Apologies for skipping the Jodi Update yesterday, I had a lot of personal matters that needed attending to and it wore me slap out. I fell asleep before I could ever read to get caught up. I’m just now finding out that yesterday was a big day for the trial. It was the last day of testimony and housekeeping before closing arguments which began today. Oh and before I forget! I was just told on Twitter that the verdict will be aired live should any station choose to do so. I REALLY wish we had a court channel on TV. I don’t know how HLN thinks playing the same 2 hours of chit chatty crap over and over all day is more profitable than airing live court cases, but apparently it is because that is what they were doing last I checked.
Okay on to yesterday, Monday, February 23rd. The morning session started off very strange. Because, Arizona. The judge came out and then went back into chambers. Two jurors were dismissed. A female, Juror #5 left in tears. Didn’t we also have a problem female juror #5 the last time? I believe that juror has shown up in court a couple of times for this shit show. Also dismissed were Juror #12 described as an older male who kept to himself and wore headphones when not in the jury box. So far no one knows why they were tossed. I await the female showing up on Dr. Drew hopefully one of y’all will alert me to that. Is Nancy Grace still on? I need to assign someone to watch that. We are now down to 9 women and five men a day before the closing arguments start. The jury was excused until the afternoon session. Note: When I tagged this post Juror 12 was already a tag from last time, not Juror 5 (it was Juror 3).
Meanwhile the attorneys and the judge had several sidebars. The media room and the overflow room can hear the trial while they are working and apparently their audio feeds were not cut during the sidebar so everyone knows that the sidebar is about Jodi making her allocution. She is demanded that the court be emptied and her allocution be sealed. Because, Arizona. How many times do we have to raise this issue? It has been ruled on by the State Supreme Court. WTF else does she want?
Head of courtroom security is at the bench with all of the lawyers. Also some court administrators. There is major drama in the sidebar that the spectators can’t hear due to the white noise.
Jurors are finally called in. Wilmott is putting up evidence in the form of letters. It is unclear who the witness is. I thought it was Fornseca. I don’t understand the legality of having a shrink sit in the chair while attorneys essentially testify. But that appear to be how the do in Arizona. So letter #1 is from Aunt Sue who claims she found Jodi’s cell phone and turned it into Attorneys. ( This I believe is the helio phone of much controversy) Next that idiot from New Zealand or wherever who is referred to as “Witness #1” had his mummy write a letter saying that she knew the bishop and that she had dinner at his house with Travis sitting directly across from her. Umm Hmm. Next.
But there is no next THE DEFENSE HAS RESTED! Hallelujah!
The judge says to Jodi, “Um killer lady, did you hear that the defense just rested? This means you don’t want to allocate?” And Jodi is all like, ” Not true, I do wanna allocate but not with the great unwashed in here, I just want to tell muh lies in private to the jury while maybe doing a little strip tease for the five guys that are left. In fact, can I allocate just with them?” Okay that is not exactly how it went but it’s all going to have the same outcome. Jodi will not be giving an allocution this time. The judge literally did ask her if she was on any medications today. Jodi was clear she would not allocate unless the allocution was sealed. It appears Judge Stephens finally gets it because Jodi will not be allowed to run the show this time.
So that is it! Jury was sent home to return (today) for closing arguments. The attorneys stayed to iron out final juror instructions. Really? The same ones they got the last time aren’t good enough anymore? Apparently they are after defense makes a few minor changes. State has no changes. That was yesterday.
I’m following along today as well, but I need to get a Vanderpump Rules post at least up in between. I’ll have todays closing arguments for you ASAP today. I promise! Let me know what you think. Do you think Jodi will get the death penalty?
