I am going to continue my slackassery today but I am watching the two hour finale of Empire and I know we are going to want to talk about his!

It just started and already Hakeem is going rogue, Cookie is fired and the hot body guard is moving to DC? We can’t let him go to DC!

Let’s talk about it here!

This is getting GOOOOOOD!

I’m confused as hell. So Jamal was ok with his father killing Bunkie? All because he wanted his fathers approval, or solely because he was named head of the company? If he wasn’t named head of the company, he would want have wanted Liscious behind bars instantly. He really can’t be this shallow. They’ve turned Jamal into a punk and just flushed his character development down the drain.

And what was the plan between the Lyon family? They were going to allow Luscious to get away with everything or were they still planning a hostile takeover? It was a bit all over the place. And it seems like Terrence Howard has a new series coming in may. I thought Actors could only appear on one Primetime network series because of contracts? I’m so confused.

That Cookie is a giver. First 17 years, then pillow talk with her ex, now sacrificing her higher moral ground to work with Boo Boo Kitty who had the audacity to force the drink out of Cookie’s glass into her face, and through the process of flesh magnetism force Cookie’s right fist into her face. Which was all well and good, no real harm, but then Boo Boo follows it up by trying to trip Cookie with her pearls, and forces Cookie to perform a rather strange form of resuscitation, the kind best applied by placing your hands around the choking persons neck and applying pressure while using a twisting motion. It’s all the rage in Europe I hear. But even after being put out like that Cookie still agrees to work with the ratchet women. She’s a saint that one.

Let me say I love Empire. But tonight’s show was annoying as fuck. My eyeballs hurt from all the eye rollin’ I did. There was way toooooooo much music, and Jamal over sings & overacts every song with Micheal Jackson wanna be expressions. Drives me nuts…… and everybody just kept changing personalities & motives. Lucious, Anika, Hakeem, Jamal, Cookie, all of ’em just actin’ crazy. So now Lucious is not a bigot? Yeah right. But the best part is that we found out that Becky’s mom is white. Loved that long reaction of dead silence when she said it matter of fact. LOL

Y’all just know that next season is gonna be a heavy rotation of A-list guest stars. I like the name dropping, but I don’t want to see all these people who bring nothing to the story but star power.

So was it Andre that snitched on his dad to the Feds about Bunkie’s murder? And why were the Feds on Lucious’ ass to begin with? What did I miss?

Remember several episodes back when Cookie hired a hit man to kill the guy that she thought left that rose on her doorstep? I thought there was gonna be some fall out from that murder but it was never mentioned again.

I thought it was Jamal who narc’d on Lucious — the line he said to Cookie as Lucious was taken away and then the outdoor scenes with him in the streets that was inter cut with him singing about how he’s got “nothing to lose/so much to prove.”
Together with the earlier talk of Lucious wanting to know if he had what it took/if he’d do anything it took to be CEO of Empire as Jamal proving definitively that he did.
But I could be totally wrong — because I agree with your criticism of tonight’s episode — characters and story line were ALL over the fucking place and the edits and crazy close ups didn’t help as they made everything have any even more frenzied and rushed feel.

@UF ~Vernon was the snick who told the DA/feds about Luscious killing Bunky. The guilt from Bunky’s death is what led Vernon back to using like G-Money from New Jack City and into the DA’s office. Andre’s wife killed Vernon by mistake during their fight, so we will probably see Vernon strictly in flashbacks next season. Vernon cannot testify on the stand as a witness against Luscious, so the DA or feds will let him go. I just knew the ending would be a who shot JR moment like Dallas from the 80s, but not so much. The fights like Alexis and Crystal from Dynasty were interesting and fun to watch. Hanging Barretti off the balcony like Red from the Five Heartbeats and the rap battle against Black Rambo in the basement was reminiscent of 8 Mile. Luscious’ strategy is divide and conquer. So, by feeding into Jamal’s weaknesses, and then isolating and alienating Jamal from Cookie and his brothers, he maintains his power and keeps control of his Empire.Puff and LA Reid should make appearances as Luscious’ old friends who put up his million dollar cash bond to get him out of jail. Looking forward to next season.

The finale did all I hoped it would kept me guessing what was gonna happen next. Had lots going on. Plenty of drama so I can’t wait for it to come back on. I liked that Jamal who is “the good guy” was able to show that in order to achieve his fathers approval he would do just about anything to get his love. Even something completely put of character. I really don’t think it was as much about getting the company to him. He wants Lucious to love him and understand him that he would do anything. When Lucious walked in on Hakeem and BooBoo Kitty knocking boots that was everything. A son after his own heart is what he wanted and that’s what he got.

Look…Daniels needs to slow down and hire new writers that will finesse the storylines and the characters more.

This finale was sloppy and all over the place. I am rooting for this show, but it’s gonna run out of steam by mid-season next year at the pace it’s going.

And there’s too much fraggle-rock in’ autotune!!

That being said, I shall be purchasing my copy of the soundtrack as soon as I hit enter.

I was excitedly entertained but also disappointed. Cookie and Boo Boo Kitty fight – watched it multiple times! Lucious misdiagnosis of MG, not ALS, so he survives (but I was also wanted to see a main tv chatter stubble with such a devastating disease). Lucious dream confession with Bunkie’s ghost and Cookie wanting to smother him, then Lucious gifting her the pile in the boardroom. Lucious punching little snot Hakeem. Did Lucious course Jamal as his successor by default and is his home phobia cured? Jamal is his mini-me and shouldn’t be underestimated. Cookie is true to her code and didn’t snitch. Patti LaBelle! Want to learn more about Rhonda.

DIsappointed: JAMAL has shown he will do anything for the music but Barretto on the ledge. ..where did that come from and where were Barrett I’m goons? What about the hit Cookie initiated? Hakeem and Boo Boo Kitty, nasty, that boy really has Mama issues. To much JHUD that storyline was so obvious therapist to singer and unprofessional. Not enough Patti! No more Mary J Bridge flashbacks. Confirmed I still feel nothing for Andre. Vernon paid a huge price. Next season needs tighter writing and less big name stars unless they have a purpose.

These writers need to concentrate on writing an interesting plot and stop having the characters be completely different people each week. Everyone is all over the place.

Also, we don’t need every famous black person, including fucking OPRAH to be on season two. I think a black cast can be interesting without trotting out all the current black listers. Seriously. Just give us a good plot and we will tune in.

Unlike Scandal which lost me the week they totally stopped moving the plot forwarded and decided to do a whole episode of random dead black kid in the street just to mirror current events.
