UPDATE! 38K raised for Toby’s Fund! Excellent work, Shep and Cameran.
Thanks to all the TT folks who contributed.xoxo
The other day I noticed on I believe it was Lisa Vanderpump’s Twitter, a chocolate colored dog whose mouth and been firmly taped shut with black electrical tape. I wasn’t able to look at it let along read where or why this happened. It is very upsetting for me to think about even now.
So when someone sent me this benefit flyer related to the Charleston Animal Society, I thought it was a really bad flier because all of the words are covering up the most adorable dog ever.
You see I failed to make the connection. The words are covering up the dog’s muzzle which is severely damaged and bloody in places. His tongue was in between his teeth when his jaw was taped shut. His tongue and lips suffered significant damage. There was a surgery that took longer than anticipated and the dog is healing at a Vet’s office on Mount pleasant.
Shep Rose, Cameran Eubanks and K. Cooper Ray, cast members of “Southern Charm,” will help throw a benefit party at the Republic Garden & Lounge on King Street next week in honor of Caitlyn, the dog found last week in North Charleston with her muzzle taped shut.

The fundraiser will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday. The cover charge is $10, which will be donated to Toby’s Fund, money that allows the Charleston Animal Society to provide medical and behavioral treatment to neglected and abused animals in the Lowcountry.
Like many others around the world, Rose said he was inspired to help raise funds for Charleston Animal Society after seeing the photo of Caitlyn with tape wound so tightly around her nose that her tongue had turned black.
“It was a very easy decision for me to agree to help,” Rose wrote in an email Wednesday. “Abusing a pet is similar to a abusing a child in my mind. Just inexcusable and deplorable.”
Caitlyn had surgery Wednesday morning at Veterinary Specialty Care to repair the tissue damage in her lips and tongue. To make donations to Toby’s Fund, visit www.charlestonanimalsociety.org/tobys-fund/. [ SOURCE: Post & Courier]
If you are fortunate enough to be in Charleston next Tuesday, stop in and meet Shep and Cameran and find out some tea for us and drop a ten spot or two in the collection plate.
Oh I forgot to mention the hours have been extended until closing time.
Thanks so much for drawing attention to this, I just signed the petition.
TT, this is very good of you to carry the benefit AD on here. Nice of the Southetn Charm crew to raise awareness and money.
I read this a few days ago and immediately thought this was a photo I would not send you. I’m glad you did not see it. Horrible.
I’ve read the abuser is in jail now.
That is such good news!! I hope they throw the book at him!
They need to keep him in jail and clamp his tongue between his teeth and tie tape around his head and jaw to keep it shut. Bet he wouldn’t like that too much. TO BAD! What goes around comes around. I hope he and any other animal abuser is punished to the hilt and then some. Problem is the law is to soft on them, we need to make the laws harder on these abusers. NO mercy just like they did to the animal.
I don’t know what the laws are in SC, but I do hope that the person who did this goes to jail for an extended stay. Abuse an animal, go to jail. We have too much disrespect for other animal species. My cat was an abused animal, and I love him as if he were my son.
The idiot male that did this is also facing drug and gun charges that should help to insure that he stays in jail for a long time. He looks to be a very large angry male, that hates EVERYTHING around him. Hopefully, his other charges will send him back to prison and keep him away from all of God’s creatures. He needs to be with the other animals in prison for the remainder of his time on Earth. As you notice, I referred to him as ‘male’, because I don’t believe that a ‘man’ would behave in this manner.
I don’t know how anyone could do such a despicable thing to an animal!!
It’s nice to have confirmation that these two are as nice as they seem. Thank you for sharing….Wonderful to see them put their fame to such good use! I hope Cameron actually adopts the three-legged dog. He makes me think of Champion from Parks and Rec! I love that dog!
My puppy Max loves to watch other dogs on tv. Even cartoon dogs (Doug from Up is his favorite). But he growls every single time he sees Champion. I can’t explain it… Champion is the best!
We used to get pretty excited whenever there was a Champion appearance! It’s amazing how he runs as well as a four-legged dog!!
The fact that Cameran and Shep are taking their time to try to help a little abused dog has made me look at them in a different light. I now believe they must be good people in real life if they are animal lovers and were touched enough to do a fundraiser. i liked both of them on the show and this made me like them more. You go Cameran and Shep.
I agree! It really is difficult to see them as human sometimes, or it is for me I judge them though: ( I am such a hypocrite.
The Charleston Animal Society does great work. They recently rescued a dog they found impaled on a tree limb, too. My Maine Coon cat came from there.
If I could have one super power it would be to be able to destroy the thing in people’s heads that allows them to abuse animals, children or each other.
That would be a good super power to have catazure…I wish I had it too. Sigh.
Thank you Shep and Cameran! Thx TT for spreading the word. Posts like this make everyone smile.
Thank you for caring and posting Tamara! ❤️
My black heart gets choked up with anger & emotion every time I see this dog’s picture with his mouth taped. It hurts me when ever I see any animals being abused.
I signed an online petition so that Judge in this abuse case would consider giving the abusive dog owner the harshest penalty allowed by law for his heinous actions.
I just scrolled right by the photo as quickly as possible. It was awful. Let’s not think about it. He is doing better now.

Thanks for mentioning the petition. I found it and signed it.
I knew I liked Shep for some reason, also Camaran. I will watch the show next season.
Can we make a large consolidated donation via your Happy Pill Fund?
NO! I provided a link if you would like to donate directly.

I cried when I read the article about Toby. I cried when I read this article about the benefit for him. I already loved Southern Charm, I love it even more now. Cameran, Shep and Cooper – Thank you for using your popularity to raise awareness to this situation. I’m impressed!.
I hope the piece of shit that did this to that poor dog suffers more than poor Toby did before he was found.
The Charleston Animal Society is working hard to be a no kill shelter, taking all animals and promoting good ownership practices. The pit is on the mend, thanks to them. Please give generously online if you can’t attend.
I’m glad they are using their “fame” to bring awareness to abused and neglected animals. Hopefully they will raise enough money for this dog and many others. Owning a dog is a commitment. I don’t understand people who get annoyed and then abuse. If you don’t want a 20 year commitment, don’t own a pet or have a child for that matter. And please spay and neuter.
âGod, I hope no one tells Banjo he has committed to so many years taking care of me. He’s bolt at the nearest opportunity.

Well, how old was banjo when you got him?
If you notice dog food missing along with his favorite blankets and toys, he may be planning his escape! LOL. I’m not worried I think he has it good.
I got the puppy discount. They were not sure. Around 10-11 months. We have frequent tiffs over the quality of the special something I am apparently supposed to add to his kibble. Some days, there is no special something and he can pout FOR DAYS until something special comes along.
Such an entitled bitch he is.

TT, Banjo expects some perks for taking care of you. A little something-something in his kibble and an occasional walkie isn’t too much to ask lol.
I don’t always HAVE something he can have. He needs to learn that some days are better than others.
He got a bit of bacon tonight. I haven’e eaten all day. I burned my bagel. 🙁 CHEERS!

Consider yourself lucky. We’ve got 5 fur people looking at us for bits of our food with these pitiful faces while we eat. They make it seem like they haven’t eaten in 3 days when they are always fed before we get our food. They are such perfect little beggars for over 100 pound dogs each.
There is a special place in hell for people who abuse animals, children, elderly people, and who sell ineffective drugs to cancer patients.
This is what makes me SEETHE, not some stupid housewife on a show amongst people I do not even know. Anyone who is abusive to an animal deserves a special place in hell. I would not mind escorting any lowlife that gets their kicks harming a poor defensiveness animal into the next life.
That is nice of them and nice of you to post! I follow some animal groups who always post horrible pictures, but they make an impact and inspire change. I still scroll past them very quickly, too. 🙂
I can’t look at LVP’s twitter TL for long because she frequently has horrifying pictures of abused animals. People that abuse animals or kids should be put down, and yes, I mean literally put down – we don’t need them, for anything.
I just nibbled around the edge of this Caitlyn story this week. It just hurts my psyche too much to read them. You did a great job of letting me know the story w/out totally breaking my heart. I hope the dog recovers and it doesn’t take a lot for a dog to have a good life. I’m sure that Caitlyn’s forever home will completely heal her. I’m sure Banjo and Inky are pulling for her with us.
My sister and I just love reading your blogs. After watching Southern Charm this season she decided to take a vacation in Charleston next week. I told her about the benefit and she is going to attend. I told her to take pictures so we can send them to you. Thanks for spreading the word Tamara! I hope they have a huge turn out!
YAY! Expect the turnout to be HUGE, they have already extended the hours. It is getting a lot of publicity. Go EARLY and turn your phone horizontally to take photos!
Will do, thanks again.
This is so disturbing but am glad you guys posted the abuser is in jail.
Animal abuse should be a felony.
He was released on $50,000 bail
I think it’s great they are doing this. I feel like I’ve been reading about this dog forever now on Facebook. It’s such a sad story that has so many people sad and/or angry.
Side note: I don’t understand why the cast of southern charm only goes to republic when there are SO many great places downtown. Republic must pay for this publicity, yes?
um, of course.
There is a movement on facebook to use Caitlyns photo as your profile pic this week. Started yesterday and goes thru next Sat.
Darn, severe thunderstorms with hail. Hope it doesn’t ruin this benefit, but it always floods when it rains here.
Wonderful results even though the streets were flooded from severe storms!
#Caitlyn update June 11th Dr.Bianucci Caitlyn’s primary surgeon from Veterinary Specialty Care – SC texted that #Caitlyn had a little setback and he will have to take care of the wound under her chin because it has opened up. He will probably put her under tomorrow to re-suture
