sweet Charity was sooooo sad. Klute was really good.
That’s hilarious that they ended with Eating Raoul! 🙂 I love My Dinner with Andre. Anyone here a Community fan? They did one episode that was a take off of My Dinner with Andre and they nailed it.
Yes to Community!! It was sort of Pulp Fiction meets My Dinner With Andre episode lol. Community has to be the most creative show ever!
My all time favorite episodes were the Conspiracy Theory and the Pajama fort.
Their first pajama fort episode was hilarious! I don’t know if I can even pick a favorite episode – so many are just brilliant! One of my favorite scenes is Chang forcing Garrett into a wading pool to act as a pre-cog like in Minority Report. It was such a small scene but so funny. Or Abed’s impersonation of Dan Draper (“Cigarettes!”). How come great shows like this and Arrested Development have such a hard time catching on??
I agree, cawoman23. At least some of them are finding a home on the internet. OMG Arrested developement used to give me cramps, I’d laugh so much. The one I miss most of all though is Parks and Recreation. (sobs)
Game of Thrones question:
Can anyone explain to me:
Where is Aria?
What is that place she is in?
Why is she there?
What’s the deal with her? I remember her hopping a ship and getting to her destination, which is where she is now. But I don’t remember the back story on it.
Thanks!
Pip, she is in training under the tutelage of the man that looks a lot like Jesus, he is some kind of leader/teacher for the God of many faces. Okay so how she met Jesus guy was in the last town she was in. I think he took care of some thugs or bandits that had harassed or attacked her.
Jesus dude disappeared and she was still with burn face guy until he fell off a cliff fighting blond Amazon woman because she was trying to get the girl back to her family. Burn face dude broke his leg and begged the girl to kill him and she wouldn’t . She leaves him there to die alone, hopes a ship and finds the city of black and white where Jesus dude lives. He has decided she will be good for the group. Their job is to have many faces and live among the people when they see venerable people being abused they are trained to then kill them . At least that’s my take on it. She hasn’t killed yet but she has her orders.
Omg! Sorry for the guy and dude diatribe. I should really proofread before I post . Ugh!
When Aria was making her escape from the capital she as passing as a male. That group had three male prisoners. One of those men was the man you refer to as Jesus guy (Jaqen H’ghar). When the group was attacked she released the three prisoners, so they could fight for their lives and freedom, and for her reward Jesus dude promised her three lives for the three she saved by releasing them. All she had to do was ask and he would have them killed. He kept his word and when he departed he gave her a large medallion and told her should she have need of him to present the medallion to anyone in his town of Braavos, and ask for him. She did, and now she’s in training. My thinking is that place (The House of Black and White) is an assassins guild.
Excellent. I do remember all of that last year. (I am laughing at your names for them).
But I didn’t understand what she was doing this season. But now I understand.
Thanks for clearing that up, Kate62!
Thank you, Wonkey Tonk!
Thanks Wonky, I can follow the story line I just can’t remember their damn names! Aging is a bitch!

Tamara, sometimes when I am overwhelmed by all of the aches and pains, I find myself wondering if women in Biblical times had to live thru these same issues. But that stupid woman on that commercial squawking “Eue de partum” makes me want to punch her in the face!
In my neighborhood, we had a theft of red flowering plants, tomato plants, and pepper plants. Gentleman moved to Sr. Apt. Complex and left these plants. Crazy woman down the street stole them and threatened woman that owns the rent houses. Crazy was told by police to replant in a manner that will provide for life. The Great Plant Theft of 2015…
Don’t beat yourself up if you don’t measure up t the perceived rules of decorum or behaviour. We are who we are – like us or not, this IS who we are. Besides, it is perfectly proper to say “BITE MY ASS, BITCH”, if you need to. It will kinda roll of your tongue, after a while. Try it! You’ll LOVE it!
Try googling the Brazillian shelter dogs that made art and got them adopted. Some of their little faces will melt your heart.

@puravidacostarica2~ I love that airline. Warm chocolate chip cookies and milk when I fly to Oregon.
Can anyone tell me why the Belmont horse race was announced in Spanish? It took place on Long Island, not Mexico City. All the pre race talk for 2 hours was English. I did not change channel or anything. As soon as the race ended, it was back to English.
Really? I watched it on NBC in Los Angeles and it was all in English, thank god.
What did I do today? I logged into TT and made my first post in the commenting section. Thanks TT for acknowledging and giving me a ‘pet name’. Blue resonates positivity; blue skies, blue water, blueberries. Me likee! I see we are off to a great start; the honeymoon stage. Then I dropped the kid off to do her SAT test; three and a half hours later she came out smiling. When kids smile, I don’t ask questions! Had lunch with the teen at an Indian Restaurant we pass all the time downtown. The restaurant had poor vents, and as we did not want the smell to stick to our clothing, we sat outside and people watched; it was fantastic! Sometimes you just do not need words, facial expressions are priceless. But we did catch up on stuff while the spiciest, tastiest, curry ever! Sweet. She’s vegetarian, and I had curried lamb; so good. Homeward bound, watched UEFA, was rooting for Juventus, but Barcelona won – predictable, they have Neymar, Suarez (eye biting and racist guy) and Messi, so it was a stretch for me to root for the underdog, but I did anyway. Slept. Woke up. Channel surfed, stopped on Property Brothers; watched on mute. It becomes pretty boring to hear the potential homeowners make the same comments over and over, then Drew and Jonathon pretend to care with contrived conversations. Yah! I still watch, but I am not sure why. And, yes, I am braless. It is a given on the weekend!
You’re gonna fit in just fine, Blue. You know until my crazy comes. Then, try to take it like a woman.

I didn’t know until recently I read something on here about your tomato growing and walking, ironically that’s exactly what I started doing this spring to get me out of the funk I was in, I didn’t know it was a group thing on here! I do have to say my tomatoes aren’t doing that great the deer ate some tips off the plant.:( Also I’m planning my trip to Romania in September and read that you have visited there, I love it my husband is from there. Idk why but just wanted to mention these two things that for some reason made me happy to see!
I had a blast in Romania. I had this romantic notion about taking the train all the way to the sea but most of the locals talked me out of it. The train was a little scary, mostly because people try to “help you with your luggage” but worse is the stops are not announced and you sort of have to know where to get off. So I spent all my time trying to count stops. Sometimes you could not see the station at the stop. So I would wonder if we were at an actual depot or stopping for something else, like animals on the tracks.
I ended up just saying in Brasov (in Translyvania) and living like a local for at least a week. World Cup Soccer was in full swing so I also did a lot of cheering and drinking and partying with the Romanian guys. 🙂

Oh I was and am very single. Your Romanian husband won’t take a train there? That makes me feel better. LOL. Actually, it’s fine and the scenery is lovely, but gypsies do get on at every stop and try to sell you stuff. You have to watch your luggage. 😉 But I bought and old magazine in French from one peddler and they sell like snacks and stuff. It’s all part of the cultural immersion. It’s sort of a madhouse in Bucharest, I felt very grown up taking the train.
I was flying A LOT by the time I was 6 internationally, but setting off in a train that was not the romantical idea in my head heading for fucking Transylvania and seeing the hay bales and being in a very remote location (Brasov) alone. I felt like an adult.
Does that make sense?
