Couples Therapy: Fighting Til The End (Finale Recap)

November 19, 2014 by tamaratattles 3 Comments

Couples Therapy New SeasonWe return for the finale to Jenna wigging out because she is going to Vegas to visit her mother’s grave for the first time.  Maybe the reason she couldn’t find it on her own is because it’s not in California? Jenna’s first reaction is that she never knew her birthday. That could also would have made it hard to find. Jenna starts spilling her heart out to her mother. She thanks her for watching over her all these years.  This season has been a bit of tear jerker season between Jenna, and Dick and Treach… Jenna says it is the beginning of a new chapter in her life.

Juan says he is much happier with Nikki now that they have been through therapy. He and Nikki lie in bed and he is telling her how happy he is. He says, “I feel hope.” She corrects him and says, “hopeful.” This is Nikki to a T. She isn’t hearing what he is saying, she’s just correcting his grammar unnecessarily. In her talking head, Nikki seems to think they have made a lot of progress.

Sadly Treach and Cicely have taken a giant step back

since the last time we saw them.  Apparently, someone related to Cicely has been staying in their house while they were gone. They bleeped a lot of it but from the gist of things, the person staying there has allowed some lowlife to stay there with her. Treach seems unfairly pissed at Cicely for this.  He is mad because Cicely found out yesterday and she is just now telling him. She didn’t tell him yesterday because his father was there and they had just gotten to a good place. Treach is losing his mind over this random chick being in his house. Cicely calls Dr. Jenn.

Couples Therapy Treach w dad

Treach says that Cicely said that when they get home she is putting him out. Cicely denies saying that. Both seem to believe they are telling the truth.  Treach is talking in talking heads about he is going to lose his family.

Instead of group on the last day, they go for a boat ride. But before they let Treach and Cicely on the boat to drown each other, Dr. Jenn pulls them aside to chat. First the did review the tapes that Treach wanted them to review and no one found anything about Cicely kicking Treach out. Treach says that Cicely did not call his mother fast enough. She dried her hair first. This is unacceptable to Treach.

Cicely was afraid of Treach. Cicely wants out of the relationship. She can’t be around her anger. Dr. Jenn says that they are both still very angry. They should revisit the situation again.

Later at dinner on the ship, each couple gives a toast to their partner. Deena and Chris are happily ever after. Dick and Stephanie promise to be supportive friends forever. Cicely is crying for her toast. She says she is her to support him, not to hurt him. Until he realizes that she is not against him, they can’t save their family. Treach says he came with the goal of saving their family. He says he put his heart on the table. He doesn’t know how else to show her how much he loves her. He loves her forever and he will always be a phone call away.

Juan Pablo gives Nikki a ring, it looks like jade or perhaps a milky emerald. The weird thing is that I could have sworn in the previews he gave her a ring that looked like a wedding band with diamonds all around. Nikki is thrilled with the non-engagement ring.  But I would be wondering what it signifies if I were her. Is it a promise ring? Just something she admired at a flea market? What? Ah they explain all of this after the commercial. Juan says it is not an engagement ring, it is a ring she liked on Instagram. Oh Juan Pablo you never whip out a ring box in dramatic fashion at a table full of people! Does this fool know NOTHING? He put it on her middle finger. Jenna’s boyfriend in a talking head says it best. She didn’t get the ring, she didn’t get the proposal. She got a promise ring. That is what she got. She didn’t get the “I Love You.”  She got Juan Pablo saying he likes her a lot and he adores her. In Spanish. Oh Nikki. It couldn’t happen to a nicer girl. Dick Donato makes fun of Juan Pablo in his talking head. Nikki seems content with the promise ring.

Couples THerapy Jenna

Jenna says that she loves that John is there for her even though she is a lot to deal with. John is about to one up Jenna. First he plays a video of John hiking on some rocks and talking to Jenna through the camera about their journey on Couples Therapy and how much their relationship has deepened. Then he gets on one knee and proposes with the diamond wedding band we saw on the preview. In a box that promotes the jeweler who provided it for the promotional consideration. It is quiet lovely. She says yes. And Nikki dies inside that much more.

Dr. Jenn sits down with Cicely and Treach one last time. Dr. Jenn recommends anger management for Treach and therapy for Cicely. They agree to give it a chance. Treach loves Cicely. He tells her that she is his everything. He never wants to hurt her, he doesn’t want anyone else. Treach says he will fix his temper. He doesn’t want to lose Cicely. YAY!

I really need there to be a reunion.

Here is an update with some behind the scenes stuff on Treach and Cicely.

Nikki and Juan Pablo spilt at the end of last month. Nikki spoke to Life & Style

Opening up about their breakup, Nikki exclusively tells Life & Style, “It all played out over a couple of days, right before my birthday.”

Nikki, who turned 28 on Oct. 29, shares. “We were just going back and forth through texting. He was questioning the relationship, and I was questioning it back. I sent him a message saying, ‘We should fight for this. We should work this out.’ And he didn’t respond.”

To keep it from ruining her birthday celebration, Nikki cut Juan Pablo out of her life: She posted about her anger on Instagram, blocked him on Twitter and deleted his number. She tells Life & Style, “In hindsight, I probably shouldn’t have done that. I’m a tad bit impulsive.”

After the dust settled, the couple did reconnect a few days later and acknowledged that “we both knew we were wasting each other’s time. The relationship wasn’t making us happy anymore,” she admits. “We were never a normal couple.”

She says the distance was too much for them, and neither one was willing to move and relocate for the other. “We weren’t willing to make the sacrifices or compromises to meet in the middle and make it work.”

Nikki also reveals to Life & Style that Juan Pablo did eventually come around and say “I love you” to her! She wants to keep the details private, but she tells the mag, “It was really special.”

Deena has spoken highly about Couples Therapy crediting the show for improving their relationship. There is speculation that Jenna and John faked the whole thing, but who knows.

What did you think of this season?

Interesting about Jenna and John. Hmmmm…
I hope Ciciley and Treach really make it. I went back and forth though on if I could stand her or not. And Treach was hella scary at times.
