Dance Moms Recap: What A Freak Show!

Dance Moms Season 5 ep 1

I am so excited that Dance Moms is back. I cannot get enough Abby Lee Miller. I know, it’s a sickness. Don’t judge me.

OMG! I almost skipped the girl talk pre-show where the dancers all talk without Abby or the moms around, but I took a peek and already the girls are spilling the tea. It seems that Abby wants to move the studio to Hollywood because she has a BOYFRIEND in LA.  I thought it was just for media whoredom’s sake.

First of all, I didn’t even recognize Mackenzie. She is not a little girl anymore!  Kendall, Maddie, McKenzie and Nia have been traveling all over Europe and Australia with Abby teaching master classes. They all seemed really excited about the opportunities. Abby’s boyfriend was on the trip. Kendall accidentally let his name slip out and they bleeped it.

Chloe is not there and the host asks where she is. The girls all say she has been doing stuff on her own with her mom. They’ve all tried texting her and she doesn’t text them back. They don’t know what is going on or if she will be on the show. The girls are hurt that Chloe has blocked some of them on Instagram.

JoJo with the Bow Bow from the Abby Lee Dance Competition comes out. She is still trying to get on the team. I’m going to assume we are stuck with her this season. I hate her speech problem.

On with the show! Dance Moms Nia Abby

The show begins with everyone missing Chloe and hoping she will show up. It seems there are only four originals left. Kendall, Maddie, MacKenzie, and Nia are the sole survivors. This season the girls will be branching out into acting and singing as well.

It’s time for the first pyramid.  Kendall was on the bottom because she came in ninth. Next was Chloe.  Then Nia, MacKenzie, and Maddie on top.

There are three solos. Nia, Kendall and Chloe were chosen. But Chloe is not there. She was busy doing things like this. The group dance is Freak Show! They are really trying to sell the fact they were expecting Chloe. It’s not very believable. Nia is the strong lady, Kendall and Maddie are Siamese twins, Mackenzie is a contortionist. Abby calls Kalani. Kalani’s mom pulled her out previously because Abby won’t let Kalani dance against Maddie.

Kalani gets Chloe’s solo and for some reason this pisses off Holly.  Holly wants to blame Kalani’s mom for this? IDGI

On the day of the first competition, Paige’s lawsuit, that is separate from her mother’s lawsuit hit the media. The moms tell the girls and tell them not to do anything to agitate Abby because she is going to be working with a short fuse. When they arrive at the competition there are lots of signs for Chloe in the crowd. But the crowd is still cheering loudly.

Kendall’s solo is first. It’s good. I don’t expect her to win with it. It was a warrior type dance and she had the wrong face for the dance the whole time. The spear was a distracting prop. I was not moved.

Dance Moms Season Five

Nia’s solo was great. It was very unique. Almost like pop art. Sort of tribal meets the streets. I hope she wins. It was very different. The judges will either love it, or hate it.

Kalani’s dance was very good. She danced in heels. It was sort of a tango inspired routine. All three dances were very different. It’s just going to come down to the points. I’m not really sure whose choreography was the most difficult but that will be the deciding factor.

Between the solos and the group dance, Abby gets a text from her neighbor that says that there are news crews at Abby’s house. Abby is in tears. She pulls herself together for a pep talk for the girls. The costume budget is way up this year. The girls’ costumes are AMAZING.

The solo was fantastic. I thought I saw Nia make a minor bobble or two but it was hard to tell because at times they were all sort of doing solos and it might have been intentional. They will probably win. Abby loved it.

Nia came in second in solos, Kendall won first. Kalani came in second in her division. The group took first place. The MC says that he wants Abby to know his group supports her.  Abby gave a speech to the crowd thanking everyone for their support.

In the previews, it looks like Nia and Holly may be kicked out. It really looks bad. That will break my cold black heart.

FYI, on Christie’s L. Twitter she stated that only one person reached out to Chloe, which she did respond back too. I have no idea why I still watch this show. It’s spotted so bad. I always root for the underdog so with no Chloe, I can’t watch any longer. I believe she is never coming back.

All these girls look so grown up to me. I can’t believe most are still Tweens. I hope one day Nia reads Abby into the ground…

TT, I believe that JoJo is partially deaf. I could very well be wrong, but I recall her and Mom doing sign language after her elimination on the other show. Her speech sounds like people who have deafness.

Why are those little girls in red lipstick and false eyelashes for class? I am so glad to see Kilani again. She is a fabulous dancer, better than Maddie. What is up with Dr. Holly? She is my favorite mom, but she is acting like a cross between Jill and Chloe’s mom. Abby looks good.

I thought it was interesting how all of them was trying to act like they wanted Chloe there. She hasn’t called us, why isn’t she here. All of them were at the competition and know what happened between Abby and Chrisitie. I wouldn’t want my child to be around a teacher who says “she is washed up.” All of them was acting like it was Chloe’s fault and Abby wasn’t responsible for what she did and said about Chloe. I’m glad she didn’t return and now Abby will turn her evil onto someone else as we can see already in the previews for this season.

I will be sorry if Chloe isn’t on Dance Mums any more. She seemed like the sweetest kid and a lovely dancer and she was my favourite. I won’t be surprised though if she isn’t, Christie and Abby just seemed to really loathe each other.

All these girls are like 14 and under and I understand in a performance they may need to be made up but in the girl talk show they had on as much make as grown women. More than any grown woman would have on actually. That’s crazy they’re little girls. They all ready give up so much of their lives trying to be professional dancers their moms could at least let them keep some of their modesty by not painting them like that. I can’t believe that Holly is going in on the whole lawsuit thing. She always seems level headed. Dies she not understand that these women are finally standing up for their kids. I mean I love this show but if my girls took dance from her and she talked to them like she does those girls, I can’t be responsible for my actions. But they keep bringing their kids in there cause them being famous is much more important than being treated with respect by someone your paying to teach your kids to dance.

WOW. That was the worst episode of Dance Moms I’ve ever seen. I really don’t know if the three remaining moms are going to be able to carry this show. LOL at Christi trying to “destroy” and “wage war” because of her inspirational tweets for Chloe.

The competition looked even more staged than usual. It doesn’t make much sense to me to show an MC personally thank a dance studio owner, after the kids just COMPETED in a COMPETITION, just because she’s being sued for being such a bitch.

I usually don’t say much about the girls’ dances since I’m obviously not qualified, but I really thought Kendall’s was awful. No way that would have placed if this wasn’t the same staged comp they go to every other week.

Kendall’s dance wasn’t good. It just looked awkward the whole time, and that gold headpiece was too bright.

I loved Nia’s dance and the group dance. I didn’t watch whatever the speechifying was from Abby at the end.

I enjoyed both shows. The girls has a great time chit-chatting for an hour and without anyone peering over their shoulders.
The first episode of the Season was heavenly. No shrill baying by Christi.
    RELIEF!!
Looking forward to the Season. Hope Holly’s role as the obnoxious one is short-lived. First she was crying about there only being 4 dancers and when the 5th one arrived, she was crying about Kalani being there. She made no sense whatsoever.
I believe the girls. They loved Chloe and made attempts to contact her.
Would Christi prevent Chloe from reading those messages and answering her friends? Yes!
ALDCLA should be very interesting. It looks like the studio is going with the full package – Acting, Dancing and Singing. Impressive!!

Can we talk about Abby’s weight loss for a second Does it irritate anyone else how when women get a new boyfriend {and when they are looking for a new one} is when they decide to lose weight. Why do they not love themselves enough to get healthy for them instead of trying to look good for or to keep a guy? IDGI. I have seen it dozens of times and it is frustrating. Love yourself first girlfriends. Love yourself first!! Then when it doesn’t work out with the guy…you still have yourself. The one person you can always count on.

Right! I’m surprised no one mentioned it – I read the recap first and was so surprised when I saw her.

Do you think she got that lap band (?) or something similar? I thought there was only a few months inbetween seasons, it’s crazy how much weight she’s lost in that time.

No way to know for certain but my guess is – Abby was completely taken up with her 2008 bankruptcy and her mother’s ill health that it took time for Abby to finally take care of herself. Her financial worries are over and her dear mother has passed away, so best of luck to Abby finding happiness
      in her personal life.

I’d love to see who won 1st over Kilani, as I thought she was amazing. Loved Nia’s dance and the only mistake I saw was her drop wasn’t as good as usual. I basically enjoyed the heck out of the show because No Christi! I cant stand her or her mouth, and hate all the fat jokes. Abby looked great, I wish her continued weight loss.

I forgot to mention — Kilani took Chloe’s place right? So Abby was already pre planning ways to dog Chloe ala making her the bearded lady – I think she definitely made the right decision not coming back.

Did anyone else notice that Holly has seemingly gone all Hollywood? Everything about her was so different, even the way she spoke. Same goes for Maddie, which really doesn’t need to be said.

I just can’t with this show anymore. What Abby does is child abuse. She is far from the best/winningest dance teacher (even in their local area). Its all smoke and mirrors and these mothers whoring out their kids for ratings on lifetime will regret it.

I just came around to watching this, and ew.

Chloe was such an interesting character. So sweet and kind but loved these very dark dances.

Her mother brought the hilarity, with her little aggressive waddle and her snide humor in her confessionals. She was the only one that could go toe to toe with Abby, all the other ones are too weak or dumb. Abby and Christy reminded me of NeNe and Kim in a way.

I have to say though that last season I was a little bit disappointed in Christy because her confessionals were pretty much all scripted by production and not nearly as witty or funny as they used to be.

Point is, no way in hell I will watch this scripted piece of shit without some sort of rebel. I’m already barely interested in the whole dancing aspect of the show since even the actual freaking competitions are scripted. This show a a tongue in cheek guilty pleasure for me, and this is not it.

I’ll make myself watch the next episode, but if they keep up this overly produced bullshit of “oh how I miss Chloe” “wait what did she do?” “omg how dare she try to bring Abby down and all the other girls with her!!” I’ll leave this cheesy crapola for teenage girls to enjoy.

I am so disappointed in Holly this season. She is all over the place with her nonsense. She is acting just as Christi used to act and poor Nia is paying the price for it! I used to love Holly but I can not stand her anymore. She is so obviously jealous of All of maddies success. It is horrible to watch her act like a lunatic. Poor Nia, it is playing out just like Chloe’s fate, and it is all because of her big mouthed mother! Holly knows the drill after 5 seasons, she knows Nia is gonna catch hell every time she bucks against Abby! SMH
