Am I the only one who prefers Dance Moms being in Pittsburgh? This week Brynn is back in Pittsburgh. It seems he mom is not really thrilled with Pittsburgh but anything for some TV time I guess. Abby is in love with Brynn.
Time for pyramid. Nia is on the bottom. She did not place in her solo. Plus Abby is a big ole bitch. Next was Jo Jo. But Abby says that Jo Jo improved. Mackenzie was next. Kendall was next, it’s her birthday, Abby liked her. Next is Maddie. Kalani is on top of the pyramid. She was the top scoring soloist of the entire day. This week they are going to NJ and the Candy Apples will be there. It is interesting to me to discover that Abby and Cathy were friends before Dance Moms and that Cathy, not Abby was the first person cast on the show.
Solos this week should be no surprise. I am going to guess Maddie, Kalani and Brynn before I even watch. Possibly with Mackenzie in the mix as well. Abby will want to annihilate Cathy.

Maddie’s solo is called Vertigo. Abby says that her Chandelier video has been nominated for four Grammys so they are going to the Grammys! In her talking head, Maddie says that Abby thinks she is going with her, but she really isn’t. #HairToss oh my, Abby’s creation is turning against her. Sia didn’t win any of the awards she was nominated for.
Brynn gets the second solo. It’s called “Diamond in the Rough” And it looks like she is only entering two this week. I guess she wants to be sure she wins with her top two. Kalani did win the entire event last week though, and Mackenzie is in a younger age group, so I’m not sure why she is only entering two solos.
The group number is Dancing in the rain. Abby brings up that Mackenzie and Nia both won national titles at this competition over the summer and they will be in their crowns and such passing out the awards at the end. Mackenzie smiles but Nia does have a bit of a stank face happening. Abby takes the opportunity to go in on Nia asking if she doesn’t want to complete her duties. Nia has apparently been instructed to say nothing to Abby because she is just standing there. This causes Holy to jump in and defend Nia and tell Abby to stop with the constant needling. WTF is Abby wearing?
Candy Apples has one of Abby’s competitors from LA coming in to choreograph for her. Because apparently Cathy can’t do her own choreography. Lucas is increasingly unhappy as a Candy Apple. I see where this could be going… At the competition, Luca’s mom goes to the ALDC’s dressing room to wish them all luck. I suppose Abby has to get her new junior team ready since the older kids are aging out.
During ALDC rehearsals Abby’s treatment of Nia is a main topic. In the studio, Maddie says she is afraid of Brynn because she has great technique.
Maddie is suddenly grown in her talking heads and speaking about Holly and Abby’s feud as if she is a peer. Abby already seems to be making excuses in case Maddie loses to Brynn.
Maddie’s solo is shown first. Abby talks about how much Abby has going on now outside the studio and how here dance training has suffered as a result. But when she dances she looks great and it appears to me that her dancing with a different choreographer in LA has taught her some new moves. I think she will likely still beat Brynn.
Brynn’s solo was number 101 and Maddie’s entry was 99 so SOMEONE else was entered. I would assume that would be Mackenzie because if she places it won’t show up in the same category with Maddie and Brynn. But why not show it? Did she place poorly and Abby doesn’t want anyone to know? Anyway. Brynn’s dance was way different from anything Abby choreographs. It was a bit… I dunno. She just seemed to stand and pose and do things with her arms. I don’t have much ability to judge a non Abby type dance. I guess we will have to see.
No Candy Apple solos are shown.

Dancing in the Rain.
ALDC’s group number went well. With seven dancers for a change it seemed bigger and more intricate than usual. Nia was NOT stuck in the back of this one. I thought Maddie looked like she faltered a bit on her featured ending but Abby said it was perfection so, I must be wrong.
CADC’s group number was very dramatically choreographed. I liked it better than ALDC’s A lot of it was the music. Which probably was not the music played at the actual competition. It relied heavily on a huge fabric prop. I thought it was great. I am not sure that they did much to score on a technical scale or how that will work. It was also a group of THREE boys and two girls. Boys always get bonus points at competitions. They could easily win. Holly is nervous. I think the lack of technical merits will probably save ALDC from being first losers.
They start with the top three OVERALL high score solos. Which really makes me wonder who dancer #100 was. Brynn got second and Maddie got first. Brynn looks A LOT like Maddie.
In the group dance Candy Apples get second and ADLC gets first place.
Cathy goes after the Dance Moms after the show. They are both lined up on their walls. I imagine the classrooms are locked behind them during the show and they are all waiting to get in. Cathy says that all the original dancers are dancing in the back, which is not true, I notice Nia was in the center for a good portion during the beginning which was unusual. Lucas’s mom distances herself from the other moms. When the teams get back in their rooms, Cathy throws Lucas and his mother out in true Abby fashion for being disloyal.
Jill and Melissa went and stole the megaphone and screamed about winning.
Next week: Abby has the girls publicly critique each other, because that can only lead to good feelings.
P.S. While looking for new photos, I found this quote and from a good USA Today interview. Maddie says that the moms fighting is fake.
For fun, “I dance,” she says. “I don’t really do anything else. Or I hang out with my friends, all the girls on the show. They’re my best friends.”
Wait, what? On the show, they bicker constantly. There are tantrums, tears, outbursts.
“It’s hard to do a reality show when there’s so much crying and drama,” she says. “The producers set it up to make us all yell at each other. You know how I said that moms do fight? The moms have a fake fight sometimes. Afterward they just start talking and laugh about it.”
I think I saw Kalani dressed in a costume when they all run back in the dressing rooms after they do solos. I remember thinking why didn’t they show her?
I had the same feeling about Candy Apple’s group dance. So dramatic and I loved the way the prop was handled. Could have easily been cheesy. I just can’t see Lucas dancing with ALDC regularly. But his storyline was predictable.
I also thought Maddie screwed up the ending of the group dance!
I thought for sure Brynn wound win because her choreography was so much more interesting, but May be I was distracted by her flexibility?
Best part of the episode by far: Maddie saying Abby thinks she’s coming tithe Grammys with me, but she’s not! Then semi-evil giggle.
Any other time if a mother or any one else from another team comes in the dressing room to tell them good luck Abby is very snarky with them. This is definantly a set up for him joining the team at least temporarily. So transparent. I don’t loved the candy apples group dance. It was really different. But like TT said it may not have been as hard as the ALDC. I never understood why Abby would not enter as many girls or all the girls in solo’s when they go to a comp. is their a limit to how many you can enter? I would just think it would increase your odds of winning if you enter as many as you can. If your as good as you say you are your, the kids should allready have many dances memorized so it shouldn’t take a lot of practice to get them ready. I’ve seen them do the same dance before at different comps. So that shouldn’t be a big deal.
I think the turning is going both ways. Abby in her talking head clearly talked poop about Maddie. How Bryn has everything that Maddie doesn’t. The flexibility, the legs, the body, etc. All this time I thought Abby was blind. It’s very telling that Abby didn’t state the obvious, that Bryn has had better training and has better technique.
Bryn truly is the better dancer. She lost because Maddie had the best choreography.
That happens all the time e.g. giving Nia solo but not helping her with, then blaming her for not placing.
Scandalous.
Brynn is the better dancer. She lost because the competition is FAKE. Abbs and the producers decide who wins. Brynn never had a chance of winning.
I loved Nia’s I don’t care look when Abby spoke to her. And then again after Abby calling her out on it. I really love that child and hope great things are coming her way….regardless of Abby.
ABBY hates Nia and she is such a respectfull kid her mom Holly taught her well.
OMG I HAVE BREAKING NEWS AND FORGOT TO MENTION IT!
I was up last night just fucking around on the Internet looking at Dance Moms stuff and found this video of the girls at the ASTRA awards in Australia
https://youtu.be/UC3kFTn_y2U
NIA IS THERE! They are filming Dance Moms season there as part of their trip. I really thought Nia was out because I had not seen her mentioned at all on the Ireland/Australia trip. Jo Jo and Kendall and Nia and Kalani are all there!!!

I’m so glad Nia is there because I think Abby really DOES like Nia; it’s Holly who gets on her nerves. She likes Nia cos Nia has been with ALDC so long and whenever Abby has extra workshops etc, Nia is there.
Fascinating. On Twitter, Holly is promoting a meet and greet in Australia with her, Nia, Jojo and Jojos mom. I highly doubt that’s Abby sanctioned. Wonder what’s going on.
I’m really tired of Holly this season. It’s like she’s trying so hard to take up where Christie left off. If you truly despised how your daughter is being treated, find another teacher! This makes me think alot of the drama is fake because the mothers continue to participate in the abuse.
Are videos even nominated for Grammys? Maddy just performed and walked the red carpet, she wasn’t directly nominated.
Yes Videos are nominated. I think Happy won. The video vixens do not get grammys.

Nia is my absolute favorite on DM! She always presents herself as real and dancing from her heart.
