Kenya Moore has released the full episode of the Life Twirls On Pilot. I finally took some time to watch it and I think it’s pretty funny. It is littered with RHOA inside jokes. When Kenya gets some face work done the first thing I thought of was Brandi’s face.
My thoughts on the show are that Janet Hubert would have needed to be replaced anyway. I think her character is based on Kenya’s real aunt with some silly folklore thrown in for laughs. Since we have seen her real aunt, Janet just doesn’t work for me. I wonder if her real aunt can act?
Brandon is cast as the over the top gay. I love him, but I think they went a bit far over the top. The general public is not going to get the tossed salad joke. It is pretty funny to me. But I think the average viewer would just find it weird.
Some things worked better than others. I thought the camera angles were very well done. Shots like the scene that opened on the jerk tofu were interesting.
Overall, I think it would be funnier if the same scenes were shot with pretty much the same dialogue with a bit of scaling back on the over the top acting. Except for Cynthia. Unlike some of you I thought she was the scene stealer.
I love the script. It needs a tiny bit of tweaking but the overall premise was fantastic. The concept of all the sisters moving in with Auntie Viv …er I mean Lorraine or whatever is great for future episodes.
I did not understand where we were in the scene with Cynthia. Whose shop is that? Why was Kenya there watering plants?
I think this is a diamond in the rough, and with a bit of polish I could see it going far.
Watch the video below and tell me what you think.
Sorry ms TT I think it’s terrible…I’m embarrassed for her
Well, you’re wasting your embarrassment. Because I’m sure she is extremely proud of her accomplishment. I think that emotion you are having maybe jealousy.

No ma’am, it’s a hot mess of a show with bad acting. I’d watch nene on tv over her any day. But I do I’ve your blogs
Love your blogs I meant
Wow, I can’t believe it. I loved it and I hope it gets picked up. The cast was really good as well as the editing. Good job Kenya
I thought it was great and would love to see more.
I really laughed! Kenya is on to something here.
Cute little vanity project but not really my thing. I wasn’t sure if I was watching a sitcom or a commercial for hair care products.
TT – I think that was supposed to be Kenya’s shop in the scene with Cynthia. I did get a kick out of Kenya after she got the work done on her face. She had Brandi’s cheeks!!!
I wanted to like it and appreciated her efforts. It fell short. It felt forced.
Do we know what other critics had to say about it ? Not that anyone else’s opinion matters…..) just curious. Like you TT, I wasn’t crazy about the aunt. Not the real aunt, I like her, but the pretend aunt, Janet Hubert. I also loved all the little digs (Thot, face like Brandi’s, so on) And I hope Nene had a meltdown. But she will say she didn’t have time to watch with her big Hollywood life.
TT, I agree, Cynthia was hilarious!
I thought it was hysterical, and very well produced for an independently produced pilot. When/if it is picked up and a development deal is negotiated, it will be a very different show. The cast will likely change and the comedy will be more for the masses.
I liked it. I would watch more.
I thought this was decent for it being a low-budget production. I think Kenya’s acting is so-so… It’s hard for me to explain. There was one point where she and D. Woods’ character were having a heart-to-heart on the couch, and she said “my husband” — I thought they were still not married yet? I felt much more drawn in to Leon, Brandon, and D. Woods as the better actors. My favorite scene was the one of the 1st scenes with all the guys sippin and swillin and cracking jokes while getting dressed — that was great. I guess I’d give the whole thing 7/10 stars. Needs more work like you mentioned. I think Kenya has a great comedic vision and I’m hopeful that she can fine-tune it the way it needs to be once it becomes a series.
And yes, the hair commercials (all 4 or 5 of them) got annoying after a while. One would have sufficed! 😀
Didn’t like the Aunt at all. So out of place. I love her real Aunt.
Have you gone mad? This was amateurish. It was cringingly bad. The premise is there, and the setting is nice, but the writing is arch and smutty and the acting was grade school theatrical level.
This was good, whether you’re a Kenya fan or not, this as really good!
It’s a pilot this is funny, believable and entertaining without exploiting urban or minority lifestyles. Haters, put your hate down and give Kenya her props.
Somebody need to check on Nene, I know she is searching for something rotten to say, but hopefully one day Nene will be able to see what a wonderful opportunity she missed out on. Kenya surprised me. This is ART!
Kenya is a natural on screen, and I think with more experience she will be good. I like the premise and I think her show has promise, but she needs a professional writer. I don’t know why they didn’t make the cheating scene for real, except if they bring back Leon’s character. It would have made her reaction more believable, because there wasn’t enough there for the viewer to make the same assumption that Kenya’s character made.
I agree – Brandon will need to tone it down a bit, and the loss of Janet is no loss at all. I LOVE Kenya’s real aunt!
I thought it was cute. Some bits were quite amusing. I liked the voiceover that was reminiscent of “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”. Over all, I think the concept is good and with adept writers it could make an enjoyable series. I don’t like the actress playing the part of the sister called Megan. However, D. Woods as Robin was cast perfectly.
Cynthia was actually better than I expected. She was sort of channeling a Jamaican version of Ms. Swan.
I thought Kenya was adorable. I even liked her hair care ad. One thing I like so much about Kenya is her intelligence and the fact that much of the stuff she does on RHOA is done tongue in cheek and it goes right over the heads of the less intelligent Housewives. She is playing them and sometimes they recognize that but don’t have the wit to respond in kind. (Hence, that baffled look that Phaedra does so well). Like she says, people keep trying to figure her out and she just lets them.
I watched it yesterday, I agree needs tweaking but has potential.
The Kenya Moore Hair commercials… That is my gripe. Every 4 mins.
I do hope Kenya finds herself a man soon, I really do.
You can stop hoping. She found one months and months ago.

I couldn’t watch the whole thing. It wasn’t good. Very cheesy. I like Kenya but this show might not be the best project to work on.
Or maybe you should just stop watching and over analyzing every aspect of a sitcom from a person you say you can’t stand. It’s not like you are a blogger who has to pay attention to everything.
Nope, you chose to spend half an hour of your life watching a sitcom by someone you spend a lot of time telling us you hate and then writing a lengthy criticism about how no one will watch. Do you not see the hypocrisy there at all? Probably not.

It’s obvious every1becalm hasn’t ever watched a sitcom before. Some of the most successful have been based on ridiculous premises.
If I didn’t make my living on this shit I would not be watching any of these shows let alone discussing them.
You on the other hand are free to choose to read about things you like. Like Nene. The queen of bragging on herself over NOTHING.
Kenya created a sitcom.

Oh please this is blatantly an advert for her haircare brand wrapped in some fake pilot. Still it’s a good effort for some privately funded and non professional script but it’s no everybody loves Raymond. I don’t think it’s got legs. Loving Brandon though. I just think now for comedy shows in general that all jokes have been written and all scenarios are so predictable.
Since the pilot is so good, I’m looking forwards to see the whole series. Kenya and all her crew have delivered an outstanding job. By the way do you know who played the staff at Cynthia’s flower boutique ? He’s kinda fine ! (in my Kenya’s voice).
I liked it. I really did.
Kenya can do no wrong in my book. I’ve liked her from the first on RHOA and I never got why the others were so harsh with her. Loved this! It needs work, but I would watch it, for sure. Kenya is as good of an actress on any soap out there so why not?
I want to see what happens in the living arrangement so I hope it does get picked up and financed for more scenes. I thought the actresses were all good, even the aunt. Yes, the REAL aunt would have been better, but this lady did alright. The frequency of the commercials was just another of Kenya’s cheeky jabs at real series. You know, how you can’t go five minutes without a commercial? She makes me laugh.
Nancy, Kenya makes me laugh too. She is really quite clever and she is the sort of beautiful woman that doesn’t mind laughing at herself in a light hearted way. I won’t watch the series if it gets picked up but, for her sake, it would be nice if it were a money maker.
By the way, did you notice in the list of the cast there was someone called White Chocolate? Too funny.
I think there’s some potential here. The aunt should definitely be recast. I wonder how Denise Burse (neighbor Claretha onTP House of Payne) or Valarie Pettiford would play this role. Overall its a bit too over the top for me. I know Kenya didn’t plan to write this herself initially. I think some professional script writers may be able to help tone it down some.
I agree with TT’s observations.
I tend to feel most sit coms are overacted. I find many to be so ridiculous, I can’t watch, even successful ones. I love all the HW references.
I must say Kenya makes a gorgeous bride.
I felt like I was watching a high school production painful to watch, more so if your child is not in it. The premise definitely has potential, silly sitcoms have been created and done well. My issue is with the over the top acting in general. Some times less is more.
I do think Cynthia was much more watchable than anyone else and a surprisingly a good actress. She should try for some other acting roles.
My issue with Kenya is her voice. Her acting voice sounds nothing like her in tone or inflection. It just does not come off as natural. I think that is where the “she is trying to hard” comments are originating. So maybe a few voice lessons will push her out of the actress “C” list and on to the B or even A list. Lord knows Kenya is a beautiful smart women, so she has all the other attributes needed.
I felt the same way about Kenya’s acting. I couldn’t put my thoughts into words, but yours match what I was thinking exactly. Granted, I haven’t seen her older screen credits. As a producer/writer, she is great. Her acting on this sitcom just didn’t sit right with me 🙁 I like her, but I do think she has room for growth in this area.
It just seemed to me that she was playing the RHOA character. But hey, maybe it will work for her. After all, Jennifer Anniston pretty much plays the same character in all of her movies.
True. If this does get picked up, ultimately, I do think Kenya will have to choose to focus on either honing in on her acting skills so that she can remain on her show, or continue with RHOA while working behind the scenes of her show as a writer/exec producer. I really don’t think the quality will remain intact if she does both the acting on TV and reality TV.
I’ve never understood the ability to like, love, hate, Bravolebrities. How can you like, love, hate people you don’t know on a personal level? Most are playing some sort of character, which may or may not resemble who they are in real life. I don’t watch many of the Bravo shows any more ( I used to watch all of the HW shows, but now pretty much just watch BH and Top Chef), but I do so enjoy reading TTs recaps and the comments.
I thought it was cute. The acting was rather uneven, but still entertaining. The best part was the wedding guests grabbing the gifts as they ran off. That was funny!
It’s was really good. Even her commercial was good even though it was saturated with shade. U laughed at the jokes. Brandon & Cynthia were good too. Yes, recast Aunt Viv. She racing like a lying lunatic & the Kenya haters are eating it up with their hate biscuits. Overall, I really think her show would be a wonderful sitcom. And is such a hater.
For a self made low budget pilot it’s not the worst. There is a very very tiny gem in there. She needs to recast and rewrite the middle sister, and recast the aunt. But if she got a good writer and worked out the kinks casting wise, it could be a campy little thing. Seems like something Camille Grammar would produce!
I am always amazed at just how stunningly beautiful Kenya is. I enjoyed her production she put together. I bet it took a lot of time and money—-and Kenya is actually willing to put herself out there.
I really hope she succeeds.
Kenya Moore is a beautiful woman, and she certainly knows how to capitalize on her time in the reality television spotlight.
When I saw snips of it before I didn’t think I’d like it. I must say I am I bit surprised that I liked it more than I thought I would. Yes I agree that most of the ladies acting was a bit over the top but with a little tweeking and experience that will improve. In the clip I didn’t like Cynthia at all but she actually had the funniest scene to me. I would love to see a comedian like Monique or Wanda Sykes come in as the aunt. A bigger name star would certainly not hurt and definantly help with the comedic timing. I will watch if it gets picked up.
Here are my casting suggestions if Kenya wants to play it over the top and go down the RHOA path.
Porsha as the youngest sister gold digger.
Phaedra as the middle sister psychiatrist.
Nene as the Brandon character.
Mama Joyce as the aunt.
Cynthia can stay and maybe Kenya will write a role for Kandi.
haha – I crack myself up.
Hey Tootsie—-
You crack me up too!
Not the worst that I have seen but I don’t think I would watch. Kenya’s acting is like watching an episode of RHOA..
I liked it and would watch it regularly. My only suggestions are Cece should lose the accent and the middle sister should be developed a little more. She was kind of annoying and too much. Also, I wasn’t really a fan of the product placement Cece did. That was kind of lame and annoying. I liked everything else though.
It’s going to be ok Every1becalm: Everyone has an off day. I hope you are feeling better soon. I’m a big fan of Kenya from the moment she won Miss USA. I am rooting for her to find her future husband, have a baby and do well in whatever makes her happy. I was relived when I actually enjoyed her sitcom. I thought that Brandon was adorable but needs to tone it down a bit. Cynthia stole the scenes she was in. Kenya in my opinion was so likable and relatable. She worked hard on this project and I hope Bravo, Lifetime, UPN, Oprah or someone picks it up. Proud of you Kenya.
Happy Mother’s day peeps.
I have to admit I do not remember Kenya when she was Miss USA. I first saw her on RHOA and I think she is is impressive in many ways. I really hope she gets a break .
p.s. Every1becalm—- we disagree about Kenya but I always get a kick out of your comments. Hey— different opinions are what make the world go round, right? Be well.
Hope your day gets better Every1

I absolutely loved this! People don’t understand its a pilot. When a major network pickup pilots they recast and add top notch things to take it to the next level. I’m praying her pilot gets picked up by a network.
No weapon formed shall prosper! She will get it picked up and I’m watching every episode.
Also, that Moore hair care when it comes out I’m pre ordering! This will take her to the top millionaires bracket.
She can then move on from RHOA. Sometimes it’s best to use platforms as platforms. Go ahead KENYA!!! This will be your year ! tv show and hair care line!!
Thanks, T, for posting the show. Some things may need tweaking but I would watch more. I enjoyed it. The commercials were annoying for sure, but it did cause me to want to try the products lol…
The pilot stunk.
Ok I don’t have long dark hair….does “Kenya Moore Hair” work on blonde hair?
It’s shampoo and conditioner I think. She has become the second Bravolerity whose products I would use. The first being Asa from Shahs. She was supposed to send me free diamond water. Apparently she can’t keep it in stock. I also want her muumuus but they are too expensive for not being cotton.

I liked the pilot. I was pleasantly surprised because I wasn’t expecting much from it. For some reason I could see this on Showtime for some reason with a few tweaks on the cast as well namely Janet Hubert, since she publicly called Kenya out.
I really liked it! It was funny Kenya is an Aquarius and we do have great ideas!
I will try her hair care products also when I see them in the store cause she does have some good hair. But that many commercials? I personally would have stuck with the real hair that’s beautiful angle. The Mrs USA stuff is like beating a dead horse. I get it you were Mrs USA.
I don’t like any sitcoms except Big Bang Theory and this is the reason why. She is beautiful and her hair is gorgeous, she should stick with her hair products. Her commercial was better then the show, she did well in that.
I luv it its so Kenya good to watch or I wouldn’t watch it! X
Ahh okay I get it – the pilot was really just wrapping paper for the hair care products.
And if it happens to get picked up, then she’s got herself two gifts eh.
I loved it. I think she did a great job. I didn’t care for the middle sister too much, though. Cynthia was great. Kenya can always laugh at herself. I love that. I would definitely watch and I hope that it gets picked up. It was nice seeing black people be black and just living, rather than the usual stereotypical BS.
Great job, Kenya.
Before you judge, even though everyone has their rights to do so, just hear this out. Kenya did a great job way beyond the final clip. This woman had guts to pursue her passion in filming. She single handedly wrote, arranged finaced, produced, directed, acted, edited, etc. That’s Boss! Give her some credit before you pass judgment on her work. Bravo Kenya!
I’ll definitely watch it. I have been a fan of Kenya from day one, and I hope she succeeds with this comedy. It isn’t perfect, but it does have potential.
I hope if it continues Kenya doesn’t just play a diva but acts like a real older sister. That’s something I like about her on rhoa, she reminds me of my older sister.
‘Life Twirls On’ was fun to watch. The actors did a good job with the script, and the scenes were very well shot. Brandon … while over the top… had some good one liners. The pilot has potential for growth into a series. I would definitely watch.
Kenya is very talented. Let the haters hate.
Haven’t finished watching yet but re the hair commercial – it sounds like Kenya’s aunt doing the voice over.
I enjoyed the show. I’ll watch again.
