I am two episodes behind on this so I thought I would get on the new season. I’m not going to do an extensive recap on these two shows. I’ll just make a few comments.
It looks like Fredrik and Ryan are going to be jackholes to Luis AGAIN this season. This season, Ryan is going to propose to his girlfriend. I could swear we already did that in a park with an orchestra or something. Am I making that up?
Luis’s problems with the movers and his client being homeless like Bethenny. are giving me major anxiety just to watch. For some reason I really want things to go smoothly for him. I’m already worried that Luis won’t be able to sell the house in two month and his clients will be living under the bridge with Bethenny again.
Ryan and Fredrik are working together on a project needling Luis about it. They are even making fun of Luis’ Maserati !
Luis still needs a girlfriend. So he is on Tindr. Who is that beautiful assistant he is talking to? Is she single? Oh her name is Ronita. She is perfect. She needs to be single. They are perfect together.
Can someone explain to me why the premier episode was an hour and 16 minutes long?
Fredrik is at one of the most beautiful apartments I have ever seen. Why in the hell is she selling this? She says she has a kid and wants a more family friendly home. How the hell could you do a multimillion renovation and just walk away from it? Fred is going to list it at $34,975,000. It totally seems worth it.
Ryan’s boss wants his to list his personal home. That is a lot of pressure. And he is supposed to sell 400 paintings. WTF? Ryan’s talking heads are hilarious.
Luis’ homeless client has only been out of his house two weeks and he is having a temper tantrum. I thought the $5.1 listing price was bad in the first place. After four weeks, the guy letting Luis’s client live in his house wants them out. Luis finally gets two offers and he is killing me squabbling over $50K. Finally, after heart stopping moments, a 5 million dollar all cash offer is accepted. I don’t know why I am so invested in Luis’ deals. I am literally on the edge of my seat for all of his deals.
Fredrik is having a brokers open on the $35 million dollar apartment. It’s a Chinese theme which is sure to offend any Chinese brokers. Because, Fredrik. The brokers say the listing price is way too high, the client wants to RAISE the price to $42 million. Next week, it looks like the client drops Fredrik.
So are y’all watching this? Are you interested in posts about it?
I really like this show. I don’t love it like the Los Angeles version, but I do like it!
I’m with you – Ryan and his talking heads are the best part of the show. The homes (and their prices) are insane. For some reason, Fredrick’s high kicks annoy the crap out of me.
Luis is a straight, good-looking guy, makes a good income, and drives a Maserati. Why is he having to resort to Tinder??
Because he’s barely 5 feet tall and a workaholic?
I like this show, staged as it is.
He’s that short? The disguise it pretty well! I agree – the show feels so much more staged than the Los Angeles version.
I’m giving it a try because a friend really likes it.
But it just all seems so staged……..
I do like this show as well as MDLA. Thank you TT for taking the time out of your impossible schedule to post on this. I do enjoy oogling at the beautiful real estate in NYC. I live close to the Big Apple and have friends there. I got a view of this caliber of lifestyle when I was a teenager. My bf’s sister was an interior decorator and one of the homes she was renovating belonged to Robert DeNiro and I was just speechless. She snuck us inside one night. I had never seen anything like it with my own eyes. This was back in the late ’80s and I was absolutely dumbfounded. So this show reminds me of that time. Thank you again! I will definitely be here to read!
Yes please!
We went to a Q&A and book signing last Friday night to see Fredrick, he was the nicest person ever. So sweet and was actually relatively calm although he did say he was tired from a long day. But so very nice.
I have always liked Fredrick, so I am happy to hear about your experience with him, kendrawm. I haven’t liked Luis since he and his brother altered pictures of an apartment he was selling. I am finally starting to like Ryan. I think his fiance has been a good influence on him. I love this show. It is one of my favorites on Bravo.
IIRC, Ryan asked his girlfriend to move in with him and promise not to be such an asshole and to be more available emotionally to her. It was not a proposal.
When I saw Luis driving a Maserati, my first thought was ‘why the hell did he buy that car in NYC? Where is he going to park it in NYC. There is a reason the other agents have a drivers to drive then to appointments, there is nowhere to park in NYC unless you are going to park on sidewalks…. oh wait.
I love this show.
I had the same reaction about his car, but didn’t know for sure since the only perspective I have is from all the car disaster/parking scenes from Seinfeld LOL
I loved that show too…
It seems like you can always find an appropriate quote for any occasion from Seinfeld!
Thanks for recapping this, TT. As a good Bravoholic I watch this show as well!
i’m new here, and i did not even know about the Million $ Listing shows! Now I’ll have to watch them from all of the cities. I love real estate, which is why I enjoy watching the Real Housewives shows that feature some beautiful homes.
Yes! I need to catch up on what I missed the end of last season.
Rose, I used to do some pretty in depth recaps…

TT ~ Last season, Ryan (Bravo) said he shut down part of Central Park and had musicians there to prove to Emilia that he loved her, by dancing with her, in front of God and everybody. I don’t think they had ever danced together before. (I’m thinking that Ryan hadn’t ever really danced in his life, although I couldn’t swear to that.) It was a great surprised for her and it was kind of cheesy sweet. Ryan even took some dance lessons, but he still wasn’t very good. It was the thought that counted though.
Love this show!
Ah thanks ! I guess I could have read my own recaps. I thought for sure it was an engagement

Hands down one of my favorite shows and I would love reading your take on their episodes. I agree with you that Ryan is hilarious in his talking heads. He has incredible comic timing. Frederik’s little dogs, Mousey and Fritzi … could not be cuter.
From the beginning I have liked this show and one other that used to be on. I love snooping into rich people’s homes. I especially loved the 35 million one this week with the full central park view. It amazes me how people that have that kind of cash money quibble over 50k. I am often suspicious, without even knowing anyone, how they acquired that sort of cash. So often, these are homes just in part time use, they have so many others.
The woman selling that fabulous home must have more money than brains, if she thinks we should believe that her 10 year old son just suddenly is considered needing a different type of home. During 4 years of renovation, she never thought he might want to be on a football team or something? That place was probably expanded and rehabbed for 4 years for the sole purpose of selling immediately for big profit. I bet she already owns a country house with expansive kid friendly lawns in a Norman Rockwell town.
My opinion of the men keep changing. I think Luis with his fit throwing, fancy car, and bragadoci, is becoming less likable, and mor like the big boys. Fredrik is today’s favorite.
For me, I like your blogging about this. Not necessary to be play by play, just like to read your opinions and a place to comment our thoughts.
Yes! It’s refreshing to see men being catty 🙂 Also they are hilarious and the real estate is interesting.
Love and never miss it! Is it me or is Ryan’s boss an asshat? He’s has a very icky persona ! He personality comes across like bad acting.
I thought he.had no personality. How does a guy like that have success, just so opposite of Mauriceo.
Yes TT! Please do! I have been reading your blog for years. I am a huge fan… Of you… (And MDLNY)
I read housewife recaps at another site for a long time before I found you. I can’t go back there now. It’s like eating chuck after having discovered Filet Mignon.
I am very interested in this show, and your recaps of it! I really enjoy seeing people living their lives in NYC, and getting a glimpse into the inner workings of NYC real estate sales. When my husband and I take vacations with my BIL and SIL, one of our checklist things to do is to try and find the most expensive open house we think we can get into, and go see the property, including once so far in Manhattan. (It backfired on us in Beverly Hills, though, because the Realtor’s son turned out to be a friend of a friend of ours in Texas…we were busted, lol!)
I caught one episode this season and I love the conversation Ryan had with his girlfriend about how the real estate world changed him. He seemed very honest and emotional about what he’s become. I also loved that he put his ego aside and worked with Luis and generously game him $20,000 for getting him through to the owner. He didn’t have to so definitely a step in the right direction.
Luis is such I cutie, wealthy, and educated how is he single? I would watch and read your recaps if you did them on spong bob cause your perspective is so spot on hilarious. Since most of my tv conversations at home are about teen nick or the new Taylor Swift video it’s nice to comment with you guys.
Iam just like you when it comes to Luis. Except that he is my boo, he is too cute! Too bad 2 Oceans are separating us… :´(
Iam missing Ryan being his usual dick self, but the season is still young. Fredrik is still aannoying as hel, ugh! Pls TT, keep the recaps up your posts have been the highlight of this show over the years. 🙂
Horrendous typos, eek!
Yes, I am still watching this show! I still love all the guys but it does seem a little more scripted/over the top this season. I guess after winning an Emmy they wanted to up the ante this go around. I still love seeing all the real estate porn and apartments I’ll never be able to afford.
I started watching MDLLA for the first time last season and now watching MDLNY again, the places just pale in comparison in size and what you get for your money. I mean, yes, the apartments in prime NYC are beautiful.. but those beautiful homes in Hollywood/Beverly Hills with sweeping views, infinity pools, beautiful outdoor space.. OMG to die for! And usually much cheaper. I love NYC but if I had millions to spend on a home, I’d definitely choose to buy in Southern California.
I used to watch MDLNY faithfully but Ryan really turned me off last season. He is such a creep. Fredrik was my favorite but Luis becoming a favorite, too.
I wonder about Fredrik’s relationship with Derek. I wonder who is manipulating whom. Did Derek marry Fredrik for his money so he could stay home and paint? Did Fredrik mislead Derek about wanting children? I wonder.
I will say this, that if I wanted a difficult house sold, Fredrik would be the one to do it and get millions for it.
Ryan took dancing lessons to impress his girlfriend and wanted to show her that she was important to him and that he was willing to spend more time with her, etc. (She also likes to dance). So he had that whole dance thing set up in the park to impress her. It worked.
I love these shows keep the recaps coming…
This is my favorite (well actually the ONLY) MDL that I watch. Love all the guys and how Ryan is willing to be the comic relief guy. I still remember him riding around town on that lavender scooter with the matching helmet on his head.
Luis has my son’s intensity…not to mention his height, tho I think my son tops Luis by three or four inches and I love the way Luis’s youth and energy can lead him into doing things that might not turn out quite as he’d hoped…
Like with the photoshopped apartment pictures.
Basically an honest (sometimes to a fault) person who has a very strong sense of who he is, but he got overly excited and went just that much toooo far. Life’s a learning experience though. Wait till he learns what a headache that Maserati is to park and maintain. It’ll be sold or shipped off to Puerto Rico ricky-damn-tic.
Yes, please recap the MDL shows. They are a nice respite from the never-ending Cuntsatchelry of the Real Housewives.
I like the slightly toned-down Fredrik, but wish that all three could play nice. I got a laugh when the client said “No high kicks, no wheeee!”
I love this show and don’t get to see it anymore, so it was GREAT to see your recap. Thanks, Dahling.
Love this show Tamara, please keep the recaps coming! I love Ryan & Fredrik. They are both former actors, so I can tolerate their staged scenes. But Luis irks me. IMO he relies on charm to close deals, rather than knowledge of the market & sales skills. But maybe that’s the angle the show is taking? He’s relatively new to the profession, where the other two are seasoned professionals?
Tamara, I love this show and am so glad you recapped. I don’t like watching the Housewives shows anymore; I tend to read your recaps because they are better than the actual show. However, with MDLNY and LA I do watch; best of the Bravo shows.
Fredrik is the best. I’ve always adored him. Ryan is hilarious and has grown on me. Luis has a big chip on his shoulder and has got to learn that in real estate, no one keeps their morals. He has to stop pontificating and realize what business he is in. Having that over the top car in NYC is ridiculous. I live in the Bronx and my house has no driveway so a lot of the time we pay for a parking garage. I cannot imagine what Luis is paying for in parking fees in Manhattan. Thank you again, Tamara! I love your writing!
I also meat to mention that the first season I really liked Michael Lorber. But he is old real estate money and I think he was too professional to play the reality TV game. He was adorable though.
YAY! Another Michael Lorber fan.
