Boy George better not lay a hand on my baby boy.

Jax won me over again this week I loved this performance.
Clark finally got my attention this week and will likely be in the finals. I find him forgettable a lot. But when I went to pull his performance and saw all the ones he did before, I thought. oh yeah! He’s good. Great even but not super memorable.
Joey and Qaasim are two of my favorites, but they could be in trouble this week. The little boy should go home because his voice is not great but he’s so damn cute he will keep on being voted through.
Two girls went home. Maddie? And Adonna? The guys are much stronger this season than the girls. Joey and Jax are the two strongest girls. Tyanna is also good. My final six would be QUENTIN, Qaasim, Joey, Jax, Clark and Rayvon.
I think Rayvon and Qaasim could be in trouble next week. Joey could also use your vote this week. You can vote by typing American Idol into Google. You can give 20 votes for each person you vote for. Be smart.
I noticed Clark too last week. He’s not as much of a showman as some of the others but that boy has some talent! I didn’t watch yet but I CANT BELIEVE the little kid is still there. And the other “heartthrob” (Nick?) yeah, he can go too.
Tonight is the first night I have watched AI for many seasons. ( since crystal bowersox was screwed) jmo
But I honestly was not impressed by any of them. Maybe it’s my hearing, but most seemed off key.
I gave up on season long competition shows once Top Chef made their contestants cook in a ski lift and then made them run up a mountain. The only one I watch is RuPaul’s Drag Race and this season has been so disappointing in terms of contestants and production values that I may have to give that up as well. And Idol…well, I have this just visceral dislike of Seacrest. I don’t know why, but I just don’t like him.
Xanadude, I don’t know if you will see this, but I left you an Easter Egg in my Dance Moms comments as a test of your loyalty. lol. xoxo

This season is not as long and drawn out. We are down to nine now. I admit to liking the two Qs just so much. And Joey.
I hate when y’all leave me hanging on shows.

Thanks to everyone who voted for Qaasim to stay this week. I’m glad people noticed him. Beyond his talent I love the fact that he always is super happy for everyone else, cheers them and is humble about his own performances. I personally loved Quentin yet again this week. He is like the prince of the times now. He is so inventive with the way he interprets music I just can’t get enough. I would play his cd in my car over and over if he had one. Glad to see Jax doing better. Liked her a lot originally but she had fallen off a little for me. Joey is great a not so great week for her but I think she did enough to get her thru. Take all the cell phones from all the little teen age girls please cause that little cutie pie bless his heart it’s his time to go next week.
I thought Joey stunk up the stage tonight. She hit many very ugly notes and was using a funny accent that didn’t sound like herself or Madonna.
Well like them or dislike them I’d rather see Joey or Quentin attempt ant artistic recreation of a song than some these others try to do the cover band thing. At least it’s artistry and they are trying something a little different. I get a little bored when you have a second rate attempt to mimic a Mariah or Whitney song like they sing it. Try and bring it to life like you wrote it.
Qaasim seems like a good kid, but I think he’s more style than substance talent-wise. Of course, when you look at most of the pop stars today, style trumps substance 99.9% of the time. Nonetheless, I think the judges used the “save” too soon on him. They should have saved it until F5.
I want Quentin to win it — not only do I think he’s the best, he’s from New Orleans.
I know Joey claims to be from NOLA too, but she’s really from VA, and only moved to NOLA a year ago. Between a transplant & home grown, I’ve gotta pull for the hometown boy!
Besides, girls have a harder time winning on Idol (8 of the 13 winners have been male) because most of the voters are tweener girls.
I do think you hit the nail on the head about pop stars today. There have been tons of really talented singers come thru idol. How many have really thriving careers? That’s because most are not performers just singers. With auto tune you don’t have to be the best singer. Your likability and performances are as important as the singing if not more. I don’t think I mentioned that I loved salt and peppa back in the 80’s!!!!
It’s a karaoke contest, nothing more.
That pretentious “Jax” with her Charlie Manson X sorely needs a huge cuntpunt.
I meant to ask what that X is. It appears to come off. Is this a thing?

Maybe I just picked a bad night to watch. But the gal that sang Cindy lauper (sp?) was hurtful to my ears. Lol
Way off key. I am not a singer, but I do play drums and sing back up and have for 30 plus years and that was awful to me.
That’s Joey. She missed the mark last night. She is either REALLY good or REALLY not. Qaasim had that same problem last night.

Also, this season is kind of short. They are racing through and the singers don’t have the time to develop that they usually do.
I can’t believe I am making excuses for this show. I like it. So shut up.

The one I can’t get on board with is the guy Jlo keeps saying is handsome. I don’t know, I can’t even remember his name. He’s not terrible on anything just never sticks out in my mind as anyone I can’t wait to hear therefore I really don’t care if he goes home next week. At least with Daniel he has that cute little 15 yr old thing that makes me want him to do better. Even though he really is out of his league. I love 80’s music it’s really my favorite time in music. But I didn’t here a lot of song choices that I loved. Me best performance goes to Quentin. I just love what he does with the arrangements and the vibe of his music.
The only true Super Star in this lineup is Tyanna. She’s only 16, humble, poised and a Voice of greatness.
She’s good but like the rest she is inconsistent.

I have always wondered why they give these kids like “songs from the 80’s” to learn in 2 days. They wasn’t even born yet. That must be very difficult to do.
I really have to hand it to Boy George this go round. They mostly all sounded much better than last week which was a pitch disaster across the board, and I’m pretty sure Boy George had a lot to do with that, and I’m fairly certain Harry Connick Jr felt the same way since he took time out on air to thank him for his input with the singers. It’s hard to choose which was the best between Rayvon’s Everybody Wants to Rule The World, Clark’s version of Every Breath You Take, or Nick’s rendition of The Man In The Mirror. All three of them were just excellent. Boy George is calling Clark the winner, but I’m not so sure. I’m thinking Rayvon won that shit. Tyanna brings in a distant fourth place with her rendition of I Wanna Dance With Somebody. Jeezus that was a gawd awful start, but I’ll be damned if she didn’t manage to turn that around rather nicely. Jax You Give Love a Bad Name had an equally as bad start as Tyanna. She resolved it probably better than Tyanna throughout the song, but her rendition wasn’t anywhere near to my taste so she gets the lessor ranking. Qaasim, is pretty low on my list at this point. They’ve taken to using the chorus to fill in for his vocal failings. Watch his performance and pay attention when the chorus comes in and you’ll note it’s at every point his voice is not up to the task. At this point he needs to go to make way for the better singers. Quentin is a niche musical market he’s different for sure, and there’s nothing wrong with that really. He’ll be commercially viable. He reminds me of Prince really just not as vocally good. Joey, and gawd knows I love that girl is sadly an also ran with her rendition of Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. I’m really pulling for her though.
