Shahs of Sunset Recap: The Staycation from Hell

Shahs of Sunset Season 4
Shahs of Sunset Season 4

We pick up with Jessica gone and everyone throwing on a swim suit and getting in the pool and getting drunk. I hope those cups are plastic. Everything is going along great. With Jessica gone, Mike is a whole new person, or perhaps the old Mike, once Jessica was sent home.

Reza is having worse hair issues than Nene Leakes this season. It’s really bad.

I love that they have a bartender and a cook. Asifa doesn’t like Iranian food. Asa doesn’t like chicken liver. I LOVE chicken liver. I also love Iranian/Middle Eastern food. Mike tells his arch-enemy Bobby and Asifa and Shervin  about his proposal plan. That should go well.

MJ and Jefferson talk about the competing bachelor parties. They are in charge of Reza’s MJ wants to get Reza laid.

Asifa manages to insult the other Bobby, not her Bobby and when he smarts off back to her Asifa and her Bobby start acting like assholes. Asifa’s Bobby is going to get his ass beat. Asifa started all the shit and now Bobby is somehow racist because he referred to Asifa as some Indian girl. WTF? Reza and Asa are on the wrong side of this argument. I predict they will realize what cunt buckets Asifa and Bobby are as filming goes on. They seem to always pick the wrong pony early on in the season. Asifa is such a little whiner.

Shahs of Sunset Cast: Keeping it Real

Despite MJ currently being the only maid of honor for Reza, MJ is still very jealous of Reza’s relationship with Asa. I can see this will be a problem in the future and MJ will someone be the odd maid out. Meanwhile, MJ and Jefferson have decided to have Reza’s bachelor party at the same time as Adams so that people can only go to one or the other. This will turn out to be an issue too because everyone is friends with Reza in the group and though everyone loves Andy he’s the new person marrying in.  Why can’t they just have one big ass party? MJ wants everyone to state right now which party they will attend.

Reza is going to meet Adam’s parents for the first time and he is already making fun of the white people. Reza has a lot of negativity toward middle America. But he doesn’t want to blow it up like he wants Iran invaded by the US.

Adam’s father is not a fan of gay marriage. He is a military man with very traditional values. Adam has an older brother who is also gay.  Asa tries to prepare Reza to behave appropriately. I am not confident in Reza’s ability not to be a fucknozzle.

Adam’s parents come to the house and Reza starts on his white people tirade. He has a lot of judgments about white people from Oklahoma.  They boys and the parents go on a haunted tour. The guide is very heavy on blood and gore. Adams dad seems really fun and funny. He is not the strict military man who Adam described at all.

It’s time for Zinat and Ramin and Arta, Asa’s mother, Father and Brother. They are staying with her will she has their house renovated. They have arrived with a herd of cats and a microwave.

Back at Reza and Adam’s they have a traditional Iranian meal. Adam seems to have a lot of resentments toward his father. His father says that none of his three boys call him. He seems hurt by this but Adam’s response was something along the lines of “Why do you think that is?” Adam is making a lot of little passive aggressive digs at his father.

Adam’s father is very sweet and trying really hard. He tells Adam that he is proud of him. Reza has Adam and his dad hug it out. Adams parents are adorable.

I liked this week!

Next Week:Gigi is a bit over Asifa, Asa is looking at cars, Mike is trying to get a listing.

Man, what has happened to Reza, Mike, and MJ? They all seem to have, er, grown, if you know what I mean. Asa with her parents and the cat “thrones”, funny. It did seem that Adam was being hard on his father. I don’t want to see the MJ is jealous of Asa story line again.

I see why Adam and Reza are together. Reza is asshole aggressive, while Adam is passive aggressive.

Before judging Adam too harshly for being so hard on his father, people need to remember there were alot of years when his father was probably being a total dick. The baseball bat comment Adam mentioned reminded me of my own conservative, ex-military dad who years ago said that he could turn any gay man straight if he was left alone in a room with him with a baseball bat. It says something that none of the dad’s three sons call him. He seems to have softened with age, so hopefully now he can repair the damage.

So, in other words, Adam sought out and stays with a partner who subconsciously reminds him of his father.

Meh I’m not fooled by the father. If Adam says he doesn’t favor gay marriage and has traditional values (which isn’t always a negative thing) and his sons don’t call him for a reason then there’s obviously a reason.

I’m totally projecting here but my father was/is what I imagine Adams to be – when in public, he’s a major charmer, high on humor and the office practical joker, but the second the door closed at home, or even just the car, was a total monster.

If my dad was in front of crew of camera men with giant fuzzy microphones, filming for a nationally viewed reality show, you better fucking believe he would be hilarious and sweet and charming and everyone would love him.

I sort of get why Jessica doesn’t want Mike around his Persian friends. They are always fighting and/or drunk and they gossip like pros. Mike is a sensitive guy and they make him sound like a lazy jerk so why wouldn’t Jessica be resentful of all of them? Reza changes BFF’s like people change their underwear and the rest are just plain weird. I DO NOT believe anything that Golnesa (GG) says because she is a nasty, vicious, spoiled drunk. The new character, Asifa is awful and a total bitch. SHe is in GG’s home and acts resentful of her presence. Do these people actually pick the cast members or do the producers? No one would pick a creepy girl like Asifa and her boyfriend/husband. I see lots of drama in the future here and none of it sounds like fun. Reza was very nice to Adam’s parents and Adam seemed to finally grow a backbone. He should use it more around bossy Reza. The hair situation……oy.

Her and Asifa (and therefore asifa’s yappy ex-boyfriend-ex-husband-current-boyfriend-future-husband) only know how to turn up. Its like they were the tough G’s from 90210 in high school and they’re still trying to represent.

Is ASSifa Golnessa’s evil twin? Hate her already and her ex-husband/fiance is just as bad. Love her or hate her, Jessica has Mike wrapped around her soon-to-be diamond-encrusted finger.

That scene were Asifa just has to move in with Gigi and her pet knives was so redic, I just can’t. Gigi has no redeeming qualities either. She is always the pot calling the kettle black.

I thought the root word/influence of the word Iran was Aryan. Persians seem hell bent on calling themselves white. Yet, the shahs speak of “White people” as if they are different. Sure, they aren’t Anglo, but I’m confused. Maybe I’m too literal with my cultural anthropology, but aren’t they Indo-European? Jessica acts like she grew up in a trailer park.

I think they’re Caucasian, but what they’re probably referring to is that they’re not mayo/wonder bread-type white. If that makes any sense…

Iran is in the Caucasus, so Iranians are Caucasian. Which has nothing to do with “white”. And “aryan” was a word used to differentiate between people of Jewish descent and others in the region. Also nothing to do with “white”. Do you *really* think that the name of “Iran” was taken from a western interpretation of “aryan”? Aryan meaning “white” came much later.

I just was watching an Iranian author, who pointed out where the word came from. It doesn’t really matter, I was just curious.

Actually, the word “Iran” does derive from aryan, but not a Western interpretation, a self-identified one. Iranian, or airya, is derived from the word aryan, as an ethnic identity. Like many Indians, Persians are also Caucasian, hence the term Proto-Indo-European. Blah, blah. All of this is mute, anyways. Race is completely a social construct.

My son thinks that GG is growing out of the fascination with crazy bad behavior. She looked disgusted in her reaction shots during the staycation melee. And the way she went MIA at the end of the Turkey trip makes me think there might be something to the Mike issue.
Mike is an overcompensating roided up buffoon and if Jessica’s people are bottled water money why on EARTH did they allow their daughter to grow into a vulgar harridan?
I know Bravo likes to jump on the loud woman=strong woman bandwagon but seriously, Patricia from Southern Charm could eat that vulgar child for breakfast without even breaking her stride—and she wouldn’t have to stoop to acting like the centerpiece at a prison riot.
I kind of liked Danny though when he said he’d just roll with it to keep Mike peaceful.
Hell SOMEBODY has to be the grown up, poor Asa can’t carry that burden all alone.

Asifa is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo out of line. First of all, Reza asked Bobby: “do you have any tattoos?” He replied: “yes I have one on my private part”. He was ANSWERING Reza’s question!!!! He asked the question because GG said she likes guys with tattoos. Asifa was the RUDE one who said to Bobby: “you are DISGUSTING”. She needs to mind her own business. If I liked a guy and asked him: “do you have any tattoos, I think men with tattoos are very attractive?” The guy can choose to either answer my question or not. If he does answer, it’s between me (the person who asked the question) and the guy (the person who answered the question). Asifa SHOULD NOT HAVE CHIMED IN WITH HER OPINION! As wrong as it is, she deserved the nasty response from Bobby. It’s no wonder she and her soon to be re-husband broke up in the first place. She needs to learn to keep her mouth closed. You don’t always have to express every little thought that comes to your mind. I’m half-black myself and I disapprove of a lot of Black people’s behavior in general. Oh and by the way, in MOST parts of the world, if you are MIXED, you are considered MIXED. Only in the U.S. does the one-drop rule – for some idiotic reason – still apply.

This is my favorite show on bravo right now…

Why did they add Asifa?.. the whole point of the show is that they are Iranians living in la… I like how they bring in aspects of their culture in the show. So the fact that Asifa isn’t into Iranian culture is annoying… among other things..

I love Asa.. I wish we were friends in real life. She is so positive and confident. Everything poor MJ is not. I hate to see her doing this jealousy thing again.. but I understand.. Asa is awesome. .

I don’t think Mike wants to get married… but he better .. I don’t know who else will besides jessica that would … .. part of me thinks he night be gay…. he also has really low selfesteem… much like MJ.. it’s sad to watch.. Even when he goes to see his parents..he tries to impress him so much.. ..

I think Asa is more likeable now but a couple seasons ago she was all ‘holier than thou self righteous” mean girl when her and GG were getting into it and Reza and MJ were on the outs. Even last season I thought she was a bit harsh on Lily. But she seems to have matured since then and is a lot more grounded and positive now. JMO.

he Shahs of Sunset, the Americanized boiling pot of Persian, Jewish, Indian & even a dash of white companion definitely seem loving to one another (no matter how exhausting), open-minded & fairly educated with a sort of PC attitude “when convenient.” And yet, the sort of patriot of the bunch, Reza, has truly shocked this Oklahoma viewer with his arrogance & ignorance towards White America, & yes, towards Oklahoma as well. Contrary to admitting you know nothing about the Mid western state, you continue to make unsavory comments anyway. So please allow me to pull you into the know. There aren’t any Piggly Wigglies, & yes we have a wide variety of dining. We have everything from Indian, _Mongolian, Japanese, Greek to Romanian, Jamaican & yes, Tex Mex.
