I am so excited to finally see Shahs of Sunset back on the Bravo Schedule. You may recall that Shahs was supposed to return back in October. Unfortunately, the post-production editors at Ryan Seacrest Productions went out on strike trying to get benefits and like health insurance and sick days like their non-reality counterparts receive. I don’t know if they were finally successful or if Bravo just hired different editors but the show is now set to premiere March 2nd at 9 pm. I cannot wait. I have so much tea on this show and it’s going to be the best season ever.
First, here is the official Bravo Press release on the show:
This season finds much of the cast in love with success abounding, but when a scandalous accusation shakes the crew, their lifelong friendships may be changed forever. As the group navigates the most tumultuous year of their lives, it is on a trip to Thailand where they start to understand that their real wealth is each other.

Reza is newly engaged and planning a wedding with fiancé Adam, but with the impending nuptials he starts to wonder if he is ready for a lifelong commitment. Asa is helping to fund a home renovation for her parents, but as she struggles to deal with them temporarily moving in, she finds solace in a new art project that reaches oppressed women everywhere. Mike is getting over his fears of commitment and as his girlfriend, Jessica, completes her conversion to Judaism, he prepares to take the plunge and finally propose. Perpetually single, MJ, may have found Mr. Right with new boyfriend, Charlie, but as she braces him to meet her super protective group of friends and worse yet, her mom Vida, questions about her own ability to start a family arise. GG is taking a break from men after she split with her boyfriend two days before they were supposed to move in together. She starts spending more time with her friend of ten years, spitfire Asifa, but it is only a temporary distraction before she gets back into the man game.
New cast member, Asifa Mirza, is half Indian, half Persian, and 100% hot. She is charmingly gullible and a little clumsy, but when crossed she is a force that far outweighs her tiny frame. Currently studying for graduate school, Asifa lives a very pampered life thanks to her retired boyfriend/ex-husband/possible fiancé, Bobby. A highly passionate couple, Asifa and Bobby are constantly at odds, but she is trying one last time to extract a new marriage proposal from her former husband.
Okay, you know how on The Bachelor they guy always says “tune in for the most shocking rose ceremony ever” and it’s usually not that big of a deal? Well trust me when I tell you that this season is a SHOCKER. The “scandalous accusation” is made by GG who says that Mike Shouhed attempted to force himself on her. There is a preview where she takes a lie detector test to prove she is telling the truth. Mike denies it. There are also numerous accusations that Mike is cheating on Jessica. The entire cast seems to turn on Mike. It’s unclear is Mike and Jessica break up on camera, but suffice it to say they are on the rocks at the very least.
Speaking of problems with engaged couples, Reza and Adam are having issues as well. Reza has cold feet and wants a prenup with Adam who is not particularly keen on the idea.
MJ finally has a man, Charlie, who is ten years her junior. The age difference and the fact that he is not Iranian does not fly with Vida. The new girl is dating her ex-husband who is an ex for a reason. GG gets new liposculpture and a butt lift and since filming has ended she also got new, huge boobies! Asa does some performance art on the streets in a burka.
This all adds up to the most DRAMATIC SEASON EVER!
My buddy, Charmaine, and I will be taking the front row seats, please.
Thanks, TT, for all your hard work. Smile, yes? Else I will have to dance to ‘Shake It Off’, just to get a smile from you…
Yay! I love Shahs, except for that horrid little maniac, GiGi. She almost gives me an amurizm.

Smile, yes, tt? Else, I may have to dance silly to “Shake It Off”, just to get a smile from you.
Wow that accusation is shocking.
I really liked the first season of this show, but then in the 2nd or 3rd one the whole MJ/Rezza “fight” was so fake to me. I hate it when the CAST is given free rein to come up with their own storylines. I watch these shows to make fun of these people and bask in their gaudy lifestyles, and I wasn’t getting that.
Same thing happened with Miami Housewives where the CAST was scripting themselves, and guess what no one cared.
In any case, I’ll still give it a watch.. maybe.
Rape??? Whoa!!!!
Took me a while to warm up to this show but it ended up being one of my favourite “reality” shows (& their excursion to Turkey was the BEST). With all the Housewives shows following the same recipe (‘been there, done that’), Shah’s is new & refreshing, but I agree → “Rape??? Whoa!!!” As Micheal wrote below “how is Mike and his family/fiancé ok with staying on the show?” That’s pretty heady stuff & even an accusation could be problematic in his real-estate career. It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out. Thanks for the Tea TT.
I agree…the accusation alone is problematic in itself because rape is one of those things, guilty or not, the stigma of it NEVER goes away…both personally or professionally!
Yeah, “rape” is too strong of a word I believe. I’ve been researching a bit and she claims he tried to force himself on her, but it seems as though she pushed him off of her. Though in one scene in the trailer, Reza asks Mike if BLEEPED GG.
Weird. As I started to read this, I thought: “I wonder if Mike& GG will finally hook up.” The first season really leaned toward them ultimately being meant for each other. Will be interesting to get the details. Neither one is a very responsible drunk.
Mike seems like a sleazy guy. I wouldn’t put it past him
I really can’t stand GG. I hope she has grown and matured a little since last season.
Didnt Mike date GGs sister? So is this allegation recent or years ago?
Recent. Like during filming. As far as I can tell.

Yikes. That’s a pretty serious accusation.
I’m surprised this will be a ‘storyline’, it kind of seems inappropriate. Even if it is true, how is Mike and his family/fiance ok with staying on the show? Is it going to actually be referenced or will it be handled like when Brandi discussed Adrianne’s surrogacy?
Imagine that reunion special. Having them in the same room seems very fucked up.
Oh no, there is footage of her taking a lie detector test and discussing the assault on the trailer for the new season. There is footage of Reza confronting him and him denying it. It’s serious for real.
At first I thought they all abandoned him because he was cheating. This came out of left field.

I remember you discussing his cheating ways and that he was on the outs with the cast, but this rape allegation. Totally threw me. Just seems so random. I’m not sure how to process it. I was planning on watching this season like I did last season but now…
I think both Mike and Laila (?) they had sex together and broke the bed.
PS: During college years I recall.
They are including rape as part of a storyline? Well I hope they are respectful and don’t sensationalize and falsely dramatize something so devastating and serious.
Yeah I doubt a Bravo show will handle such a sensitive topic tastefully. I’m not sure how to watch this season.
TT, I’m so glad you cover this show — can’t wait to watch this season and read your blog. Their trip to Turkey was maybe my favorite reality episode(s) ever. And Vida is one of my favorite reality characters every. She cracks me up every time.
I’m glad this show is coming back but wow, this is serious stuff they’re throwing in there. Is it me or do I remember GG flirting with Mike in previous episodes? I guess I always had the feeling they were fwb’s. That’s really screwed up if he forced himself on her and it serves him right to be iced out of the group. But my cynical side wonders if a psychopath like GG wouldn’t embellish something that might have happened? I mean this is the same person who threatens to cut people when she gets angry/drunk. I guess we’ll have to watch to try and see what really happened.
My question is if Mike is actually guilty of raping GG, will he be arrested and prosecuted? Does GG file a report with the police and if she doesn’t what kind of message is this sending to rape victims/survivors everywhere? What is “basically” raping her? To me it’s either rape or not. If a woman says no even if she changed her mind from yes is still rape. Can’t wait to see how this all plays out and how Bravo deals with it.
There are not a lot of details yet. What GG is describing is certainly a sexual assault allegation. I don’t want to label anyone wrongly over a clip of a TV show, but it appears it will be a primary storyline.
The better question is, if it happened in Turkey, and GG told production, why was Mike allowed to return for another season where he is also seen merrily proposing to his girlfriend.
My thoughts exactly. If production is aware of this, as they obviously are, and there is even a chance of being true, how can they allow him to continue to film and be on the same show as his alleged victim? Don’t they have some liability in this?
TT I may have read more into this than a sexual assault. Even still if GG passes a lie detector test, I would hope the proper steps were taken to investigate it. I know that a lie detector test is inadmissible in a court of law, but it is an indicator of truth. Bravo is supposed to have a no violence policy and I would say if this happened, it would definitely fall into that category.
This allegation came out in last year, in August or September, right before the show was set to air in October before the strike. She said he tried to have sex with her when they all were in Turkey the previous season.
I have a feeling they are trying to make this into more than it really is. Which is unfortunate for Mike if that is the case. The clip certainly gives the appearance than Mike took advantage of GG in some sexual way.
I thought it was typical Bravo hype too. It just doesn’t make sense that a serious accusation like that come’s out right before the show is to air, then we don’t hear anymore about it, now that the show has an air-date, the clip is released again. I don’t watch it on a regular basis, so I’m not familiar with the calendar dates, but there was an ex of GG’s that was granted a Temporary Restraining Order against her for stalking, threats to him and his family, just her usual off-beat behavior. She posted a pic of blood on the side of her face saying he assaulted her in Las Vegas, but you could tell the blood wasn’t coming from her. It wouldn’t surprise me if the lie detector had something to do with that, if it was all around the same time. Who knows with Bravo, they love to set up those clips, only for it to be something totally different when we see the whole scene.
Maybe, just maybe, Mike propositioned GG in Turkey. The issue being that he cheated on Jessica and wnated to sleep with GG as opposed to attempted rape.
