Whoa Tamara I/we have a pair of Dwarf Africian gray frogs. They are so easy to care for, feed them twice a week, change their water weekly or bi-weekly and they are pretty happy for the most part. Correction they are happy until they both want the same bite of food and then it’s always one biting the other ones hiney.
Yes, I will play the 3 question game because I am a dunce and cannot find the FUCKING blind item reveal on the RHoA blog, and I need to clear my head before I get back at it. I actually thought about beating my head against my keyboard, then realized that would probably just hurt me more, so I refrained…for now anyway. So without further adoo-doo:

Gingersnap, let’s just say the blind item “underlines” the reason that people chose the person they believe the article is written about. Lol. Hope this helps with your hunt.
Thanks hannah…I think you’re giving me a hint so now, I’m going back in. Wish me luck! If I find this easter egg, I’ll let you know…in code of course. I will need to be stealthy…lol.
Yes Gingersnap. Keep thinking about my comment while you are rereading the blog. Lol. TT said not to give it away so I didn’t give the answer. Just “underlined” a hint for you.
You’re pretty slick Hannah, I like that in a person! Yeah, I think I got it. He’s the one I had suspected anyway and shame on him. I guess the wife is covering for him or do you think she knows?
I don’t have a frog collection, but I did help a turtle that was headed for the street, picked him/her up and took it to the back where he/she had less of a chance of getting run over today anyway. I guess you could say that was my good deed for the day.
My husband has somewhat of a turtle collection. Native American rattles, dream catchers, war shields etc. all made from full shells minus the guts. I try not to think about it as it’s kind of gross (the shield shell is approx. 3′ long x 2′ wide & it was quite expensive). I’d love to get rid of them or sell them but he refuses. Guess I should consider myself lucky he doesn’t collect the items with coyote or fox bodies & heads! ๐
Good God, I have a dear, dear friend that lives in Katmandu. This earthquake…they’re dead. I know it. The whole family. Unless by some miracle that my mind can’t wrap itself around..I have no faith in this moment and I cannot even form the words with my mouth to pray to God that they are spared, or will be spared…. They’re dead…
Omg sweetteasplace I am so sorry that you are worried about your dear friend. I pray that a miracle has happened for them. Since you are having a hard time praying, I will do it on your behalf if that’s ok. Dear God, in Your infinite mercy, wrap Your loving arms around sweet’s friends and hold them close in this time of disaster. Guide them and keep the safe. Protect them with Your love. In Thy Holy Name, I pray. Amen.
@sweetteasplace, I hope I didn’t overstep my bounds by saying a prayer for you and your friends. I thought about it after I did it and it sounded as if I was taking over. Didn’t want you to feel that way. It was presumptuous of me but I saw you hurting and that’s what I do in times of need. I don’t know who your God is to you but I figure a prayer is a prayer and if it helps that is all that matters. I hope you hear from your friends soon and all is well. Forgive me if I offended.
Oh Sweetteasplace, no, please don’t think that. It is horrible, it is scary but hold out hope if you can. The reports say people are having a hard time keeping phones powered, because electricity is out in most areas. Send your friend all your love, no matter what the outcome. I’ll be praying in my own small way, along with you and for them. Stay hopeful in the face of it. Much love to you.
These responses are making me cry a little, which is maybe a good thing…it’s taking me out of this “frozen ” kind of state I’ve been in all weekend, it’s hard to articulate, but thank you for expressing the hope and the prayer…it’s just hard to explain, I dunno, maybe I’m feeling shock? But thank you and Gingersnap & hannahkingrose and everyone sending thoughts out to the people in Nepal.
I’m sure you are in a state of shock and feeling helpless. I will stand strong with you and send you good energy and love, and hopefully, hope, and peace to your soul.
Stay strong and positive. And try not to watch the news too much.
After the Loma Prieta quake in 1989, everything was out. No one from my family could contact me, and we could not call out. It was a frantic time for everyone, because I knew my family was worried, and I could not tell them I was OK.
Your friend will be fine. You will see. Hang in there.
Sweetteasplace, we will keep our fingers crossed until you get confirmation either way. Keep in mind that all infrastructure has been disrupted and communications are down. Don’t give up hope yet.

I’m going to re-post a comment I made yesterday right before this daily tea went up. Some mothers maybe interested. I just found a product that I am very excited about and want to share. After all the heavy rains we have had here, the mosquito population is out of control. I hate spraying my child with Deet. I tried this new product that is organic and can be applied to the skin. It is called EcoSmart insect repellent. AND IT WORKS! It has geranium, rosemary oil, cinnamon oil, and lemon oil as the active ingredients. Try it if you have to deal with those pesky mosquitoes.
I wonder if it works for ticks? Somebody was looking for tick repellent in the Gardening thread. The chemical permethrin sprays from the outdoor stores is yuck! This sounds delightful.
It says ticks but I don’t have any personal knowledge. It works on mosquitoes and I tried the one for fleas because it is safe for children and pets. Both worked. You can buy it at Wal-Mart & Home depot. Some people are sensitive to essential oils so do a spot test on your arm.
Something else that works well for pets and is really cheap is suave shampoo with the rose merry in it. It’s in a mint green bottle. I used it last year on my dog and didn’t have to use any kind of chemical junk on her all summer.
I know a holistic vet who swears by taking dried lavender & rubbing all over your dog (or cat) to repel fleas (+ they’ll smell great). You can also add a bit of garlic to their food.
EVERYONE needs to stay away from those โspot-onโ treatments. Countless animals have died or gotten extremely ill after their owners have applied them & even if theyโre okay after the 1st application or 10th โ it doesnโt matter. If you love your pet, please DON’T use them!
I used to sell them (along with countless other pet products & they were our biggest money maker). A large portion of company profits went towards squashing the negative effects & we were trained to ALWAYS blame it on the owner โ “you didn’t apply it correctly” (in other words, โyou killed your pet, the 1 you were trying to protectโ)! It’s horrible that this company, trusted by millions uses in their sales pitch โif you love your dog (cat or ferret) youโll use this productโ when in actuality they know damn well the owners are playing Russian roulette.
This is on my must-buy list now, Thanks for the mention! Mosquitoes eat me up and I have a serious aversion to ticks. Playing in Arkansas forests as a kid seriously messed me up about ticks.
Thanks for the rec! I recommend skin so soft (avon) bug repellent. It’s awesome. I put it on everyday/night in the DR and forgot one night and got 24 bites. Don’t think it’s organic though.
I had a commenter insist on sending me a variety of essential oils. I have several lavender ones. I just put some on Banjo’s collar. He doesn’t seem to mind the smell. I hope it does the trick because fleas are a PITA and if he ever got a tick, I would not be able to remove it. โ

There’s a Caribbean saying, “When your neighbor’s house on fire, wet your own!” It kept coming to me as I was watching the news. Not sure how it applies, just putting it out, to get it out of my head.
Here’s a little tidbit for those who live in the South and are doing spring yard work. We have gnats here that will eat you alive and the sting is painful. They get in your hair, in your ears, in your mouth when you talk, just everywhere and it’s maddening.
Most Southern folks already know this but for those of you who may be newcomers there is an Avon product that will keep gnats away. It’s a bath oil product called Skin So Soft, originally sold in a tall bottle to add to the bathwater. Now it’s sold in a spray since its anti-bug properties were discovered as a side benefit to it originally being about the bath.
These riots are out of control! The riot police showed up to CVS hours later after they had SET THE DAMN STORE ON FIRE. There is nothing left to protect there, officers! The gangs have moved to downtown!
My dad had to take a welding truck into DC during the MLK riots to repair gas lines. It was terrifying for our family as we watched what was happening on tv from our grandparents’ house.
He took a gun with him, but worried that someone would toss something into the welder and blow him up. But he did his job. Just like the fire truck owner should do above. Without people committed to doing their jobs, civilization breaks down pretty quickly.
Baltimore city police have had a bad rap for a long time, much of it warranted. Some neighborhoods in the city never recovered from the MLK riots in Baltimore. They were never rebuilt, rehabbed, but just left to die and attracted all sorts of bad guys.
The city has been trying for a renaissance since losing so many of its employers, but with many fits and starts.
So far, the riots seems a culmination of Baltimore’s problems over the past several decades and the reports of police killing suspects without cause. They highlight all that is seriously damaged about Baltimore. What a nightmare for a city I love, warts and all.
The other half and I were watching CNN at the start of all of this and someone made the comment – more than once – that police were intentionally held back and were ceding ground early on in the hopes that the rioters would “burn themselves out” and “get it out of their system.” The opposite happened, and the results are horrendous.
I found it weird symmetrical that it was John Water’s Night on Rupaul’s Drag Race, since his love of and boosterism of his home town of Baltimore is legendary.
Baltimore’s leadership is a tattered ruin, Xanadude. That doesn’t surprise me.
Anytime a riot happens in the world, people like to pull from Martin Luther King’s words and writings to make sense of it. I thought this wasthought provoking, and, to a degree, supports what I said above about Baltimore.
“It is not enough for me to stand before you tonight and condemn riots. It would be morally irresponsible for me to do that without, at the same time, condemning the contingent, intolerable conditions that exist in our society. These conditions are the things that cause individuals to feel that they have no other alternative than to engage in violent rebellions to get attention. And I must say tonight that a riot is the language of the unheard.” –MLK
AND, ON CAMERA, right after the fire trucks arrived and hooked up the hoses to put the fire out, people where coming up and cutting the hoses. Baltimore, esp. that area, has lots of row houses – one fire can potentially destroy entire neighborhoods.
This brings back memories of Sunday, December 13-th, 1981 in Poland. Entire nation woke up to no phones/internet and only one working TV channel with repeating message: “don’t panic, stay home, no travel allowed, check for updates; the president will give a speech at noon”. When we looked out the window there were cops and army with drawn guns and also military tanks on the streets. They would not let anyone by, turned everybody back home. That was the beginning of military regiment in the country.
Yes… its scary. Seems like we as a country are regressing.
I can respect a peaceful protest. But this shit? No.
Can we talk about the Vietnam Vet Robert Valentine for a second? He just stood right up to those kids and said get of the street… And they DID!
Baltimore could use a few Robert Valentines right now.
Peace. Hope you are all well.
Love Robert Valentine. Don Lemon is on CNN now in a nice community that is quiet talking about what is going on after Miguel was in harms way all day reporting from the front lines. What a pussy.
Fox has someone on the scene of more fires. โ

Miguel has been amazing today. I loved when he walked up to someone and said that he recognized him from the past two days and what were his feelings tonight…the young man had been acting violently Friday-tried to take away Miguel microphone, was caught on camera doing it, apologized to Miguel and has been trying to keep others from escalating the violence since.
and yes, Mr. Valentine is the best.
Miguel was so impressive all day! I get the impression that he spent a lot of time in the neighborhood building up trust this past week. It’s paid off. He showed a lot of courage today, and respect for the people who are stuck there and unhappy about what’s happening.
I feel awful because I bitched out my mother because she is spending her money irresponsibly & haven’t talked to her today. My sister doesn’t help me at all dealing with her & only calls when she needs a babysitter. Plus my mmother is beginning dimentia & I have to drive a half hour to fill up her pills every week. My sister works around the corner from her & never checks on her.
Also, I’m an out of work teacher who took a job as a para cuz I need the money. Its only been a week & this kid is going to do me in. Im pretty tough & don’t put up with shit. Im nothing but nice to this kid & he has made me cry 2 days in a row. Im crying right now just thinking about going to work tomorrow. Thanks for a place to vent.
I hear ya! I’m sort of walking in your shoes. I’ve been dealing with my mother’s declining health for about 12 years now. Although I had people who my mother took care of or raised, and promised me they would look after her, sadly they didn’t. It’s been a slow long road. I basically had to pack up my life in Canada and force my new husband to move to Texas because I couldn’t trust anyone. Three years ago, had to give up my career and move my mother in with me. Good news is the state is paying me to look after my mom because it would cost them more if she had to go to assisted living and her emotional health got better. For me it got better once I realized that I couldn’t rely on anyone. Trust me we have butted heads and have had heated arguments, but what am suppose to do ? She’s my mother. Eventually you and you mother will have to have a real heart to heart about how to handle things. It’s hard for her as well. It’s hard to be losing your indepence. So hang in there!
The Baltimore situation is beyond comprehension. The mayor is an idiot who isn’t fit to lead. Most of us are expecting this shit to come to DC in the next day or two. I strongly recommend the thugs don’t because we will not play.
My daughter and I were just discussing these riots-havent watched tonight. I just don’t get it. Especially, since Fergusen, people seem to not only looking for a reason to “protest”, but thrilled for the excuse. I bet half don’t even know the name of the poor guy who died(what sounded like a horrific way to die). Why can’t people understand that any message(about doing something about the very few bad police) that might need to be sent is 100% lost. And those that caused his death should be punished and made an example of. Police in Charleston, SC and Walter Scott’s family handled that equally horrible incident the way it should have been and i was so impressed with his family. These riots are disgusting.
I think police have very difficult jobs and the vast majority serve with honor. I know I couldn’t do it. Of course, there will always be bad apples-in everything. Something should be done…
Can you even imagine being a policeman in Baltimore right now and having to work the riots? Rival gangs are banding together to target the police. Politicians such as their wonderful mayor are making it infinitely harder for police to do their jobs because they’re far more concerned with covering their asses or some poll numbers.
How can you possibly reason with someone who is willing to destroy businesses in their own community or that haven’t a fucking clue why they’re out there to begin with.
It’s heartbreaking. Because although I don’t love Baltimore as a city (Steelers fan displaced to DC metro) it doesn’t deserve this. No city does. Why they aren’t throwing them all in vans as they run out of the stores is beyond me. I would die if one of my loved ones was a BC police officer. They are calling in police from DC and PA. The mayor is a horrible joke. She can’t even speak well and certainly not intelligently. This is when the difference between a leader and a manager emerges. She isn’t even a good manager. It’s making me cry and I never cry about this shit.
I agree, TAT. I am just angry. This didn’t need to happen. It was a tinderbox that was mismanaged with a show of force that sparked a riot. Prior, protesting was relatively peaceful.
As for throwing them in vans, I seriously doubt they’d have any place to put them or many officers to process them at this point. But since these thugs didn’t bother to hide their faces, there’s plenty of video and photographic evidence for later.
Yes, yes, and yes.
By the way… this is just something someone I follow on Twitter. Just like any picture I post It is fine to comment on it.

This can’t just keep happening. โ

There was a video on cnn of a mama who caught her young son rioting and she beat his ass on national tv. Priceless.
awesome.โ
