Andy Cohen’s Atlanta Book Tour Tea!

November 16, 2014 by tamaratattles 27 Comments

Andy Cohen at The Palm Atlanta

Andy Cohen was in Atlanta for two appearances yesterday to promote his new book. The Andy Cohen Diaries: A Deep Look At A Shallow Year.  And a Tamara Tattles Spy was sitting front and center taking copious notes! According to my spy, let’s call her “Queenie,” Andy looks a lot smaller and thinner and better looking in person. She said he was very nice to everyone and quite entertaining.

Queenie and I discussed questions before she went and she was hoping to get some tea who his most disappointing guest was. I told her it was Scott Baio. She decided to double-check. Queenie says, “I was seated in the third row so very close. I asked him who was his most disappointing interview and why. He said ” ugh.. I don’t know” he acted like he hadn’t been “disappointed” but I think he may just always put a positive spin on things. So I said “Scott Baio?” And he said ” yeah ya know I always really liked him. Then I ended up getting in a twitter war with his wife and …” This is the part where I point out I am always right.

Andy in the PalmHere are some other questions Andy was asked.

Who was the most medicated housewife he has interviewed?
Well there was one at the NJ reunion but I can’t blame her.

Who would he shag, marry, or kill: Ramona, Nene or Lisa Vanderpump?
“Marry Lisa (duh), shag Nene because I am down with a swirl, kill Ramona because I have to kill someone.

Do you have a final say in the firing of housewives?
“I have a firm say in who gets fired. ” (For the record that was a yes.)

What is going to happen with the RHONJ?
He says they haven’t decided yet. He also said that Melissa Gorga had texted him the same question earlier in the day. This to me confirms my opinion that RHONJ is dead in the water with a POSSIBLE return when Tre gets home from college

Will Lisa’s new club, PUMP get its own show?
“No.  Does everyone like Vanderpump Rules? ” Then in true Andy fashion he wondered if people thought he was too tough on Tom on his most recent WWHL appearance. You know, the one where Tom appeared to be drunk, or high, or as Kristen alleged on Twitter, on Molly. The response from the crowd was mixed. Andy blamed Tom’s inability to answer questions on being “tired and jet lagged.”  That’s not the impression that the viewers took away. It is always interesting to me that Andy needs to defend his interviews where he feels like he asked the hard questions or was a bit tough on someone. Hard hitting interviews just don’t seem to be his nature. Andy just wants to have fun.

Is The People’s Couch really filmed in people’s actual homes?
Yes.

Will there be a Season Two of Jersey Belle?
He said probably not. He says a lot of people really liked the show but unfortunately ratings don’t support a second season. That makes me sad. I know I didn’t recap it. I’m not really sure why, I think I had a scheduling conflict.  But it was a cute little show. I guess the lack of drama led to its demise. Which is a poor reflection of what we spend our time watching.

Andy and "Queenie"
Andy and “Queenie”

He was asked about his involvement, if any with The Real Housewives of Melbourne.

He said he sold the format to the Australian production company. They asked him to host the reunion, but at first he said he had a scheduling conflict, but it became apparent that the real issue is that the didn’t offer him enough money

He was asked how Mama Elsa is doing.
Sadly, his answer was very grim. Her health is apparently rapidly declining.

There were no Atlanta housewives in attendance but Chuck Smith’s wife Mynique was there with a small posse. One of the ladies who was with her asked  “Do any of the housewives friends ever become housewives?” Mynique and her friends were way in the back and the room was packed so Queenie couldn’t tell at first who asked the question. Which may explain why Andy responded with, “Why do you know a housewife?” Then someone must have told him that Mynique was back there. Then Andy said,  “Oh hey, Mynique! I have never met you, nice to see you. Tell Chuck hi!”

Several people brought Andy gifts. One man in particular brought a basket full of handmade lollipop cookies he designed just for Andy. There was a cardinal, and a peach and other things that Andy likes. Andy was super impressed with the cookies and asked to have them sent to him in New York. Sadly, the man who baked him wanted a date, and that apparently will not happen. It was a valiant effort though!

There were over 150 people there and Andy made a point to make everyone comfortable. He walked with his mike all the way to the back of the crowd so that everyone had a chance to ask questions. He gave everyone the opportunity to take a picture with him. The PR lady was encouraging group shots to avoid doing 150 single shots. Andy made sure that everyone who wanted a picture got one. From the sound of things Queenie was quite impressed with Andy

A huge thanks to Queenie for providing such an awesome and detailed report!

Unlike this post, no fake Jews were offended by this post. Probably.

Thanks, TT, and “Queenie”, such a pretty lady. Andy sounds very likable. I thought he was short. If I remember correctly, he defended his “5’9” height on WWHL once. I think he is that tall in his dreams. Most of the women he stands next to are his height or taller. It would help if he stood up straight, not in his semi ape like stance used a lot recently. See photo in The Palm, for instance. I wonder if he travels with an entourage.

I was surprised in excerpts from his book that he is so self conscious. His geeky physical antics on screen make him appear carefree, or he just doesn’t realize how spazzy he looks. He is very handsome, sitting or standing still.

NAH, The was one lady coordinating things, but I think she was local. No entourage.

For an elite NYC gay, his outfit is awful; but his waist looks thin which is what an elite NYC gay really covets anyway.

Still I want to shag, shag again, marry, and then kill Andy.

Yes… He was wearing navy cargos.. Denim shirt and a questionable belt. I was fine with it because it made me feel less self conscious about my outfit. Plus he can do no wrong iny eyes

That was St. Louis Cardinals belt. You know, the kind of preppy belt with the little patches sewn in even increments around it. That’s who Andy is….a staunch Cardinals fan, so I can respect his need to support his team rather than go for style…

      Wasn’t he cute though?

One of the first comments he got was that he looked so much more handsome and young in person.

Andy: Thanks, but I’m a little worried, since most people just watch me on TV.

PS I obsessed over my outfit beforehand….not gonna lie…

Interesting that a yank asked a question about RHofMelb. Good sign of maybe season two being shown concurrently in OZ and USA. It’s nice to see Andy is a great guy one on one. I’m surprised no one asked about his alleged straight boyfriend.

My main takeaway from this is that Queenie is adorable and I am in love. <3 <3 <3

@Michael, he talks about Sean Avery in his book a lot and is ADAMANT that Sean is straight and they are only friends. Listening to the audio version, I'm finally convinced he's telling the truth.

If it is true then that is great. Gay and straight men can be just friends. 🙂

I’ve decided I’d rather like to marry Andy. Seeing as he seems to like posh British ladies (although I’m pretty sure Ms VanDerPump secretly comes from croydon), I wonder if he’d fancy a posh British boy… Hmmmm.

God yeah… She has that “I’m form London but I’ve moved to Beverly Hills so must sound like a cross between Elizabeth Taylor, Jackie Collins and The Queen AT ALL TIMES, even though I went to a state school in Southwark” quality to her voice that a lot of Brits in LA seem to adopt. It’s quite jarring when you realise how affected it is…

Yes darling, I am sure you are right. But you’re British and we are….not. 🙂 We have this genetic disposition to respond favorably to most foreign accents. We are not proud of this, but it is a fact nonetheless. A disability perhaps… 🙂

I was siting near Mynique and she looked GORGE. I actually spotted her first when she was in line to get into the event, and for a flash I thought it was Mariah! She had on a pale pink fur jacket that was stunning, and I’m not even into fur.

She was with a group of four girls who were all turned out. One of the girls sitting with her was the one who asked the question about how a friend of a house wife might go about getting on the show.

Andy was in the back of the room at that time, and he said, “are you a friend of a housewife?”, and the girl pointed to Mynique (sitting next to her) and told Andy who she was. Andy came over and gave her a kiss and told her it was nice to meet her.

The restaurant was closed for the event, and when Andy was being interviewed for CNN there were a group of other reporters sitting nearby taking notes and asking questions. Andy was cool as a cucumber and looked very relaxed and seemed to be enjoying himself. (The press event was visible from the building’s lobby.)

When he came into “our” room for the Q & A event, he said “isn’t this fun?” and then told us that the Palm events would be special and would be the best events on the book tour. So if you live in a town with a Palm and Andy is visiting, I highly recommend it. This event sold out early, but there were people in line that were “on the list” so if you know people, give it a try.

FYI I thought there would be more gay guys, but the men were WAY outnumbered by the ladies. I would say that the average fan in attendance was 30-40 and was not shy about having a few cocktails. Everyone in the crowd was very friendly the vibe was great.

One lady (who drank at least two Manhattans) asked Andy if he heard any inside scoop about Bruce Jenner’s transformation. (Yes, the crowd was like that!) Andy kind of laughed and said no, but it was clear SOMETHING was going on….

Thanks TT for the great recap and a huge thank you to Qeenie. I also enjoyed Jersey Belle and had hoped for a second season. I downloaded the preview (first chapter) of his book on my kindle. I was reading it late last night and I accidentally hit the buy button like an idiot, ( gonna blame the wine). Before I could blink Andy’s book downloaded so I might as well read it. My exhusband’s wife was going but I haven’t heard from her yet to get her recap.

Again, thank you TT for a great recap. I also want to say thanks for all the underlined items in all your posts. I use them all, what a great thing you do.
