Dance Moms Down Under Part 2 Recap: THIS Was Nia’s Time to Shine!

May 28, 2015 by tamaratattles 36 Comments

Abby is preparing a Mad Max themed group routine for all of the girls except Nia and JoJo. I know why Nia is being punished, but I can’t remember why Jo Jo is. I guess it was something Jess said.  Even more ridiculous is the fact that Kalani and her mom are taking a mother daughter day in Australia. Which is fine. But can you imagine if Nia or JoJo or even Kendall tried to do that? The girls make up with Jo Jo over their mean girl comments.

Nia is allowing Jo Jo to dance in her event. Which is really sweet. Abby is pissed that Nia’s choreographer flew in from LA to coordinate her show. Jill has the nerve to be pissed that Nia didn’t include all the kid in her performance. Um, Nia’s whole reason behind doing a performance is because she was excluded from all the ones with the other kids. Abby seems legitimately furious that Nia has a better choreographer than she is working on her show.

Meanwhile, Kalani is not even at practice for the group dance. Abby says Kalani is the star of the dance so she has her own part to learn.  Yet, when she shows up the next day, the majority of her moves appear to be just like everyone else’s. The other moms are pissed that Kira spent the day with her boyfriend and Kalani. Abby is pissed that Kalani doesn’t know the routine, even though Abby was fine with her missing the first day of practice.

Jill continues to point out to Abby that Nia’s performance is way better than their little dance recital event. It’s killing Abby.

The Mad Max performance went well. Kalani faltered a bit a the end but Abby didn’t seem to notice. The venue seemed small. Nia’s performance is outdoors on a stage in the middle of Federation Square and it is jam packed with hundreds of screaming fans.  Nia looks amazing. It looks like she’s had a growth spurt and it taller and leaner. She really is a very pretty young lady.

The little Aussie girls are going NUTS! They act like they are about to see Justin Bieber. The Dance Moms snuck out to support Nia. The girls had to stay behind for a meet and greet.

Nia’s performance was fantastic. She was so sweet to include Jo Jo and let her share the stage. I think any of the girls would have rather had the performance Nia had than the one with Abby.  According to Dancing with B who shot the footage Nia actually performed the song twice so that Lifetime could get plenty of footage.  I must say Dancing with B got much better shots of the routine. Some fool in front was holding up a fully opened laptop to record and there were a lots of signs blocking the shots. Nia was VERY confident on stage. She did a great job.

I think one day we may see Jill’s head just start spinning. I’ve never heard someone talk in so many circles. I hope it’s all to create drama and she’s not that dumb.

So why in all these years has Abby not been having Nia dance hip hop in competition? I think Nia should really pursue her singing. Hello Disney, you have a show for Nia?

Nia did so amazing! She really should be a singer she is so good! Abby acts like Nia looking older is going to go against her, she is an idiot. Monica,Brandy, and Aliyah all looked way older than they were when they were first starting out. Also the comments the other girls made about JoJo were rude and they are mean little girls. Their “Fauxpology” to JoJo was irritating it was sorry not sorry! They only “apologized” because it makes them look bad.

Let’s give Kira her dues. She is actually the grown up mean girl (yes, I caught the oxymoron… mean girl and grown up ) that started the making fun of Jojo’s difficulty in pronouncing her Rs. The smaller mean girls learned that ugliness from her.

    1) I can totally see Nia’s song being this summer’s big song, driven by 14 year old girls and 30 year old gay guys. Seriously, I can see it being big in the dance clubs. Great job by all involved.
    2) Who flew Nia’s team to Australia? I would assume Lifetime or the music company people and I don’t understand why Jill kept saying he got a free trip to Australia, except, you know, its Jill being Jill – the head spinning rationalization and changing of story from sentence to sentence within the same conversation is so weird to watch.
    3) The more I see of Jojo the more I like her and her mom. Neither seem intimidated by or beholden to Abby. Jojo seemed to be genuinely appreciative to dance at Nia’s event (good job Nia in making sure to include her with the press and at the end of the performance. Classy.) And she handled the Four Favorites deplorable behavior well.
    4) At least Melissa is transparent in her ambitions and doesn’t ry to disguise it, mask it, or deflect it like Jill.
    5) Producers totally took Abby’s bag, right? 🙂

No I think Abby genuinely lost the bag. I think a lot of things on this show are way more real than others. Especially Abby’s anger. I find it interesting that Nia gets a REALLY GOOD edit on a show that Abby supposedly has some say so over. I don’t think she has much input on editing based on all the really unfortunate shots of her binge eating in cars and showing up disheveled.

The only reason I think Abby really did lose her stuff is because I doubt she would stage the moment right in fron of the kiosk at an airport…on the ride over? yeah, no doubt but not actually AT the airport, plus Abby seems like the type that would replace her things if Gianna is not there holding it for her.

I’m not saying it was staged. I’m saying someone on the put upon production crew saw an opportunity to majorly mess with Abby and maybe, just maybe, schooched that bag with his/her foot somewhere else.

Nias’ performance in those videos is fantastic! She has really blossomed very nicely. She and Maddie and the other young lady that made a video also, seem to gradually leaving ALDCs’ influence. Which is as it should be because they are growing so it’s only natural. But I bet Abby is having the ‘meat sweat’ behind their successes. The saying is (I think) the best revenge, is to do well, and seems like Nia is on her way in spite of Abby.

Jills name ought to be changed to Janus. She is the most two faced person ever. After having the temerity to tell Holly and Nia to stay away from the super special exclusive/excluding and don’t talk to our fans event, she is upset that Nia did not include all the girls in her show. WTF we are a team?
I am liking JoJo more and more. She is Miss Sparkle Plenty. Nia was generous to include her. It was fun to see Abbey’s pantiesin such a wad.
Nia is lovely, talented, smart, and sweet. I hope she goes far.

Interesting to read that you think Nia gets a GOOD EDIT, TT. Shines a little perspective. Abby has been said to be very sweet and plays up for the cameras by random YouTube videos I’ve ran across over the years of watching the show. Then again, you mentioned the anger being genuinely and the binge eating being unfortunate… It’s all great footage but does lead to believe Abby is still unstable even if a sweetie when lifetime is not around the majority of the time.
Leads me to believe Jill’s green of envy color is also pushed by lifetime. Entertaining but exaggerated. Jealous rightfully so tho. Nia’s song and work for it out do Brooke’s, MakZ’s, and KendallK’s any day. The only thing is, I’ve actually heard Brooke’s song on my local radio stations here in LA.
Good job Nia! Hope you get to Brooke’s level ASAP with all that professional backing

The more I see of Maddie, the more I suspect she is really a mean little diva that really plays it up for the cameras.
I wish Nia all the success. Yes, she began on Dance Moms, but she and Holly have worked hard for her to succeed. I’m sure abby will claim that it was all her doing.

I find Melissa to be the worst. She’s a big snitch and is terrified of any child doing better than Maddie. Life is long, Melissa. There is enough to go around for all those girls.

If Maddie ever dances backup for Nia you can be sure Melissa is in a straight jacket at some crisis management ward of her local hospital.

That said, I was impressed by Jojo. Her dancing is very good and personality is larger than life. I wonder how long she will last on Abby’s team.

Abby had the nerve to comment on Nia looking to grown up yet she was out at a zoo of some sort I guess with the girls. All of them were in full make up with winged eye liner and lipstick. Mackenzie the youngest of them all had on cut off booty shorts and a shirt with her belly showing which wouldn’t be so bad if she didn’t have a pound of make up on while wearing it. This was not a dance event but little girls at a zoo. What’s wrong with these moms and where’s Abby’s judgement about looking to grown up with them. Actually JoJo was the one with no make up and a pony tail and her bow that did at least make her look age appropriate.

Am I the only one surprised by Holly.. (the educator) pushing so hard for Nia’s success in a very shallow industry ? Or have I forgotten what it’s like to have a13 yr old daughter?? ( who I’d have done most anything for) I’m far from a prude…was a pretty liberal parent yet, this new Holly surprises me..the other moms I expect nothing less..but, Holly? I feel like she’s pimping Nia. Omg. I think I’m just getting old!!

I see your drift! I genuinely think this is Nia’s dream. holly is taking advantage of the exposure in all the smart right ways. She has a one up on the moms by not being confined to just Abby and that’s a reflection of her intelligence. Good for Nia to have that savvy go get it mom. The one thing that keeps my respect for holly in such a shallow endeavor is how she orients Nia about believing in herself, not allowing others opinions of Nia affect Nia’s self esteem, etc. a lot of that dialogue is often featured in Nia’s story line with her mom. As a parent our job is to guide and support while the kids follow their passions. Great way for the Sioux family to try and maintain a balance.

I don’t get that Holly’s rants about Abby leaving out her kid, but it was ok to leave out the other girls. Her battle cry has been “don’t punish the child for what the parent does”, but didn’t she do the same thing? Maddie and the bunch had NO control over Abby leaving out Jo Jo & Nia,, but they were punished. Imo, she’s stooped to Abby’s level.

Not in the least. Nia’s event was scheduled at a time the FavoriteFour were at a private event of Abby’s. Abby did not include Nia or JoJo in that event, which prompted the scheduling of Nia’s concert.

WHAT PART OF NIA AND JO JO WERE EXCLUDED FROM THE MELBOURNE EVENTS AND WENT TO MAKE THEIR OWN FUN?

If you are not invited to a party, and decide to have your own competing party, you don’t invite the original people who excluded you.

The girls had their own event at the time of Nia’s show.

I find it hard to judge child talent, but she seems to have a lot of fans in Australia. She is a good lip syncher, but I could not hear her voice very well. I’m happy for her. I just find it odd that they can all sing all of a sudden.

Rita, I noticed that too. Abby is a bully to the kids- there is always one to two girls that she relentlessly criticizes and mocks. Then they leave and there is someone new to hate- I think she is a miserable woman and finds pleasure in damaging young souls. Nia has learned from Abby- dancing and how to overcome tough times due to Holly- she seems like a smart lady who encourages Nia and teaches her to turn Abby’s bullying into a life lesson- Holly doesn’t let Nia pity herself but consoles Nia and tells her to go out there and be her best.
Wow- Ive gone way off topic—- yes Rita I noticed when Abby gets nervous and jealous she seems to get dry mouth- you can’t help but notice with that lipstick she wears- she reminds me of gumby—its icky looking, but it’s nice to see her get hers…….

I’m so heartily sick of Holly and wish she would quit the show. I know I’m in the minority but I thought Nia’s dancing and outfit were too provocative for her age, and she had to have lip synced. How do we know if any of these girls can sing as their songs are so manufactured and probably autotuned to the max. I don’t see she was any better than Kendall or Mackenzie. This show is so scripted. Is this show shown in Australia? How did they get the big audience for Nia’s performance? I think it’s laughable that Holly is so impressed by Aubrey. What exactly has she done without Diddy?

This show jumped the shark a long time ago.

So glad I found someone who feels the same way! Although I am a little surprised that Holly’s personality seemed to take a sudden turn (not for the better or worse, just so different) this season. I wonder if the producers are paying her and Jill to act the way they do – they need to find someone to fill those “villain” and “poor abused person” roles..

Holly is a great mom as she is making Nia live her dreams. I suspect that Holly changed this season to get more airtime for her daughter. Nia looks so happy and cofindent on stage. I agree she has grown into a little beauty. From her choreographers twitter she has another song and video made as there are pictures of Nia, Jojo and Carmen Electra from the set. Holly’s twitter confirms this . (Please forgive me if violating any commenting rules. I am just happy Nia is going to get some more time to shine).
