Today, in the center ring we continue with the direct examination of Geffner the defense’s shrink who says Jodi has PTSD. Today it appears we will focus on her relationship history. The theme of Jodi the victim continues. Her first boyfriend was Bobby Suarez. Geffner says he was abusive to Jodi. Bobby was into martial arts and once put Jodi into a head lock and screamed at her.
Next she dated Matt McCartney. He cheated on her. This is the relationship where Jodi went to stalk the girl he cheated on her with. In an interview with Matt he said that Jodi was very emotional and cried a lot during the confrontation. Matt suspected Jodi was bipolar. She has major mood swings. Matt and Jodi dated for two years. He has mostly nice things to say about her. They talked about marriage. Juan has made a half a dozen objections, mostly about the lack of foundation.
Next up was Darryl who was 20 years older than she was. Daryl said things were great with Jodi, but he also thought she was bipolar. Darryl was not ready to remarry and their relationship just went as far as it could. She broke up with Darryl just before meeting Travis Alexander. Geffner said that she got breast implants and dyed her hair in an effort to please Darryl. Geffner continues to point out that Jodi has a pattern of being eager to please her man. One of Jodi’s co-workers was interviewed and said that Jodi was very depressed and withdrawn after her breakup with Darryl.
*Lunch*
We return to run through the timeline of Jodi and Travis’s relationship. Travis pursued Jodi. They met at a prepaid legal convention in Vegas and he invited to dinner in the VIP section. He made her feel special. Within 30 days he had given her the Book of Mormon and she has given him oral sex. Within two months, they were sexting and Travis was sending Jodi penis pics. Two weeks later Travis baptizes her and they have anal sex. Geffner says the sex and the religion were at odds with each other and confusing for Jodi. In December, Travis says he wants them to see other people.
Geffner is not repeating the testimony given by Fonseca about the emails from Skye and Chris to Travis. They have several negative things to say about how Travis treats the women in his life.
We spend some time on Jodi’s journals. Jodi loves Travis but is not sure he returns her feelings. She is more invested in their relationship than he is. She goes through Travis’ phone and finds evidence of cheating She becomes unhappy when she realizes that Travis is seeing other people. She talks about “Heavenly Father” and this is not what he would want from them. She breaks up with Travis. She then has dinner with Darryl who says there are plenty of people who want to see her succeed. A month after the breakup she flies out to see Travis again. He convinces her to move to Mesa. Jodi’s diary entries are both fawning over Travis and contemplating suicide. She has been trying to pray for Deana and Lisa, two other people Travis as dating off and on. She tried to kill herself. Travis compares her to Deana saying she is needy just like her. Jodi is becoming more and more depressed. She calls Matt for the first time in months. He suggests she commit herself to a mental institution. I don’t recall ever hearing that before. Geffner said that Matt was right. Jodi was highly suicidal at the time. Jodi wrote that Travis made her tear out a page of her journal that listed hateful things he had said to her.
This is so boring. They are staying late tonight for some reason. FINALLY they all it a night. Starting early again tomorrow. I think tomorrow is the last day of court before they break for the holidays… Maybe.
wasnt matt the guy who lent her gas money for the mesa trip after she traded daryl grandpas dvd player for gas cans?
Have you noticed that everyone connected with this trial looks worse and worse (lost weight, frown lines, gray hair!) except for Jodi – nothing ever bothers her at all, does it? Yawn, indeed…
I think she has actually aged a lot.
Yes! She looks terrible….oh effin’ well…
Today’s post is up.

I don’t recall anyone telling Jodi that she should put herself in an institution. I pretty sure I would have remembering hearing about a 5150….
I don’t recall hearing that either. Is Matt a “professional”? I wonder if Matt is one of the witnesses who didn’t want to testify in public?
Matt is the guy she dated and then she stalked his other girlfriend. She called him months after the breakup when she was with travis and suicidal. It was said today that He suggested she commit herself since she was a danger to herself.
You don’t have to be a professional to advise your friend to go get inpatient help. that is not a 5150. She did NOT go seek help. The witness said she should have listened to Matt.

You know, I get confused sometimes because CIRCUS! Is the defense now arguing that Jodi had some mental issues as in being depressed, suicidal, and possibly bi-polar, therefore we should show her some sympathy and spare her life? I thought the defense fought hard against the notion of Jodi having mental/personality disorders in the guilt phase of the trial. I think I’m too tired for this tonight.
Yep. It looks like they are changing their tune.. â

Do y’all remember when Dr. DeMarte, Juan’s psychiatric expert, testified during the trial last year? It turned the defense on end. First, JA zoned in on DeMarte and looked like her twin on the 2nd day and Wilmot and Nurmi began to talk about Dr. DeMarte as if she was their witness. Very strange, to me.
I didn’t follow the trial super closely, just in passing, because the whole thing, while interesting, makes me kind of depressed. It’s hard not to project my own former emotionally abusive relationships onto the case and then I just lose perspective on the truth of their relationship. But I have been reading your updates lately. Did Jody have close friends?
I do want to make it clear that I know she is obviously guilty, and she should be punished with at least a life sentence. The trial just puts me in a weird head space.
Can you imagine having your name and personal business brought up in this disgusting shit? All you did have an alleged disfunctional relationship with this sick bitch. Doesn’t seem right to me, unless of course these people were participants in the trial. I guess then you would be fair game.
P.S. Please don’t call me a cuntsatchel if I said something stupid. I admit I’m not up to snuff on this subject.
[email protected] don’t call me a Cuntsatchel! :)) Omg this site gives me life!!!!
